New printer and monitor combination

My Epson 5800 and 4200 printers both died at the same time, and shortly afterward my MAG/Innovision 17" monitor also.
I replaced both printers with the Epson Artisan 725 AIO and the monitor with a Dell 2320L LED LCD. Printers from Staples with a double discount, monitor from Best Buy on sale. Saved a total of 100 bucks.
I was very pleasantly surprised to find that the Dell sw added their calibrated profile to my Displays selection and that the Epson scanner defaults produced a scan of a glossy brochure that displayed on the monitor as an excellent match, with the caveat that I set color temp to "cool" on the Dell. I did not do anything with the default gamma, but I reduced the brightness and cranked up the contrast, although neither seemed to do much of anything. I left the type of display set on whatever they call photo instead of multimedia.  Printing the image from Preview with the defaults gave a slightly unsaturated plain paper print, which I understand is common for Epson.  Epson's Support Highlights has a very complete procedure for using their color controls which I believe will allow me to beef the saturation up without problems. For my purposes I will not need to do any further calibration of the monitor, scanner or printer, although I may use Vuescan and my IT-8 anyway, later on, for a compelte loop, as I did with my 5800.
Reading the Epson User Guide, I found that they warned against using any self-adhesive label sheets other than their own, which are not precut but have rulings on the back side for cutting with scissors or paper cutter. They warn that the paper path is tight and precuts may lift off and jam. So, of course I emailed Avery because I have a stock of their label sheets. They replied that they have no reports of problems, but they have not yet clarified whether label sheets should be loaded and printed one at a time from an otherwise empty paper cassette. The 725 uses a front bottom loading cassette paper path with face down stacking, unlike the top loading Epsons  which are back face up loading and feed directly without the up and around path.
Then I realized I needed to ask Epson about their Presentation Matte paper, each package of which comes with a backing sheet  which needs to be placed on the stack behind the matte sheet(s) to be printed. Their reply had a typo so I had to ask again and they too have not clarified the single sheet question. For the time being. I think I will use single sheet in both situations, as the occasions are rare.
All in all, pretty painless.
As a native Martian, I have trouble with the manufacturer's concept of "user friendly" here on  Brflg (our word for "blue").
The Dell controls are on the side at the right bottom and are touch sensitive and I mean SENSITIVE. They also can not be seen, except for the very faint on/off.   I never want to have to deal with them again.    What ever happened to actual buttons and stuff?
I used to do product design and I know you you're supposed to minimize holes and parts count and assembly time/operations, but jeez.
The Epson suffers from the same control panel malady but is much easier to see at least.
Epson also seems to have flimsyized their construction. You get the feeling that you had better be pretty careful with the scanner lid and paper cassette. Epson seems also to believe that burying necessary settings deeper and deeper inside the user interface a la Windows will make you a better person through challenge.

I installed a new printer and now Photoshop Elements tells me I can't print.  The error message is "The saved printer information is not compatible with this version of Photoshop Elements, or the saved printer is no longer available.  You will need to check your printer settings before printing."  I have uninstalled and re-installed Photoshop Elements, checked my printer settings and still I can't print a photo.

  • Installed a new printer and one line on the top is skipped

    Appreciate your inputs.
We have been using the 'Check Printing report' for quite a while; We recently installed a new printer and we see that the alignment has gone wrong.
The checks are printing from one line below as it is skipping one line. Where do we adjust the setting so that the printing starts from the place where we want?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi
Im no expert but I doubt its a template issue more likely to be the control escape sequence on the printer diriver set up. Check your printer manual and the current set up you have.

    Hello SalsburgD
The first thing I would check is to make sure that the router is using the recommended settings to get online. Another troubleshooting step is to create a new Network Location and then join your network to see if that changes things.

  • I have been using Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 for two years. I got a new printer and installed it although I did not remove my old printer from my computer. I used this program and my new printer for quite a few months, but today I deleted my old printer

I have been using Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 for along time now. When I first used the program I had a different printer than I have now. Although I changed printers I never removed the software from my old one. Now this was never a problem until today. When I choose a printer I still had option to use the old one but always chose my new HP Envy 5530 and Adobe never had a problem printing from that new printer. However today I decided to remove my old printer from my computer and now my Adobe cannot find my new printer.  How can I make it find the HP printer?

    Try this --

  • I installed a new printer and Acrobat Pro is not listing it as an option in the drop down box. Other apps are working. Printer is networked, platform is Windows.

sorry, other apps are working fine and finding the new printer. HP Officejet 8620.

I've rebooted numerous times, reloaded the software twice, spent 4 hrs on the phone with HP and 2 with Adobe. No luck. It simply doesn't show the new printer in the drop down menu for Pro or Reader and yet shows time in all in Office, Paint, Web options. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

  • I installed a new printer and set it as the Windows default printer but Thunderbird won't find it.

Using Windows 8.1 - x64 - Thunderbird 31.3.0 (Firefox 34.0.5 has found the new default printer)
I read about resetting printer.printer_printer and printer_printer but....
printer.printer_printer did not exist in the file.
Then I found printer_printer and chose "reset" closed and saved the file then closed and restarted Thunderbird.
But now the printer_printer command has disappeared completely from the file and the old printer info was left unchanged.
Then I went to the Windows "Printers and Devices" menu and deleted the old printer that Thunderbird was pointing to.
Then I closed Thunderbird again restarted Thunderbird and now the "print" command in the file menu is greyed out.
(Also the old printer info is still unchanged in the config file )
I would reinstall Thunderbird and just start over except I have about a dozen email accounts on several servers and have spent a lot of time recently on reconfiguring them to work on upgraded servers. Also I don't know how to save my emails if I reinstall Thunderbird (Is it possible to do this?)
I've googled for ideas but haven't found anything beyond the reset function.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

        http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=au&lc=en&docname=c03775352#N132
No, it doesn't have claim code. Only printers with ePrint enable/ready have claim codes.

  • I have a new printer and can't get it to print. ink installed properly. any ideas?

Please help me. I have a new printer set up today and it doesn't print. It is wireless and drivers installed correctly as is the inks x 2. It says printing alignment page but nothing comes out. Any suggestions for me? Thanks kindly,
    Sue

Try to perform a HARD RESET on the printer first. Unplug the power cord from the printer, and leave it out for 30 seconds. Plug it back in, see if it aligns and finishes the job.
After alignment, try to print a test page from the printer or make a copy. This job is to make sure that the HARDWARE of the printer is working correctly.

  • New printer and Photoshop

Just bought a Pixma MX922 and photoshop will not see it! I keep getting a message that I need to install a printer to print. The printer works in other programs, is set as default  but it WILL NOT work in Photoshop and I am tearing my hair out. I probably have about a thousand  photoshop files and I desperately need to fix this!
If you google "photoshop can't see new printer" a ton of other stuff comes up. It is not specific to Canon printers, they will not help me with it, I called them... I see lots of other people having this same problem with other brands also, but I am really hoping that someone here has had this problem and can help me.
I have tried lots of fixes I found online, but none work (creating a new photoshop profile, etc.)
I am running Windows 7 Home Premium, Photoshop CS4.
I would sure be interested to see if anyone has had this problem and what they did to fix it!

No, I never got any answers and after finding out that the fax won't work on this printer unless I have my answering machine in my office hooked DIRECTLEY to the printer, I took it back anyway. But this Photoshop thing has happened on 2 different printers I have tried... Canon & Brother. It is a common problem out there and I think I will have to suck it up and go back to HP printers because so far these other brands are not cutting it for me.
Let me know if you find an answer for the Photoshop problem as I am out of town for awhile and planning on buying ANOTHER printer when I get home... I have always used HP, but was trying to break away from their ridicuoulous ink prices, but I give up. If Photoshop works with a new HP printer, I'll let you know!
