New purchase not in iTunes, but in iTunes music folder

I purchased a specific Styx album, One with Everyhthing, a few minutes ago. My iTunes library indicated that a download was in progress. After the download finished, I ran several searches in my iTunes library using Styx & the title of the album, & couldn't locate this purchase in my iTunes library. I went to Finder, & ran a search for this CD. Sure enough, all of the associated files for this CD are in my iTunes music folder. I have moved the files to the desktop, & have tried to drag/drop them into my iTunes library. They will not add. How did I get this CD moved to the iTunes library? In all of the years I've been purchasing from the store, I have not seen this EVER happen.

Hi, b! I occassionally drop by from time to time, especially when I have an issue that I can't resolve myself. Anyway, yes the files will play in iTunes when I click on them. Now, the weird thing is that when I was playing around an hour ago, I could have sworn the files had not added to iTunes. I went to double check this when I saw that you had responded. I don't what happened, what I did, but the the whole album is now in iTunes. Previously, it would play, but not add to iTunes.

Why is 50GB of music gone? All music should exist on the computer. Only a fool would rely on a single device which could easily be lost or stolen to store their content on.

Tones is the new name for Ringtones. If the entry is missing in the left-hand column of iTunes then enable it from Edit > Preferences > General tab.
If your existing tones are not syncing properly to your iOS device then uncheck the option to Sync Tones from the Tones tab when the device is connected, sync the device, check the option and sync again.

Call Apple anyway. If the device was ever registered with then they will have the serial # on file and can look you up by other info such as your name or phone number.
To re-enable an iPad any computer with iTunes should work. However, if your data was not backed up to iCloud you will not be able to access it until you get back to your home computer.

You can unlock it on another computer though the content will be wiped and I think that you need to put it into DFU mode e.g. see post https://discussions.apple.com/message/15385719#15385719 in thread https://discussions.apple.com/message/15385641#15385641 .

Just let the battery drain until the screen shuts off. When you charge it back up it should boot up normally.

I have not had a computer for several years and I just got a new one. My old computer got a virus and when that happened all my music was lost. Thank goodness I had it all on my Ipod Nano 2nd GEN. They don't have the music on their computer so they cannot transfer the iTunes folder, from the computer to their iPod and then to the new computer. And if they try to enable disk use on the iPod it will erase all the music that is on it. The method you cited is moving the files in a data format using the iPod as a flash drive. It doesn't work if they are in music format. That is why I suggested Yamipod.

New purchases not syncing to iphone iTunes 11.0

I recently bought an album and I'd like to get that album on my iPhone 4S. For some reason, it refuses to sync it to the phone. When I browse through the music on my phone via iTunes, it shows the music in a playlist I created, but each song has a dotted circle next to the title. Any thoughts? I've restarted, rebooted, etc. This doesn't happen with other music.

I have the files on my computer, icloud should have nothing to do with it. I'm not sure what happened, but I saved it as a lower quality mp3 and now it syncs. I forgot to add that it was originally on my phone after I purchased it on my computer. Only after I upgraded to iTunes 11 did this problem occur.
