New to Mac and iWeb, was use to Dreamweaver on a PC

Hi All
I am a newbie to Macs, I have been publishing my web site via Dreamweaver for a few years. I have seen the iWeb application on my Mac but for the life of me I can not see how I can import my site to the iWeb application and publish from here, from now on.
Hopefully I can then just use the Apple applications instead of having loads of different applications on here.
After looking over all the menu options I found nothing to help me out on the above, I can see that you can create a .Mac account... I am not sure why I would need this when I already have various accounts for hosting companies.
Does anyone know the easiest way to I can add a message board to my site and let people send me files to my email, I understand I will need CGI scripts or something like that, just wondered if there was any easier tools...???
Would be great if I could get a little advise.

Not sure if I made it clear or not.
My web pages (folder/directory) has been copied to my Mac. I cant see how I can open/import my site so that I can view/edit/republish my site using iWeb from now on.

  • Wow,  newer to macs and could really use some help!

    Heres the problem I have...
    a while ago (november?) my power mac g4 dedided it no longer wanted an OS on it, so it pooped out tiger and was a very heavy paper wieght. I have no idea how this happened, or why... all I know is that I bought it without disks to put it back on.
    recently I bought a universal version of OS X tiger 10.4.3 and planned on putting it on. when I get to the screen of selecting a HD to put it on, the one I have comes up unable to have it be used. I know it has to deal something with formating or something... the error I get is
    "Youc can not install Mac OS X on this volume. Mac OS X cannot start up from the volume."
    could someone walk me through STEP BY STEP of what I need to do and what choices I should pick so I can get my single HD to actually.. work?

    Boot with the install disk, select your language, and, when the file menu pops up, select Utilities->Disk Utility, select the HD, click on the erase tab, format it Mac OS Extended, select install OS 9 drivers if the machine can boot from OS 9 and you have the OS 9 install disks, and click on erase. Quit Disk Utility and continue the installation. If that works, you're finished.
    BTW, I strongly suggest that you get the disks that shipped with the machine from the seller or call 1-800-MY-APPLE and get replacement disks.

    Can I use iWeb with third party CSS? We have bought a set of pre-configured CSS web templates for our business, and would like to use iWeb's ease of use to manage and update, but can not seem to find a way for iWeb to recognize them.

  • New to mac and iweb, starting point?

    hi good people, never created a website before so does someone have a list of things to do and in what order etc, its a business site i will create, i have a domain but no host yet, its best to avoid mm by all accounts. As i am in the UK so is there a good host with good support that people recommend? My domain is with Daily who seem good but i don't really no. should i have a linux package?
    I purchased a couple of ebooks, iwebfaq & iweb4business but at this stage they seem a bit daunting and they seem to go very deep into tech jargon before explaining the basics and where to start, but no doubt they will prove to be very reference in good time.
    Now whats the first things to do.
    Anyone got a checklist or something similar?

  • Hi,new to macs and just purchased a macbook Air,was wondering if anyone uses Microsoft Office on their macs and if it works exactly the same as on a windows based computer.

    The Windows and Mac versions of Office are not exactly the same but few people will notice the differences between Word, Excel and PowerPoint unless they are macro gurus. Outlook is different and the Mac version doesn't include Access or Publisher.

  • New to Mac and I am looking for a good app to process labels for envelopes. Used to use the Printmaster program on the PC side.  Wondering if "Pages" Iis the correct program to buy of is there another option. Thank you.

    The Contacts application will print envelopes and is already on your iMac. See this Apple article for information on how to do it.

    Open iTunes with your iPad connected.  It should be listed in the Devices section of iTunes sidebar.  Select it.  You should now see a window with several tabs across the top.  You configure what you want synced under each tab, then sync.
    You can download a PDF or iBook version of the user guide here.  It contains detailed instructions on using the iPad, so I recommend you read it.

    If your Mac and PC are connected by Ethernet, unplug and plug that cable again. If not, you have to turn off the MacBook by holding the Power button.
    In the next startup, try to transfer your files again. It's important not to interrupt the transfer process, because in most cases, you will stop it and you won't be able to resume it

    Formatting will erase the drive.
    You need to copy the photo's to either your old computer, the Mac Mini or to a new external drive and then decide what to do with your existing external drive.
    For example: You could use one External drive for Photo's and one external drive for Time Machine to backup both your Mac Mini and the Photo drive.

What's I'm trying to do is take 20 cells in a column,  find the 10 lowest numbers, then get the average and after that multiply it by .96  I used to use Excel and the formula worked fine in that. Here is my Formula
    =(average(small(H201:H220,{1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10})))*.96
    This formula worked in Excel and when I converted my spreadsheet over to Numbers, this formula no longer works.
    The best that I have been able to do so far is use small in 10 different cells, then get the average of the 10 cells and finally multiply that average by .96  So instead of using 1 cell, I'm using 12 cells to get my answer.
    This is a formula that I will be using all the time. The next cell would be =(average(small(H202:H221,{1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10})))*.96
    Hoping I explain myself well enough and that someone can help me.

    You can still do it in one cell but it will be more unruly than the Excel array formula.
    =average(small(H201:H220,1),small(H201:H220,2),small(H201:H220,3),...,small(H201:H220,10))*0.96
    where you would, of course, replace the "..." with the remaining six SMALL functions.

    Please read this whole message before doing anything.
    This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    The purpose of this test is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account. Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
    While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
    Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
    After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
    *Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault in OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The "Guest User" login created by "Find My Mac" is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.

    It depends on how you installed it. You have to shutdown the MySQL service first. If you used the standard, but obsolete Startup Item, you can do that with the Startup Item. If you created a launchd script, you can do it with launchctl. Once MySQL is no longer running, you can delete the Startup Item or launchd script and the rest of MySQL.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    That's really a question for you to answer yourself, changing an email address may not be the best of ideas if it's well known to others. On the other hand iCloud mail is an IMAP account (it syncs between devices) which may be an advantage if your current address is just a POP account.
    I use my iCloud address for secondary mail in conjunction with my main address.
