Newbe Flash Lite 2.0 developer

Hey
I just bought a new phone, a nokia 6110 and saw that it had
Flash Lite 2.0 pre-installed. I have done some Flash development
before in Flex for as3.0. I have been reading up on Flash Lite 2.0
and it seams like it's equal to Flash 7? Also when the new Flash
Lite 3.0 is released is it gonna work on my phone?
Can I develop for Flash lite by just using as2.0 in the Flex
IDE or do I have to get and use Adobe Flash CS3? Is there a free
compiler than can compile for Flash Lite 2.0, similar to the free
Flex SDK?
Thanks
Zarathrusta

Flash Lite 2.0 is close to Flash 7 but not quite all features
(no FLV for example). Flash Lite also has a number of features
unique to mobile that are not part of the desktop PC player such as
device integration (fscommand2) and device video/sound.
A public beta developer version of Flash Lite 3.0 is
currently available for Nokia series 60 v3 phones only. I dont
recall the OS for 6110, you can check forum.nokia.com to find out
if this is a series 60 phone or not.
You can use any software tool that compiles to Flash 7
compatible SWF and run the SWF in the Flash Lite player. However,
there are special features of Flash Lite you can only develop for
using the Flash IDE. To my knowledge these are not yet part of
FlexIDE and other free compilers.
So if you want to experiment you should be able to use
FlexIDE and compile to Flash 7 or lower for compatibility with
Flash Lite 2.0 player. But for a commercial level releases you
should consider using the Flash Lite IDE and Device Central for
emulation and publishing.

  • Flash Lite Apps on TV devices

    Hello,
    I'm a Flash/flex newbie and maybe this isn't the right forum for my question, if this is so please tell me where i should post my question.
    I want to develop an interactive Flash Lite application (I suppose with Flex this isn't possible) that can run on TV devices (e.g. Sony Bravia, ...). By interactive I mean that a consumer can interact with the application by using the remote control (e.g. enter numbers, ...).
    My first question is Flash Lite meant for developing this kind of application?
    My second question how can such an application be deployed on multiple TV devices (I suppose using a kind of set-top boxes connected to a server that on its turn is connected to networking devices, switch firewall, with xDSL)? If I need to use a set-top box what kind of set-top box do i need for this since I want broadcast these apps myself and not via an operator?
    Thanks for any help on this.
    Kind regards,
    Guy

    Based on current press releases the initial hardware will run Flash Lite 3.1 which does not support AS3 or the Flex Framework.  Adobe has plans to release a new version in 2010 that has Flash Player 10 support.
    My first question is Flash Lite meant for developing this kind of application?
    Yes.
    My second question how can such an application be deployed on multiple TV devices?
    This information is not currently available. The process will most likely be similar to the current mobile distribution: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/distributableplayer/
    If I need to use a set-top box what kind of set-top box do i need?
    The hardware is not currently available. Vizio plans to release two TVs with hardware support: http://cnettv.cnet.com/vizio-vf552xvt-sv472xvt/9742-1_53-50075277.html

  • Flash Lite 2.1 install on Nokia E50

    Just did a Flash Lite 2.1 install on Nokia E50 after I
    downloaded flashlite2_1_symbian_s60V3 and it installed apparently
    fine with Nokia installer. However any .swf with test content
    published to Device Central gets a corrupted file message after I
    try run the .swf on the E50. The docs say the E50 should be
    supported by this Flashlite version above.
    Any ideas?
    thanks

    Alessandro,
    Yes, I see now another Flash Lite 2.1 player installed not
    under media but under menu. Starting it allows me to browse my
    Flash Lite 2.1 files and they display fine.
    Next up, I must try to get Flash Lite 3, but developer
    applications for Flash Lite 3
    have closed afaik. Does anybody know where/when/if/how a
    Symbian edition Flash Lite 3 player can be got to test on a Flash
    Lite 2.1 player phone?
    thanks again!

  • Flash Lite 1.1 swf's Do Not Embed Fonts

    For some reason, dynamic text fields do not work on CS3 when
    publishing Flash Lite 1.1 content and using an embedded font
    (rather than device fonts). I am certain that I am doing things
    correctly (bitmap text, embedding fonts, etc.), because I verified
    that the files work perfectly with the Flash 8 compiler.
    To be more direct, a Flash Lite 1.1 swf in Flash 8 will have
    perfect dynamic text with a custom font. When I open and publish
    the same .fla in DC and CS3, the text fields appear empty--as if
    the font is not being embedded. When publishing from CS3, the fonts
    also do not work on devices. When publishing (the same fla) using
    Flash 8, the fonts work in the emulator and on devices.
    Any help with this would be MUCH appreciated. Right now I am
    bound to Flash 8 for Flash Lite 1.1 development.

  • Need specific information about Flash Lite

    Hello there,
    I'm interested in developing mobile applications for PDA's.
    My focus goes to Flash Lite, but I have a few questions - may be
    you can help me out - Wikipedia didn't :)
    1. How wide is spread Flash Lite? (heard that most
    installations are in far east (e.g. Japan) - in other words:
    2. Is there a map available, where I can see the circulation
    in countries? (need infos about Europe)
    3. What are the disadvantages on Flash Lite, even the
    developer problems?
    4. What sites do you recommend about Flash Lite?
    5. Do you know a - I call it - fact list - not from the
    vendor please :)
    6. Can I draw charts easily with FL?
    7. Can I process XML-Data with FL?
    I think thats all for the moment. I'm really interested in
    developing mobile applications, so now I'm trying to evaluate the
    possibilities. Java is not the right choice for Pocket PC. Another
    choice would be PythonCE. But I think the better choice is Flash
    Lite. I think, so...
    ... but I'm not sure.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    If you are using Flash Charts version 3.3, as generated via the 'Create Page' and 'Create Regions' wizards in Oracle Application Express, you would need to use custom XML. To add a title to your chart legend:
    NOTE: To check the version of charts you are using, simply right-click on the chart to view the version information.
    1. Edit the page with your flash Chart, and edit the Chart region.
    2. On the Chart Attributes page of the chart, set "Use Custom XML" to Yes. This action will enable the "Custom XML" text area.
    3. In the "Custom XML" text area scroll down to the section of XML where you see your legend information, within <legend> tags
    e.g.
    <legend enabled="yes" x="20" y="20">
    <names enabled="yes">
    </names>
    <values enabled="no"/>
    <scroller enabled="no"/>
    *<header enabled="no"/>*
    <background alpha="0"/>
    </legend>
    4. To add a title to your chart, you will need to change the line that I have highlighted in bold text in step 3, i.e. *<header enabled="no"/>*. Replace this line with the following:
    <header names="TECH">
    So now your legend XML should look like the following:
    <legend enabled="yes" x="20" y="20">
    <names enabled="yes">
    </names>
    <values enabled="no"/>
    <scroller enabled="no"/>
    *<header names="TECH">*
    <background alpha="0"/>
    </legend>
    5. Click Apply Changes, and run the page. Your legend should now have the title "TECH".
    I hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Hilary

  • Flash Lite 2.1 error on Windows Mobile

    Haven't been able to find much info on this error when using Flash Lite 2.1 in either IE Mobile or Opera Mobile:
    "flash lite 2.1 for windows mobile 5 will support flash 7 content authored for mobile devices only"
    I'm using CS5 and publishing the SWF as Flash Lite 2.1 with Action Script 2.0. When I run it through the Device Central emulator I get this output:
    Flash version of "lite2_player.swf" is Flash Lite 2.x
    Dimensions of "lite2_player.swf" are 240 x 200 px
    Is there something else I need to do to make sure the swf is "authored for mobile devices"?

    I have tried installing Flash Lite 3.1 developer edition (but all I get when installing is version 3.0.1(0) on installation. Also not showing in my application folder.
    So I download Adobe Distributable Player 1.1 (from: http://www.flashmobileblog.com/2009/06/18/distributable-player-exansion-29-countries/ and http://www.flashmobileblog.com/2009/06/11/adobe-mobile-packager-1-1/)
    Finally get it installed (SDK and perl 100%)
    So load the "unsigned" SIS file on my phone via Nokia PC Suite
    Run Application
    Needs to connect to Internet (Internet.GRPS access point) to check version
    FAIL.
    At this stage I am not happy with Adobe. I follow all the steps, know that my country is listed, have all the right software installed and NOTHING.
    Please explain to me what else I can do to get a working applicaiton on my N95 8Gb on Vodacom network in South Africa?

    Hi Mucatron
    I did download you fanbase applicaiton.
    Ok here are the messages I get
    1) Open Application:  fanbase needs Adobe Flash Lite to run. Continue?
    2) Adobe Version Checker - Internet.GRPS (default Vodacom APN)
    3) Sorry Adobe Flash Lite is not Available for this device
    I have a Nokia N95 8GB
    V31.0.015
    07-11-08
    RM-320
    I also downloaded the application from here http://download.macromedia.com/pub/labs/distributableplayer/distributableplayer_flashlite_ s60_en.sis and installed via Nokia PC Suite
    It shows version 3.0.1(0) when installing, BUT I can't find where it installed to (not under applications)
    So I can't manually load any new SWF files.
    Please give me more advice please?

  • [Apps] Name Card Application developed using Adobe AIR and Adobe Flash Lite

    An University student currently undergoing his research
    project had developed this application in order to help him with
    his research project. Please kindly try the application and take
    the survey form provided at the bottom of this message.
    This application allows you to store name card details. The
    application compromise of both PC (Windows / Mac) and a mobile
    phone component. Users will be entering the name cards information
    using the PC component and he will be sending it to the phone. The
    phone component will read the data created by the user and display
    it accordingly.
    This application requires Adobe AIR and Adobe Flash Lite to
    work.

  • I need to download Flash Lite to develop mobile apps...

    I can't find the link for downloading Flash Lite, may anyone help me please ? I will appreciate it, thanks in advance,

    You can get the Flash Lite Player
    http://www.adobe.com/support/flash/downloads.html
    Search for "Get the Flash Lite Player" here.
    Although, to develop application you might not need the player installer, instead you would need the profile in the Flash IDE which is also available in the same page for Flash 8. For higher versions of Flash you can download the profile to Flash IDE using the update manager.

  • Tools for Flash Lite 3 development.

    I'm new to flash development. So i'm looking for tools to start development for flash lite 3 (i'm not interested in 4th version).
    There are a loot tools available:
    * Flash Pro CS 5
    * Flash Builder 4
    * Flex SDK?
    What is the best option to start?

    Hi,
    You can't handle them. Its the default behavior from FL.
    You can use KuneriLite or SWF2Go+PyS60 or APIBridge for loading external resources and checking for errors.
    Best,

  • Building RSS Reader in Flash Lite?

    Hi there,
    I'm looking to build an RSS Reader in Flash Lite.
    I want to take a feed provived by FeedBurner.
    I'm a relative newbie to Flash Development.  Does anyone have any pointers on where to start or any good tutorials to kick me off?
    Cheers

    You should use the trace() function to see what values your code is processing for the loaded data.  Looking at the rss file itself it does not appear to be consistent with its structure, so you might need to check that out as well.

  • Getting Big Headache, What is difference between Flash Lite 3.1 and Flash Player 7

    Hello, I am asking questions about the two similar yet different programs for Pocket PC version only:
    1) Which came first, Flash Lite 3.1 or Flash Player 7?
    2) If I have both in my Pocket PC, will there be product incompatibility?
    3) What is the difference between Flash Lite 3.1 and Flash Player 7.
    4) I have a Flash Lite 3.1 but uninstall information says "Flash Lite 3.1 for Opera Mobile", did you releaase this? Is this an illegal copy? A developer's copy?
    *I don't know exactly where I got it, but I got it from the HTC developer's forum: XDA-developers.com
    *I also use Opera mobile, a web browser for Pocket PC's.
    5) What is difference between Flash Lite 3.1 and Flash Lite 3.1 for Opera? Is the only difference is that Flash Lite Supports everything flash related, while Flash Lite Opera supports only flash in opera?
    Hi, I don't expect all answers, but I hope someone or someone from adobe support can clear some things up for me.

    The program under my "remove programs" list is specifically called "Adobe Flash Lite for Opera". The XDA forums people said along time ago that it was Flash Lite, and kept calling it Flash Lite, and not Flash Player 7.
    Now what about this:
    http://www.adobe.com/products/flashlite/version/
    The table shows the differences between FP 7 SDK, FL 2.1, and FL 3.1. And it's quite obvious that FL 3.1 has way more features than Flash Player 7. What does SDK mean? And why are you telling me FP 7 has more features?
    With this information, can you or anyone else provide any more details and clarification?
