Nightly build failure is not making BUG work item on test failure

Hello,
We are using VSO for everything and builds are handled through our own build server.
Everything is working fine however for all nightly builds, when they fail on tests (the whole point of nightly builds), it is not generating a new bug.
There are no errors that I can see on build result even on the diagnostic logging verbosity.
What I see is that, it never gets into section to generate work item on build failure.
It does not even try to make a work item.
I tried several different settings as well.
Associate Changesets and Work Items: True or False [Final value True]
Label Sources: True or False [Final Value True]
Create Work Item on Failure: Always True

Hi Sseyaliglu,
Thanks for your post.

  • Can I just add a state to bug work item and not set the state to the workflow

     Hi,
    Based on my team, we need to add a state/states to the bug work item, just add the bug state, and let it displayed in the state dropdown list. We don't want to add the state to the workflow. Can I do that?
    Thanks,
    shmily

    Hi shmily,
    If you add a state for the bug in your work item definition file, you have to define the transition for the state. If not, when you change the state, the backlog page or task board will not display the work item correctly.
    Please check the links below for more information about workflow design guidelines and customization for work item type:

  • Sales document number not appearing in Work Item.

    Hello gurus,
         I have created a WorkFlow for approval of Sales order. My problem is, the sales document number is not appearing in the WorkItem for user decision task. I am passing container variable the sales document number in the Parameter1 of the User Decision task of the work flow. Value is populated correctly in the container variable for sales document number, but fails to appear in the work item content in SBWP.
         Please suggest a solution.
    Regards,
    Dnyanesh.

    Hello All,
         Thanks for your reply.
    I am passing the value of sales document number in parameter 1 of the standard task for approval as below.
    But in my Business Workplace I do not get the Sales document number. Below is the screenshot.

    Hi
    The user will receive the work-item in few cases only.
    1) Incase the manager has partially rejected the Document.
    2) Incase Buyer has made some changes to the Document.
    Hope this will help.

  • Latest nightly build create new component possible bug?

    hey guys... so i updated my flash builder to the latest nightlly build... and one of the things i discovered is that the "halo" namespace has been changed to "mx"
    I was wondering why when i create a new component the halo namespace apprears instead of the mx? do i just have to change that namespace manually??

    Hi,
    When you create projects, modules, components etc the headers are generated from template wizards, for instance I changed the project template so new porjects never have minwidth and minheight in their declaration.
    this is the project template - by removing ${min_size} I don't get those painful minwidth/minheight values
    ${xml_tag}
    <${application} ${xmlns}${wizard_attributes}${min_size}>
    ${wizard_tags}
    ${declarations}
    </${application}>
    I may be wrong but I think the variables are embedded in flashbuilder which means that ${xmlns} would be wrong for the new sdk but that doesn't stop you replacing the variable with the actual text you want to appear.
    David.

  • Build Failure Not Creating Work Items

    I am configuring nightly builds for our new TFS system (we migrated from VSS; using TFS 2013 Update 4).  I left the "Create work item on failure" set to True in the build configuration.  However, it seems that no work items are being
    created, or else I do not know how to find them.
    In the build log I see the line
    Create a bug for the build failure
    and it is not followed by any errors.  However, when I go into the Work area of the project (either through Visual Studio or a web browser) I do not see any work items.  I tried creating a new query and removing all filters, but nothing returns
    (we are not currently using Work Items for anything else).
    How do I find the work items it supposedly created, or if it is not creating them how do I get TFS to create them?

    Looks like this is failing with this message:
    TF30040: The database is not correctly configured. Contact your Team Foundation Server administrator.
    Specifically, it gets an access denied error when trying to call sp_send_dbmail.  Based on the Event Viewer on the server, it appears as though it is trying to execute sp_send_dbmail as my user, which does not have permissions to the proc.
    At the moment, there are several scenarios:
    1. Build fails, work item should be auto-created
    2. Work Item is manually created
    3. An alert is configured
    In scenario #1, the build fails, and no work item is created.  Event Logs on the server show that this is because the build service account does not have permissions to execute sp_send_dbmail.
    In scenario #2, I cannot create a work item because it is trying to send an email, though my user does not have permissions to execute sp_send_dbmail.
    In scenario #3, an email is sent.  I set up an alert to receive an email any time something is checked in.  I received said email.
    Is there a way to have this call made by some other user?  Or to disable the alerts altogether?

  • Transaltion in work item title not working consistently

    Hi,
    I am seeing a strange behaviour in SAP business workfplace with respect to the work item title (subject line) translation........................
    - Some prelimenary info : All work item translations for title (subject) and work item body are completly maintained
    - System : SAP ECC 6.0
    Problem being faced
    1. Workflow is trigerred by an user with English login and this generates a work item to the another users
    2. The work item receipent logs in in different langiage say german...................he then starts SBPW to check this work item
    3. The title of the work item appears in english while the same title which appears in the work item body also is shown in German (User log on language)..................
    4. The user displays (not execute) the work item........................The work item title is shown in in German.
    5. The user returns to the inbox and then the work item title changes to German language.........................
    Has any one encountered this problem.......................I looked for SAP notes but could not find any note suitable for this..........................
    I assume it is more a SBWP bug but want to gather some experience from this group
    Thanks
    Kiran

    Hi,
    This may happen due to the problem in language translation. Please maintain the language translation properly then test it agian.
    Pleae check the table HRS1206 where OTYPE = 'TS' and OBJID= 99000031 ( task number ) whether the multiple language translation is maintained or not. If not thenyou need to maintain through transaction SE63.
    Please visit below link for more details.

  • You are not a receiver of the work item in ESS Leave

    Hi,
    We are using standard ESS leave application in our portal, where employee can raise leave and his manager can approve/reject his leave. But I want in case manager rejects the leave, the rejected leave should not come into MSS UWL of employee, we will send a mail to employee and he can again login to ESS leave application and where he will see the rejected leave and he can re apply/change/delete  the rejected leave. We do not want rejected leave to come in UWL of employee as a work item.
    As of now when manager rejects the leave rejected leave of an employee , it is coming in UWL of the employee which we do not want, so what we did, we went to standard leave work flow template WS12300111, in that we double clicked on Task (TS12300116, Process Request by Employee) and in that  we clicked on agent assignment icon and than we clicked on attribute and we selected General forwarding not allowed radio button, by default general task radio button was selected.
    After selecting General forwarding not allowed radio button, even when manager rejects employee leave, rejected leave is not coming in UWL of employee which we want exactly, but another error is coming when employee goes to ESS leave application again and change or delete this rejected leave he is getting the error You are not a receiver of the work item .
    But if we select general task radio button in agent assignment in work flow , than eveything is working fine but employee is getting rejected leave in his UWL, that we do not want  at all, so why after selecting different radio button this error is coming ?
    Why employee is getting this error, why employee can not reapply/change his rejected leave. Is this portal error OR workflow error OR HR configuration error and  what is the solution for this..

    If you need this option then you need to change the WF Task.
    General Forwarding Not Allowed
    This indicator enables you to determine that work items for this task can only be forwarded to users who are agents for the task.
    If this indicator is not set, a work item for this task can be forwarded to all users.
    The best way to take care of User
    Forwaring authorization is the Task Classification (PFTC -> Additional
    Data -> Classification). Classify tasks with General Forwarding Not
    allowed, will give you the oppotunity to let the user allow to forward
    items JUST to the Possible Agents Assigned to the task
    (Additional Data -> Agent Assingment -> Maintain)...
    Clear that everything depends on How you have developed your workflows
    definitions. In that cases  the best think to do is
    create Different Tasks definition (TSxxxxxx) and let they start
    depending on Company Code (That can be driven via Conditions steps in
    the workjflow definition, for example). This will allow you to define
    Just the responsible Agents per each task, depending on the Companny
    Code. This definitively Resolve the Forwarding frelated Question.

  • Work Items are not pulled from SRM into SAP Fiori

    Hi Friends,
    We are using Application controlled workflow in SAP SRM. As Fiori won't support application controlled workflow, I have followed the guide to configure the task as custom workflow in scenario definition. But its not pulling the work item from SRM in Fiori tile. My tile shows 0.
    When I  click on the same to go in, I am getting the below error.
    A problem occurred while reading the data
    Check the URL parameters and the scenario definition. To check the scenario definition, go to customizing for SAP NetWeaver Gateway and choose SAP NetWeaver -> Gateway Service Enablement -> Content -> Task Gateway Service -> Scenario Definition.

    Hi Sasi,
    It would not be possible to use application controlled workflow with SAP Fiori approve shopping cart app. Please refer note 1962663 for more details on SAP Fiori approve shopping cart app.

  • ERMS : Email work items not getting created

    Hi Forum
    In my test system (CRM 2007), inbound mails were properly coming in and getting distributed to agent's inbox. But after the server restart, I realised that the work items for inbound mails stopped getting created due to which mails are not reaching agent's inbox.
    Mails are visible in SOIN but their associated Work items are not there in SWI1.
    I have checked almost all the settings like Email Distribution (SO28), CRM_ERMS_WF_CUST (Event lining is in place and is active), swu0 (Event simulation is working).... but still not sure why work items are not getting created for inbound mails.
    Any thoughts ? Help will be deeply appreciated.
    Regards
    Vishal Mani

    Thanks Bruno for your time to reply !
    I checked this transaction and in overview there are 19 events with errors. But apart from that everything is green.
    I checked the Linkages with Error tab and realised that the events with errors belong to object type BUS1006.
    In Activation tab --> Linkages --> Object type (ERMSSUPRT2) --> Linkage is activated.
    Infact that is the first thing, I checked when work items were not getting created.
    So no clue from here too.

  • Work item display for step : Deadline Missed

    Hi,
    Parked invoices for one of the vendor is not triggering the work item in the workflow inbox.
    But the status is showing as complete. Appreciate if provide guidance how to analyse the issue.
    The message is read as below:
    Deadline Missed: Invoice# 5106117758 PO# 4567819 Vendor# 10300
    Work item display for step " Deadline Missed: Invoice# 5106117758 PO# 4567819 V " called...
    Message no. WL223
    Thank you

    Hello,
    "i looked in SWI1 to see who processed it. But it is not showing any parituclar agent name. "
    Maybe nobody has process it, which is why it went overdue and passed the deadline.
    If it's a dialog task and it's completed then there must be an agent attached to it.
    Look in the workflow builder to see how the deadline is set up for that step. It could be that it just issues a notification.

  • Create One-to-Many Work Item Links Programmatically in TFS 2013

    Hello,
    I urgently require some help with this problem please.
    I have a number of existing work item types - for illustration purposes, let's call them Work Item Parents and Work Item Children. Remaining details are as follows:
    I have thousands of Work Items of type Parents
    I have hundreds of Work Items of type Children
    The Work Item Parents have a One to Many relationship with the Work Item Children
    Both Work Item types have already been added to TFS and we now need to associate or link Parent items with their corresponding Child items.
    Due to the sheer number of items described above, linking the  Parent items with their respective Child items would be a complete "No-No" as it could take forever to complete and would be prone to error.
    What I'm therefore seeking is the ability to programmatically associate or link the two work item types where required.
    Any advice on how to achieve this would therefore be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.
    PS: The link type between my work item types do not necessarily have to be of a Parent-Child relationship. "Related" work items will do just fine.

    Hi RegManteaw,
    Thanks for your reply.
    We can get the wanted Bug work items and Task work items using
    WorkItemCollection, you should use the logic code to handle which Task work items linked to which Bug work item. For example, I defined 5 Bug work items within “b1” tag, and 10 Task work items within “t1” in my test
    team project, then I run the below code snippet to get that Bug/Task work items and link 2 Task work items to one Bug work item.
    TfsTeamProjectCollection tfs =
    new
    TfsTeamProjectCollection(new
    Uri("collectionURL"));
    tfs.EnsureAuthenticated();
    WorkItemStore workitemstore = tfs.GetService<WorkItemStore>();
    try
    // get “b1” bug work items(5) from test team project
    string wiql =
    "SELECT [System.Id] FROM WorkItems WHERE [System.TeamProject] = 'teamprojectname'
    AND  [System.WorkItemType] = 'Bug'  AND
    [System.Tags] CONTAINS 'b1'";
    WorkItemCollection Bwic = workitemstore.Query(wiql);
    // get “t1” task work items(10) from test team project
    string wiql2 =
    "SELECT [System.Id] FROM WorkItems WHERE [System.TeamProject] = 'teamprojectname'
    AND  [System.WorkItemType] = 'Task' AND
    [System.Tags] CONTAINS 't1'";
    WorkItemCollection Twic = workitemstore.Query(wiql2);
    //two task work items linked to one bug work item
    for(int
    i =0;i<=4;i++)
    //define the link type
    WorkItemLinkTypeEnd linkTypeEnd = workitemstore.WorkItemLinkTypes.LinkTypeEnds["Related"];
    //link first task to bug
    Bwic[i].Links.Add(new
    RelatedLink(linkTypeEnd, Twic[(i * 2)].Id));
             Bwic[i].Save();
    //link second task to bug
    Bwic[i].Links.Add(new
    RelatedLink(linkTypeEnd, Twic[(i * 2 + 1)].Id));
    Bwic[i].Save();
    catch(Exception
    e)
    Console.WriteLine(e.Message);

  • Link work items across collections, TFS 2012

    Hello,
    Is it possible to link work items across collections?  We have items reported in one collection which are triaged, routed to the correct department where a new bug is opened in the corresponding collection, then closed in the original collection.  We
    would like to have a direct link between the 2 items.  Is there an existing way to do this?
    Thanks

    Hi Ajn,ny,
    Thanks for your post.
    As EIKort said, TFS not support link work items in different collections. You need create new bug in the same collection, then create link between work items.
