No audio: Exporting to either .wmv or .flv with PE7

I have tested my video on several different PCs and at least one Mac with no issues. I would prefer that my video be .flv because it is on the Web at www.centricityportal.com. I just found out that my boss and a coworker are able to see the flv video, but no audio. I sent them a .wmv as a test and they were not able to hear that audio either. My coworker found a .wmv file on a Web site and the video/audio played fine. Both are able to go to youtube and play back videos, so I don't understand what is special about my video that they can't hear the audio. I'm new to non-linear editing, so I'm looking at things like the problem being a codec issue. I tried exporting to numerous Windows codecs to no avail. Right now I'm just experimenting with .wmv because it seems like less of a headache to test. To make matters worse, I watched my video on a cheap netbook and it won't play the audio either.
These videos are going to be viewed from numerous operating systems that I won't have control of. Can someone give me some advice as to how I should be exporting my video so that the audio is heard by the marjority of Web folks? Thanks in advance for your help.

I tried several suggestions and I am still not able to get audio to play and I do not want to guess if the end users have the right codecs because I will have no control over them. I am certain that they are able to hear and view youtube videos as I have one of the offending netbooks at my disposal now. It was manufactured within the past year and it seems reasonable that it should work without any special codec downloads. I'm beginning to think I'm skipping something in the process. Can my procedures be looked at below and let me know if you are able to hear and see the video? Please let me know if I'm skipping something vital here. Thanks!
Sharing file from PE7 as FLV | F4V. Using Sorenson Spark Codec. There is no other choice for Audio Codec, other than MPEG Layer III (MP3). Outputting stereo with bitrate at 96 kbps. Choosing FLV format. I'm making sure the Export Audio and Export Video are checked.
Using DW CS4, creating standard html page. Insert media and choosing FLV. When prompted, choosing Halo Skin 3. Uploading the automatically created file FLVPlayer_Progressive.swf, the automatically created file Halo_Skin_3.swf, the FLV file and video.html. The four files are uploaded to the server in the same folder. I also noticed that expressInstall.swf and swfobject_modified.js files were created by DW in my scripts folder, so I made sure those were uploaded to the server too.
I tested the video from the location below with two PCs I use for work and have no problems. The netbook and my boss's PC do not hear any audio. Is there anything else I'm supposed to be doing? Thanks!

  • Export from AF CS5 to FLV with Cuepoint

    Hello!
    In After Effects CS3 I exported a movie 622x350 to FLV with cuepoints, and it was small,
    now after I upgraded to CS5 and export the same file again is't three time larger.
    I do exactly the same as before.
    Could it be because the upgrade?
    Is there a new plugin that I can take home.
    Thanks!

    Hello!
    Thanks for the reply.
    Have tried what you said but there was no difference.
    Found only in two places where I could shut off the XMP metadata;
    it was under Pref. Media & Disk Cache and the Output Module Settings.

  • Problem Encoding WMV to FLV with Media Encoder CS4 (but not with CS3)

    Hello,
    I have been attempting to encode some WMV files with Flash Media Encoder CS4 (I have Adobe Creative Suite CS4 installed) but it has failed, generating this error:
    - Source File: C:\Documents and Settings\usf\Desktop\incoming\ch01.wmv
    - Output File: C:\Documents and Settings\usf\Desktop\incoming\ch01_3.flv
    - Preset Used: Custom
    - Video: 624x343, Same as source [fps]
    - Audio: MPEG Layer III (MP3), 128 [kbps], Stereo
    - Bitrate: VBR, 400.00 [kbps]
    - Encoding Time: 00:06:36
    5/28/2010 11:26:16 AM : Encoding Failed
    Error compiling movie.
    Unknown error.
    On another computer where Adobe Media Encoder CS3 is installed (with Creative Suite CS3), I experience no such problem.  I do notice that when I add the WMV to Adobe Media Encoder CS3, it opens a window that prompts me to use "ffdshow", which will apparently work if it's configured to decode the file.  I click "OK" and start the queue in the encoder.  A few minutes later I get a successfully encoded FLV file.
    I have come to question whether Adobe Media Encoder CS4 should be re-installed, whether the entire Suite should re-installed, or if there is some patch or fix I can install somewhere.  Adobe Media Encoder CS4 is installed on my "production" computer which also has Adobe Premiere Pro (CS3) and Adobe Premiere Elements (7).
    Could use some advice here.
    Glen
    P.S.  the files will also not export to FLV using Adobe Premiere or Premiere elements...

    Again, the reason we are capturing with Windows Media Encoder is because we tried using Live Flash Encoder to capture directly into flash but our equipment wasn't fast enough and it was dropping frames all over the place.  We also don't have the space to capture into an uncompressed format because we don't have the available storage, and our events can be 8 hours long or more (each video is about 15 minutes, 20 or more videos)
    Ive listened to everything in my workflow and it sounds fine until the outputted FLV file from AME.
    WME is capturing at the following specs:
    160kbps 48KHz Windows Media Audio 9.2 codec (stereo) 1 pass CBR
    1800kbps 1 pass CBR video
    29.97 fps
    640x360 resolution
    buffer size: 5 seconds
    key frame interval: 8 seconds
    I have verified this with a codec info utility I ran on the wmv files.
    AME is encoding with the following specs:
    FLV Multiplexing
    On2 VP6 codec
    620x360 resolution
    800kbps 2 pass VBR
    100% undershoot at best quality
    160kbps stereo MP3 audio
    I verified the above with the same codec info utility (gspot 2.70a) and it is all acurate, it also told me that the audio is at 44.1KHz rather than 48 (there was no place to specify this, is this a limitatino of the VP6 codec?)
    Yes, these are our source assets.  They're being captured either through an XL2 via firewire, or from an analog program feed converted to firewire via a Canopus converter box.
    If anyone has any suggestions on how to get rid of this, or a different encoder (either to capture with rather low cpu resources, or to encode into flash) let me know.  I can provide a sample of the clipping if you need
    Thanks,
    Peter

  • Popping sounds when transcoding wmv to flv with media encoder

    Whenever I use adobe media to transcode a wmv file created in windows media encoder to a flash file, I get pops  in the audio track (similar to hissing bacon). The pops only occur during the begining of the video, when it's quiet and go away once the music or any loud noises begin. I did some research and found that it's a common problem when changing sample rates but the thing is that it doesn't happen on every conversion, and happens across multiple computers. We've tried it on Dell precision m65s (xp pro) as well as a Dell xps (vista 64bit) and a MacBook pro running xp pro in bootcamp. Here are the settings we use in windows media encoder: 1800kbps video 160kbps CBR audio at 48khz 640x360 resolution 29.97 fps keyframe: 8 seconds  And here are the settings we use in AME: flv multiplexing on2 vp6 codec 2 pass vbr at 800kbps "undershoot" at 100% (quality: best) mp3 audio at 160 Kbps we have found that these settings work best for our cdm (brightcove)   Again, it only happens at the begining of a video when it is quiet. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? Before anyone asks, the reason we don't capture it directly into flash with live flash media encoder is because the motion in our content causes the processor to peak resulting in dropped frames. When we get better equipment we will switch to live flash media encoder but until then we are stuck with windows media encoder.  Thanks, Peter

  • Converted wmv to FLV want to convert to swf or imbed FLV in site.

    I a'ready used CS5 Flash encoder to convert the WMV to flv swf and it's good quality, but I don't know how to make it work in a website.  It only plays in my video player, locally (before adding to the site).
    Is there special code (HTML) that will make it work ... or ... can someone send me instructions on how to conver to SWF.  I've inserted SWF's before and they work.
    I need to make sure I can "remove" the control bar.  It's a slide show for a website, don't want it to be interactive, in any way.  I also want it to loop and continue the loop when people go to another page on the site.
    I hope I'm not asking too much.  I've been able to achieve this with other software that is no longer current with todays technology.
    Appreciate you help.

    I would first open the web page you want the flash video to be on.  Next hit the PrtScn SysRq button on your keyboard.  This copies the web page to your clipboard.  Next open PhotoShop and hit Ctrl + N press Enter then press Ctrl + V and copy the image into the PhosoShop Document you just created.  Next with the magnify tool, zoom in on the image where the video is going to be.  If the borders are defined, make a selection around the area and adjust the dimension using Select - Transform Selection.  Once you have the selection accurately defined hit Ctrl + C then Ctrl + N.  The resulting dialog will give you the exact pixel dimension your Flash movie needs to fit into.  If everything fits, this will be the dimension of your Flash movie.  Open Flash and hit Ctrl + J. This will allolw you to re-size the SWF file that is exported from Flash.  Select the correct dimension and adjust the background color if necessary.  Save the Flash Document (FLA) and make sure the video file: flv or f4v is in the same folder. Go to File - Import- Import Video. Hit Browse, select the video and hit Open.  Follow the dialog and choose not to include the controls (None at the top of the drop-down)
    Here is the Action Script that makes the video loop:
    import fl.video.*;
    // Video component instance name
    var flvControl:FLVPlayback = video1;
    var flvSource:String = "etsy_matildas_march.f4v";
    // Loop the video when it completes
    function completeHandler1(event:VideoEvent):void
    flvControl.seek(0);
    flvControl.play()
    flvControl.addEventListener(VideoEvent.COMPLETE, completeHandler1);
    // Set video
    flvControl.source = flvSource;
    Publish the SWF from Flash and open the resulting html file in notepad.  Find the code in the Notepad file that looks like this:
    <div id="flashContent">
                <object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" width="720" height="440" id="index_2011" align="middle">

    Paste the code into the appropriate spot on the destination web page.  Either in a Table Cell (old school) or within a DIV contemporary CSS.
    Note that the first line that reads: <div id="flashContent"> relates to a CSS file associated with the page if there is one.  On the associated CSS file, the parameters will adjust alignment of the Flash movie on the destination HTML page.
    Also note that "loop" in the code just above only relates to the swf file NOT the FLV or F4V.  That's why you need to add the Action Script within Flash.  Be sure to give your video on the stage an instance name and it must match what's in the Action Script.  Also check the name and file path of your flv/f4v. It makes everything a lot easier if all of the associated files are in the same folder.

  • Multichannel Audio Export (.aif, .wav)

    Hi everyone, I just submitted a feature request and want to encourage anyone who would like this feature to do the same (or, if I've somehow missed a way to actually do it, to tell me how - I've searched extensively on here, Google, Creative Cow, etc. though and am positive it can't be done).
    I'll just paste what was in my request. Hope this is something that can be added in the very near future...
    Multichannel audio file export
    Ability to output .wav or .aif files with multiple channels.
    I work on a Mac, and we sometimes have to output multichannel audio files to send to clients for international distribution, specifically 4 channels (stereo mix L+R, music + effects L+R). The only way to do this out of Premiere/Media Encoder is as a quicktime .mov with no video. This isn't ideal as clients are requesting either .aif or .wav files.
    This ability exists in Compressor for .aiff files, but I'm trying to avoid going back to Apple's suite as much as possible. It's irritating to have to output audio files separately from Premiere then open up Final Cut and output to Compressor to get a final, proper 4-channel audio file.
    This is significant as we're looking to replace my computer soon and I'm pushing to go with a PC, where I'd no longer even have the option to go back into Compressor to do this.
    For the record I also tried doing this through Audition which ironically seems to have even fewer audio exporting options than Media Encoder. It seems like a really simple feature that is lacking for no apparent reason..please include it ASAP, thank you.
    Link to the feature request page: https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform
    For the record, I know that for all intents and purposes, the Quicktime .mov audio file works fine. But it's still a pain, doesn't open properly in some players, and dealing with clients who use different software (Avid in this case) and don't have much experience handling this type of stuff and are specifically requesting .wav or .aif/.aiff; it's not my place to be their tech support, it's mine to deliver what the client wants. And it seems ridiculous to me that Compressor supports this with ease but Premiere/AME don't...

    Hey Jim, are you on CC? I'm stuck on CS6 at work until we do a full hardware upgrade, they're waiting on real info on Maverick/new Mac Pro before making any decisions.
    If this is a feature of CC now well..foot in mouth, I guess. Would still be nice in CS6 though.. I notice in your screenshot the source sequence says "multichannel", in mine it says "16 channel".

  • CS4 export to.flv with Alpha dimensions problem?

    Hi-
    I am exporting an actress from a greenscreen shoot (original file 1920x1080p) That I want to put on a webpage.
    She is keyed well and I have got to the export stage.
    I have exported to flv. with alpha at various 16;9 dimensions (640x480etc) and that all works fine in Flash.
    However, the actress is in the middle of the frame and the transparency is all around. Can I make the window size square? 360x360?
    Therefor, cutting out some of the 'transparent' space either size and then ending up with a 360x360 file?
    thanks
    scott

    Scott,
    I do not have CS4, but believe that you can Crop your Export with FLV and the positioning should be centered. Remember, this is an assumption on my part.
    Good luck,

  • I am trying to export a video from Premiere Pro.  I have both audio and video checked and the sequence is active but only the audio exports.  There is no video at all.  Can anyone tell me how to get the video to export.  It was working fine until today.

    Premiere Pro CC has been working fine until today.  I have completed my sequence and it is active.  I have both audio and video checked when I am exporting using H.264 with Match Source Hi bitrate.  I am choosing entire sequence.  The audio exports but the video and title does not.  Can anyone tell me how to troubleshoot this so I can complete this project?  Please!

    Greetings,
    I've never seen this issue, and I handle many iPads, of all versions. WiFi issues are generally local to the WiFi router - they are not all of the same quality, range, immunity to interference, etc. You have distance, building construction, and the biggie - interference.
    At home, I use Apple routers, and have no issues with any of my WiFi enabled devices, computers, mobile devices, etc - even the lowly PeeCees. I have locations where I have Juniper Networks, as well as Aruba, and a few Netgears - all of them work as they should.
    The cheaper routers, Linksys, D-Link, Seimens home units, and many other no name devices have caused issues of various kinds, and even connectivity.
    I have no idea what Starbucks uses, but I always have a good connection, and I go there nearly every morning and get some work done, as well as play.
    You could try changing channels, 2.4 to 5 Gigs, changing locations of the router. I have had to do all of these at one time or another over the many years that I have been a Network Engineer.
    Good Luck - Cheers,
    M.

  • CS4 Audio Export Problem

    Hi
    I'm fairly new to CS4 and have picked up an audio export problem, more than likely with a setting of sorts. For some reason when I export to MPEG2 -DVD via the Media Encoder, the video portion is fine as well as any audio that has been placed and edited on tracks audio 1 and 2 in PP. However, if there is additional audio placed on tracks 3 or 4 for example (say a music MP3 overlay) then this does not come out ... only audio placed on tracks 1 and 2 in PP come out. I have checked the obvious like making sure the tracks aren't muted etc but to no avail. Also tried changing from PCM audio to MPEG ... Stereo to 5.1 mixdown ... nothing doing.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks and regards

    Thanks Harm ... got SnagIt and with a few helpful YouTube tutorials ... am in business. Hunt and John, also thanks ... the other method equally as good. Now, I have attempted to attach my screen shot which should display my CS4 timeline and associated audio monitor windows above. By the way, this was for a wedding and as indicated, you will notice an MP3 lying in audio track 3 which as mentioned is my problem as it is not audible after render via Media Encoder. But remember, the moment I slip this MP3 up into audio track 1 or 2 above ... problem solved. I know there must be something small like a setting gone wrong or incorrect. As mentioned, any help would greatly appreciated.
    Thanks to you all.

    How do I edit.

    Let me help getting your question back to something we might understand.
    - You are exporting your video AS .wmv
    and
    - when you export it, there are black bars left and right of the image.
    How do you fix?
    Ok - what was the format of the video prior to your exporting it? When you edited it in FCP, what were the sequence settings? That will help get the right settings for flip4mac.

  • Multichannel audio export in Premiere Pro CS 5

    Anyone know how to get a multichannel audio export from CS5 - I can find plenty of tutorials on CS6 or CC but not 5, which seems to have "16 Channel" as a sequence option (not "Multichannel") - and when it comes to export there is no Multichannel option - only Stereo, mono, or 5.1
    (I have 3 stereo tracks which I'd like to be able to export as 3 separate audio tracks contained within a quicktime file)

    Jim thanks for listening. The same file card XCAM removed, placed in timeline premiere CS4, appears the 4 separate mono audio channels, quabdo put in timeline premiere CS5.5, it arquivoMP4, so put a audio channel.

  • Exporting HD file to an .flv, aspect ratio is off

    I am trying to export from FCE a .mov file and transform it into an .flv for upload on a newspaper website (the only file type our creaky admin alllows). The footage was shot with a Canon Vixia HD AVCHD camera and brought into FCE at 1440 X 1080 and 29.97 fps. My usual workflow is to export it out as a master .mov vile and then take it into Streamclip or iSkysoft Video Converter and transform it into an .flv.
    But every time I do it, no matter what settings I tinker with, the output .flv file is clipped and footage on the screen is clipped on the right and left sides.Is it because HD video is 16:9 and the .flv size is 4:3? But I am only being offered 480-320, 640-480 and 1280-720 in export options for .flv with iSkysoft and frame rates from 20, 24, 12 an keep original frame rate. Tried these all and still getting the clippings.
    Any advice as once again I run up against the shoals of transcoding?
    Douglas

    I finally had to export the file as an .avi and then transcode it into an .flv using Flash Media Encoder, an old workflow and which produced a video with some artifacts and color issues. I am just getting used to shooting with the Canon Vixia and its HD files and any tips for outputting to better quality with an .flv format is most welcome:

    what is happening and how do I fix it?

    Often, when two programs in a suite are being used with one another, which forum to post to, can be a bit of a gray area. Those, who suggested the Au Forum, probably fixated on that part of the workflow.
    Had you posted here, there might well have been a few, who would have suggested the Au Forum.
    As the Au folk have not encountered this error, the PrPro Forum is probably the best place to be right now.
    Unfortunately, I have neither encountered that error, nor have I read of it, so I am of no use, other than to say that someone here will probably be able to get you some help.
    Now, I do agree that at the point in your workflow, where you are encountering the error, it probably IS a PrPro error.
    Good luck,
