No delay or reverb on export

I am using STP 1.0.3. When i export a mix, my mix is missing Mac OS DELAY and STP REVERB fx. Why? I have tried different bit rates, 24 and 16. Playback in STP is perfect, all fx are there and audible.
G5 Dual 1.8   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

I just followed Simon's instructions, and it worked.
Then I did the following:
- Dragged two more clips out onto the timeline in
track 2
- Added Delay to track 2
- Added Soundtrack Pro Reverb to tracks 1 and 2
- Export Mix
And the mix I exported sounds like it should with
reverb and delay on both tracks. I wonder what could
be causing this for you, Chad. I noticed you're on
1.03 and I've upgraded to Soundtrack Pro 1.1, so we
might not be comparing apples to apples.
I've got a friend with a Quad 2.5. I'll e-mail him
and ask him to try this test to see if the machine is
the problem.
hey Collings!
awesome that you are helping check this out!
try this... IMPORTANT detail... on a track that has MAC OS DELAY and STP REVERB make sure the sample has space in between... i.e. you drag a clip in... make it 1 seconds then skip 1 second (blank space in the track) then have the clip again. What STP should do is... once a clip ends it should continue the effect (delay in this case) however long it needs to, you could make the DELAY 2 seconds and even though the clip ends at 1 second the delay continues.

  • Plugin Delay Compensation, reverb busses & film scoring?

    Hello,
When I score a film, the first thing I do is make sure the window burn time code in the film & Logic's time code are in sync for the cue I'm about to write in Logics sync settings. Once set, everything lines up perfectly when jumping around with the SPL. HOWEVER, as soon as I push play in the sequence, the movie will jump back a split second and then play, making the window burn and logics time code out of sync.
I discovered the reason this happens is plugin delay compensation for the reverbs I have on busses (I use UAD Dream Verbs on busses to save on CPU when composing to film). When I turn off plugin delay compensation, the movie plays back perfectly in sync (no jumping back), however now all the parts that are busses to the reverbs are playing back late!
So I'm in a conundrum. I cant turn off PDC because I use reverbs on busses, yet I cant keep it on because I cant sync to the film. I've heard from others to use movie playback from another system, but I personally don't see how this will help, because the movie will still be syncing to Logic's time code, which will tell it to start early on playback for plugin delay compensation, right?
I dont mind the jumping back for PDC, the main problem is syncing to time code/hit points. If my SPL when play is stopped is not using plugin delay compensation, there is no way to place a marker or hit point, because whatever I see when play is stopped will be wrong on playback when PDC kicks in! I would think the only solution is logic needs to constantly use Plugin Delay compensation, even when nothing is playing back!
Is this a problem with Logic 7 only or does it exist in 8 too? How do other sequencers use PDC? Its weird that I dont hear more people having problems with this, as right now its a guessing game scoring a film and hoping my hit points/TC will sync up!
Thanks in advance for your help! Its greatly appreciated!

Perhaps I should just start using space designer? Does it suffer from the same PDC problems?
I personally haven't noticed any PDC issues with Space Designer, but if you do, you could always just use platinum verb to get a little wetness to the signal.
Perhaps I need to develop more "reverb imagination" skills and none of this would be a problem.
This may be a dangerous suggestion, but assuming you have a decent knowledge of the sound of a real orchestra, I would tend to compose with that in mind rather than exactly what your sample library sounds like. The goal, after you've done the bulk of the composing, is to try to get your library to sound as much like the real thing as you can. Remember, it wasn't all that long ago that film scores we composed with no MIDI at all, no immediate feedback on the sound of a motive, harmony etc. Obviously, if the end product is going to be in VIs instead of live instruments, you need to keep the sound of your library in mind. But ideally, you don't rely on hearing every little thing exactly as it will be on the track in order to compose. I know that's harder than it sounds, and I too am guilty of relying a bit too much on immediate feedback, but I think it's worth while. So rather than "reverb imagination," I'd suggest developing a better "instrument imagination," and let reverb be more of a finishing touch (albeit a very necessary one).
How do you deal with syncing back to the film? Sync pop & written time code sheet for when the pop occurs (without PDC of course)?
My methods for syncing back to film are much more basic than that. Firstly, I'd say most of the time I'm just sending audio tracks to the director with the SMPTE for the beginning of each track. If I am actually responsible for putting them together, I've just done it in iMovie, again, lining up each track with the SMPTE code for the film.
I should point out that I'm not exactly a pro at this (though I'm trying to get there), so someone else could probably offer better solutions.

  • Simple delay and reverb setup

    Hi,
I have assigned a knob in MainStage to control the volume of Aux/Bus 1 (Reverb). I want this knob to automatically do the same in other patches (like in Apple's templates) and I can't seem to find to do it (not on Concert or Set level, since it's always on then and it should be off when the Reverb effect is not send).
Any suggestions? I think it's a small thing I overlooked, but can't seem to find it :-/
    TIA,
    Jasper.

In version 1 of MainStage all the templates I have tried either come with no controls set up at all (there is a warning given as the template loads) or have one or more controls mapped at Concert Level. To see these, you will have to select Concert Level then click on an appropriate controller e.g. Output. This will then show you its path. If you select Output at any other level e.g. Patch, you should see the warning that "this item is mapped at the Concert Level"
Once a control is assigned at Concert Level it becomes unassignable at any lower level unless you select "Over ride". This means that if you have a volume control for Reverb on Bus 1 set to knob 15, every time you turn knob 15 it will change the Reverb volume on the patch you are currently using. It should do that only if one or more channel strips have been sent to Bus 1. If they haven't, then the knob should be inactive.
I think that this is what you are trying to describe.

  • How to export/use stereo guitar effects?

I have recorded on several Guitar Tracks . I used nice effects, like Dublin Delay & other preset guitar track setups. Delays and reverbs are usually stereo effects. But when I exported the tracks ( They are "stereo tracks", although of course recorded mono, from a single guitar) I noticed that both right and left channels are the same. So they are two exactly same mono files. How can I get stereo effects on guitar?

If you use an extreme stereo effect on your track, like a leslie for example, you should hear the difference. (I don't think you can see the result of a modest stereo effect in the waveform of your track).
One foolproof way to find out: Pan your track hard to the left or right and see if the exported file is dead center - which I can't imagine.
A possible reason for your export to sound "less stereo" is a setting in iTunes, like the "Sound Enhancement" option.

  • Logic playing delay effect from instruments at start of song PLEASE READ

    Hi there,
I have had this strange problem where when i bounce the song I get weird delay or reverb effects from one of the tracks/instruments that comes in at the begining of the track.
almost like the delay and reverb tail at the end of the track appears at the begining. can anyone explain why logic is doing this?

We were discussing this earlier, it has to do with Logic emptying it's buffers. A quick start stop should get rid of it...

  • Animation Delay`

    Hi,
I have a logo that I am animating here: http://agtdesigns.co.uk/logo.gif
Basically I want the man to spin inside the circle. However, on the last frame/state of the animation it appears to stop/delay before moving onto the next frame. To solve this I set the delay for the last state to 0. When palying back the animation in Fireworks it is perfectly smooth with no delay.
However when exporting the file the delay is still there, I have the 'include when exporting' option ticked for the last frame but it doesnt seem to be working.
I am using Fireworks CS5, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Nevermind, I realised I had a duplicate frame at the end.

  • SQLDeveloper - application without response after using export menu

    Hello,
I am using 1.2 newest version with SUN SDK 1.5.09 and XP-Prof (2GB RAM) at 10G.
After executing the sql-script the result data can not be exported. After using the right-click menu for export to CSV, EXCEL ... SQLDeveloper hangs for quit long time without any activity or resonse within the Task-manager of the OS. I have to quit the task of SQLdeveloper.
Running short result queries (~25 lines) the export function works fine.
Is there any parameter to set at startup of the program?
    With best regards
    Martin

Unfortunately, the running the query again on export bug (which is not dependent on type of export) is not fixed in the current EA1. With tracing on, exporting "select * from <table>" shows the following in the trace file:
    select * from <table>
    Parse x 1, Execute x 1, Fetch x 156 (7778 rows in chunks of 50)
    select * from ( select "COLUMN1","COLUMN2",...,"COLUMNn" from ( select * from <table> ) )
    Parse x 1, Execute x 1, Fetch x 1 (50 rows)
My guess (from 1.2 experience) is that this second query which only fetches once is run after selecting one of the export options and before the export dialog is displayed. If this first fetch takes five minutes, then there will be a five minute delay after selecting the export option, before the export dialog appearing.

  • FCP Video export/sync problems. HELP!

    Hi,
So i am using FCP 7.0.3. I have used it a fair bit.
However recently i am trying to re-cut an edit which my brother shot to make it shorter and edit out the less nice shots so i can upload it to a new website.
I editied, the already exported file, which was all fine. Then i watched back the finalised exported file and the video is completely out of sync with what it was showing me in the fcp playback viewer. Suprisinngly diffiucult to describe but basically its like the video file has a delay after it is exported and shows completely different shots to the ones i chose and it was showing in the edit timeline. I have no idea what to do, anyone had this before? Anything i can do about it? Obviously the first section of the video is fine as it plays from the start as its the original but after the first chunk i cut out and there after all the clips are different shots to those that it was showing in the edit...hope you understand.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers
    Toby

    Hi Micheal,
Thansk for the help but i checked the footage and its pro-res 422. Its also saying it is all 25fps...
    Any other ideas?!
I could reformat it and change conform it to 25 fps again anyway then re-cut it, maybe that would be worth trying?
    Cheers

  • Recording using Delay Designer

I am new to logic, so please forgive me if this is obvious. I am using Delay Designer to play with tape looping, using one if the simple infinite repeat presets. When I record i only get the exact notes that I am playing, not the delay sounds. I tried bouncing the track to audio but that didn't help, the same exact notes were recorded. On the same track i am using Space Designer and all of that information seems to be captured in the recording. Is there any way to do what I am trying to do? Or is Delay Deisgner only provided for performance in MainStage?

Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to this. You English is not at all the problem! I finally was able to make this work. It took me quite a while to realize that the volume knob next to the bus had to be up to get the aux track effects. Thanks alot, this is great to know and it got me going with using a bus.
But I still have the original question. Now I have three instrument tracks and I have recorded a set of staggered bits on each one. When I hit play I hear the delay and reverb effects just like I want. What I am still not getting is how to I record what that sounds like if I let it play for a full minute? Do I have to do some kind of routing to an audio track and record that for a full minute or something? I am not seeing how to do this.

  • Batch Processing, Reverb Tails & Video Tracks

Hi Adobe. Love Audition CS6 ! Good Stuff !
    But,
Really really need to be able to add the reverb and delay effect tails on to files while batch processing!
It's pretty much the only thing that stops me dead in my tracks while adding reverb and room ambience or any sort of delay effect on to vocals. Currently If I want to have anything with a reverb tail I need to manually add sielence to each file. when you have 1000s of variations this is not ideal.
A little tick box on the delay or reverb plugin would be awesome.
Also how come there is a limit to only 1 video per multi-track session? Protools does this too (unless you pay for the production toolkit) but Reaper and Ableton Live don't. This is a bit of a pain as sometimes your working to several videos and it's great to be able to do it all in the one session for the project.
I really don't understand this limitation.
A better system for arranging editing and renaming presets and favorites would be really cool too. It's a bit of a pain not being able to make category folders for those and put what you end up making related to projects in there. Or even build up a collection of good working types such as vocals, instrument settings ect...(Like iZotope Alloy does currently in it's preset manager)
I hope you consider these as options in a future release.
    Cheers !

    Hi,
yes, I know. But I am looking for a way how to automatize this task. I am talking about a thousands of short movies and I need to process their audiotracks. I don't want to do it manually ...

  • Latency/Delay is KILLING ME.

So for some time I've been having some serious problems with latency/delay issues and it has finally left my computer basically worthless for recording music. There has always been some delay, but it was never too difficult to just line up the regions where they needed to be in relation to the metronome or other instruments, but Garageband has now taken to trying to speed up in the middle of recording. So sometimes the beginning of an audio clip will be at the right speed but it will speed up a little into it and cause it to change pitch, which is how I know it's not just a mistake by the musician. This renders the clip worthless. And it's beginning to do this every time. I need help. Any ideas? Thank you so much.

It is near to impossible to record into one session and paste pieces into a new one. Even a small discrepancy could mess off your timing.
It is better to record one large session with multiple tracks. Even on my G4 iBook I have done up to 20 tracks without difficulty. Some pointers:
    1. If timing is exact through the song use a drum loop as a click track. You can use a metronome but a drum loop helps you 'get in the groove.' When all track are done you can delete or mute the click track.
    2. Record dry (no effects) so your timing can be exact. Delays and reverb can throw off your timing as well as be a strain on your processor if They are activated for many tracks. Some effects are heavy processor hitters
    3. Watch your playhead (the moving triangle) as you record. If it is always turning orange or red you are pushing your processor. It should remain white.
MacBooks and iBooks have special energy saver settings that drastically effect Garageband performance. Make sure your energy saver is not set to the 'best battery life' setting. You need the high performance setting to get the best from Garageband which is a processor hogging app.

  • Narration help

    Hi
I'm just starting to narrate one of my videos.  Is it normal for narration to come out only one speaker?  When I play back narration I'm only hearing it through my left speaker, while with footage and soundtracks I'm hearing sound from both speakers.  When I played with the balance in the timeline, I noticed if I moved the line to the bottom I don't get any sound at all but if I move the line to the top I am able to hear my narration through the left speaker.  Is this a problem with my mic?  Could somone advise how I can fix this if it's not normal?  I'm using PE4.
    Thanks
    M

    Maya,
In my case, I am almost always working in DD 5.1 SS in PrPro, and then doing my Audio Export through the Minnetonka Audio SurCode DD 5.1 SS plug-in (optional in PrPro only) to AC3 Audio. With that, I can locate my narration where ever I want in the Audio "stage." For the narration track, I locate most of the source to my Center channel (with DD 5.1 SS, one has L (front), R (front), Center, Ls (rear), Rs (rear) and LFE) with just a touch of it going to the Ls & Rs channels, usually with a hint of Delay Effect and Reverb Effect applied.
For narration, I always use a mono source from a hyper-cardiod (pickup pattern type) mic. This allows for two things: the pickup concentrates on the voice of the speaker and rejects ambient sounds and all off-axis sounds, and allows me the ability to pin-point the source.
With a stereo mic, the pickup patteren is spread more, and picks up more ambient signals, and then in the mix spreads the speaker's voice around the sound stage. I feel that narration should sound as though it's coming from a tightly defined source. The use of the Ls and Rs is only to expand the depth of the narration, as though the speaker was actually on the same "stage" as the performers/subjects, i.e. to mimmick room acoustics a bit. If the scene is taking place in a large auditorium, and I want it to sound like the narrator is actually there, I'll feed more signal to the Ls and Rs and add more Delay and Reverb. If I want the speaker to be totally detached from the action on screen, then I'll use the Center channel only. It depends on what I wish to accomplish.
Sorry that I was not clear in my response.
Looks like Steve has gotten you to the right spot to apply the Fill Left/Fill Right Audio Effects. If not, let us know and we'll point you to the right place.
    Good luck,

  • Low latency mode

    Hi,
I'm doing vocal recording now, facing latency problem. Finally i'm trying to apply the LOW LATENCY MODE ,it really solve the latency when press the Rec Enable button...but howevery i try to route with Aux or Bus(Vocalist required some reverbs while singing)...it doesn't work..and level meter didn't show any input signal on the Aux or Bus!!!
and when i apply the Low Latency from the Vocal track Send button...level meter become active on Aux or Bus but the LATENCY appear again even the Low Latency Mode i still ON it.
    What's my problem here...
    Urgent!!!!Thanks for helps...

the better setting in recording (with Motu device) is:
Don't use "low latency mode" (it is a logic 8 feuatures but it is not so useful)
    Sample buffer set to 256k
PDC set to Software and Instruments (avoid to use Aux or Multi instruments mode)
Reverbs and delay can be used on the Buss because latency on reverbs gives you a good predelay effect... (when PDC is set to All, usually, I use sample delay in reverber Buss in order to be able to have the same great reverbs sonds )
... PDC set to ALL gives you a lot of latency...
if you use Multi Instruments.. the better way is: (I never use Multi out instrument... i prefer to export as audio the parts!
    Bounce the instrumental parts...
open a new project, import the instrumental parts... set PCD to "Track and Instrument)
When Mixing .. mastering PDC must be set to ALL...
in every other situation (expecially in recording phase) "track and instruments" PDC setting is the better choice!
