No fringe in LR, Fringe in PS

No fringe shows in Lightroom (4.1) when I Edit In (Command +E) it comes into Photoshop with fringe.
When in Lightroom, if I Export as PSD no fringe.

Assuming that you use the latest ACR 6.7 (final) in Photoshop CS5: This is a known bug: http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/lightroom_4_1_rc2_artefacts_when_usi ng_shadows_clarity_and_image_warp_lens_corrections (other ACR 6.x versions do not show this, so I assume it is 6.7 final).
Unfortunately, there has been no bugfix for ACR 6.7 - Adobes official statement was that ACR 6.7 was the last ACR for CS5, so I assume it will never be fixed (ACR 6.7 was only an intermediate solution as long as PS CS6 was not released if I understand correctly). So it is only possible to upgrade to PS CS6 where the bug is fixed in ACR 7.1. Here is my question concerning this and another problem: http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/will_acr_6_7_really_be_the_last_acr_ version_for_ps_cs5.
If you don't want to upgrade, you can render the image in Lightroom. However, because the ACR-Version matches from Ligntrooms point of view, there is no dialog where you can switch to "render using LR" anymore *). You need to configure PS as an additional external editor preset and use that preset to edit in PS - then LR will render a TIFF/PSD on its own (with the disadvantage that the TIFF/PSD appears immediately.
Note: For Windows, an additional trick is needed: The external editor preset has to refer to a *copy* of the Photoshop executable, otherwise the preset will behave like the normal "Edit in PS...". I don't know whether or not that is necessary for Mac, too. You will have to try it out.
*) EDIT: At least this is how I remember it from LR 4.1 RC1/2 (currently, I use LR 4.1 final with PS CS6 and have uninstalled PS CS5 already). It could be that LR 4.1 final sees ACR 6.7 as incompatible, so you may have the chance to switch to "render using Lightroom" normally. Try to reset all warning dialogs in the preferences and then use the normal "Edit in PS...". If the compatibilty warning dialog appears, choose "render using Lightroom". If not, you have to resort to the external editor preset as I described above.

  • If the DroidX had a front camera how easy would it be to video call with Skype or Fringe?

Apparently EVO with Sprint you can video conference with Fringe but is this something that has to been done through WIFI?  I was ready to upgrade to the DroidX but I am wondering if I should hold off for the front camera.  I love using Skype video and it would be amazing to have this feature on the phone if it is an easy thing to do.
It would be greatly appreciated if someone is knowledgable about this information.
    Thank you!

Since that is a hypothetical situation (Droid X front camera), there is no real way to even guess how the carrier or manufacture would implement this feature because if you look at how other devices use this feature you notice that they are not implementing this feature the same way.  Also in regards to the EVO video calls is across the 4G network but from what I have read they have been experiencing a lot of connection issues do to the network being over whelmed (which isnt a surprise)...

  • "Fringe" lens flares.

Anyone watching the new show "Fringe"? They are using this intense blue lens flare effect with two horizontal streaks. It doesn't look like the usual thing Light Factory can produce. It has a real world optical feel that doesn't look like a plug-in.
Any idea how to reproduce it?

    SCREENSHOTS:

No idea. Since each flare is different (depending on lens type, intensity of the light source, light color and distance to camera), it would be major undertaking to catalog them all, let alone provide stock libraries for re-use. Sometimes you can find test footage such as the one linked from my blog entry here http://blog.myleniumstuff.de/?p=57, but it is rare. After all, one of the reasons plug-ins are so popular is because flares are often avoided on location to have more creative control later on. Only in recent years this documentary style has entered the dramatic movie and series arena, allowing for such artifacts to be produced in camera. For your specific problem I would really attempt to create a graphic in PS for the anamorphic streaks (which are doubled because some extra glass or filter was used in front of the lens) and move them around manually. The rest of the flare is actually quite conventional, so that part could still be done with KLF...

  • Automatic removal of colour fringing of Panasonic lenses on Olympus body (micro 43) possible?

    Hi,
Last week I sold my Panasonic GH2 and bought an Olympus OM-D E-M5.  My 14-45 Panasonic lens shows some nasty purple colour fringing with the OM-D (not your ordinary green-purple chromatic aberration, but purple fringing on both sides of highly exposed items, such as steel wheel covers). This I never(!!)  saw with the GH2. Fortunately I can correct this in Lightroom.  I go (in Develope module) to lenscorrections - colour - remove edge (purple). This works really well, and I know I can synchronise all affected images. But I would like to have this done automatically, just as Lightroom automatically removes all colour faults when using  micro four-thirds Panasonic lenses with a micro four-thirds Panasonic body. This is done through special data supplied by Panasonic which are read and implemented by Lightroom (I believe).
Unfortunately this doesn't work when using a Panasonic lens on an Olympus body, which is my reason for this question. I can make my own profile using Adobe Profile Creator to automatically remove chromatic abberations. Reading the tutorial I get the impressions these profiles only remove normal chrom. aberration, not the special purple colour fringing I am talking about. So: is there any way to automate this fringing, or do I have to work on all affected images in Lightroom using the technique I described?
Thanks a lot for your help!
    Willem

Before you do all the work creating a profile, why not create a develop preset?
Then you can apply this preset on import to all images taken with this lens and camera.

  • Calculation of Fringe Benefit Tax in SAP

    Dear all,
I want information about the fringe benefit tax (FBT). How can we configure it in SAP. Is there any standards available? any information on FBT is highly appreciable.
    Thanks,

    Dear Madhusudhan,
Maintain separate GL for FBT related acounts.
Maintain key word in GL Master.
So only those GLs will be selected for FBT calculation.
Thereafter you can execute reports like F.01 based on keywords to identify values in such accounts. Just apply the rates as per FBT rules and make a provision.

  • Get rid of fringe which first appears in Adobe Camera Raw

I use Elements 11.  I have taken a photo of a wharf and done a lot of work on it but now notice that one of the supporting columns has a turquoise fringe right down the side of it.  Looking back at the original RAW file I see that it was there in the beginning.  So it is not the result of any cut and paste, which I haven't done anyway.   On trying to read up about it, it seems to be chromatic aberration, which can be fixed easily in full photoshop RAW version, but seemingly not in the same way with the Elements cut-down RAW.
Have tried to get rid of, in Elements, by defringe by making a selection to another layer, using the defringe option, but it makes no difference   Have tried using the refine tool and all it various options but no luck.
Unless someone has a better option might have to clone out ?

I have been struggling with the DEFRINGE function for weeks.  It is one of the most difficult tools for me.  Last night I retried the instruction to select INVERT prior to opening the DEFRINGE panel, after using the selection tool of choice.
Now, the panel options are another story, very difficult to interpret, and that is keeping in mind I have two books that instruct on using it and have watched numerous instructional videos.
I too tried the MODIFY function but with limited results.
Even with the results appearing to be achieved with INVERT selected it is hard for me to determine how well I succeeded.  I did experiment with saving the resulting image to a .jpg and it is amazing how much better the image looks when not viewed in Elements but with any other image viewer.
    Good luck.

  • Fring Not Working after upgrade to Anna

I recently upgraded from Symbian 3 to Anna on my Nokia N8. After upgrading, I downloaded and installed Fring and although its installed but its not logging in!
Before upgrade, I had Fring on my N8 and it was working without any issues.
    Does anyone have any solution?

Email received from fring and I quote
"Thank you for contacting our support team.
Please note that your device is supported only using the Symbian ^3 version, the Anna and Belle updates are not supported by fring at this point, did you update your device to these latest versions? "
So why is this? Why are we constantly told to update when it just breaks things?

  • Where has the colored fringe removal tool gone in ACR 6.7?

Having just updated ACR to ver 6.7 (6.7.0.339) I am surprised to find that the colored fringe removal tool in the Lens Correction palette has disappeared. All that there is now is Transform, Lens Vignetting and the relatively useless Defringe.
I thought updates were supposed to provide enhancements, not remove things. What else has been taken away?
I use this tool a lot and would like to get it back. If it has been replaced with something supposedly better, then what and where is it? Have I missed something?
Any advice on this would be appreciated.

Yes, there is lots of useful information here, and thanks for directing me to it. The claimed improvements to fixing chromatic aberrations in digital cameras, including ability to fix LoCA fringing, are impressive
However, the article seems to apply only to ACR 7 (which I presume is exclusive to CS6) and LR 4. My question was really about ACR 6.7.0.339 in CS5, which installed via Adobe Updates, during the past week. On my system, this update appears to have removed the manual fringe removal tools in the Lens Correction palette.
There is nothing about this in the release notes, so has something gone wrong here?
However I have discovered that my lens is now supported, and that applying the (semi) automatic adjustments via the Lens Profile tab does a reasonable job of fixing chromatic aberrations (as well as geometrical aberrations) and is a lot quicker to use. However the manual tool should still be there to fix problems with unsupported lenses as well as a means of applying finer adjustments, perhaps to selected parts of an image, or to accomodate variations in manufactured lens quality.

  • Nimbuzz and fring hangs up on nokia e7

i bought nokia e7 before 2 months. then i was enjoying nimbuzz on my nokia e7. but then i installed fring on my e7. then i tried to call via fring. then it hangs up. so i switched off my phone and restart it. then i tried to open my nimbuzz. it opened then login in.. loading contact.. then it hangs up each time. then i used *#7370# code to format my phone. then i installed nimbuzz from ovi. it gives me same problem. i mean it remains to hang up. then i removed nimbuzz and installed again from get.nimbuzz.com But problem remain same. i got this from while i used fring on my phone. eventhouh i have removed fring. but the problem remain same. and i updated my phone software. i mean i m using the latest software. so i think fring created the prblm on my device. so is there any code (like *#7370#) to format the phone? or is there any trick to solve this problem?

  • White fringe appears around text in exported images?

Hey all, I'm having some problems when I export an image that has no background and antialiased text. No matter what format I save it in or in what way I save it (Save for web and devices, Save as), this white outline always comes up. However, in photoshop, I never see this.
Below is an example, where on the left is a screenshot of the image in photoshop with a black background layer underneath it, and on the right is the .PNG after export with a black layer underneath.
    http://img198.imageshack.us/img198/4483/whitefringe.png
Can anyone explain why this is happening and how to fix it?
    -Trey

It is PNG 24 you're using, right?
You actually appear to have a light fringe in both cases in the 'a'.
What layer styles do you have active?  I 'm thinking you may have an "inner glow" effect active.
I'm just not seeing the fringe that you are when I mock up what you've done, but I'm just guessing at the effects you've used.
Can you post a small PSD with these fonts in them?
Here's the PNG from the above:

  • Export to PDF causes fringing around transparent PNGs only in Acrobat

If I export to PDF from Keynote '09 using the "Best" setting, I'm getting black fringing around solid elements in a transparent PNG that was placed in the original keynote doc. This fringing does not occur when the PDF is viewed in Preview. Any suggestions on how to remove the fringing?
    Example is here: http://i.imgur.com/3QXGf.jpg
Thanks in advance for the help.

Perhaps my explanation of why this is a problem wasn't clear. The type of PDF links that Pages creates are, quite reasonably, set to highlight when clicked (there are a variety of options in PDF for the visual action of a clicked link; highlight is best for user feedback. In an ideal world, when the user clicks a link in a PDF, you want the a highlight box to appear over the text of the link - exactly over it, not too large, not too small.
Because Pages creates two links for each internal hyperlink, but the user will click only one of them in the PDF (whether in Preview or Acrobat), the highlight is almost guaranteed to be wrong for every click. If the user clicks the top link, only the top two-thirds of the text will highlight, and if the user clicks the bottom link, there will be a weird highlight either on the bottom third of the text or underneath it. It's inconsistent, but in most cases, it's wrong.
Obviously, this is only cosmetic, but it's the kind of mistake that hurts usability and detracts from the user experience, and as far as I can tell, there's absolutely no reason for it, making it a bug.
    cheers... -Adam

  • Did I just prove the purple fringing is software?

I experienced some fringing issues and got curious about the claims of coatings and internal reflections.... Please duplicate this and explain if you can... Set up a shot where the purple is very obvious, now simply switch to video mode.... It's gone right? Only did one experiment in my living room with a bright light but if it is coatings or internal reflections then it should still be there in my mind.
I would appreciate others duplicate this so apple can design a fix, video mode crops so you will need to pan a touch to duplicate the exact angle and discover the purple is no longer there, not sure if video uses a different aperture or not but obviously this can be fixed if apple will do it

This really is a blown out of proportion issue for anyone who knows anything about photography.  I wouldn't base your decision about upgrading to the iP5 based on this.
Indeed.  This is a common issue with strong backlighting.  Basically what happens is that the DIRECT light gets reflected inside the camera, resulting in fringing.  Coatings can minimize the reflections to some extent, but cannot eliminate them completely.  The easy thing to do is simply adjust your shot, or put your hand or a ball cap over the lens to block the direct light.
Doug Lerner2, is this really a dealbreaker for you?  Seriously?
