No Hub phone number

I was recently sent a new Hub phone when I ordered BT Vision.  Because of a Hub problem, I have only now got BB up and running again through my hub (its a painfully long story!).
I can't see anywhere either by post or by e-mail, that I have been sent a Hub phone number so I can't get started with it.
How do I get a Hub phone number?

You do not always get given a Broadband Talk number, I am not sure if this actively promoted now days, it always used to be given as standard in the early days of the home hub.
I suggest you contact the service dept on 0800 800 150 and get them to confirm you have the facility if not get them to add it to your account, make sure you ask for a geographical number (01xxx) rather than a non geographical (050xxx)

  • Recovering lost pin number Bt Hub Phone 2.1A

Hi, I've recently gone back to using my home hub phone after my ones giving up the ghost, I've managed to get it to link up but I was wanting to do a full factory reset to put it into a "out of box" state (i.e delete all the contacts etc...)  but cant get it to do this without the pin number which for the life of me I cant remember (its worth noting that I have tried the default 0000 and any other numbers that I would have used), is there ANY way at all that I can either reset this or recover it? I've read up about the test mode being able to reset the phone back to factory defaults which I have posted about before when it unexpectedly made a visit and wiped everything, but I cant seem to recreate it.... Im very good with this sort of thing normally but this one has got me stumped...

Yes, This is the page that i ended up on before and had tryed the,
"On the handset take a look at which button is the "Menu" button.
Take off the battery cover and remove one battery.
Hold in the Menu button while reinserting the battery.
After a few seconds the display will show "TEST MODE"
Do NOT press OK, but press "5"
The display will change to show "CLEAR SUB"
Hit OK and the handset will deregister, but the phone book will be retained. "
But i wasnt getting any of that come up on the screen?  the menu key is the one on the left if i am correct.. am i doing somthing wrong?
    Manythanks..
UPDATE: i've just tryed it on the older phone (1.5)  and it worked right away  but it wont work on the 2.1 (black one)

  • Home Hub Phone

Didn't know whether to put this in here, or ordinary BT Phone area, so please forgive me if its in the wrong one
My Home Hub Phone has stopped working, doesn't ring when dialled, i cannot dial out from it, it appears in the manager as connected/registered.
    Have tried the following things....
    switching phone on and off
    deleting and re-registering phone
    restarting whole Home Hub
all done, and phone re-registered on system afterwards, but nothing.
Even when i dial a number on it, then go to hit the green button to send the number, it wont even attempt to dial.

yes - its not easy to get the cover off a 2.1 phone is it??? - Anybody got any tips ??
Garfield - I have just noticed there is a reset facility on the menu/settings /option 9.
There is a handset settings reset or full reset. Might be worth trying the full reset if you cant get the cover off

  • How can we block a wireless phone number?

We use fios tv/internet/phone package and recently almost every day we got 2 or 3 times phone calls from the same wireless phone number we do not know.  When we pick up the phone to answer, the caller makes no sounds and we have to hang up.  It is very annoying.  Is there a way that we can block this person phone number so that he/she can not bother us anymore?

THere is a service you can subscribe to, not sure what the name is right now, but if you call the billing office and tell them you are getting harrasing calls, they can put a block on it.
Some of the services like FiOS digital voice, the Hub or I think the old IOBI let you block up to 5 or so numbers so it shouldn't be a big deal.

  • Phone number already in use.

I tried subscribing the premium but then i cannot seem to add my device because it says my number is already in use. I dont remember registering my number yet. How do I fix this?

In the Hub Phone user guide page 6 it states "- two calls can be made using BT Hub Phone handsets, and a third using a normal phone plugged into the phone socket on your BT Home Hub." So you can have 3 calls at the same time on the BB Talk number and one on the BT line, if you have enough handsets!
In the Hub Phone user guide page 46 there are details of Call waiting. It states that it is on by default. I do not have a phone connected to the socket on the Hub, although I do have it set to ring on Talk number, and only 1 Hub handset. I tried the following test. I made a call on the Hub phone on the Talk number and then rang the Talk number from my landline number. The landline gave ringing tone and I heard the call waiting bleep in the Hub phone and the display on the Hub phone came up with the calling number, my landline number, and 2 options. The options were "Switch" - this will put the current call on hold and answer the new call and "Reject". I pressed Reject and the call on my landline went from ringing to the 1571 voicemail.
In your case you should therefore be getting the call waiting bleep I think before the phone plugged into the Hub rings - perhaps you are missing the call waiting bleep or have call waiting switched off. You can switch call waiting back on from the BT Services Menu on the Hub phone. I can see no way that the second caller will be presented with engaged though. At least with call waiting working you could answer the second call and decide which call to continue with.

  • Bt home hub phone.

Since last night my home hub phone keeps coming up number unavailable whenever I try dialing,It started whilst I was in the middle of a call and just cut off.I've tried everything and nothing seems to work.
It will dial out if I press 5 and then type in a number (uses the landline I think) but it doean't work if I use it to answer a call.
    Help !!!!!!
Ignore - The only thing I didn't do is restart the Hub,Schoolgirl error & everything is ok now.

    Hey there.
Hopefully someone might be able to help, but I have been having the exact same problem. I can get the Airport Express to set up (if it is connected to my wireless BT Home Hub via ethernet cable) Airtunes fine, but when I try to get it to then join an existing BT Home Hub wireless network, I enter the wireless key (with and without the '$'sign) and the AE says that settings have been successfully changed and AE is restarting.
The problem then occurs that the Airport Utility times out and says that it is unable to find any Airport Base stations. A soft reset of the AE and it is picked up, only the changes have not taken effect! Must have done this 20 times now.
It will however work over a wireless connection if I make the Mac join the AE network, but as we all know, this disables internet on the Mac.
    Any ideas?

  • Broadband Phone Number displays

    Hi,
My Gigaset SL910A phone has a facility to send and receive text messages provided CLIP is enabled. However we are unable to send text messages and any sent to us are converted to a voice message by BT.  It looks like CLIP is enabled as when we dial out on our phone the receivers caller display shows our phone number but displays our Broadband phone number rather than the true home number.
I have gone into the Home Hub 2 settings but can't see how to disable the broadband phone number. Does anyone know if I can somehow turn the broadband phone off and get our number shows as the normal home phone number?  I think this may solve the text problem as it looks as if the Gigaset phone number is being blocked by HH@ which then transmits the broadband number to whoever we phone.
We are ex-dirctory if that makes any difference.
    Thanks for any help,
    Mickey

You must have asked for your number to be withheld when you ordered your phone line.
You can disable it on a call-by-call basis by prefixing the number with 1470.
You have it permanently enabled, you would have to ask BT.
The broadband talk number gives you free evening calls, if you are only on a basic package. Also, some International calls are cheaper.
The service is to be discontinued by BT at the end of the year anyway.
Your hub phone (s) will still work when you disable telephony, but the calls will be made on your normal landline number.
The crackling on the line does not sound very good, but it could be the relay in the HH2, which can cause that.
Its worth checking your line with a normal phone, as a bad line can affect your broadband speed.

  • BT changed my Phone Number in Error.

Hopefully I am posting in the correct place as this is also about broadband talk.
I have been a BT broadband customer (option 3) for many years but have never used or activated my broadband talk. I have never been given a number to use with broadband talk, I have been with them since long before hub phones etc.
I contacted BT by email and asked them for a Number and password to use with broadband talk. They assigned me an 05 number. I contacted them once again by email and asked for a geographic number instead and explaining that I didn't need broadband talk if they couldn't supply a "normal" number. That is all I ever asked BT to do.
This is where it all goes horribly wrong.
Without notifying me they have changed my landline number and assigned a new number to it and assigned my original landline number to broadband talk.
I spoke to them on friday, they admitted their mistake and promised it would be changed back within 24 hours. It is quite obvious from my email that I didn't ask them to change my landline number and they admitted it was their error.
Nothing happened, so I emailed again on Saturday evening. I got a call this morning re. the email but only to say that it should be fixed by the 20th, and there was nothing else he could do as he was not at work on Monday.
Its unreal that my phone is all but useless to me because someone on the other side of the world has a day off.
I have had this same landline number for over 20 years, but now no-one can phone me, I never at any point asked BT to change it and this is a matter of record as my contact with them was via email.
Can anyone explain why I am left with an unknown phone number for nearly a week through no fault of my own, or why I cannot get to speak to anyone who actually understands me. Or even why a company as large as BT think it is OK to actually lie to their customers. Is it really such a major operation to correct their error and restore my number, it seemed very easy for them to change it without even being asked to.
I apologise for the tone of this email but I am so very frustrated by all this, nearly an hour of option choosing and waiting to finally get through to someone who cant even do anything and whose best suggestion is to start the same process off again on Monday morning.
Thanks for reading this and giving me the opportunity to blow off some steam. I feel certain that this problem is most likely caused by the language barrier between the customer and the customer service. It appears to be impossible that my email to BT could have been misunderstood.
I apologise for the length of this rant but I will quote my email to them at the end of this post. If anyone can suggest why this email could result in what actually happened then feel free to tell me.
    Phil
    Email sent to BT
Thank you for dealing with my request for a broadband talk number and password, however the number you have assigned me "05*********" is actually worse than useless to me. I understood that I would receive a number that had my own area code. 05 numbers are charged at different rates by different service providers, callers may be charged a premium rate for calling this number.
If you cannot supply a proper geographic code i.e. "01" then I do not require this service.
    Thank you

    Hi Q42,
I am guessing this is down to 'simple' human error. The account that the advisor see's will just display the 2 numbers with a breif description of what they are for, i beleive the systems use the landline as a default for any order that the advisor puts through, so i guess they forgot to change it to the voip number for a renumber.
Bt Retail (and all service provisders) have to follow strict time frames for all dealings with BT Openreach and probably have their hands tied to how long this will take to get swapped back.
As alreday advised this shouldnt be a major inconveinece (other than the time it takes you to get resolved, phone calls etc ) as if you still have the desired number assigned to your voip service you should still receive the calls and the callers shouldnt be aware you are answering on the hub phone.
You could push the issue and may get it looked into before the 20th, but in my experience try to keep things simple to reduce any further problems.
No matter how clever our computers become they are still limited by the humans operating them

  • Home Hub Phones & blocking calls from a particular...

I have a BT Home Hub 1.5 and the Hub Phone. Is it possible to block, or blacklist one phone number, so as it cannot call my hub phone?
I tried saving it in the phone book & allocating a ring tone of "None" but it still rings. I have also looked under Advanced in the web interface for the home hub, but cannot see anything there either.

    Hi KeithAFrench,
If you take a look at the link Choose to Refuse, you will find some information on calling feature and this could help you to block calls from that number. Let me know if you still have any question regarding this service.
    Cheers

  • 7 days before Infinity Hub Phone disconnected - no...

    Hi everyone,
As a neewbie, apologies if my situation is what I should be expecting.
Yesterday I ordered an upgrade from Broadband 3 to Infinity 2.
I had a £2 loyalty bonus on the Broadband3 but this was to be lost on the upgrade.
I received 2 emails one confirming I had requested the "hub phone" to be disconnected! I hadn't but realise that with Infinity I lose the option to keep it.
The second email was to confirm our discussion about "BT Vision" - There had been NO conversation about BT Vision - I then realised that it was addressed to Mm? and the telephone number was not mine!
I looked at the "track my order" and the info there at least seems to be correct.
I tried phoning BT, and even speaking to someone in the UK didn't get the impression that the agent really cared!
Today my Hub Phone was disconnected - Hopefully my existing phone and broadband won't go the same way.
Michael (who thinks he should have stayed with his 2Mb rather than try the promise of 36Mb)

My Broad Band Talk was disabled fairly soon after (a day or so) ordering Infinity. I also had an email telling me.
However my ADSL BroadBand continued working up to the Infinity installation day.
Sad to hear about your delayed HH3 delivery and hope it arrives on time however it is cutting it fine.
Mine arrived on the Wednesday and Infinity installed on the Friday. Edit come to think of it this was only 4 working days after I had ordered.
This gave me a couple of days to remove my HH2 and use the HH3 on my existing BT broadband.
Imho I found very little difference between the HH2 and HH3..... I was still able to receive a similar strength signal at the bottom of the garden... no better or no no worse.
Anyhow good luck for your installation and please let us know how it goes.
Ohhh and lets hope those two parallel lines do end up having a HH3 and Openreach Modem connected to them....

  • Hub Phone losing Contacts list

I have the black Hub Phones (software v1935i006f007 Type A) and they are driving me crazy!  They will 'lose' contacts from my list. An example:
Tried to call my friend Karen.  Her name has disappeared from the Contacts list.  Find her number from elsewhere and dial it manually.  Up pops her name as it dials out?????  Finish the call check the Contacts list and she's not there.
It has lost quite a lot of Contact details over the months and you dodn't realise until you go to call someone who's not there.  It seems to have taken a dislike to the letter 'D' lately as those contacts have gone...

Yes, what happens is that the batteries lose their capacity, and cannot provide the extra power that is needed when you press the hands free button, so it simply disconnects.
Some of the hub phones make a squealing noise, and then reboot themselves.
If you want to prove that its the batteries, then put a pair or ordinary alkaline batteries inside instead, and see if it fixes the problem.
DO NOT put the phone on the charger base with alkaline batteries fitted, as they can leak and overheat.
Just try them for 10 minutes or so, then take them out again.
If it fixes the problem, then I would recommend that you change all of the batteries in the phones. They are not expensive if bought online.

  • Broadband Hub Phone "Recent Usage"

Up until about 7 weeks ago I was using my Broadband Hub phone for business calls. This was useful, as I need to charge the cost of calls back, and I was provided with an itemised "Recent Usage" list.
7 weeks ago this "Recent Usage" list stopped working, and I have spoken to a large number of people at BT, all of who said "it will be fixed in 2-3 days", "We'll call you back" etc etc.
Now, when someone "promises" me they will call me back, and don't, I consider this as a serious breakdown in customer service. I can only assume that because I am not one of the large multi-national corporations, spending millions of pounds a year with BT, that I am just pushed aside and considered a minor irritation, rather than a valued customer.
Terrible, terrible service. Thanks goodness for Twitter - I can warn others thinking of changing to BT.

The number and broadband are registered to me personally, not the business; this is why I used this forum.
As I have explained on numerous occasions to numerous support staff, waiting for the bill is not what I need to do (although that's what I'm being forced to do because of BT).
This WAS working, so something has been done to stop it. Any changes made would surely have been subject to testing, and a rollback contingency plan, and after 7 weeks I would have expected BT to have implemented this, rather than just keep stalling with the usual "stock" answers.
If the service is no longer possible, why can't someone just say so, and I can look for an alternate supplier?

  • Strange Hub Phone Problem

    Hello,
I have just upgraded to a home hub 2.0 and hub phone 2.1 (I have been a BT Broadband user for many years).
The problem that I have is with the hub phone. It makes calls with crystal clarity. It receives calls from landlines, T-Mobile and Vodaphone. It will not receive calls from O2 or Orange.
My mobile and some of my family's are O2. When you call the hub phone (which has a London 020 3 number) from an O2 mobile, we get the message "The number you have called is not recognised. Please check the number".
I have spoken to O2, who tell me every thing is fine at their end and BT, who also tell me all is fine.
    All is not fine, evidently.
I wondered if any of you knowledgeable persons had any ideas, or if anyone else has had this problem.
    Tearing hair out at present!!!
    Thanks
    P

    Hi Rosep59,
Did you get this sorted yet? I've had a look around and can find no issues with mobile calls to the hub handset. Is it specific numbers that aren't getting through? Have there been problems with any other numbers? Do you have call barring set up on the hub handset? Let me know and we'll take it from there.
