No more error messages

Today Director suddenly stopped giving me error messages on
runtime.
When I run a movie and Director encounters an error, it just
stops executing without displaying any message. I never experienced
this in 7 years use of Director (I am still using 8.5).
I did a computer restart, but it doesn't help.
When I execute a line of code in the Message windows, error
reporting still functions.
an example:
the line "put 0/0" executed in the message window generates
the message: "script error: cannot divide by zero". The same line
contained in a global handler just makes director stop executing
code, without an error message.
Did I unforeseen change any setting that I don't know of? Can
somebody help me out of this problem?
Jan

thank you for your replies,
Today I tried again, and everything was back normal again. I
was just about to do a reinstall, but it became unnecesary.
I am still curious about what was going on, but by now I am
satisfied with the fact that the problem is gone.

Guess what? The folks responding to you here are all just users like you, we don't work for Apple, so, you know, your pain is of little interest.
This has been the cause of your problems:
I checked in Iphoto preferences and the box to automatically import photos to Iphoto was unchecked.
What that means is you have connected your camera and iPhoto has imported references to your photos - links, in other words. It did not copy your files into the Library.
Then you took away the camera.
Now iPhoto is looking for the pictures.
You'll need to import the images again - but if you do you'll have masses of duplicates. So, trash the existing library, create a new one and start over.

Im going over the Java tutorials and I came to this bit of code and when I tried to compile it I got back 100 error messages, most said:
    classArrayDemo.java:9: illegal character: \0
    int[ ] anArray;
    d e c l a r e s a n a r r a y o f i n t e g e r s
says that about 50 times then the java:9 changes to java:13 for about 50
So what I did, and don't forget Im only about 3 days into programming, was to complile it I typed: javac classArrayDemo then the errors came.
Question: should this program work like the "HelloWorldApp" did?

The software downloads then an erroe message pops up stating that the file .....iTunes64.msi cannot be found. A manual search for the file is also fruitless.
How can I work around this?

    This worked for someone
I had this problem for about six weeks. I was following this forum but was too unsure of what might happen to try the fixes that were suggested.
About two weeks ago I decided to delete the downloads.28.sqlitedb file (usingDiskAid(a free program), on a PC running Windows 7). The original downloads.28.sqlitedb was 936 KB. The new one that the system created is 80 Kb., and has stayed at about that size. After about four days I also deleted all the other contents of the Download folder. Ten days later and still no more problems. Downloads are much quicker, nothing greys-out (as was happening frequently before).
Everything has worked well since with no more error messages.
I am using an iPod 4G, iOS 5.1 (originally iOS 5.0). I do not have a manifest file, and as far as I know, have not had one. DiskAid can search the whole "hard drive" on the iPod.
Deleting downloads.28.sqlitedb and the contents of Downloads worked for me.

  • Error message opening .jpg saved for Web in Photoshop CS3

After I save a file for "Web & Devices," when I open it, it returns this message, "This file contains file info data which cannot be read and has been ignored." Will this cause any problem with the file once I place it in the website I'm building? I've never seen this message before on a photo I've edited. The changes I made involved color correction.
    Thank you,
    Marilyn

When I go to "Save," I select "Settings" "Other," which brings up the "Output Settings" and under the XHTML settings, I do not have "Include XMP" selected. I had to deselect "Include Comments" under "Coding". This fixed it, but it then said it was HTML and not XHTML. So I went back in and reselected "Include Comments" and resaved it for Web & Devices. No more error message!
Thanks for your help! This was really bugging me.

  • Error messages on starting up CS6  (Windows XP, SP3)

When I double click Photoshop.exe, the program starts to load. Then I get an error message indication that the application has made an attempt to load the C Runtime library incorrectly. I can click OK and the program will then load. But then I get 2 more  error messages:  Could not load FastCase Routine module   and could not load MMX Core Routine.  I click OK and it still works. Anyone have thoughts?

I have this same problem running CS6 on PC/Win7.  I tried moving out all the plug ins and still had the issue.  Then I moved out a file called "Extensions" from the Plug-In directory.  I took a screen shot so you can see the files that are in there (below).  I just moved it to a temporary directory so as not to delete it.  When I took out this subdirectory with these files, CS6 starts up with no problem and no pop-up error boxes as described by bberg4.
So... The question is.  Do I care ?  Do I need this subdirectory for something ?  As far as I know, I didn't create it, but now that I think of it, I might have copied it from my CS5 plug in directory.  I can't recall.
ANyway - Is there anything in here that I need in CS6 ?
    Thanks !!

  • Weird error messages while starting up Illustrator

Not a critical issue, but disconcerting. I noticed sometime in the last few days that when I started up Illustrator, I got 3 Illustrator error messages (two of which were identical):
-An error occurred while processing the appearance of an object.
-The operation cannot complete because of an unknown error. [CANF]
Some details: I have restarted my computer. I have not tried to start Illustrator by double-clicking on a file or dragging a file onto the Illustrator icon. The application resides on my hard drive, not on a remote server or attached drive. I am running OS 10.5.4 on a Dual G5 PowerPC (3.0) tower with 2 GB SDRAM. The hard drive has 130 GB available. I have CS3 Standard installed. I have installed the latest patches from Adobe and Apple. I have not added any new fonts to my system recently. I am using Font Book, not any 3rd party font managers. Illustrator has not crashed recently. My coworkers have not reported these error messages (yet), but I don't think they've had to restart anything.

Illustrator doesn't quit. The 3 error messages happen after all the extensions & etc. are done loading, so after I click the "OK" buttons, Illustrator just waits for me to start working. Then Illustrator works normally. No files have gone corrupt, and no crashes. And no more error messages until I restart Illustrator.

  • IPlanet Webserver:Error Messages

    Hi everybody
We have a problem debugging our JSP pages. Whatever the errors in the JSP's, all what we get in the browser is a generic server error. Is there a switch or configuration entry to make the JSP Enginge more verbose?

    Hi,
Do get more error messages related to jsp, follow the below steps.
    1.Go to iWS doc root e.g:- /usr/netscape/server4
    2.Edit jvm12.conf file from /usr/netscape/server4/https-test/config/jvm12.conf
Change the following lines in jvm12.conf:
    #jvm.verboseMode=1
    #jvm.enableDebug=1
    #jvm.printErrors=0
    #jvm.trace=5
    to:
    jvm.verboseMode=1
    jvm.enableDebug=1
    jvm.printErrors=6
    jvm.trace=6
    3.Restart the server.
    Thanks,

  • Error message when attempting update

While attempting to update iTunes, download was not allowed.  Following message appeared: MSVCR80.dll

Very, very carefully throw your computer on the ground and burn your house down.  No more error message.

  • "After Effects can't continue: sorry, After Effects has crashed [...] (0 :: 42)" error message

    Hey all.
I've recently been getting the aforementioned error message, and from what I've gathered from my reading into the problem it's probably the most generic AE error message there is. Fun. If it makes a difference, it always appears when AE is initializing the User Interface. I haven't tried all the other programs yet, but Photoshop CS2 seems to load up without a problem, as does Premiere Pro 2.0.
I'm running AE 7.0 as part of the Creative Suite Production Studio Premium (Student Edition), 2GB of RAM, and am running on a Gateway MX6640b (?) laptop. And I'm not that knowledgeable when it comes to the technical side of computers, so my apologies if I haven't listed all the relevant specs of my laptop.
I haven't been able to pinpoint what may have caused this problem (I guess that's pretty evident), but I've tried a ton of stuff to try and get it sorted. I've ran multiple disk checks (which have thrown up a bunch of unreadable files, all of which have now been fixed. Though it seems to always find another bad file cluster each time I run it), defragged the hard drive, updated my video drivers, reinstalled AE7 as well as uninstalling and installing it, installed the AE Render Engine, ran the Adobe Updater, and uninstalled and installed the entire Creative Suite. I haven't installed any new fonts since I last used it (I've read that incompatible fonts may cause this error message). And now I'm at a real loss about what to do.
Incidentally, by running the "Install After Effects Render Engine" program, it actually threw up more error messages when AE was starting up than before despite the fact that it claims to fix bugs / corrupt files etc. For some reason it couldn't find any of the palettes (Audio, Tool, and the like) - but I sorted that out when I uninstalled and reinstalled AE.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

You can run AE without OpenGL capable hardware, so that shouldn't be the cause of your problems. It's probably either a corrupt preference file or QuickTime installation.
Try these tips and report back:
    i http://generalspecialist.com/2007/02/troubleshooting-after-effects-7.asp
The "Render Engine" is a version of AE that can be used on unmanaged machines that collaboratively render a project over a network. That's why it doesn't have all the options. It can't be used for anything other than rendering.
Make sure you enable "Show hidden files/folders" in Windows XP's view preferences. See my blog post for other ways of deleting the preferences.

  • Windows error message for Rescue & Recovery on T61 6460-D6G

Recently whenever I install any update through Lenovo System Update 5, I get error messages from Windows when I start Rescue and Recovery. To be more specific I get the message that Windows are re-installing R & R followed by 2 more error messages the numbers of which I can't remember.
Seems like the installation of updates corrupts R & R, therefore I restored my system to a point before that installation and now it's working fine.
However I can't install any more updates through Lenovo System Update software without that issue to appear. Need to add that my OS is Win 7 Professional, 32 bit.
    Any idea about that?
    Many thanks in advance!

You can try updating other programs but not rescue and recover, or try downloading and installing the RnR manually, or try completely removing it first, then installing the latest version manually.
Maybe one of these three ideas may work.
I'd also question if your windows xp installation is stable, these types of problems plagued XP after making a lot of changes, most heavy users just got in the habbit of reformatting their drives and reinstalling when it became unstable. XP can be a good operating system, but once it gets buggered up you get all kinds of unexpected problems and bluescreen crashes. Vista (after the bugs were worked out) and Seven are a big improvment in my opinion.
Good luck and I hope you're able to resolve the issue.
