No signal in Canada

I have been in Canada on business for 5 months, the signal reception has been terrible, it looks like AT &T work with Rogers Communication for signal reception ... it's terrible. Every once in awhile I get Bell Canada's signal or Telus, it's great, then the signal reverts back to Rogers which is absolutely garbage. Colleagues I am with have Verizon & T-mobile they have no reception issues in Canada. Is anyone else experiencing this, I think it's time to change companies AT&T can not produce.

Hey
I’m sorry to hear you are experiencing service issues while roaming in Canada. If currently in Canada, I would recommend contacting our international support department at +1 916 843 4685 (free from mobile) where we can troubleshoot these issues and find why there have been some concerns regarding signal strength.
I hope this helps!

  • Droid 2 Global Massive Signal Fluctuations and unreliable data speeds

I've had my Droid 2 Global since January now, and have been using it in Burlington, VT where I go to school since the middle of January, and speeds have been a bit slow, but technically within verizon's average speed estimates of 600-1400kbps on average. However The weekend before last my phone started getting really good signal consistently, always 4 bars, and 1200-2400kbps down nonstop day and night all weekend, which was honestly what I was expecting from Verizon all the time anyway given that my signal strength was always stronger than -70dbm where I was, and so I was happy. However Monday came and the signal became terrible again, ping went up to 500-1300ms, speeds were well below 600kbps all the time, and though speeds improved over the week, they never really reached what I would call normal until the weekend. But around that time my phone started jumping from G to 1x a bit and last night around 4 the phone freaked out, switched G and 1x constantly, couldn't use the market or speedtest or anything. I did a factory reset in the morning since the problem was still there, but then the phone refused to activate, and when I set it to "home only" mode for roaming it found no signal. Eventually when I was on the phone with Verizon support the phone activated, and G seems to be working okay now, but I still have jumpy signal, within my one dorm room, even if the phone is sitting in one spot next to me, it will happily jump from 4 bars to 3 to 1 to 3 to 2 to 1 to 3, all within a minute or 2. As a result speedtests show highly unstable download speeds. I am wondering if Verizon has a way to determine if it is my phone that is having issues or if it is the network up here. I get great signal when I go closer to the tower and don't usually have problems there, though speed can still be super slow sometimes.
Sorry for the rant, just wanted to explain what's kind of been going on and get some feedback, some people are saying it's my phone, some the network, and the only ideas I've gotten are to go right below the tower and see if I have issues there, but if I don't, then either there is interference between my dorm and the network, or there is something wrong with the phone, but if the network is the problem then I wonder why sometime signal is stable, such as the weekend before last. Anyway thanks for any help anyone can offer.

Just to confirm, when you say switching "G and 1X", you mean "3G and 1X"?
If it is actually saying "G", that means that you are picking up a GPRS signal from a GSM carrier, which would be very slow.  Unless you have had a major ToS violation (DroidBandUnlock), you shouldn't be picking up US GSM, so this would have to be a weak signal from Canada....

I bought my iPhone 4 open line in Vancouver, Canada last week for use here in my home base in Bangkok, Thailand.  But when I tried using my Thai sim, I get a very weak signal, if not a weak signal, then a no service status.  I also have very weak wifi reception.  What do I do?
    I already tried the following:
    a. Turned the phone off and then on.
    b. Checked all wifi connections – no problem given that all our laptops and desktops can connect seamlessly.
    c. I tried restoring the phone to original factory settings via itunes
    d. Tried resetting the phone.
    e.     Tried different microsims from all networks
    f. However, all methods failed given that the network reception is very weak and often reflects – “no service”.  And with regards to the wifi reception It has difficulty in reading even the signal right in front of the wifi router.
I went to two Apple resellers here in Bangkok and requested that they please look at my Iphone and have it serviced.  I was frustrated when they said that given that I bought my phone in Canada, they are not able to support me and should instead try to contact the Apple store in Canada.
I went to apple.ca website and went to the expresslane support and I was said to register and callback.  Tried calling the 1800 number but given that I was in Thailand I had difficulty getting a connection.

  • Living in Canada with a Verizon phone

I live in Canada (near US border - Detroit) and my Verizon phone keeps dropping my calls when my Iphone5 switches between the US and Canadian cell towers...is there a fix?

Now that is a problem. When I travel in Canada when approaching the border into NY the signal is Canadian. Now the trick I would assume is to go into your settings and turn off cellular roaming and see if that works.
You could also purchase a local Sim from the Canadian Provider be it Can-tel, Bell Mobility or any other local provider.
I believe Verizon has signal strength quite a ways into Canada. Normally I think in Montreal it was Verizon or Bell.
    Try what I suggested.
    Good Luck

  • Input signal out of range with HDMI to VGA adapter LE1901w

    Hi!
Recently I acquired an LE1901w monitor to use as second screen. I'm trying to connect it to my Toshiba u925 using an HDMI to VGA adapter (because neither the monitor has a HDMI port nor the notebook has a VGA output).
I'm getting the message "input signal out of range" asking to change to 1440x920 @ 60Hz and it keeps showing until the monitor goes to sleep even when I change the settings as per requested.
I have an integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000 and i'm using the default Windows monitor drivers for Windows 8.1
    Any comment will be helpful
    Thanks

    Hello @fbinim,
I understand that you are getting the message "Input Signal Out Of Range" and it is asking you to change to 1440x920 @ 60 Hz. I suspect this is a driver issue and you will need to ensure that your drivers are up to date on your computer. Just to be sure I would recommend if you could to move the HP LE1901W monitor to another computer and ensure that you do not have the problem there. If you do have it on another computer The issue you are experiencing appears to be a physical issue. Please call our technical support at 800-474-6836. • I bought my iPhone in Canada ,but I live in Europe, how can I mend my iPhone?

My friend bought a iPhone 4s for me from Canada, and I live in Italy.the bad story started from that time, when we open the phone ,we found there were 2 dirty spot inside the phone!!!it seems like pieces of material inside the front cover, and then we went to the apple store Milano, the guys who works in genius bar said they can't solve the problem for me!so I just use it!
In the first few months the signal of my iPhone was **** bad,the signal always automatically off,but after the update new iOS system, I solved the problem.
What's more, after 1 month my volume buttons were automatically down ,and I went to the apple store Milano again!they said they can't open the phone to solve the problem, the only work the can do is change a new phone,
BUT,because I bought the phone in Canada,so they can't change a new phone for me!!!!!!!!
    AND!!!!!!!!!!!
    My phone speaker was broken!!!!
The apple store Milano advise me to send the iPhone to Apple Canada.
Now I can said the iPhone of my is not a qualified iphone!
So ,how can I get a real iPhone!!!!!!?????

One of the downfalls to purchasing an iPhone in a country you don't live in or intend to use the phone in is warranty & support...as you've found out. Unfortunately for you, you will have to physically return the phone to Canada for all warranty & support issues, and no, you can't mail it back.
Except for the EU, where the iPhone warranty is EU wide, iPhone warranty & support is, and always has been, country specific...valid only in country of original purchase. If you want your phone serviced, you'll have to return it to Canada.

  • Monitor not receiving signal from computer

I have an Envy 700-074 and I bought a EVGA Geforce GTX 660 (Superclocked) video card to use with it this past July.  It worked very well for the past few months until mid-September when I started having problems while play WOW (I had no problems playing other games that required more video than WOW or in doing my 3d rendering). So two days ago I contacted Blizzard support for advice and they told me to run this display driver uninstaller from guru 3d to totally remove the nvidia drivers from my computer and then reinstall them fresh.  Well when I ran the driver remover program, my screen went black and now I can't get any display response at all from my computer.  The monitor says it is receiving no signal from my computer.  I tried with both a DVI hookup and a VGA hookup and got same response.  Please tell me what I can do to fix this. I need my computer.

    Hello @Eanori,
Yes re-formatting should get you your drivers back and at the very least give you a clean build to work from. I am going to provide you with all the steps to backup and recover your computer back to factory settings. To backup your personal information and ensure that it is not lost I would like you to review and follow the steps set out in the HP Support document: Backing Up Your Files (Windows 8), which will ensure your personal files are up to date.
***WARNING!! If you want to keep any emails or bookmarks/favorites you will want to back those up as well as I do not believe they are backed up in the HP Backup process.
Next, I would like you to review and follow the steps set out in the HP Support document: Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 8), which will you through recovering your computer back to factory settings.
*** IMPORTANT - Your personal files such as libraries, personalization settings, user accounts, and desktop themes are permanently removed. As well the computer settings are returned to the defaults (the way it was when it came from the factory). All apps and software that were installed on the computer when it came from the factory are reinstalled, and their settings are reset to the defaults. Additionally, software, apps, programs, and everything that you have installed or saved on the computer are permanently removed.

  • Battery Drain in Canada

I live in the metro Detroit area.  When I go across the river to Windsor, Ontario, with a fully charged battery on my Droid Charge, I get a low battery alarm after about 3-4 hours without overtly using the phone.  When I'm in the US, my battery lasts 24 hours under the same conditions.  Why is my battery running down so fast when I go to Canada?

    Joe4904,
Here is an answer because we get that all the time when we camp/park our motorhome near the border or just across into Canada.  First and foremost your phone keeps trying to connect to a cell phone tower in the US.  Once in a National Forrest where there were absolutely NO cell towers the phone used the entire battery up in about 4 hours trying to connect.
Then, in your case, the Wi-Fi keeps trying to find  a Wi-Fi connection.  In between all this, if it did not automatically close itself down, the Mobile Data connection keeps trying to connect to 4G and if not 3G.  Then your follow-me GPS tracking is always tracking you.  That's a lot of mAh's being used up.
For the record, Its mostly the phone trying to find non-roaming towers or trying to connect to weak or non-exhistant signals, followed by Wi-Fi.
Joe...I am interested in one thing if you will share it with me, why do you keep Wi-Fi and Mobile Data on at the same time?
On my phone when I turn on Wi-FI and it finds a network the Mobile Data is automatically turned off by my phone.
    Best of luck

  • Losing signal and web when on 3G

    Hello,
I have started experiencing this new problem recently, maybe after getting the new update, but not sure. What happens is when I have my 3G enabled, I keep losing service from Rogers (Canada) and the 3G sign goes away too. I can see in the top-left corner of my iphone that the service strength has flat-lined and the 3G signal has disappeared. I was adviced to change my SIM card as I was using one from my old phone. I did that, but the problem persisted. What I have noticed is that when I disable 3G and be on the Edge network, the phone work perfectly. Has anyone experienced this? Does anyone have any solutions for this?
    Thanks

    Options are limited but include.
    1. Get a new SIM card from AT&T and reset your voicemail, see if that helps.
    2. Reset your iPhone (holding down the top button and home button for ~10 seconds until the Apple logo appears on the screen).
    3. Restore your iPhone. If restoring from backup does nothing then next try restore as new and start over.
    4. If nothing else works then call Apple or go to an Apple store and they will replace it.

  • Unlocked iPhone 5 bought in Canada not working in Brazil

    Hello folks!
I'm experiencing a disappointing issue here. I bought an unlocked Iphone 5 in the Pacific Centre Apple Store (Vancouver, BC) and paid the full price.
As I had a contract-free plan of Fido (with a regular SIM card), the attendent from Apple store gave me a nano SIM and asked me to go to the Fido store in order to activate it. So I did it. The phone worked fine in Canada but back to Brazil, I tried to insert 2 different SIMs from 2 different carriers (Oi and Tim) and this message appears for both: "This iPhone is not currently setup to work with carrier you're attempting to use. Please insert another SIM card from a supported carrier or request that this iPhone be unlocked".
Who should I contact? I already tried to reset the phone before insert the SIMs but it didn't work. After reset the phone, the name of Carrier in "About" changes for the corresponding SIM, I see bars of signal but the message keeps appearing.
I hope someone can help me! =)
    Thank you.

Perhaps the phone that you purchased from the Apple store was not actually unlocked, but sim free instead, which means that the phone will lock to the first sim card that you insert into the phone - ie Fido.
To get the phone unlocked, you would need to contract Fido and see if they will unlock it for you.  Failing this, you would need to return to or contact the Apple store in Canada where you purchased the phone to see if the phone was truly unlocked or sim free and see what they will do about it.  If it was their mistake and the phone is still in warranty she should exchange it for you - if it was not an unlocked phone and you requested an unlocked phone, then they should still replace it for you.
Do you still have your receipt for this phone?  If so, it should tell you on this whether the phone is unlocked or not. Check it and see.

  • Is anyone having issues with keeping a signal?

This just started yesterday out of the blue! My phone will say it has a strong signal, then 10 seconds later goto searching..., then No signal.... then it starts all over again! Ive tried rebooting it, and that does not work. I updated to the new software last week, and had no issues till yesterday!
Any one have any suggestions? Thank you!

The problem is that you're using an uncertified lightning to 30-pin connector (the blue cable).  If you purchase the 30-pin to lightning cable (either online, at an Apple store or an authorized dealer) it should work fine.
I have a 2011 Tuscon and tried the lightning to USB cable that came with the phone - no dice.  Talked to my local Hyundai dealer and they don't have an eta on the Hyundai lightning cables (I'm sure it's in the works).

  • Bell TV receptor signal drop every 4 min caused by TimeCapsule

I just got my Fibe 50 installed here in Quebec, Canada, and every 4 minutes there is a signal drop. I had 2 technicians coming home and finally we discovered that there is a DHCP conflit between both of them. When I turn off the TimeCapsule and uses only bell router, the problem disappears. Does anybody had the same problem or know if there is any configuration to solve the problem? In the TimeCapsule settings I have already changed to allow 5Hz bandwidth but did not work. Thanks a lot.

If you are supplied a router then the TC has to be in bridge mode.. that is router bridge..
Open the airport utility and make sure in the dhcp and NAT section you have it set to bridge.
Then you can set fixed channels to the wireless that are different to the bell router.. or turn off wireless altogether.. you can still access the TC via the bell router.
