hi to all users,
i am using nokia 5800 xm.i have an problem with this model regarding battery.when i connect to charger to mobile it show charging but after some time when i unplug the charger from mobile it will show low battery and after restarting the device it will indicate full battery bars
can any one help me.....

Take back-up of your data.. and Go for Firmware Update / Re-install..If that does not help..do a Soft Reset by dialing *#7370# followed by 12345 (Default code) when prompted. If you have set your own code..use that instead. Be warned that Soft Reset will erase all data from the Phone memory and Restore will be necessary.. You will also have to re-install some of the applications..

Nokia 5800 v40 updating problem!

So, I used NSU to my update my Nokia 5800 device, the code is on the list and both Ovi suite and NSU detect the new firmware, NSU downloads the update, then when it says " installing update" ( 15 minutes left ) it asks me to revome the USB connection, restart my device and connect it again, I did that, didn't work, removed the memory card and did it agian, didnt work. it showed the same message, so I used Ovi Suite, it did just the same thing, I thought my USB port has a problem, so I put the USB cable in another port ( I think that solved the ' conneciton has been lost with your device problem' but not for long, till I ran into another problem, " Iternal module error" I searchded for it, and this is what I found /t5/Software-Updates/quot-Internal-module-error-quot-in-NSU-fix-offered-here/td-p/88351;jsessionid=5... I did what's mentioned there, it said "loadlibrary ("regsvr32 C:\WINNT\system32\msxml4.dll") failed - the specified module couldn't be found , any suggestions? Thanks.

lol, sorry, "replying" for myself here, the code is "regsvr32 C:\WINNT\system32\msxml4.dll" I use windows xp not NT, so I changed it to "regsvr32 C:\WINDOWS\system32\msxml4.dll" which worked for me, now that my USB connection and Iternal Module problems are solved, I will try installing the new update using Ovi suite again, I will let you know what happens, bare with me

Nokia 5800 XM Display Problem

I have Nokia 5800 XM with its version updated to V 21.0.025. I had purchased this phone in Jan 2009 and had no major issues till yesterday.
Today when I unlocked the phone I suddenly saw a scrambled greyish display with flickring lines.
I locked & unlocked the phone again, I got back the normal screen. I repeated locking & unlocking to check whether problem still persist or not, unfortunately the scrambled display showed up every alternate time I locked & unlocked the phone.
I thought, restarting the phone will get rid of this problem, but restart didn't solve the problem.
Then I thought of resetting the phone to its factory setting. I restored the phone to its original settings through *#7370# code but it was a futile effort.
I checked about this issue on the web and found that lot of other people are also facing the same issue.

Now after a lot of reading on the web, I feel the display problem is a hardware issue and will get solved by Nokia Care people only.
I am really disappointed with Nokia for such a poor build quality of this phone.
I trusted Nokia for its superior build quality and durability and opted for this phone but it doesn't lived to its expectations.
Now lets see what happens when I take this phone to Nokia Care...

try to make a full backup of your phone's data and try to do a full factory reset... it might help, otherwise head to the nearest Nokia Care Point

Hey, My nokia phone has the V50.0.005 Firmware but i read that v52.0.007 is the newest, when i try to update the phone the OVI Suite and the Nokia Update won't find the new one and say that i already have the newst, why is that and how can i solve this problem?

Nokia 5800 XM connection problems

Hello. I updated the nokia pc suite today to version 7.1 and it stopped working with my nokia 5800 Xpressmusic. My phone works still as a mass memory and with the other USB modes EXCEPT pc suite, and I would very much like to have that working too.
When I connect it to my pc with the mass-memory mode on, and go to pc suite with my computer, it shows the phone as connected, until I start one of the applications in pc suite (any of them from the main window) it just tells me in the lower right corner that my 5800 is disconnected, and it's gone.
Anyone can help me please?

Nokia 5800 XM MMC problem

My Nokia 5800 XM was imported from DUBAI to India. IT's been around 6 months and my memory card is getting corrupted every now and then. the Firmware is Up to date done by Nokia care here but they dont have any idea why the music files and images are getting corrupted every now and then even after numerous formats . why does the Nokia have no international warranty and such poor products ?? Can someone help me out.

User suggestions that they can try are replace memory card .
Or Hard reset to factory defaults after formatting memory card .
Anything else would be up to the seller of the goods or Nokia .
You would need to take your complaints up with Nokia .

Nokia 5800 Xpressmusic Battery Now lasts only arou...

Hi,
My 5800 used to retain battery power for 3-4 days of normal usage until my upgrade to the latest firmware. Firstly the FOTA failed. After restart it popped a "System Error" after"installing..." The Music Player also screwed and used to continously show "Fixing Corrupted Library files..(something like that)". Then i used OVI suite to transfer music and it temporarily fixed the issue.
But then i used the USB connection with Nokia Software Updater and reinstalled the firmware. all the problems were fixed. But i observed that the Battery life has now reduced to just about 18 hours!! I am not sure if its indeed the firmware but most likely so. I also did a soft reset without realising that i would lose all the smses and contact data Anway, main issue is batterypower consumption. The Nokia Energy Profiler shows a current consumption of about 170mA. It was same even before the soft reset.
Can anyone help?

First I would do as chanchan05 suggests. Some application is using power and draining the battery.
Then I would do the usual ''power saving'' settings: packet data=when needed, 3G to GSM (if 3G not needed) ...etc.
Then I would do the battery calibration:
1.Switch off the phone
2.Fully charge it
3.Unpug the charger
4.Remove the battery from the phone
5.Wait 10 minutes
6.Insert the battery back in the phone (don't switch the phone on)
7.Plug in the charger and charge again till the battery meter shows full
Switch on the phone and start Nokia Energy Profiler; turn off the screen nad wait 10 minutes. Then check mA graph (cut out the spikes from the start and from the and of the measurement when the screen was on). If the measurement shows more then ~15mA there is something wrong. My Nokia 5230 measures 6 or 7mA in standby.

Nokia 5800 Updated Firmware - Problems with Alarms

I have just updated to Custom Version 40.0.005.C01.01 and have a similar problem to other owners.
When my phone is locked and a reminder comes on, linked to the Calendar, I have no way of Stopping the alarm.
I have tried removing the battery, as suggested for other problems, but that doesn't work.
Any advice welcome

Nokia E90 firmware battery problem

Hi! I updated last week my E90 to the latest firmware. Until then, my battery lasted for more than 3 days. Now, my battery lasts for only 18-20 hours when I do not make any phone call. I do not have any bluetooth or WI-FI scanner activated. I do not know what is happened. I think it is a firmware problem. Are you going to fix it?

I had the same problem too: after installing the new firmware my battery lasted for max 24 hours, even when in standby and no calls made.
I reinstalled the firmware 48 hours ago after a full charge and the battery still is full now!!
What you need to do, in order to be able to reinstall the firmware, is downloading the latest Nokia Software Updater software. This enables you, after the message from the updater that you already have the latest firmware, to reinstall it. As I noticed already, it worked for me.

Nokia 5800 music uploading problem

Hey there, I have had alot of trouble transfering music to my phone. It transfers and plays fine, but when i transfer the songs/albums, most of them aren't what I named them on my pc and a few of my songs get sorted in with random albums
I posted on here a few days back and I was given a solution which worked perfectly (Transfering by inserting the phone memorycard into my pc, and refreshing library when transfer is complete.) the albums were exactly as i named them and so were the songs. Once i tried to upload more, it all went wrong.
Can anyone help me please

I have the same issue with track playback.
Although I hear the popping only occasionally, it does not matter what format the file is in, it happens from time to time randomly and although disappointing, it does not detract too much from my enjoyment of the music.
A more serious and fatal error that is now occurring is the freezing of playback once a file completes and tries to advance to advance to the next track.
This became a problem only recently as of July 2010. I have owned the phone since October of 2009 and have never had any issues with the handset. And indeed, have recommended and gushed over the features and ease of use of the 5800. It should be noted that the player freezes only when I play “All Songs” either randomly or from a playlist. Or, when playing even by Album or Artist, when I select next track or previous track, the player will freeze and not shut down. I am left to turn the phone off and on again to reset the player.
The phone is fully updated with the latest firmware released to the Americas market. And I use the latest Ovi Suite program for phone management. I have tried the suggested fixes of reset, restore, re-update, and even have reformatted the memory card. All of this, to no avail.
I have noticed that the Americas market is behind an update or two as to firmware and I cannot access the latest and greatest thru any Nokia website. So if I must I can be patient and wait my turn. But, if someone has an actual hard fix for this specific problem, I would be most grateful. Please, no guesses or “it may be” suggestions as I have gone thru them all already.
I know I’m not the only one with this problem as the boards threads are becoming dense enough to knit a sweater.

Nokia 5800 XM homescreen problem/questions

I have a few problems with my 5800 homescreen:
The homescreen does not rotate when I rotate my phone. First I thought the motion sensor is disabled or even broken but then I noticed that the main menu and other applications rotate correctly. Am I overlooking a setting or is this a bug?
New emails do not show up on the homescreen. I've had an E71 before and new emails would always be displayed on the homescreen.
Contacts bar and shotcut homescreen cannot be displayed at the same time. This is really annoying, because the contacts bar was one of the main reasons I bought this phone - I did not expect that it eliminates all the other homescreen options I was used to from the E71.
Can anybody help me with these issues?
Overall the homescreen does not seem to be very flexible. I've already tried to upgrade my device firmware to see if any of these bugs were resolved, but I am still stuck at v21.

Wow, all of these problems have been discussed dozens of times. Next time please search before posting, but here are answers.
1: No the homescreen does not rotate. It's not a bug, it's a "feature". Wait for a firmware update and hope that Nokia decides to do it right for a change.
2: No there aren't emails on the home screen. It's not a bug, it's a "feature". Wait for a ... blahblah
3: No, you cannot show the contacts bar and the shortcut bar at the same time. It's not a bug, it's a "feature". You know the drill. Also, no you can't show more than 4 shortcuts or 4 contacts at once.
Yes, the homescreen for the 5800 is only minimally useful. You'll learn to live with it. People are shouting for Nokia to add the widgets homescreen (like in the N97), but who knows if Nokia will see reason. At this point they're trying to keep the N97 boat from sinking at the dock, from the reviews I've read.

Nokia 5800 contacts search problem after phone swi...

Recently bought a new 5800. Used Phone Switch to retrieve contacts from older Nokia, seemed to work ok.
The problem is that ALL NEW contacts added to 5800 memory appear BELOW the contacts list (not sorted) AND cannot be found via contact search. This is very annoying. How can this be fixed?

It sometimes does this.
Unlock the phone, go into the messaging and come back out again.
The "new message" notification should stop now.

Nokia Email Beta - Battery problems

i have just recently purchased the E71. i used it for about a week before installing the new Email Service Beta. Since installing it, I don't seem to get more than 24hours out of the phone, which should last 10 days.
I also noticed that once the Nokia Email Service Beta was installed the 3G network connection stays permanently connected. I wondered if this might be part of the reason for the battery being used up so quickly?
I realise this is a very early beta, so i'm just pointing out my experience (reporting bugs) rather than looking for a solution.

If you still want to receive e-mail on the phone but don't need to know the second it arrives, then you can have the phone poll your e-mail account every 30 minutes. Furthermore, you can have it do so only between certain hours and on selected days
The phone will then only connect periodically, you'll still know fairly quickly if there's mail for you and your battery will last much longer.
IMAP4 is a good solution to synchronize mail across multiple machines. Whenever you sync to your mailbox on one machine, it'll automatically see whatever you've done previously on another machine accessing the same mailbox. Concurrent access to the same mailbox by multiple machines is still a bit of a headache.

Nokia 5800,key pad problem

The key pad is set to lock after 1 min, sometimes it doesn`t . it happened 3 times and only if I restart the phone, it gets to normal. Is my phone defective. Should I return it?

What firmware version is on your 5800? If note the latest, try upgrading to see if it fixes the issue.
If not, then contact a Nokia repair center or the retailer/operator from where you bought it.
