Non-responsive tech support

ATTENTION ADOBE TECH SUPPORT:
In early January, soon after I purchased Adobe Premiere Elements and Photoshop Elements 13, I posted on a user forum a question about a problem I am having using the Organizer People Recognition capability. That evening I received a reply from one of your support engineers, Anwesha Chaudhary ([email protected]), who promised to resolve my problem and exchanged a few emails with me. I would be glad to share that email chain with you. Note that in his Jan 12 email, he cc’d Harpreet Neelu [email protected] and Akshaya Saxena [email protected], who I assume are colleagues of his. Since the program was crashing, he requested a dump, which I sent him on Jan 12, and on that same date I received an email from him stating he had received the dump files and that they would work to resolve the problem and ‘will soon get back to [me] with the resolution’. I have not heard from him since despite twice sending him emails asking for an update. Can you help?

Bob
Thanks for your follow up. Do not give up.
Let us explore the following, non ideal but just might work...
1. Click on the following link to Adobe Chat
Contact Customer Care
Premiere Elements
Adobe ID, Signing In
Adobe ID, Sign In, Account Help
Chat Panel
If the link does not hold its sets, then you will need to navigate to the Chat Panel using the above titles as guides.
The hope is that the Chat Panel representative will be able to help you contact the Adobe person and/or department you need.
Online I have seen 1-800-833-6687 listed as Adobe Customer Service. I do not know if that is a viable choice, but worthwhile exploring it.
Other than Ask the Community, the Premiere Elements contact opportunities are far less than for the Premiere Pro and the like programs.
2. The path that is more ideal would be to post in the Adobe Photoshop Elements Forum and try to attract the attention
of Barbara Brundage who is an expert in Photoshop Elements (both its Editor and Elements Organizer). She should be
able to help you or suggest contact route to an Adobe team who will give you a now answer.

  • Non existant tech support from Adobe

    After hasling with the g
laring lack of knowledge with tech support via India I gave up on Adobe
and went with Final Cut. I was cutting off my nose to spite my face as they say but I was back into the corner. I tried to resolve an ins
tability issue with After Effect but after 6 calls to India I had to give up and be productive. I need to get back into Adobe full throttle but I can't stand their glaring disregard in supporting the professional editing community.
I would pay a yearly fee just to avoid the total inefficent knowledge lacking tech program that is in palce at present. Any hope out there?

If you give me your case number, I'll look at the case that you filed and see if there's anything that I can do to help the folks who were answering you.You can send me the case number at kopriva (at) adobe (dot) com.
What was the issue that you were calling to ask about? We can help you here.

  • CC on Mac OS 10.8.5 not working or installing; Tech Support Useless or Non-Responsive

I've used Adobe Products since '95. I am very comfortable with the "Industry Standard" of applications Adobe has offered up to now. I have a MacBook Pro that has happily run CS4-6 and felt that CC would be a good way to save a little $$ with a subscription rather than a multi-thousand dollar purchase every time I needed to upgrade.
I've been trying for 4 or 5 days now to get two major issues rectified:
Photoshop CS6 (downloaded through CC Subscription) Type Tool will not initialize. When I try to get Type Tool to work, Photoshop crashes and sends an error report.
With CS6 not able to add Type to images I try to install Photoshop CC. CC will not install. I contact Tech Support over the course of 3 days and have multiple people have access to my computer and no resolution. File Folders created for no reason, Admin Priviledges altered, Security Permissions changed and a new dummy profile for Adobe to access created. Nothing. CC Desktop Manager won't even install.
For a short period of time NONE of my Adobe products would even turn on. Received error msg that Desktop Manager was corrupt or non-existent.
This is my livelyhood. I'm self-employed and am now telling clients that I have to push back their deadlines because my software is broken and Adobe (of all companies) can't seem to fix it. Worse off, I was told that someone would call me on Friday to address these issues and no call.
I know other people are suffering through this because the forum is full of the exact same issue Windows and Mac OS. Adobe needs to fix the issues NOW and fire whomever you've outsourced your support to. They are terrible.
Who do I contact to get a refund for the last month? I've almost lost $600 worth of work in a week because of this, I don't feel I should have to pay the $50 for this month.
**I'd like to add, I've been on the phone with support for no less than 8 hours and Online Chat support for 4 more hours**

My sympathy, but, this is what you agreed to when you chose to use a free system: (From terms of service agreement, iCloud)
APPLE DOES NOT GUARANTEE, REPRESENT, OR WARRANT THAT YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE, AND YOU AGREE THAT FROM TIME TO TIME APPLE MAY REMOVE THE SERVICE FOR INDEFINITE PERIODS OF TIME, OR CANCEL THE SERVICE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE TERMS OF THIS AGREEMENT.
And this is no different from any other free service I'm afraid. Pay for your mail, then you have the right to expect service.

  • Upgraded to Firefox 4 and now the program I many alarm dealers use with Rapid Response Monitoring no longer works. RR Tech support said it had something to do with a change in Java not working with Firef 4

Rapid Response Monitoring Center developed a program for their dealers to log on to the main frame and look at customer info. The program now has a disclaimer on the log-on page Does not work with FireFox 4. RR tech support said it had to do with Java functions that were not continued in FF4. I can log on but the program will no longer display customer history or anything that seems to have a data base behind the function tab.
See www.rapidweb2000.com or call 1-800-932-3822 and ask for tech support for additional info about what they have found is the problem.

Id this the HP SimplePass Identity manager or Digital Persona fingerprint reader? If it is, the company that make the fingerprint reader have abandoned it. For more details see https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/799388

  • Is there a non-800 number for US tech support?

I need to call US tech support from France. I can't dial the 800-642-3623 for tech support in the US from France. Does anyone know a non-800 number to reach tech support for Acrobat Pro?
    Thanks.

Guess I found the answer myself. Change the 800 to 880 and it becomes a direct dial number.

  • K7t266pro-2-ru Terrible Mobo! MSI Tech support non existent

I have a K7t266pro-2-ru ver 2.0 and it will not boot from floppy to dos. Therefore I cannot update the bios nor load an operating system. Tried Update 2 but they have you make a floppy.( which this board won't boot from. )Wrote to MSI Tech support several times(You think they would know the problem) never getting any answer. Think I will get an Asus or Biostar Motherboard and throw this one away. Tried everything including loading hard drive on another computer. Works then(Sort of) No way to disable bios protection.(Not even in the list) Anyone interested in a motherboard CHEAP

Its the Motherboard, and i too am having problems with my MSI at the moment for different reasons, which is also leading me to a decision for another motherboard (Gigabyte/Epox are mobo's i have never had ANY problems with, and if there were any, there is excellent support for both of these)
I don't think it is a faulty motherboard, since other ppl are claiming to have the same problems with this model motherboard. Msi need to program Bios a little better than they're doing, since i think it may be a bios problem. X(
I'm not 100% sure it's a bios problem since there have to be others using this board without problems. I have tried different versions with no success. I would suspect a design flaw. Note this board has been discontinued. When I use Si Soft Sandra it did not even have the 1.44 floppy in the list of supported floppy drives. On mine the floppy drive works after the O/S gets up and running but will not boot to the floppy. I got disgusted with tech support and bought a Gigabyte GA-7vrxp. Works great, but now I have a very expensive K7T266 Pro-2 RU paperweight. Not even sure if I want to send it back to get fixed. Seems like throwing good money after bad considering the lack of support. Hate to bash MSI but I'm calling it the way I see it, after many attempts to get any kind of response what so ever. I will try a different brand of floppy as Bas suggested but I don't have much hope.

  • The worst Tech support of any company - EVER

I have posted 4 responses on a ticket to call me today 1-23-14 @ 2:30pm EST
I figure no one reads the responses since no one called me today as it is now 3:25pm EST and no one has called me on this ticket as I have requested
I called into tech support again and am now waiting on a call back that is supposed to happen in the next 35 to 45 minutes
If there was a way to voice my displeasure working with your tech support department I would.
Conveniently there is nowhere on your website to complain to anyone although it would probably go unanswered as I think your company only wants the initial sale then could care less about your customers after the sale!

  • Is there in fact a real, live MOZILLA TECH SUPPORT PERSON who can respond??

Is there ANYONE out there who can identify and correct the problem causing intermittent non-functionality of my ATT/Yahoo email on FF? Evidently this is indeed a FF issue, as my email works fine with another browser on my Ipad. Does Mozilla in fact have in-house tech support people??
To re-iterate the problem as I described it in this forum a week ago--but to which I had no response--I can open the email page, but it does not refresh to load new emails; I cannot compose and send, cannot delete, and cannot open any folders.
I re-set FF, re-loaded an earlier version (that subsequently up-dated to v.22 on its own), tried System Restore. I spoke with ATT tech support then as well--at least they have live support, for free--and at the conclusion of nearly an hour the problem went away--until today, again--despite the tech's assertion that she did nothing, that perhaps an up-date had not completed loading?
Today I downloaded the FF "Troubleshooter" software--that didn't help, either.
I REALLY would appreciate an upper-level technician from Firefox/Mozilla responding to this--with a solution!
    Thank you!

This is Mozilla's tech support. Like most providers of free software, mozilla doesn't have a dedicated phone support system, but this site is manned by both staff (like me) and community members. You get support for ATT because you pay monthly to use their services.
You should make sure you update to Firefox 23 (22 is out of date and no longer supported), and try all the steps at your previous post ([https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/966272]). Specifically, try a new profile or Reset Firefox [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems]].
I'm going to lock this thread since it's a duplicate, and please follow up on your previous thread. Thank you!

I need to get a job here....  Must have good benefits....

Those reps are pretty much useless as they're spoon fed everything and if it isn't written down or in a knowledge base, you're just wasting your time with them.
    DodgerCats wrote:
I also asked them if the update would install FRG22D rather than the build that ruined my phones last week, and they didn't even know what I meant by "build". All they said was "You should download the 2.2 update, your phone will run better." Then they disconnected my call when I kept pressing the question about the build. Also, when I called tech support last week, they kept telling me to take my phone to a store to get it flashed. I live in Los Angeles, went to 3 large Verizon corporate stores and NONE have these machines that tech support is talking about!
It doesn't appear that FRG22D will be a full build but more of a patch (only 1.6MB compared to the ~45 or 76 for the Froyo OTA) over the existing FRG01B build and only allows flash to be seen in the market and has a few security updates.   As for reflashing the phone, all they need is a PC and google and they can put you back.

  • An infuriating exchange with tech support

Since Verizon seems to have no higher tier than this to register concerns about service, I'll air my grievance here.
I few days ago, I began to have trouble logging in to servers hosted by a well known web hosting company. I've been logging in to these servers several times a week for more than a year. I figured that the problem was at the server end, so rather than calling the web host tech support, I just went about my other business, figuring that they'd probably notice something askew and fix it within a day or so. But, on the following day, I had the same problem.
I did all the usual stuff at my end, as in trying a different browser, clearing the caches on both browsers, trying a different computer and yet another browser, powering everything down and reseating all the cabling connections... all the usual things. Occasionally, I was able to log on for a few minutes, then the connection would time out or I'd get a "can't find server" error message as I would move from one task to another.
I checked with some team members that work on that web site with me (not Verizon customers), and none of them was experiencing the kinds of difficulty I was having (and yes, we all use the same login credentials). I called the web host and they said they were not aware of any problem at their end. After a fairly thorough discussion of the problem, they said it sounded like a problem with my isp. That would be Verizon.
Ok, so I call Verizon tech support, and I get this very nice gentleman who tried to help me. We went over the whole history of the problem, and even got the web host tech on a conference call. No joy. This goes on for a couple of hours, and as we all know, at a certain point you're actually going backwards in terms of troubleshooting. We reached that point. But that's not the infuriating part.
Things started to unravel when our attempt to create a new network connection failed. Lost my original network connection in the process, too, which gave me some consternation, but I managed to get it back after a few mumbled curses. On hold for awhile, and then the nice gentleman comes back and starts to talk about the fact that I'm running an airport extreme as a router for some of my equipment. It's actually a redundancy but it's definitely not the problem, since the machine I normally run doesn't even use that particular network connection. I'm a little frazzled at this point and do not appreciate this detour.
My time is not entirely without value, and during this troubleshooting session I received an email message from a client that needed me to address a task for them immediately. I told the nice Verizon gentleman that we didn't seem to be making any progress, I had work that needed to be done rather urgently, and asked if we could take a breather for awhile and attack the problem later with a fresh outlook. He asked me to hold while he spoke to his supervisor. Ok, I go on hold again.
After a few minutes he comes back and starts talking about my terms of service not allowing me to run an exchange server... which has nothing to do with me, and nothing to do with my problem. I find it troubling that after being on the phone with this gentleman for more than 2 hours, he comes up with something completely irrelevent to talk about, but you know when they start referring to your terms of service, they're trying to absolve themselves of responsibility. He might have had better luck if he'd said the terms of service did not guarantee access to a particular web site or service. It does in fact say that, but you know they only bring that up when they have no clue how to solve your issue, and they're done trying to help you.
That infuriated me. If you can't help me, fine fine fine, but don't keep me on the phone for 2 hours, doing increasingly absurd tasks, and then have some supervisor (whose name is purported to be {edited for privacy} Jimenez, and this call center is ostensibly based in Costa Rica) go rooting through the TOS to find an excuse not to deal with it any more.
I told him the nice gentleman that I know he tried to help me but that we'd run out of road, and that although that was frustrating, I wouldn't have been so annoyed if Mr. Jimenez (if that is indeed his name) hadn't suggested that TOS gambit... which wasn't even the correct TOS gambit.
So I'm now back at square one, and seriously considering other options for an isp. I'll continue to look for answers at this end, but I can't really use a service that can't establish and/or maintain a connection to a very common web hosting service (it's a top-of-the-line company, not Fred's super discount web sites or anything) that I need to access on a near daily basis. What I really don't understand is, what's changed in the last few days? Nothing has changed at my place.
Thanks for the opportunity to vent. I'm now going to look for an address for Verizon Corporate... sometimes they can goose people to find solutions to intransigent problems when no one else can. If anybody has the least clue of what this problem might be, please respond. And wish me luck!

I am completely disappointed, frustrated and angry!!  I have spent over 9 hours on the phone with tech support - in India.  This would not be a problem, but it seems these techs at the call center don't really know anything about Adobe products.  And..... they speak very poor english.  I even had one agent put me on hold for 45 minutes!!!  It was at that time I realized what a sucker I was for waiting that long and hung up.   They don't document the cases that well, because I've called at least 30 times.  Each time I get asked what the problem is, after I've given them my case number.  At a certain point, and as much as we designers pay for these products, I just want to speak with someone who can help and communicate well with me.   Sorry for the rant, but it's ridiculous.
I recently upgraded my Creative Suite master collection to CS6 Creative Cloud Master Collection.  Here are my system specs:
    3.06 Ghz Core 2 Duo
    6 GB RAM
    OS- (currently) 10.7.4
CS6 Creative Cloud worked great with Mac OS 10.6 - no issues.  However, like an idiot, I upgraded to Mac Os x 10.7.4.   Immediately - all Adobe products would work until  I saved a project a second time.  So here's the scenario no matter what product I use:
    1.  Open application (photoshop, illustrator, indesign, premiere, etc...)
    2. begin using application - no prob just yet.
    3. Save / Save As project.  saves fine.
    4. Work some more - fine
    5. Save Project -  application crashes / spins, application not responding (gets to 83% and crashes / spins everytime).   However, do a Save As - different project name, no crash!
    6. Upon Saving a second time and application becoming un-responsive,  I will try to Force Quit from finder.  This causes my entire system to become un responsive.  Only solution is to shut off the computer.
So Far I have done the following-
    1. reinstalled all applications
    2. Manually removed all applications and associated files - caches, prefs, etc.   /  re-installed.  Doesn't work
    3. Created another user and tried applications with same results.
    4. Tried the Root User
    5. Reinstalled yet again.
    6.  Checked for bad fonts.  no avail.
Cany anyone please help! I'm missing deadlines as it's been a five day issue!!!!!

I thank you all for taking the time to respond.  Your help and input is greatly appreciated.
David_B — to answer your questions.
-The problem has happened with all items in the suite, but mainly with illustrator, photoshop and indesign
-I was previously using CS4 before my upgrade.  But again, CS6 was working fine with OS 10.6.8
-Project freezes are occuring with both old projects and new ones.
-Earlier version, CS4 has since been uninstalled as tech support had me manually uninstall all softwares.
    - The computer is on a simple network. We tend to work from a file server, however, the issue also occurs when saving to desktop or primary drive.
-When I save second time, and software freezes, I am saving to same location, trying to over-write the file.
    Manish-Sharma—
I've tried both.  Saving the files to desktop, my user document folder, and our file server.
It also appears, that the article you linked is something I have not tried.  I will give this a try today.  Thanks!
    Gavante—
Thanks for trying to help calm me down.
Please don't misunderstand.  You are correct, the people I've spoken to have all been very nice.  They're just doing their jobs.
However, I have asked several times to recieve elevated help.  The last phone call I was on yesterday, prior to writing this lasted an hour +.  I spoke to 5 different individuals, all who continued to pass me on to someone of equal support level.  By this time I was very frustrated.  The last individual made a concerted effort to let me speak to the senior level support.  He assured me I would definitely recieve a call back in 10 to 15 minutes from a senior level support agent.
That was yesterday at 2pm.  I have yet to receive a call.
It's also not an issue of me being able to understand the agents accents.   Quite the opposite.... It is they who have trouble understanding me, making swift communication very difficult. Which, as you can imagine, to a consumer trying to get an issue resolved is frustrating.

  • Verizon tech support for FIOS - how to get around the attitude.

Most are helpful, but some are rather disdainful of macs or linux, or act surprised if you have more than one computer.
A: Well, if I only had one computer, why would I need a router?
Linux does not need any special support, and in fact runs quite beautifully on FiOS and the router without any setup at all. It recognizes the router and self-adjusts with DHCP auto. Actually it's much faster and less flawed than Windows.
Linux doesn't have any recognized or known virus. At all. FUD is generated at various times during calls to FiOS support when I make the mistake of mentioning linux. They act like it's going to break their network.
I'm an Admin from MSFT, and MSFT uses linux. Extensively. They just don't like to talk about it. "Seven" = NT 7.0. NT is MSFT's version of UNIX, which they licensed fom Novell.
So, even microsoft contains unix code. Tada.  Lets' drop the operating system arguments for now though.
I have three Dell servers, six Dell and HP desktops, and two laptops. All but two of them run linux full time, and only one is dual boot. Both laptops run linux exclusively and so do three of the desktops and ALL my servers. I've never in 12 years had a linux virus, and I never will. No, I don't even run a firewall, and there is no linux antivirus software accepted by the linux distributions, because it's useless. Not needed.
All of these machines, XP, Vista, Ubuntu, Slackware, and Red Hat Server run on four brainless hubs, or switches. A switch is not capable of DHCP or DNS routing. They are passive devices which are not capable of blocking a router. They only stop working when they die. You can have switches [hubs] in ANY conceivable chain or configuration, and they still work the same, as they all take commands from whatever routers you have.
The only router in my home is the verizon router. I have no need of others, but I've run dual and even triple routers before without a single problem. You set the extra routers to 192.168.2.1 instead of 1.1. Third router? 192.168.3.1. And so on. Painless.
None of these devices have yet failed or ever blocked internet access, yet half the time when I call verizon FiOS, the tech people tell me to connect directly to the router with my laptop. I've always just TOLD them that I did, but I never ever did that. It's not necessary. If you can't connect to 192.168.1.1, the router is dead. checking hubs is an astoundingly simple task that only takes a second... you just go to any other computer on that hub, or plug in my laptop, and see if you can get through. I've had one hub fail in the last 8 years, and that didn't fool me for more than a minute. I replaced it and was back in biz without tech support help.
ONLY in the instance where only ONE computer is down, does it make sense to isolate the router. Thus, the FiOS people are just trained to eliminate the obvious, but they also talk smack. MOCO? Why would I have a major OC24 type network connection in my home? I've been hit with just such questions. Wouldn't verizon know if I had a backbone connection through them???
Here's the deal: Buy your own equipment, and get warranties. Unless the external box, ONT I believe they call it, has died, you're not likely to get a lot of support anyway - since verizon will not talk about anything other than their router and the ONT.  Save time and just be aware of your own eqiupment. I'm on my sixth day of having no FiOS since Verizon sent me a new also bad router and now I'm awaiting another replacement by the UPS people. Speed is not a hot button issue with verizon service apparently, but they are better than comcast.
Good thing about verizon is that they don't appear to cap bandwidth, and for that I respect them no matter how much garbage I get from a few of the tech support staff. Even most of those people are pretty nice. One of them actually talked linux with me for a half hour, and that was a breath of fresh air.
Verizon needs to realize that there are three to six times more linux operating systems in use now worldwide than all windows products combined. The US Army and US Navy have switched to linux systems and dumped windows. I'm shopping for another new desktop, and I'm only buying penguin computers. I won't buy "7" because I've seen the source code, and don't have a high opinion of it. Linux is more robust, and for whatever reason, MSFT still refuses to implement the System Five and UNIX security levels that are inherent to a safe Operating System, and a kernel component of unix. I don't see why not. NT is capable, but all suggestions to turn it 'on' are ignored.
I want to see verizon get with the program and start to support linux. After all, it's fifteen times cheaper to maintain, and three times less expensive to develop for. Verizon would never have to deal with spyware and viruses from its users ever again. One day I hope verizon will wake up.
In the meantime, it would be nice if the tech support at FiOS wouldn't misinform clients and customers about linux, macs, and having several computers in the home. There's nothing at all wrong with that. I just bought a netbook from you folks and I'm using that now to get online.

All I have to say about that is, "People fear what they do not know." Everyone has a comfort zone. Some people's comfort zone is larger than others, or encompasses different aspects of life. Most Windows users aren't comfortable with Mac or Unix operating systems. Most English speakers aren't comfortable with foreign languages. Most two-year-olds aren't comfortable with spinach.
    C'est la vie.

  • Firefox 13 is unusable hanging/non-responsive. I've downgraded flash, uninstalled plugins & un/reinstalled Firefox but I can't use it to try other possibl fixes

Since updating to Firefox 13 it not only runs slow but hangs and becomes non-responsive on all different websites. I was told that the most recent Flash update was known to be incompatible with Ffx 13, so down-dated Flash and uninstalled non-essential plugins - which definitely helped, but has not fixed the problem.
I haven't even been able to try the other potential fixes I've found on the Support site (adding into my computer's safe settings in case of firewall issue or creating a new profile) because Firefox won't work long enough for me to access them. At this point, shouldn't I just down-date to the last version of Firefox??

All of a sudden firefox has become unstable - its hanging on the NYTIMEs website. I've done done everything - uninstalled, reinstalled, removed all add-ons, used default themes, reset firefox. Some serious problem here - I had to switch back to IE9. (Version 16.0.1 Firefox running under Windows 7)
Oh by the way, I'm having the same problem on different computers all of which are running the latest firefox under Windows 7

  • Lightroom 4 crashes when trying to open the slideshow module. I spent over three hours with both Adobe and Apple tech support and we know it is a permission issue but have not been able to get it solved.  It started with the last upgrade to 10.8

    Back up all data.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
    Step 1
If you have more than one user account, and the one in question is not an administrator account, then temporarily promote it to administrator status in the Users & Groups preference pane. To do that, unlock the preference pane using the credentials of an administrator, check the box marked Allow user to administer this computer, then reboot. You can demote the problem account back to standard status when this step has been completed.
Triple-click the following line to select it. Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    { sudo chflags -R nouchg,nouappnd ~ $TMPDIR.. ; sudo chown -Rh $UID:staff ~ $_ ; sudo chmod -R u+rwX ~ $_ ; chmod -R -N ~ $_ ; } 2> /dev/null
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command will take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2 (optional)
The first step should give you usable permissions in your home folder. This step will restore special attributes set by OS X on some user folders to protect them from unintended deletion or renaming. You can skip this step if you don't consider that protection to be necessary.
Boot into Recovery by holding down the key combination command-R at startup. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.
When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open.
In the Terminal window, type this:
    resetpassword
That's one word, all lower case, with no spaces. Then press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not  going to reset a password.
Select your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select
     ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.
