Noob: Trying to build a simple application

Basically I am a complete noob at this programming and i have NO clue. i do know how to work with HTML and internet related stuff. i am a iweb user and am trying to make me a little application:
(watch out for italic parts)
it basically should be a tool that you start as soon as you have published your site via iweb. you can then
1. choose the location of where you published your site (including iDisk) and hit ok. this should then happen:
1a. a sitemap is generated in the xml format at the position selected above!
1b. now you will return to the main window
2. now you will enter the address of your sitemap (after, eg.: having uploaded to your domain) and hit enter, this will PING google that the sitemap has been updated meaning when i would enter:
http://XYZ.com/sitemap.xml
- a browser window with this address will appear:
http://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/ping?sitemap=http://XYZ.com/sitemap.xm l
can a noob like me create this? if yes - how!
thanks, this would be great if someone could help me! id love to donate to those helping me! so reward around here!
max

Hi
This all sounds do-able in Java (and probably any other language you can name), but I'm not sure how easy it would be for a noob. In my experience of teaching programming, I would expect this to be at least a second year problem: for example, building a dynamic sitemap of an existing site would seem to the require the use file handling, some html decoding and perhaps binary trees or some such. Everyday stuff to the experienced code hacker but tricky for noobs. If you've never programmed before then this is probably too ambitious for you right now.
Best wishes
Bob

    This is the wrong patch - you need the patch for the Runtime 2005, not for 2008.
    Those kernels were build with Visual Studio 2005 and hence you need that runtime.

  • Problem building a simple 2x VI application

    Hello,
    After 5 years of pause (LV version 6.1) I tried to build a simple application under version 8.2. the application is consisted of 2 simple VIs - the 1st gathers some keyboard input and passes some strings and a VISA Resource (COM port ID) to the 2nd that should capture single chars from a specified COM port and executes simple command lines. The 1st VI triggers the 2nd by passing the corresponding parameters. The problem is when I build the standalone EXE with the 1st VI as a top - the 2nd one fails to open its window allthough its instance shows up on the task bar!?
    I guess I am messing with the build-settings but can't find a sollution. Can anybody suggest one?
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi golu...,
    have you set the vi properties correctly? The 2nd vi is probably called as simple subvi...
    So in the window appearance properties you have to enable 'show front panel when called' and 'close front panel when finished'!

  • Building a simple field based application with OA framework

    Hello everyone,
    I have an assignment to build a simple form that takes in some parameters and in which some of the fields will be validated with a value set. Using the information from this form, I then have to use the parameters in a PL/SQL function/procedure and return a value of successful or not.
    Basically a simple form based application.
    I was wondering if it is possible to do this in OA Framework. All I hear about is extensions and personalizations but is it possible to build a simple application with it?
    Also, can anyone point me to a good tutorial showing how to build a simple application in OA framework?
    Or if OA framework won't do the job, can I use ADF (on oracle 11i) to accomplish this?
    Thanks a lot in advance

  • Desesperatly trying to deploy a simple standalone application...

    Hi,
    i've been trying to deploy a simple application but i have a problem when using the command line "java -jar myarchive.jar"...i have a "java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError" !
    I make the archive via Jdev, by using "Making a simple Jar archive", i let the default arguments but i don't really know what to put in the field "Main class".
    I only have a class which is in a package :
    My class is in c:\jdev\mywork\myproject\classes\mypackage1
    I try different things in the "Main class" field :
    1) c:\jdev\mywork\myproject\classes\mypackage\myclass
    2)c:\jdev\mywork\myproject\classes\mypackage.myclass
    but it does not work...
    thanks you for helping me...

    If you've taken the defaults and have something like Class1.java in the package mypackage1. Then the value you put in the Main Class field of the deployment profile is: (without the quotes) "mypackage1.Class1"
    Note:
    The case of the package and class names must be correct
    There is no .class extension mentioned

  • Workshop Building Oracle ADF Applications

    Hi all
    i tried the Building Oracle ADF Applications: Workshop and still have a problem:
    If i navigate from BrowserCustomers.do to eg. EditCustomers this works fine. In the EditCustomers i have my Cancel Button that implements the event_rollback. If i run the application in the IE navigate to EditCustomers an click on Cancel button a go back to the BroseCustomers view. But although i see the context of the BrowseCusomers view the url-adresslist gives me /CustomerMaintenace-ViewController-context-root/EditCustomers.do.
    So if i click on Button NextSet in BrowseCustomers view i am again in the EditCustomers.
    I checked several times the code with the one in the workshop but didnot find anything wrong.
    Any ideas ??

    I got the same problem.
    I think its related to the Edit link, wich is :
    a href="index.jsp.do?event=setCurrentRowWithKey&Arg0=<c:out value='${Row.rowKeyStr}' />&event=Edit"
    The probleme come from the fact that there's two parameter name event.
    Anyone knows a right way to select a row and forward to the edit page in the same link ??
    thx for your help

  • Running JMS simple application from java standalone program stucks

    Hi All, i`m new to JMS service, and tried to code a simple application from the J2EE guide. They use standalone j2ee client application there, and i did not
    dound any way to debug it from eclipse .. so i have coded following standalone app (not j2ee client JAR) to produce simple messages
    public class producerMain {
         public static void main(String argv[]) throws NamingException, JMSException
              Properties jndiProp = new Properties();
              jndiProp.put(javax.naming.Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY,"com.sun.enterprise.naming.SerialInitContextFactory");
              jndiProp.put(javax.naming.Context.PROVIDER_URL, "localhost:3920");
              InitialContext context =new InitialContext(jndiProp);
              ConnectionFactory factory = (ConnectionFactory)context.lookup("sashaConnectionFactory");
              Queue queue = (Queue)context.lookup("jms/Queue");
              System.out.println("Got here");
              Connection connection = factory.createConnection();
    Session session = connection.createSession(
    false,
    Session.AUTO_ACKNOWLEDGE);
    MessageProducer producer = session.createProducer(queue);
    TextMessage message = session.createTextMessage();
    for (int i = 0; i < 5; i++) {
    message.setText("This is message " + (i + 1));
    System.out.println("Sending message: " + message.getText());
    producer.send(message);
    producer.send(session.createMessage());
    producer.close();
    session.close();
    connection.close();
    factory = null;
         context.close();
         System.out.println("Quiting application");
    application works .. it sends a messages .. but it does not quit .. (dozens of new threads get opened, besides the main thread, which quits, but other threads
    does not quit .. and the application stucks .. )
    Does anyone know, why does it stuck .. what are those threads ? and why does not they finish ?
    Thanks, Regards Sasha.

    Thanks.
    changing to
    exp.append("\n");and flushing the writer stream and closing the stream fixed the problem.
    Why do we have to flush the stream?
    and, why do we have to close the writer before reading? what if I want to continue writting in to the writer?
    thanks again.

  • Problem trying to develop a simple ADF Application

    Hi all,
    I am using Jdev 11.1.1.0 and webLogic 10.3.1
    I have a simple application with only a welcome message and a table.
    I am trying to deploy it, but I am a little confused.
    I have created the Application Server Connection succesfully.
    What have I to do now? I suppose, I have to create a deployment profile.
    If I right click on myApplication-->New-->Deployment profiles--> I can choose only EAR file or MAR file (not WAR file, like described in the manual 35.3.2). What I have to do?
    Instead, if I right click on ViewController-->New-->Deployment profiles--> I can choose more files (ADF Library JAR file, Client JAR File, JAR File, RAR File, Taglib JAR File, WAR File).
    If I choose this way, have I anything to do with the Model? if I right click on Model-->New-->Deployment profiles--> I can choose more files (ADF Library JAR file, Business Components Archive, Business Components EJB Session Bean, Business Components Service Interface, Client JAR File, JAR File, RAR File).
    Please help.
    Thanks

    The deploy seems to works, in fact Jdevelepor gives to me:
    Building...
    Deploying 2 profiles...
    Wrote Web Application Module to myFolder\ViewController\deploy\webapp1profile.war
    Wrote Enterprise Application Module to myFolder\deploy\application1EARProject.ear
    Deploying Application...
    The task cannot be processed further until the current edit session is activated. When this occurs, task processing will continue. The user can exit the deployer tool without affecting the task.
    Operation 'deploy' on application 'application1EARProject' has succeeded on 'AdminServer'
    Application Deployed Successfully.
    Elapsed time for deployment: 15 seconds
    But when I go to the URL: http://<host>:port/<context root>/faces/<page> I have the same problem: I can not see the page correctly, I continue to see only the welcome message, but not the table
    Any other suggestions?
    thanks again

  • Trying to do the simple HelloWorld java application for portal

    Hi:
    i've been trying to do the simple java application HelloWorld so that i can get a view of how will it be to integrate a pure java application that we have in a later step. The fact is that i've been following "how to build a java portlet" and "packaging and deploying your provider" documents.
    i've taken the code from that document:
    public class HelloWorldApp {
    public static void main (string[] args){
    //Display "Hello World!"
    System.out.println("Hello World!");
    That's my java code. (in fact i want to do this as a trial, 'cause later i will
    do the same with a java application of our own).
    So i compiled it, taken the .class, jar it and packaged it as told in the
    second document.
    I've deployed it in OC4J_portal and when i try to access the URL i get an

    does anybody know how to solve this problem?
    Thx.
    Regards. Urko.

    Hi Urko,
    Such an application as you have quoted will not have much luck as a Portlet - the code you supplied simply writes "Hello World" to standard out!
    Think of a portlet more like a servlet - you have an output stream to write to which, under the covers, is wired back up to the Portal Server which assembles the content into the page seen in the browser.
    Take a look at the extensive range of sample Java Portlets available with the PDK download.
    Anyway, from the stack trace it looks like you're using JavaRenderer. JavaRenderer invokes an arbitrarily named method on an arbitrary class **provided** that method takes a single argument of type PortletRenderRequest. So you would need something like:-
    public class MyApp
    // A bunch of app-specific code.
    public void renderPortlet(PortletRenderRequest pr)
    PrintWriter out = pr.getWriter();
    out.println("<b>Hello World</b>");
    Then, the relevant provider.xml section would look something like this....
    <showPage class="oracle.portal.provider.v2.render.http.JavaRenderer>
    <className>MyApp</className>
    <renderMethod>renderPortlet</renderMethod>
    </showPage>
    Hope this helps.....

    Gareth

  • Error when trying to build my Application

    Whenever I try to build my Mac Application (A Simple Text Editor) it comes up with the following error:
    Code Sign error: The identity 'Mac Developer' doesn't match any valid, non-expired certificate/private key pair in your keychains
    What's wrong?

    Hi,
    Have you built this application successfully in previous versions of LabVIEW? Are any VIs, especially those being included in the build, running? You may want to ensure that all VIs are stopped, saved, and closed. Also, you may want to check your code to ensure that all opened references are closed when the code is run.
    I hope that helps!

    I am in the process of doing a Proof Of Concept / Evaluating products that can help us build a Java Application to Convert a PDF document to a Searchable PDF.
    I wanted to check is there any simple JAVA API from Adobe to achive this ? Any direction in this regard is greatly appreciated.@

    You can achieve this using LiveCycle PDF Generator JAVA API. You can find required code here:
    Adobe LiveCycle * Quick Start (SOAP mode): Converting a Microsoft Word document to a PDF document using the Java API
    In parameters:
    //Set createPDF2 parameter values
    String adobePDFSettings = "Standard";
    String securitySettings = "No Security";
    String fileTypeSettings = "Standard OCR";
    "Standard OCR" file type setting will run OCR on input pdf. In the code, instead of doc file provide a pdf file. Resultant pdf will be searchable PDF i.e OCRed PDF.
    Feel feel to ask any further questions.

    You might want to look at my blog post at http://tinyurl.com/codesign .
