Not sending replies on calender invites

I have a problem with my iCloud calenders.
When i get an invitation to a meeting i get an e-mail which has an attached .ics file. When I press it, it gets into calender and I can choose maybe decline or accept which is all fine.
Then problem is that it does not send a confirmation e-mail to the person who invited me. What is wrong?
It does not matter if it is on my mac, iPhone or iPad that I accept it. Besides that on my mac it automatically goes to the calender which is the third on the list, even if it is not the default one...

A spammer is masquerading as you by using your "good name" email address as the apparent sender of his spam. Since his spam program is sequentially creating and guessing delivery usernames for whatever mail server his program is attacking at the moment, bad addresses at a victim mail server will kick out error messages and send them to you coz' the spammer used your email address as the from and/or reply-to address. There is nothing that you can do about it except set up a junk rule that if "from" address contains "MAILER-DAEMON" or whatever is common in the sender name of the error messages that the victim mail servers are bombarding you, to delete it immediately, and also work with your ISP, as you did, so the ISP can filter them out at his level before pushing them down the pipe to you.
So how exactly would the solution they used have worked? Wouldn't there still be a flood of messages reporting delivery errors because the spammer would still be spoofing the email address? I don't know much about this so I'd like to understand your explanation a little better.

The ability to see and send calendar invites is a function of the calendar you are subscribing to and who owns it. We need more information, like what calendar are you subscribing to? MS Exchange? Google? Mobile Me?

  • Can we disable the 'Do not send a response' option for invitations?

Our organization recently migrated to Outlook \Exchange 2010 from Lotus Notes\Domino R7.0.4. Users are getting frustrated with the many limitations, or hopefully our lack of understanding, related to calendaring in Outlook.
    Current Issue:
Employees can select "Do Not Send a Response" to meeting invitations, but still accept the invitations for their personal calendars. This can be very frustrating to the invitee, who is attempting to orchestrate complex meetings, since they do not
get updates for invitees who have accepted the meeting using this option.
It is plausible that all invitees could accept a meeting, but choose not to send a response. The originator of the meeting may than cancel the meeting, thinking, "what's the point, no one accepted it". The originator or an Admin staff should have
the ability to disable the "Do not Send a Response" option or at least have the option to require a response if desired.
Additionally, when invitees do send a response, it would be nice to have an option not to see response in the form of an email, but simply as an update to the Calendar 'Attendees' status, to avoid inbox clutter.
Lotus Notes had these functions at least 10 years ago, so I'm sure we are just overlooking a setting or configuration. Any guidance Microsoft support or readers can provide would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
We can disable that option via GPO.
Please refer to Disable user interface items and shortcut keys in Office 2010:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc179143(v=office.14).aspx
After adding the Office 2010 GPO templates to the domain, in Group Policy Management go to:
User Configuration / Polices / Administrative Templates / Microsoft Outlook 2010 / Disable Items in User Interface / Custom
    Add the following Policy ID's: 19987, 19995 and 19991.
This will disable the three menu items "Do Not Send a Response" below the buttons Accept, Tentative and Decline. When the mouse pointer points to the disabled ("grayed out") menu item a message is shown telling the user that this menu is disabled by the
    administrator.
If you are not used to the email response, simply create a rule to move all these responses to a single folder and clean them up periodically:

  • ICal not sending invites

    Hey,
Is there anybody experienced tha problem when trying to send invite (meeting request) via iCal it sais:
iCal could not send the invitation.
To send invitations, create a card in Address Book.
I've created Address Book card for that person but it didn't solve my problem.
    Any thoughts?

Solution: just add yourself in Address Book and click "Card" -> "Make This My Card" for iCal to know whom to put in "From" field.

  • Calendar not sending invitations

My calendar does not send meeting invitation once I press 'done'.

My calendar does not send invitations when I add the attendees. According to the guide it should automatically send these invitations once I enter the contact details and press 'done'. I have tried it with both individual and multiple invitations.
Please advice as this is a a key feature that I require.
PS - I have also tried reinstalling the latest update.

  • Calendar not sending invites

    Hello All,
We are using a Snow Leopard Server for our iCal server and since we upgraded to Mavericks our Calendar application will now not send out the invited to people we add to the calendar events. Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Rich

I have been doing quite some search and tried multiple things like resetting daemons etc. but nothing there. Then I tried to use another calendar app and sync to that app using the CalDAV server I have at home on my Synology disk station .... I soon as I have activated my CalDAV account - oh magic - invites sending was suddenly back. Morale of the story: if you activate a CalDAV/iCloud/Google account -- even without publishing anything there -- this seems to reactivate notifications. And yes this seems a beautiful bug (or feature ) in Calendar code and I hope that Apple will fix it. But for now this workaround solved my problem and hope it can help.
    All the best.

  • My ical calender does not send email alerts anymore, now what?

The alerts are configured correctly, if I look at the alert it says that an email will be send (for ex. 09.00 the day before). However when the moment comes, the email does not. Can anyone help me with this one. This is the case since the upgrade to Mavericks.

Hi Patrick, I have the same problem as does everybdy else I guess - it just wont work!
I have set My Card in address book, tested it 100 times and whatever you do it ill not send an email alert? Everything I see on forums blah blahs about setting my card in address book and hey presto but none of it helps.
Someone MUST know if it will ever work or if it is another issues that apple will never resolve, instead they will just ruin a perfectly nice looking operating system by updating it and making my phone icons and notes / bookshelf etc look like it was bought from Toys R Us instead of an Apple store!
Did you find a solution to iCal not sending email alerts? DAVID.

  • Email problems with BB synched via BES. No email notifications and can't send replies.

This isn't a question, but more of a public service announcement for those like myself that manage to screw up their email settings. I recently had problems with my email in that I would not get audible or visual notifications of new email and I couldn't send replies although I could forward and create new emails. The problem is that I am using Desktop Manager on two PCs and only one is configured to access my corporate email account, the one that is redirected to the BB. The default settings of my Desktop Manager installation was to synchronize the device date and time automatically when connected to the PC. Connecting my BB to my home machine would cause the email problems. I had to wipe and reactivate to fix my problems.
So, if you want to use the BB on two PCs and one is not configured for the email account going to the phone... disable the auto synchronization option BEFORE connecting the device to that machine and launching Desktop Manager. It would also be nice if the Desktop Manager installer had an option to install on a PC that is used for backup/recovery and application loading only. The installer had two options IIRC and your choice was that the BB is used with BES or with a personal email account.

Internally, your invites are processed by the server.
If an outside sends a new invite to you, the server doesn't know about it until you add the event to your calendar app.
You'll find settings in Mail and Calendar apps (depending on client OS) to automatically add invites to the Calendar.
    So to sum it up.
Internal users, processed in real-time directly by the server
External invites, must be processed by the client app, and depending on OS/Settings, could require manually adding or acknowleding. Also.. in 10.7/10.8 you will see an inbox tray in the Calendar app, your invites may show up there (and you'll need to click to ack)
    Hope that helps.

  • Don't send replies to calendar events?

Anyone found a way to turn off the automated reply to events on the iPhone?
I sync to an Exchange environment at work. We have ~8000 employees. It is not uncommon to receive invites for "All Hands" type meetings. As a matter of courtesy, I make it a point to NOT reply with my acceptance choice for the meeting, as I'm sure the organizer doesn't wish to receive hundreds, if not thousands of replies.
This is one of the reasons why I still use VMware with Outlook instead of iCal, and now it appears to be one of the reasons that I will not be managing my calendar from my iPhone.
    Any hints?
    Thanks!

    1) I don't see a way to not send a reply when accepting/declining a calendar invite on the iPhone. Definitely an omission.
    2) I also get calendar invites for entries I set up myself, as if I need to respond to them. Doesn't make sense, can't figure it out.
UPDATE - when I reply to someone else's invite on my PC, it pushes another invite to my calendar inbox. Why do I need to reply on the iPhone when I already have on my PC???

  • SharePoint 2010: Scheduled Web Analytics Reports workflow is not sending ANY email

    Hello,
I've a SharePoint 2010 Enterprise farm. I setup a Scheduled Web Analytics Reports workflow in a site collection with different web analytics reports options checked. So far I've not got ANY email. When I went to Site Workflows, I'm seeing that the workflow
is running. When I click on Completed status, I see below outcome in the Workflow History section:
"Email sent but reports with no data were not attached."
And I see below information in the Workflow History list:
"Attached are the daily Web Analytics reports for 1/7/2015 through 1/7/2015 for SharePoint Site Collection
http://server/team/site scheduled by workflow "SharePoint Site Web Analytics Reports". "
I am able to generate the reports manually by going to Site Collection Web Analytics Reports, but I want to schedule them. The problem is I'm not getting ANY email in my inbox. What am I missing here? Are the emails getting filtered by Outlook or workflow
is not sending emails at all?
Please help! This is getting frustrated.
    Thanks,
    Ashish

    Hi Ashish,
Based on your description, my understanding is that the email is not sent from the Scheduled Web Analytics Reports workflow.
I recommend to the things below:
    1. Check if the Outgoing email has been configured for the web application where you run the Scheduled Web Analytics Reports workflow.
In Central Administration > Application management > Manage web applications > select the corresponding web application > click General Settings in the ribbon and select Outgoing E-mail.
    2. Make sure that your account has email address configured.
    Thanks,
    Victoria

  • Duplicates appearing when user adds someone to 'to' field in Outlook 2010 calender invite

    Hi Everyone,
I have a user that when they send calender invites, when they add people in the 'to' field they will appear multiple times. i.e the contact address, the full email address etc.
We have re - imaged the PC, re created the users PST file, run outlook in online mode, Moved the users account to another DB, and still no progress, duplicates are still appearing
    See attached screenshot for example
Has anyone had to deal with this problem before, if so how was it resolved, if it was ever resolved, Help would be greatly appreciated as we are scratching our heads in IT here

    Hi,
As per the description, I understand that you'll have duplicate email addresses in the To... field when create calendar invites.
In order to understand the issue more deeply, I would like to clarify the following questions:
How did he/she "add people" in the To... field? Did he/she directly type email address or pick it from your address book?
Will the duplicate happen right after adding people in the To... field or after sending the invites?
Seems you've tried a lot on the machine side, I suggest we first try this on OWA (Outlook Web App) and see if issue persists. This will help to determine whether the issue is on the client side or the mailbox (server) side.

  • Outlook does not send meeting requests at all.

    Hi all
My problem is both annoyingly simple and frustratingly annoying, but so far i haven't been able to solve it, nor has our IT department.
In short, my Outlook doesn't send meeting requests to invite attendees. (My colleagues, same exchange server) I am the only one having this problem. When i send out a meeting request, it appears double in my calendar (asking me to accept) but nothing shows
up in my sent items, nor in their calendar. If i delete the event, this is sent out; new ones and updates are not.
To my knowledge, I use the standard IPM.Appointment form, but have used another standard form in the past (which was removed.)
A new profile doesn't help, nor does uninstalling / reinstalling Outlook 2007. I installed Outlook 2010 - same phenomenon.
It has worked all the time, but stopped working about 10 months ago, no apparent cause.
I should add that I can send out meeting requests through Exchange from my iPad and iPhone, just not from my computer. (and no, they are not related - the time i got iPad and iPhone everything worked)
OS is Windows 7 Professional 64 bits, MS Office 2010, various applications installed but none related to calendar useage / sync / ...
I am local admin, this is my work PC so no 'dubious' SW installed, nor authorised.
According to the server guys, there is nothing exceptional like the forms attached to my account - they claim it's something local, but also have no clue what it might be. Even Mr. Google or Ms. Bing do not provide an answer, so i'm hoping someone here might
outsmart everyone else and come up with a solution.
(ps - i'm quite sure it isn't "stupid user error" either, I'm an IT specialist/consultant/developer - but this one baffles me and everyone looking for it...)
Added info - on my PC, when logging in with a different account but connecting to my own exchange account, it works.
Replacing forms related info from the user/appdata folder of the functional user towards the non-functional user account didn't work. (even though the information was different)
No difference in the registry as i can see.
Tried to add ForceFormReload to the registry - no use.
I activated logging, also nothing in there.
I also receive no error whatsoever, it really is like Outlook simply isn't configured to send out meeting requests anymore...
Also, no errors in the event viewer in case you were wondering.
When working offline, it is clear that the meeting requests simply do not enter the 'outbox'. (cancellations do)
Assuming it might be a corrupt DLL somewhere, i scheduled a Chkdsk C: /F/R this evening. A long shot, yes, but grasping at straws here...
Thanks in advance for your help,
    Kind regards,
    Dennis

    solved - completely uninstalled, reboot
removed all keys in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0 (the entire folder)
removed all outlook related registry keys in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0 and 12.0, also in 8.0 and 9.0
    removed HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook completely
    rebooted
installed Office Pro2010 again, and now it works.
so in short - there was a messed-up registry key somewhere in there, that was missed by installing it, or even completely reinstalling it.
FYI - all my settings remained the same, no info or config loss except the colour profile i used...
    Grtz,
    Dennis

Yes, but you should post questions about PHP in the right forum: Dreamweaver Application Development. Also, don't just keep adding new questions to an old thread. Everything might seem related to you, but other people see a thread that has already received a lot of replies, and are likely to skip it unless they have already been involved.
