Notebook not detecting Wifi or available networks

So usually when I start up my Notebook my computer starts up and automatically connects to my home WIFI. Well yesterday when I turned on my laptop it didn't connect or even show the WIFI signal at the bottom right notification bar. Instead there was this new icon that said I had to connect my laptop to a Ethernet cabel that looks like a phone jack? When I went to my Available Networks setting Wifi wasn't even an option. This laptop has a tendancy of making changes overnight so now this is frustrating cause I can't connect to the internet of use my laptop. Someone please help!

All you got to do is wrap your Notebook in a towel (make sure notebook not exposed) then let it be in there for 5 hours. Once thats complete then your notebook should be able to detect wifi or avalible networksaalvarez391 wrote:

  • Surface Pro 3 / "Windows did not detect a properly installed network adapter"

    Hi all,
I've been running the Windows 10 Technical Preview (9926) on my Surface Pro 3 successfully
since January. Unfortunately, I lost all internet connectivity today.
The problem started when I noticed the type cover wasn't working (pressing keys on the type
cover wasn't registering any typing on my screen) and my USB mouse wasn't working either. I tried removing and reattaching the type keyboard but this didn't fix the issue. I had to use the accessibility on-screen keyboard to sign into Windows (thankfully touch
was still working). Once I signed in, I still didn't have typing or cursor ability, so I decided to restart the computer.
Then it got worse. I noticed the Surface Pro 3 was stuck on "restarting" and wouldn't
actually restart. Since it wasn't responding, I held down the power button for about 10 seconds until it turned off. When I turned it back on, the type cover and mouse started working again.
Unfortunately, this is when the WIFI problems began. I had WIFI for a few seconds, and then
I lost internet. I disconnected/reconnected but there was a yellow triangle telling me there was some sort of problem. So I restarted the Surface Pro 3.
When it came back on, there were suddenly NO connections available at all. Opening the "Network
& Internet" settings page gave me the message "Windows did not detect a properly installed network adapter". And here I am, without internet on my Surface Pro 3, borrowing my friend's computer so I can type this message (he is also running
Windows 10 build 9926 on his laptop and is able to connect to my WIFI with no problems, whereas my Surface Pro 3 cannot even detect any networks). I have not dropped or damaged the SP3 in any way, and there have been no storms or power outages or anything
of that sort. Any ideas what could have happened to the WIFI on my Surface Pro 3?
    Thanks for your help...
    Ethan

    Hi Ethan,
Currently, there are a few compatibility issue between the current hardware and Windows 10 Technical Preview (9926 build), this is mostly related to driver compatibility issue.
I suggest you download the latest network adapter driver package to install, when it is finished, check if it appears under Device Manager.
Surface Pro 3, Surface Pro 2, and Surface Pro firmware and driver packs
    https://www.microsoft.com/surface/en-us/support/networking-and-connectivity/install-wireless-drivers
You can check if you can install the latest firmware package for your device.
Here is an article to talk about such things:

  • Iphone 4s ,version 7.0.4 not detecting wifi

my iphone 4s is not detecting wifi network and i tried by reseting the network settings....but  it doesn't work...

Erase all contents and settings does not reinstall iOS.
If whatever the problem is applies to every wi-fi network the iPhone has access to, if no change after restoring the iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from the backup, the iPhone has a hardware problem.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Lenovo M90Z Not Detect WIFI Adapter

    Dear Forum
I have problem with my Lenovo Thinkcentre M90Z.
Recently, the Wifi Card was not detect any wifi signal available in the near site.
I trying to uninstall the driver to solve the problem.
But unfortunatelly, after unisntall the Wifi adapter dissapear from the network adapter list.
I have try re-isntall the driver but no result.
Also try to re-attach the WIFI card to the slot, but it still not recognized by the OS.
    Any solution for this problem?
Here the screen capture of the device manager and the network adapter list :

Have you tried Safe mode with Networking? Check if the adapter is being detected in Safe mode. You can reboot in Safe Mode by pressing the 'F8' key repeatedly as soon as you turn on the computer. If you're using Windows 8, refer to this link for how to start your system in Safe Mode:
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/windows-startup-settings-including-safe-mode
If the adaptor is being detected in Safe Mode, try updating the drivers and uninstalling any new hardware or software that you might have installed recently. If it still doesn't work, try doing a system restore back to the point when the adaptor was detected.
If the adaptor is still not getting detected even in Safe Mode, it's probably a faulty adaptor, or it might not be connected properly on the mother board. You might have to open the system to check the connections. Keep in mind that opening the system up might void your warranty if the system is still in warranty.

    Rats.
I hope the replacement card fixes the problem.  Over the years I have had just one bad network card -- and it drove me nuts tracking down that it was, indeed, a failed card.

  • Iwlwifi does not detect present 802.11n networks

I just got a new laptop, and the iwlwifi driver it's using is not detecting 802.11n networks that I know are there. My old laptop, which is also using the iwlwifi driver, is currently connected to that network less then 2 feet away. The old laptop has kernel 3.4.4, whereas the new one has kernel 3.4.7. Is that the problem, or is it the card?
    New laptop:
03:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation Centrino Wireless-N 2200 (rev c4)
    iwconfig wlan0 says "IEEE 802.11bgn"

I know that. Are you saying the new 2200 only does N at 2.4GHz?
Oh, and I not only had an IPW 2200, I still have it! . Actually, I have an IPW 2915, which also does 802.11a in addition to 802.11bg. It uses the same ipw2200 driver though.
Edit: Did a bit of googling, the new 2200 indeed only does N at 2.4GHz. Let me just say that this is totally and completely insane. It's so insane I couldn't imagine such a thing could even exist.
It's a billion dollar company. What do you expect? I found out yesterday Microsoft actually has a 16 GB memory limit on Windows 7 Home Premium. You need a Pro version to use more. There I was, telling my friend to get 32 GB for his video editing rig.
As for daenyth's card, convention has it that bgn is 2,4 GHz only. An a(b)gn card can do both 2,4 GHz and 5 GHz. You don't need to check specs for that. It's sad indeed, but there are still plenty 2,4 GHz-only 802.11n cards around. This new laptop I got a few months back came with one, and that wasn't a 300 EUR netbook.
