NSM 3.0.3 Pending Events

Just noticed 32 pending events of which the majority are Event Type (Action):
101:Evaluating Remove Member, and Current State: 2:evaluating user policy.
I'm not sure how to clear those or complete those. 30 of these events are
from user deletes. Two of them are for create user and the action state on
those two are Action: 1: create user, and 10: Verifying paths or waiting
for more paths defined for the poli... Some of the try counts for these events
are in the thousands.
I was running 3.0.2 when I noticed the pending events. I noticed 3.0.3 was
available so I upgraded. I checked that all three NSM services were running
on my SLES10/SP3 box after the upgrade. Server has been restarted. NSM Admin
client was upgraded as well. We are a small school district and have all
three services running on one SLES box (engine, agent, event). I'm not able
to find any errors in places where I know how to look.
All of my user storage (Home directories) are still on one NetWare 6.5SP8
server.

  • How do you change pending event path post mig to new server?

We upgraded from NSM 2.5 to 3 which necessitated a change of server. I migrated my polices (50+) so as not to have to recreate them as well as my pending events. The new users point to a new vault and I copied the old vaulted users there also. My issue is that my migged pending events (delete user after X days) still point to a server that no longer exists. Is there a way to modify the path to point of the old pending events to the new storage?

Please send an email (if you haven't already) to
[email protected] If you can, please attach your latest Engine
log file (found in /var/opt/novell/storagemanager/engine/log by default)

are some basic troubleshooting things we'll need. Thanks!

  • In URM, pending event and pending vital review notifications sent

In URM, there is a workflow that I created that notifies the author at the time of check in. Approvals required are zero, so it just is a notification with no approvals necessary. The next notification comes when a custom metadata date field matches the current date. The disposition action for this is 'Notify Authors'.
When I run all of the batch services, not only is the 'Notify Authors' email sent, but also two more emails for pending event and pending vital reviews. The users do not want to see these two emails and in fact should not have anything pending since nothing in the system requires approval.
What causes the pending event and pending vital reviews? I guess my question is, if there are no pending items for action or review, will this still be sent? Are the vital reviews for when someone clicks on "vital" when they are checking in a document? I need to understand how these pending events occur. We have nothing that we want to require approval in our system, so it seems odd to me that we would get these notifications. Please help me understand what causes something to be listed as "pending event" or "pending review".

I resolved my own issues. It turns out, in case anyone is interested, that the users had the rmaadmin and rmaprivilege roles so that is why they were getting these notifications. Once these permissions were removed, they no longer received these notifications.
So it was all in the security.

  • What could case many pending events in a PartitionedCache?

I am updating my Coherence cluster from 3.5 on Java 6 to 12.x on Java 8. I am running performance tests and my 2 nodes both ran out of memory. In the HPROF file, I see that the majority of the retained size is in the PartitionedCache object. It has a retained size of 538,668,136 bytes. My JVM was given 1 Gb of heap.
Yourkit allows me to see the contents of this object. I see it contains a member "__m_PendingEvents" of type 'SparseArray' with has a size of 2205236.
Any idea why there are over 2 million "pending events" ? What would cause events to be "pending" ?
    regards,
    Wim

    Hi Marc,
I was running Coherence 12.1.3.0.2 Pre-Release on Oracle JDK 1.8 update 45 on CentOS 6.4. Unfortunately, I don't have a simple test case that reproduce it. I had my application running for 4 days before the out of memory happened. Is there any logging or something I can enable or things I check in JConsole maybe to help you debug this?

  • PopUpManager.removePopUp() and pending events

    Hi,
I was looking at some code and had a question about popup
    removal.
    dispatchEvent( ... some event ... );
    PopUpManager.removePopUp(this);
In our case, the event triggers a Cairngorm command class
that takes a while to complete. Is it safe to kill the popup this
way? I am thinking it's better to remove the popup at the end of
the event handler, not right after the event is dispatched (as
    shown).
However, as the code appears to work, I thought I'd ask if
    anyone knows whether it matters.

Typically, event processing happens synchronously, so usually
    this is fine.
There are exceptions in cases where you have a chain of
    events.

  • NSM 3.1.1 server reguallry becomes unresponsive

We run NSM 3.1.1 for AD and I find that regularly for periods of several hours it is not possible to connect with NSMadmin, this also occurs if the NSM server is restarted. This is particularly annoying now that I am devolving administration of home drive quotas to our servicedesk using quota manager because while the server is in this condition, they cannot update quotas and receive a message that they are not members of the quota manager group. I also notice that our database (ecache.db) is approaching 25Gb, is there any housekeeping that can be carried out to prune this or is this normal?. I cannot find any guidance on tuning my environment for best performance. Being a University, we have a great deal of change in our environment with approximately 15,000 new students per year (and also 15,000 leaving).
Any help or advice would be appreciated,

    Davey1,
The large ecache.db file is definitely one reason the Engine is slow to
respond upon restart. Is your ecache.db file not growing any larger? In
the Pending Events panel of the Admin client, in the bottom-right
corner, is the "cached events" counter at 0? If so, it's safe to perform
    the following steps:
    - stop accepting events
    - double-check that the "cached events" counter is still at 0
    - stop the engine
    - rename the ecache.db file
    - start the engine - it should create a new ecache.db (and your engine
    should load much faster)
    - start accepting events again
    - if everything looks right, you can delete the old ecache file

  • Event won't let drop Node, Manual Node won't let drop Event

Hi, I am using OEM 9.2. I tried to register an event but the target was manually defined, so it went to pending state. I tried to drop the node to rediscover it, but the pending event won't let me. So the event won't let me drop the node and the node won't let me drop the event, so I'm stuck. Can anybody help please?

Found it, have to bounce the OEM server with the Intelligent Agent stopped!

  • How to deliver multiple events (SWEQBROWSER)

    Hello,
Through TCode SWEQBROWSER I can check that there are about 8000 events RECEIVED but not delivered. I need to deliver all this pending events.
However in this transaction i just can select one event at a time.
Is there anyway to deliver all this events in one shot?
    Thanks in advance,

    hi Pedro,
there is a job SWEQSRV automatically scheduled by transaction SWF_XI_CUSTOMIZING which purpose is to
manage the correct processing of the event queue - you can check it
using SWEQADM but SWF_XI_CUSTOMIZING should be enough
maybe this is not scheduled at your system ?

  • Query to clear raised events in CPS

    Hi,
Is there a query to clear raised events in Redwood ?
Our CPS did not restart properly this WE and all the Event File Definition wich was started are now going in a pending status. The problem is that the raised ones are not visible in the monitoring (I cannot clear them !) and auto-submit jobs are not running anymore as new event file are pending !
How can I clear them (as they'aren't in the monitoring) ?
I solved my problem by creating a new file Event Definition for one of the job and it ran but I cannot do that (itu2019s not a solution) for all the jobs which were running correctly before.
We restart Redwood but event are still going in a pending status, I donu2019t see any operator message.
So, this problem is not similar with the one I opened a few days ago.
If someone can help, Iu2019ll really appreciate it.
    Clement.

    Hi Preethish,
Yes, I'm able to submit the Job Chains manually and I already Clear all Pending events. But no way, still going in pending status.
What I did to workaround my problem, I create new event definitions for those job chains but I don't want to correct the problem that way if this happens again; It's not a solution as I've too many jobs.
    Regards
    Clement.

  • The object in Directory Services has a class missing

    Hello,
In Pending Events we have a few events for users (who are not yet managed by NSM for AD) with the following actions (and action states):
Evaluating Add Member (Evaluating user policy)
Create User (Getting policy for the user)
The last error message is: 92 : The object in Directory Services has a class or attribute mismatch and is not valid. Viewing the nsmengine-ad-(date).log file, I can see the following entries:
    01 2014-04-02 08:55:20 3600 3 8003 1436 2908 cc::ds_ad::GetObjectListAsyncEx() - Called piDirSearch->GetNextRow(...), HRESULT = 80072030, Result = 15.
    01 2014-04-02 08:55:20 3600 5 0008 1436 2908 PolicyTools::GetEffectivePolicies - Failed to get indirect group memberships for CN=<UserDetails>,DC=local. Result = 15.
A quick search for the error number indicates that the error (80072030) is that there is no such object on the server. All our DCs are Global Catalogs and I can confirm the users exist and are valid. Some of our groups do have a large number of members (up to 30,000).
Any idea what could be causing the issue and how to resolve it?

Which version of NSM are you using? Specifically, what Engine build are
you on? The easiest way to check this is in the Engine Status panel of
    the NSM Admin client.

  • Upgrade and migration from Netware to Linux best practice

    Hi folks,
We've been running NSM 2.5 for a few years on Netware and have been very satisfied with the product and performance. We are planning to migrating to SLES11 with OES11 very soon to finally move away from Netware and I have some issues I can't seem to find answers to. Of course I want to use NSM to move my home directories from my Netware to my SLES so I want this working well when we migrate.
I've searched but not found a good resource to show how to move the NSM engine from a Netware server to a Linux server with best practices. Anyone have experience with this and any gottchas?
The other question is of course is to upgrade NSM to a new version before or after the move to Linux/OES11? We are at Ver 2.5.0.43 and want to move to the latest version. Upgrade procedure and best practices would be handy.
The last of course is NSM compatible with SLES/OES11? I presume it is and certainly hope so because we want to move all of our users to SLES11 NSS.

The NSM 3.0.x Engine setup process actually handles the migration from
NSM 2.5 fairly easily. Our 3.0 Installation Guide (available at
    http://www.novell.com/documentation/storagemanager3 ) includes all the
information you should need regarding migration, including the
    suggestions I'll list here.
You'll want to leave NSM 2.5 running during the migration so that the
NSM 3.0 setup wizard can connect to that Engine and import its policies
and pending events. You'll also want to have as few pending events as
possible in NSM 2.5 -- deferred deletes are fine, but all pending events
will slow down the migration process, since they'll have to be
    transferred over.
    > The other question is of course is to upgrade NSM to a new version
    > before or after the move to Linux/OES11? We are at Ver 2.5.0.43 and want
    > to move to the latest version. Upgrade procedure and best practices

Again, this information is available in the 3.0 Installation Guide. To
migrate from 2.5 to 3.0.x, you'll have to have at least one OES11 server
in your tree to install it on; but you'll also have to leave the NSM 2.5
Engine running on its Netware host long enough to migrate from it.
    > The last of course is NSM compatible with SLES/OES11? I presume it is
    > and certainly hope so because we want to move all of our users to SLES11

We are about to release version 3.0.4 of NSM, which provides full
support for OES11 on SLES11. The NFMS Support Team can also provide you
with builds of NSM 3.0.3 which support OES11; if you need those for
early testing, please send an email to storagemanager[at]novell[dot]com.
    Hope this helps!
