What could case many pending events in a PartitionedCache?

I am updating my Coherence cluster from 3.5 on Java 6 to 12.x on Java 8. I am running performance tests and my 2 nodes both ran out of memory. In the HPROF file, I see that the majority of the retained size is in the PartitionedCache object. It has a retained size of 538,668,136 bytes. My JVM was given 1 Gb of heap.
Yourkit allows me to see the contents of this object. I see it contains a member "__m_PendingEvents" of type 'SparseArray' with has a size of 2205236.
Any idea why there are over 2 million "pending events" ? What would cause events to be "pending" ?
regards,
Wim

Hi Marc,
I was running Coherence 12.1.3.0.2 Pre-Release on Oracle JDK 1.8 update 45 on CentOS 6.4. Unfortunately, I don't have a simple test case that reproduce it. I had my application running for 4 days before the out of memory happened. Is there any logging or something I can enable or things I check in JConsole maybe to help you debug this?
regards,
Wim

    Hello nattygrimm,
I was looking into the issue you are describing and found a great resource to try and fix the issue without having to re install the OS. It is an article called Mac OS X: How to troubleshoot a software issue found here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1199.
    I recommend starting here:
The first and easiest test to try is to see if the issue affects a different user account on your Mac. Each user account has customized preferences and other items stored in its home directory. You'll first need to create an additional user if one does not already exist (follow steps a-h below). Then, log out of the current user and test the issue in the new user account.
If this resolves the issue, there may be an issue with a file in the home directory of the original user account.
From the Apple menu, choose System Preferences.
From the View menu, choose Accounts (or choose Users if using Mac OS X v10.2 or earlier).
Click "+" (or click New User if using Mac OS X v10.2 or earlier).
Give the new user a name and short name.
Mac OS X v10.3 or earlier only: Click the Password tab, and give the user a password.
Mac OS X v10.3 or earlier only: Click Security.
Select the checkbox for "Allow user to administer this computer". This makes the user account an administrator.
Click OK, or quit System Preferences.
Work your way down the article as needed.
    All the best,
    Sterling

A reset may help. Tap and hold the Home button and the On/Off buttons for approximately 15-20 seconds, until the Apple logo reappears. When the logo appears, release both buttons.
No content is affected by this procedure.

  • Macbook Pro w/ retina freezes at least once a day, and I'm forced to shut down computer. What could be wrong?

I've had this macbook since August of last year, so it is still relatively new. For about a month the 'beach ball of death' has frozen my computer at least a couple times a week, which then I am forced to shut down the computer. What could be a reason for the constant freezing??

These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes) in the search box. Note the timestamps of those log messages, which refer to the times when the system was started. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the last boot time after  you had the problem. Select the messages logged before the boot, while the system was unresponsive or was failing to shut down. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V. Please include the BOOT_TIME message at the end of the log extract.
If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
Still in Console, look under System Diagnostic Reports for crash or panic logs, and post the entire contents of the most recent one, if any. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if present (it may not be.) Please don’t post any other kind of report—it will be very long and not helpful.

    Hi,
What's your Edge NIC and certificate configuration? And the DNS SRV records?
It may happen because the Lync server does not pass the correct certification authority information back to the Lync client during the negotiation of the TLS connection.

  • In URM, pending event and pending vital review notifications sent

In URM, there is a workflow that I created that notifies the author at the time of check in. Approvals required are zero, so it just is a notification with no approvals necessary. The next notification comes when a custom metadata date field matches the current date. The disposition action for this is 'Notify Authors'.
When I run all of the batch services, not only is the 'Notify Authors' email sent, but also two more emails for pending event and pending vital reviews. The users do not want to see these two emails and in fact should not have anything pending since nothing in the system requires approval.
What causes the pending event and pending vital reviews? I guess my question is, if there are no pending items for action or review, will this still be sent? Are the vital reviews for when someone clicks on "vital" when they are checking in a document? I need to understand how these pending events occur. We have nothing that we want to require approval in our system, so it seems odd to me that we would get these notifications. Please help me understand what causes something to be listed as "pending event" or "pending review".

I resolved my own issues. It turns out, in case anyone is interested, that the users had the rmaadmin and rmaprivilege roles so that is why they were getting these notifications. Once these permissions were removed, they no longer received these notifications.
So it was all in the security.

  • How do you change pending event path post mig to new server?

We upgraded from NSM 2.5 to 3 which necessitated a change of server. I migrated my polices (50+) so as not to have to recreate them as well as my pending events. The new users point to a new vault and I copied the old vaulted users there also. My issue is that my migged pending events (delete user after X days) still point to a server that no longer exists. Is there a way to modify the path to point of the old pending events to the new storage?

  • Many security events have been identified - federation disabled error

We are getting lots of warnings in our event log for Event ID 14425:

So we did as the resolution states, and logged the traffic, and we are getting thousands of these types of messages:
    TL_ERROR(TF_SECURITY) [0]05E8.00CC::01/05/2011-15:12:11.015.00000013 (SIPStack,SIPAdminLog::WriteSecurityEvent:SIPAdminLog.cpp(424))$$begin_record

If we have Federation disabled, how do I keep all this traffic from hammering my edge server?  What I am assuming it is trying to do is get the presence for every person in every email being sent or received (or read?)
    Thanks,
    Bob

If you're not going to leverage Lync federation and enable it for your environment, it's probably worth considering the removal of your public SRV record for federation for the sake of tidiness. They won't do you any harm providing that they are indeed genuine
    subscription requests from foreign users.
    Kind regards
    Ben

  • Lock front panel until the event case for this event completes

A Dynamic Event is a filtered event? Is this why "Lock front panel until the event case for this event completes" is not shown on Edit Event window dialog? I use Dynamic Event so I can subvi the event structure.
I need stop my app from locking the FP whenever the user double clicks on the numerical array value (<-- the FP freezes the mouse and renders it useless) and stops the value from ever being changed. This event is registered for Value Change (not mouse up or down) and I get a locked mouse. As yet in the UI, no value changed occurs but I get a locked mouse. A LV bug?
Trying to KISS, I can see this fixing this by moving ONLY the value change event to the top level VI instead of a dynamic registered event in a subVI. This will give me the option to NOT "Lock front panel until the event case for this event completes" .
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    richjoh wrote:
Thx, Ben that fixed the problem when I unchecked "Lock panel...".
So it appears LV locks the panel during runtime once the Dynamic Reg Events is on BD and it doesn't matter if your case to handle the Reg Events is created or NOT... interesting. That's why my mouse persisted to "freeze up" although I deleted the case for my FP array.
Its situation like what you described that has given me many insights into how LV actually works. In one of my bbuggy VI's I found that a class wire can run a million miles through multiple sub-VI queues etc but the data itself is only touched when it has to be touched. in my case it was a crash while trying to write bogus class dat to a TDMS file.
I am glad you are back on course.

  • NSM 3.0.3 Pending Events

Just noticed 32 pending events of which the majority are Event Type (Action):
101:Evaluating Remove Member, and Current State: 2:evaluating user policy.
I'm not sure how to clear those or complete those. 30 of these events are
from user deletes. Two of them are for create user and the action state on
those two are Action: 1: create user, and 10: Verifying paths or waiting
for more paths defined for the poli... Some of the try counts for these events
    are in the thousands.
I was running 3.0.2 when I noticed the pending events. I noticed 3.0.3 was
available so I upgraded. I checked that all three NSM services were running
on my SLES10/SP3 box after the upgrade. Server has been restarted. NSM Admin
client was upgraded as well. We are a small school district and have all
three services running on one SLES box (engine, agent, event). I'm not able
to find any errors in places where I know how to look.
All of my user storage (Home directories) are still on one NetWare 6.5SP8
    server.

pipe putmay cause problems in your case. For example, you are using PX in your query, and in case of parallel_min_servers = 0 each execution of that query would require 2*N PX slaves (since inter-process communication is used), where N = Degree Of Parallelism of the query. So, it may wait, for example, for 'os thread startup'. But it's just an example, to get more precise answer you should carefully analyze wait events during such periods. For example, using WaitProf by Tanel Poder.

  • Flash Player 10 does not work in IE or Firefox. What could it conflict with?

I'm  using Firefox 3.6.8 (and sometimes IE 8.0.6001.18702IC) on Windows XP Pro, SP 3.
For some weeks now, I have been unable to hear any sounds on anything Flash-based, from YouTube to games at MSN.com or embedded videos on any site using Flash.  Initially I had assumed it to be because of having QuickTime installed because I know QT likes to hijack everything.  I uninstalled QT (and Real Player) and Flash Player then reinstalled Flash Player (and Shockwave Player just in case) and guess what?
Yup.  Nothing.  When I uninstalled everything, I used a program called Revo Uninstaller, which includes a registry cleaning option.  I then used Abexo and WinASO's registry cleaners to make sure I got everything else that even looked like QuickTime off my hard drive.
When I reinstalled Flash, the following programs appeared in C:\Windows\system 32\Macromed\Flash:
    Flash 10i.ocx (10.1.82.76)
    FlashUtil10i_ActiveX (10.1.82.76)
    FlashUntil10i_Plugin (10.1.82.76)
    genuinst (6.0.2800.1531)
    FlashUtil10i_ActiveX.dll (10.1.82.76)
    NPSWF32.dll (10.1.82.76)
    KB931433
    FlashInstall
    Install
    Flashplayer.xpt
When I check IE's "Tools" and look for add-ons, it says that Flash (Shockwave Flash) is enabled.  I even enabled the other Adobe add-ons for Acrobat and such just to be sure.  Firefox shows Shockwave Flash and Shockwave for Director both to be enabled.  The Flash control panel settings don't help: I have all sites set to store about 100 KB on my computer to make sure there's enough room for everything but still nothing.
Before anyone asks, my audio drivers are up to date, thanks to the manufacturer's website.  I have DirectX 9.0c installed and everything else works fine.  I can play audio and video elsewhere with no problems.  It's only Flash that's showing me this trouble and there's no hint as to what else could be interfering with Flash.
    Any ideas?

Well, great.  I tried the uninstall/reinstall before, but not with the uninstaller, so I was hopeful that this time might do it.  No such luck.  The video still plays, but no sound.
All the sound settings are working with everything else from games to media players.  I set Windows' firewall to allow both the ActiveX and plugin for Flash, just in case.
In the Flash folder, I now have:
    Flash10l.ocx (10.1.102.64)
    Flash Util10l_ActiveX (10.1.102.64)
    FlashUtil10l_Plugin (10.1.102.64)
    Genuinst (6.0.2800.1531)
    FlashUtil10l_ActiveX.dll (10.1.102.64)
    NPSWF32.dll (10.1.102.64)
And the setup and text files that went with 'em.
I've also done a system restart since then and zip.
I went through IE and Firefox and looked for any file associations (like .flv) that I could manually change over to using Flash, but no go.  The settings panels for Flash have all been set to allow YouTube specifically (as a test) and to allow 10KB of storage space for all affected sites.
Now what?  I'm really not looking forward to a reformat and reinstall, but it's looking like that's what it's going to take.

Something is strange with your list of modules; you list FlashUntil10i_Plugin (10.1.102.64), but this is really 10.1.85.3
I recommend that you uninstall Flash Player completely (using http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html), then restart Windows, and delete all remaining files in C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash.
Next reinstall both ActiveX (http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_ax.exe) and the plugin (http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe).
After that, if the problem persists, have a look at this page http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/837/cpsid_83739.html

  • What could be wrong? I need some help please. =(

    Hi all,
I'm quite disappointed with my macbook performance. The video performance is real bad as i can't even run expose / dashboard properly (it appears on the screen laggy when it's meant to be a very beautiful transition).
I have a 2 Ghz macbook installed with 1 gb (2X 512) ram. Bought the rams from myself (they're hynix rams by the way and of the correct specs).
I did apple hardware tests + memtest and found nothing wrong with the rams. Any idea what could be happening?
This slow performance issue comes on quite frequently but i'm unable to determine the root cause of it. I even brought the macbook to applecare @ wheelock but the problem did not show itself and the serviceman looked at me as though as i were lying or something. It's ULTRA pathetic service from him. I'd always remember that person. What kind of service apple provides these days? If there isn't an issue would i travel an hour just to bring the macbook to him?
Anyway, what could be the possible causes of the slowdown?
    I can only think of:
    1. Processor running too hot?
    2. Faulty video card - how do i determine this?
    3. Software - i reinstalled os x myself and the problem's still showing
    4. Widgets - i can't even run those on the macbook decently. didn't even bother trying to install others
    5. Ram error - they're hynix rams though and of the correct specifications
    6. Too many programs - it occurs immediately after i restart my macbook too
What should i do? I appreciate your inputs. The macbook's only 2 weeks old. I'm quite disappointed.
    Alvin

Since you took it to an AppleStore I'm going to assume he ran diagnostics on it and those should have been the Apple diagnostics which are different from what we consumers can get. The computer must have tested within specs. If I'm wrong about the diagnostics - I'll keep my thoughts to myself - they need to be run.
But even before you make a return trip - or call AppleCare, try this. Create a new account and set your computer to automatically log into it - or to no automatic login. Turn the computer off (and unplugged) for about an hour and then restart it into the test account to confirm that the computer doesn't behave when cool. If it behaves when cool and then starts acting up we'll know it is heat related.
    Two things stand out:
    1) you've installed RAM
    2) computer is slow even after restarted
If you still have the original RAM, reinstall it. The new RAM might be the cause - it might also be causing the overheating. I have no proof, but based on what I've seen at work I think RAM companies are letting more marginal RAM pass into the marketplace than they used to.
