Null referrence error

I am getting an error while running ICWC applications. The error is "Dereferencing of the NULL reference ". Dont know why its occuring. I need your support.

hi, this little pratice is about building a simple shopping cart. the TOAD.JSP will display the item list and quantity, user could check item and input the quantity that they want. if the user input larger quantity than database, servlet will sent the back to TOAD.jsp and show message. now it works if selected from 1 item, but if selected 2nd or 3rd, it will have null pointer error over here:

But here is the best that one can guess at.
You have a null somewhere.
Is it coming from this code? I am going to say no.
Where does it come from? I don't know.
Where should you look? In the code that does processing to see what happens when yuo have more than one item.
What should you do next? Start putting in some debugging and tracing statements to see where you are heading off into the null abyss.

OIM Null Connection Errors

We have OIM 9.1.0.2 configured in our environment. I am seeing a lot of GOT A NULL CONNECTION errors in the application logs. But when we contact the DBAs, they are not seeing any errors on the database side. I am seeing only from the application side. We are running on OAS 10.1.3.1

Search for file: data-sources.xml file in your app server directories and modify it. Go to data sources section and do the modification. A sample datasource may look like:

Feild name : null. unknown error / Unable to check..... Store is temp...

Ok I bought a movie a few days ago and couldn't download it, System told me to try later. Ok no biggy. I log on the next morning and try again to get the message Unable to check purchases Itunes store is temporarily unavailable. Its been almost a week same message but the store works fine I have bought 2 albums and they downloaded fine. I get the bill for the movie today try to use the "report problem" link and im told Feild name: null. unknown error. Same thing when i try to log into view my account.
I call apple support to be told that all support for the store is online only. Here is where i get a bit mad. If your online support wont let you login how can you get support?
I have restarted, turned off and back one, deleted itunes and reinstalled. I've deleted the keychain and had it rebuilt. For a product thats advertised to "just work" it isn't working as intended.

Hey, I feel your pain...I've been going through this all evening long...I keep resetting my password and then 2 minutes later it doesn't recognize my password and I get the same weird message that you get....Ive sent a message to their "support" lets see how quick they get back to me.....

Simple question re: Avoiding null pointer errors

In my program, I ask the user to enter a 3-letter code, then try to determine whether that code belongs to one of a list of objects.
I keep getting null-pointer errors. I understand why, but don't know how to get around it. I don't know how to format my loop.
(Simple, I know. But I'm just starting out!)
Any help would be appreciated.

The format I'm trying to use is this:

Trying to go through list until I find chosenCode.

Common Provider null datasource error

Dear All,
I have created new private connection in Smartview for Essbase. But If I select that datasource to work it show an error in popup window saying "common provider null datasource error".
Help in solving this issue is highly appreciated.

I just updated an existing slide show that was created several months back. Since loading my new set of files to our web server, we keep getting the following error in our server log files when someone loads our page in IE8 and IE9:

One of our programmers tracked the error to this line of code, but we're not sure what's causing it:

The errors aren't showing up on the client side, only in the server access logs. Every time the page is loaded with IE8 or IE9 and the Muse.Utils.addSelectorFn with the #slideshowu70 line is hit, it generates four errors in the server access logs.
Our admin guy pulled the errors from where it was clicked on from the Adobe forum. He said it also appeared that you tested it with www added to the url (if this was when you were testing it)...

The reason we find it strange is because it did not result in errors with the previous version of the slideshow. The only thing that changed this time around is that I removed some slides and added additional ones, but I noticed that there is a lot of difference in the code and even the scripts that are used. And I did copy over all of the scripts, css files, etc., so it's using all of the new source files.
I was hoping it was something that you guys had noticed if you review the access logs when you're testing. While it works perfectly on the client side, the IT guys do go through our access logs, so it would be nice to eliminate the errors.

Using ExecuteWithParams and getting a null pointer error

I'm new to Webcenter and have a question about using ExecuteWithParams. I want to know if anyone experienced a null pointer exception when using it. I was using the example from the followng page to create a parameter form to filter an adf table.

Using DateAdd and getting Null Pointer Error

I am using the following code below:

No the issue was that I had someone in the dateabase with no
time listed so that was the issue. Took care of it and it's working

Null Index Error When Sorting Standard Report Column

I have a page in one of my application that contains three reports in three seperate regions within the page. You only see one report at a time, however, and control which one you see based on a sidebar table containing links that call javascript functions to toggle the hiding/showing of each region.
The problem stems from trying to use the standard column sort on any of the columns. When I click the column header in any of the the reports, the page submits the request to sort the column (for example: request="fsp_sort_6", etc...), and then the page refreshes with all three reports displayed. The report for which you actually 'clicked' a column header will be sorted. However the other two will display with an error (code ORA-06502) saying that the report cannot parse the query because of a null key index value in one of the corresponding tables being queried.
The weird thing is - this only happens on other computers - not when I'm on my workstation developing in my apex workspace/schema. I've even given each of the three reports a seperate static ID attribute so that I can identify each using those unique IDs.
I have to say - I am stumped. Any help would be much appreciated. If you need more details, feel free to respond to this thread.

What version of APEX are you using? This was supposed to be fixed in 3.1 however it isn't because we still experience it sometimes, we just have never been able to re-create it in order to raise an SR. Getting to the bottom of this would be fantastic for us as it's the one thing which makes me extremely nervous of implementing new applications which are production-critical. The only workarounds are to flush the SGA or edit the report in production so the query is different (usually just fetch back null somewhere and then hide the column). This clearly isn't acceptable however without a reproducable test case there isn't much which can be done! :(

I can NOT sign in to My Account on iTunes - FieldName null Unknown error

Starting this morning, I am unable to sign into my Account on the iTunes Store. When I try to sign in, I get an error message:
FieldName: null. Unknown error.
This is NOT a problem with the password on my iTunes Store account. I'm using my Apple ID which I've had for many many years and I've had the same password for many many years.
And, right now, I am able to SUCCESSFULLY sign into my Apple ID on the on-line Apple Store on the web. So, I know that my Apple ID and password are correct and my account is working fine.
Therefore, the problem ONLY seems to be when I try to sign into my iTunes Store account using iTunes. I am using iTunes version 7.5 on an Apple Mac running Mac OS X Leopard version 10.5.1.
I was able to successfully sign into the iTunes Store within the past few days. The problem only started this morning.
Is Apple having problems with the iTunes Store and account sign-in authorizations?
Specifically, I am clicking on the "Account" button in the iTunes Store. I am then presented with a dialogue box: "Sign in to view account information". My Apple ID is pre-populated, and I enter my password. Then, I click the "Account Info" button to sign in. Then, I get the following error message: FieldName null. Unknown error.
The error message is infuriating! FieldName null ??? -- What does that mean? -- And, unknown error ???

For all Users...I just fixed mine and am now able to log on.
Yesterday there was a Quick Time update to 7.3.1 that fixed a security issue that was allowing access to your computers. I thought that my auto update would install this and it didn't. I had to manually download from apple and install the update.

I used the "with iTunes" version and now I can log into my account with out the "null" error appearing.
This was pointed out to my by QuickDraw so he gets all of the credit.

Can Someone help me? I'm new to oracle. I'm writing a procedure to copy a file from my hard drive to oracle. I am getting an error: ORA-30625: method dispatch on NULL SELF argument is disallowed. So I just broke the code down to this little piece. I still get the same error. I created a directory called INPUT_FILE and the file test.jpg is in that directory. What am I missing?

Basically, you have to have a table in which you store the image in the database first.

LabVIEW: Null window error in an application?

Hi there,
I just built an application from a vi and I am encountering an error:
LabVIEW: Null window.
The top-level VI "name1.vi"
was stopped at unknown on the block diagram of "name2.vi".
The application runs smoothly until the user selects some hotkeys to open a simple subvi briefly during execution in order to check on a file path. This hot key combination works perfectly when the normal vi is running and the subvi displays the information and then closes and the vi execution continues. Why would it not work when it has been built as an application??

I could do with some assistance getting Web service's up & running on my application
I've been following this guide but altering to fit in with our internal web services... the Internet police here at work have youtube blocked off so unable to test end to end using the OTN tutorial
I've created a web service named PASSWORDGEN with the results stored in the collection PASSWORDRESULT
On my page I've created the process that invokes the webservice PASSWORDGEN which is set to run on load - before header - seq #10
then created the pl/sql anonymous block process which is set to run on load - before header - seq #20
I've used the pl/sql example given in the tutorial but substituted their references to collections with my named collection .

what I think is happening, from what I've read up on, is that the collection is empty?
so I'm trying to find out if the web service is not populating the collection correctly or have I made a mistake in the above syntax & trying to reference the collection incorrectly.
Is there a way I can query the collection using TOAD?

ok so found the collection but when I invoke the web service the collection record is not populated. I've tested the webservice & a result is returned but for some reason when I either run the test or run the page which invokes the web service as a page render process the collection is still not populated.....
what I'm I missing here as the setup of the web service is pretty straight forward & testing the web service does produce a result within the test window

TypeError: Error #1009 - (Null reference error) With Flash.

I am not an expert in flash, but i do work with AS and tweak Flash projects , though not having deep expertise in it. Currently i need to revamp a flash website done by one another guy, and the code base given to me, upon execution is throwing the following error.

The structure of the project is like, it has the different sections split into different movie clips. There is no single main timeline, but click actions on different areas of seperate movie clips will take them between one another. All the AS logic of event handling are written inline in FLA , no seperate Document class exists.
Preloader Movie clip is the first one getting loaded. As i understood the error is getting thrown initially itself, and it is not happening due to any Action script logic written inline, because it is throwing error even before hitting the first inline AS code.
I am not able to figure Out what exactly it causing the problem, or where to resolve it. I setup the stuff online, for reference if anybody want to take a look at it, and here is the link.You need to have flash debugger turned ON in your browser, if need to see the exception getting triggered.

And i think this third line of code is where the exception is being thrown. But as i understood, this code is not written by the developer. I had nto seen this code, anywhere in the actions. Hopefully this will give you hint about what is exactly causing the issue and what can be done to resolve it.
