Nvidia driver works, but crashes after a reboot.

Gigabyte Motherboard
amd Quad core
2 GB Ram
Geforce 9600
running the 32bit arch
All i do is, pacman -Sy xorg nvidia
and once it installs i do a sudo nvidia-xconfig, and then i commented out the type1 module ( got that from the forums, thought it might be causing my problems)  The problem is, when  I first do it, everything works great, I can log in, and log out, but after a restart, openbox comes up with artifacts, and the color display is very basic, like windows 95 or something.  Is there any more info you might need?

currently posting from the vesa driver.  I wouldnt care if i didnt get into urban terror

ok thanks for the post back, I am not running a custom kernel, just the stock x86_64 one, do i still need to do this( I didnt know if you thought i was or not)?  if so, can you please explain a little more what exactly i am doing?  Sorry for being so dense about this, I just dont want to screw anything up by my own ignorance.
in this pkgbuild, i should replace all isntaces of '_kernver' with x86_64 or something else?
so this make SYSSRC=/lib/modules/${_kernver}/build module , becomes make SYSSRC=/lib/modules/${x86_64}/build module
heh, sorry if im totally messing this up.  Never had this issue before, BUT, i have learned a few good commands, dmesg and mod probe, also the find command.  So thanks, you dont have to help so im very thankfull you are.

USB Drives works, but does not show up in "Safely Remove Hardware"
    windows 8
USB Drives works, but does not show up in "Safely Remove Hardware"
    Here are my symptom
    - USB Flash Drives , USB External HDD works normally
    - I can see them in "My Computer"
    - I can open "Safely Remove Hardware" via Run Command, but there is no device in the list
    - They show up as "Disk drives" in device manager
    - When I right click their icons in "My Computer", there is no option to "Eject" them
    - In "Disk Management", they show up as "Basic". Prior to this issue, they were "Removable"
After I tested, it seems that my Vista detects every USB storage device as a normal HDD.
I don't know why but I'd appreciate any help because I have to plug-in and remove those drives often, especially flash drives.
    Thank you

  • AGFA ppd driver worked but now reports the printer is busy?

AGFA ppd driver worked but now reports the printer is busy?  The network location is definitely available by looking at the shared folders.  I can print through the network using the other Mac Book Pro that has the same OS and Driver.  This happened after the printers were cleared off and I had to reinstall them individually.  The driver was placed in th users profile printers folder and then applied to the IPP priter during setup a before.  -Any help is appreciated

You're profile indicates your Mac has v10.5.1 installed.
If that is correct, you need to update to v10.5.8.
Click Software Update from your Apple  menu drop down menu or open System Preferences > Software Update.
After the update is installed, restart your Mac.
Turn off the printer then turn it back on then try printing via USB.
If that didn't help, try here >  Mac OS X 10.5: Included printer drivers

dvd/cd drive works but won't allow me to install new programs from disk, doesn't recognize the disk, what can I do?

Well I was able to obtain a work around download of Flash and it installed fine but Firefox tells me it needs updating so I go out, thinking I'm "IN" finally to update it and I get that issue of not being able to get the update for it.  It's a regular laptop, not a touch screen or one of those new fangled ones for todays world.  In fact it's a refurb so it's probably origin date was a year or so ago before all this MS stuff took off fully.  So not understanding why I'm feeling like I'm being BLOCKED from getting the updated Flash I need and desire.  If I click on the little "X" and tell it to ignore the warning the vid will play just fine but don't want to have to do that every time.  Must be a better way.
Again, I'm sorry for posting in the wrong forum, getting this posted in the Flash forum was my desire but the way Adobe has this set up I just couldn't figure it out.  I belong to ALLOT of forums and most are pretty straight forward but this one is confusing!

  • HERE Drive + Beta constantly crashes after upgrade...

After i upgraded to Here Drive + Beta on my Lumia 920, the app constantly crashes when i start it!
I have tried to restart the phone, uninstall the app, and reinstall....but it still crashes! The other Here-apps is ok, and works fine!
Didn't anyone at Nokia tested this properly before releasing the upgrade!!!???
I hope you guys at Nokia have an upgrade to fix this problem quickly because one of the main reasons that i bought a Nokia again was the Maps and Drive function with offline maps!!

Today i reset my Lumia 920 back to factory settings, and for a short while.... the Here Drive worked all fine....
But suddenly... the error came back, and Here Drive was starting to crash again!
And by the way... restoring the phone is a pretty big job!

  • Reading objects from a binary file works but crashes LabVIEW on exit

I've been hunting for the source of some crashes on LabVIEW exit and I was finally able to track it down to this. In my application I wrap measurements into objects that I stream into a binary file during the inspection. In another application I read the file again to browse and analyze the measurements. All this seems to work just fine except that the reading part causes LabVIEW to crash once I close the IDE. Built applications don't report any crashes but I am afraid if it might still cause some instability or unexpected behaviour.
The snippet below represents the writing and reading scheme I use and with which I am able to reproduce the problem every time. I attached the project for testing it.
Parts from the internal warning report:
    #OSName: Windows 8.1 Pro N
    #AppName: LabVIEW
    #Version: 13.0f2 32-bit
DWarn 0xEFBFD9AB: Disposing OMUDClass definition [LinkIdentity "Class 1.lvclass" [ My Computer] even though 1014 inflated data instances still reference it. This will almost certainly cause a crash next time we operate on one of them.
Possible path leak, unable to purge elements of base #0
The full log is also attached.
    Notes:
Remember: the reading works without any problems, the crash after LabVIEW exit is what I'm concerned about
Seems to only happen with classes/objects—not the default LabVIEW Object, though
Prepending array size or different byte orders make no difference
The writing is time critical, the reading is not, in case you wish to suggest other options
Has anyone else run into this? Should I be concerned for the built applications or can this be simply ruled as an IDE problem?

Right off, if you say you can read and write lv objects, try casting your object as a lv object before saving it. The lv object is the ultimate parent of all classes.

  • Hard drive works, but when plugged in hangs the system

First of all, since this is not a Linux-specific problem I'm not sure this is the right place for this post.
Anyway, for the past few years I've been using a 250GB IDE hard drive mostly to store backups on.  For quite a while it worked fine, but when  plugged in again after being removed so I could clean out the dust in my PC it didn't work quite right anymore.  It caused the system to hang and gave error messages remniscent of those detailed on this page.  After some fiddling it worked OK for a while, and then one day it randomly did this again.  I took the ribbon cable out, then the hard drive, and realized one of the pins was pushed in (at the time I thought it was broken).  After some reading I decided to sacrifice a ribbon cable.  What I did was yank a pin off of an old DVD drive that doesn't work and shoved it in the cable where the short pin was.  I made sure it was seated well, plugged in in, and hoped for the best.  To my delight it worked without a hitch for maybe a year or more.
And then a little more than a month ago we had lightning strike a power line outside of our house and it fried my motherboard.  I now have a replacement board, but after all of the taking apart and moving around and stuff, the hard drive is back to its old antics.  The pin-in-the-cable trick wasn't working anymore.  After I realized that the pin wasn't broken half-way but rather pushed in, I grabbed some needlenose pliers and pulled it out.  It now will plug into any ribbon cable just fine and the computer recognizes it, but it's slow at POST and hangs the system when booting the OS, whether it be Linux or Windows.  Knoppix CDs boot just fine, although slower.  S.M.A.R.T. sees no problems.
Basically I'm wondering 2 things.  First of all, is there anything I can do to get around the hangs?  And second, I'm considering buying an external hard drive enclosure for regular 3.5 inch hard drives and using it as an external USB drive.  Since the drive does still work and I can add/remove stuff while booted in Knoppix, and the main issue seems to be my system hanging, I figure, maybe, I can just plug in the drive when I need it after the computer is already booted up and it will work fine.  Does this sound like a reasonable expectation?

What you hear may sound like it's the hard drive, but it's really an electronic type of noise. Same with my PB. Try what BGreg said, and wait for the drive to spin down - you'll still hear the noise.
There was a thread about this issue several months ago, and IIRC the conclusion was that it's a normal noise, and that you should just ignore it if possible.
If you must make it quieter, set processor performance to the lowest setting in Energy Saver preferences. But it's not going away completely.

  • "icloud drive" option is unchecked after every reboot of windows 7

    Hi,
I have iCloud Control Panel 4.0.2 on my Windows 7 x64 pc. I have checked the tickbox as enabled next to "iCloud Drive". But after a reboot my docments are not synced to my iCloud Drive folder in windows explorer. When I open iCloud control panel, the option is unchecked and I have to re-enable it to start syncing.

  • Quick publishing works, but crash on app store deployment... :(

i have a problem with the app i had just developed.
it's 100% bug-free, and totally workable in SWF format.
after i had published it to the ipad, with the quick publishing settings in deployment type,
    it works without any problem!
but if i chose to use "app store deployment", the app crashed after the splash screen,
i have no clue on that, it's not about the certificate and codesign, because the app has been submitted to apple,
but it rejected because the app crash problem.
    anyone have the same experience?
    please help!

    Hi,
Thanks for reporting the problem. We are aware of this issue and we are working on it. Are you compiling your application on a Windows machine? You could try compiling with -Xmx1024m or -Xmx768m switch or if you have a Mac machine, try compiling there. To help us validate the fix we are working on, you could mail the application.xml and SWF to me at [email protected]
    Thanks,

  • ThinkVantage Toolbox works but crashes when clicking on "settings"

    Hi.
I have just changed my HDD, from a SG Momentus 500GB to the same but 750 GB. Computer's a ThinkPad T410, OS is W7 Ultimate 64bit.
With the previous disk I never experienced any issues with ToolBox, while with this one everything works, but when I click on "Settings" the program crashes. I tried uninstall/reinstall, but same result.
Even though I read of issues with Seagate disks, I don't think it's disk-related since with the previous disk I had no issues, and since everything else, including tests on disk, works.
    Any idea?
    thanks

    UPDATE:
LTT latest version 6.0.5849.23 works fine on my X200T and T410 - no crashes whatsoever.
However, my X301 always had the crash issue . Planning to do uninstall and registry clean-up later and see what happens.

  • Do I have to uninstall the CS4 software before updating the NVIDIA driver and reinstall CS4 after?

I have just installed CS4 on Windows 7 and I get the message that I need to update NVIDIA driver.
Is it really neccassary to update driver even if I have no problems using Photoshop?
Do I have to uninstall the CS4 software before updating the NVIDIA  driver and reinstall CS4 afterwards or is there a way around it?
    Here are the technical details:
    Processor speed: 3325 MHz
    Video Card Vendor: NVIDIA Corporation
Video Card Renderer: GeForce GT 220/PCI/SSE2
    OpenGL Drawing: Enabled.
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GT 220
    Video Mode: 1680 x 1050 x 4294967296 colors
    Video Card Driver: nvd3dum.dll,nvwgf2um.dll,nvwgf2um.dll
    Driver Version: 8.15.11.8627
    Built-in memory: 3063 MB
    Free memory: 1981 MB
Memory available to Photoshop: 1643 MB
Memory used by Photoshop: 60 %
    Image cache levels: 4

I have never had to reinstall any program for a video driver.
Now, check out the instructions for your particular nVidia driver, and the exact steps can differ. Just did my Quadro FX-4500 and it was just an install over the older driver. However, looking at another nVidia card's driver, and there were 3-4 settings in the nVidia console, that had to be reset BEFORE installing that driver. Did not affect me, but would have been a different operation for the next guy, with a different nVidia card. nVidia makes it easy with the necessary instructions - follow those to the letter, or issues can arise and the entire driver can get hosed. Things could be a simple as download, and execute, to having to do several things before you execute.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
