Nvidia module in X fails to load after Patch 118844-28
I'm new to Solaris so please bear with me.
I just received a shipment of Ultra 20 workstations and while setting up one of them, I used the Update manager to install all the patches. After installing the kernel update, X fails to run since the Nvidia module doesn't load, which makes sense since its a new kernel(Is this wrong, I'm used to Linux).
So I download the latest nvidia module from Nvidia.com and the installer runs with no problem. I reboot and still no go.
I've looked around and found something about using the update_drv command, and I tried that with no luck. Used reboot -- -r to reconfigure everything and still nothing. There is nothing that stands out from dmesg, so I'm at my wits end.
Any ideas?

But for Solaris is does not make sense that drivers start to fail
when the kernel is patched. This assumes the driver is using
documented kernel interfaces only - in this case a kernel update
should not cause driver failures.

(solved) Nvidia woes... failed to load X model
When I launch x I get these errors.. eventually it loads and everything seems alright but I want to know what is going on. Help?

The vesa and fbdev errors were always there, those two are potential fallback drivers. What's new now is that instead of nvidia-utils installing a xorg.conf.d/20-nvidia.conf, X has been patched to load nouveau, nv, nvidia, in that order. Since you don't have the first two installed, and you shouldn't if you want to use the third, you'll see error messages for them. It's normal. -
Internet appears connected but pages fail to load after 3-5 minutes! HELP!
I purchased my Macbook three weeks ago and it immediately found my network and connected. A few days later my computer failed to load internet pages (both in firefox and safari). The connection would not disconnect, or seem to slow. I diagnosed and found no problems. To get it to work for small amounts of time I turn off airport and then turn it back on and get a few minutes before I get "Problem Loading Page".
I have updated the firmware in my router. I use a D-Link Router WBR-1310 and a D-Link Cable Modem DCM-202. I have called my cable provider, Comcast, and they tested the connection saying it was strong. I connected directly to the modem and it never failed to stop loading pages the full 20 minutes I was connected.
My computer has no problem connecting to other connections: The Library, neighbors, my parents' home. There are no time outs and it automatically connects through Airport, no problem.
I have called D-Link about the router. They're a bit confusing in troubleshooting the problem. They told me to connect my Ethernet cable to the computer and manually put in IP address, subnet mask, router address, and name server address. First, I don't know where to find any of that except for the IP address. Secondly, do they expect me to connect and leave the ethernet cable in my computer?
Have there been any problems with Macs and this router? What am I doing wrong and has D-Link given me good steps to take? My experience with them hasn't been so great so I'm skeptical. All of this is very upsetting, I can't enjoy my new Macbook at home.FrankInColorado wrote:

Come on. He connected directly to the modem and was loading Web pages for 20 minutes without any problem. He goes back to using Airport and the problem reappears. And you think it's reasonable to assume it was just a coincidence that the supposed DNS issue went away while he was connected to the modem and reappeared when he went back to Airport?
It depends now, doesn't it, as I just said.
Perhaps he tried "surfing to a few sites" while connected directly, and when that worked he went back to AirPort. Did he try going to the same sites? Different ones? We don't know.
In fact, even if he did visit the same sites, that wouldn't tell us anything either way as the DNS resolutions for those sites would have been cached when he was connected to the wired network.
This is the same thing that has happened to me since upgrading to Leopard. My wireless started going bad after some minutes of accessing Web sites. If I rebooted the machine, it would be fine again for a while. I finally just turned Airport off and plugged in an Ethernet cable. I have not had any trouble with accessing Web sites since - same ISP (Comcast), same DNS servers.
Tell me there is no Airport issue.

Your approach to troubleshooting seems to be "Ah, Apple's software is broken, why bother."
1) There are many people whose problems have been solved by switching to OpenDNS' servers. That's fact.
2) There are many ISPs who have broken DNS servers. That's also fact.
3) Comcast has a variety of DNS servers spread across the country, so your results in Colorado may differ from those of a Comcast subscriber in a different state. Fact again.
4) You asked for reasons, I gave them, you don't like them. Obviously I must be an Apple shill. Funny, I'll have to ask why I haven't received a paycheck from Cupertino. Ever.
I understand your frustrations if AirPort isn't working for you, but don't turn around and drop into troubleshooting threads and tell people why suggestions we're making can't possibly address their issues just because they haven't solved your particular issue.
That would be just as silly as me assuming that because I haven't seen an AirPort drop since 2007, all of those posting in threads here are simply delusional or incompetent.
The only way to find out what's wrong in each case is to be methodical, and step one in diagnosing network delays is to see if DNS is at fault.
If it is, great, problem solved. If not, on to step two of a nearly infinite sequence.

HTTP.SYS fails to load after ProLiant NIC driver update on Server 2008 R2

This has been driving me crazy for a week and I can't find any reference to solving the problem in Technet or any forums...
I have a ProLiant ML350G5 server that I installed Server 2008 R2 on and migrated all my domain AD, DNS, File Services, Shares and files from SBS2003 (end of life, so let's take that out of the network) - Exchange and SharePoint were not being used so Standard
server 2008 was the choice seeing that the server hardware is 4 years old...
Everything went well, migration was successful, AD was primary and active.
Then (stupidly) I decided I'd better install all the updated drivers and management software from HP. The NIC is showing as an HP NC373i which is a Broadcom BCM5708C. I updated the FLASH in that card (HP utility) and updated the driver to the latest version
7.8.52.0 along with a bunch of other updates all handled by HP's Support Solutions Framework (msi).
After the reboot required, I noticed that the Print Spooler (set to Automatic) didn't start, neither did IIS or Web Services...
Trying to manually start them gives the error that a dependency failed. Now Print Spooler only uses HTTP (no longer a "service" but integrated into the kernel for multiple http connections on the same port and controlled using netsh http command
prompt...) DCOM and RPC. The last 2 are running, so that leaves HTTP as the culprit.
The Event Log shows that HTTP failed to load as "the services cannot be started. Either because it is disabled or because
it has no enabled devices associated with it"
From an administrator cmd prompt, net start http gives the same failure error.
netsh http show servicestate returns "The handle is invalid" - it's not seeing http at all...

I uninstalled anything http related, IIS, BITS, Web, Printing Services. Reboot after reboot and still no HTTP. I deleted http.sys from \windows\system32\drivers and did sfc to get windows to give me a clean one. Reboot, still doesn't load so it's not a damaged

I uninstalled EVERYTHING ProLiant, uninstalled the NIC, deleted the bxnd60a.sys driver so Windows would use it's own, rebooted, let it load NIC drivers, set the IP's up again, reboot - still no http.sys loading...
I've tried older versions of drivers from Broadcom, the latest version of drivers, still in the same hole...
Does anyone know how I can get HTTP.SYS to associate with the NIC? Can I do anything in the registry to achieve this? Do I have to do a System State Backup (is that the only way to preserve the AD and DNS?) scrub the server and start from scratch and then
restore the System State to get my AD and DNS back? If I do that will it bring the http.sys fault back?

Plugins Failed to Load after AE Update
After updating to 11.0.2.12 I receive this error when starting After Effects.

All three failed to load.I'm not saying it causes "more" issues than it provides fixes, it's just causing other issues. Of course this is a typical case of "YMMV", but I've seen too many issues popping up over the last few days to really give this a clean bill, and that's not even counting the notorious unreliability of Application Manager/ Update Manager. Well, whatever, anybody is free to try, just don't say you haven't been warned....

Install Oracle Database 11g - working fine and running
Install WebLogic Server Version: 10.3.5.0 - working fine - Console opens fine

DevOk, I saw that there were two parallel schemas running, now when i deleted one of them, i can see only one soa-infra, but its down :(

Upon doing a search on this i found that these errors occur only after when we trying to deploy any application, but its a fresh installation and we are not trying to deploy any thing yet and we should not get this error.

How i can saved and load the settings when i start my session again , because i try to put in my ~/.xinitrc

(if any) I have a similar problem since the last Gnome 3.12, doesn't matter where I put the command "nvidia-settings --load-config-only" it just doesn't work. I have to either open the GUI or issue the command on the terminal for it to happen, I tried with ~/.config/autostart/ /etc/xdg/autostart/ with a .xprofile file, a .xinitrc, nothing works, I can't tell from where this problem originates. Other programs start just fine with the mentioned methods, then it must be something wrong with the way nvidia is invoked I guessing, a couple of months ago was working flawlessly.

Apps fail to load after a reset that freezes
Hey, I got myself a iphone 3g 8GB on O2 pay and go 4 days ago and since then i have had nothing but trouble with it freezing on wakeup after installing apps.
I have to hold the home key and power button for 10 secs to get it to turn on, and after it does all of the apps that i have installed no longer open, they just flash up and go strait away back to the home screen.
i have searched many forums and seen the trick to de-authorise and authorise itunes on the pc and then sync to get the apps working again, that works great but after a few hours of use, if i power it off and go to wake it up again, it will Freeze on the apple logo and i have to do the hard boot and itunes sync trick again, just a constant loop.
I have done 3 restores on the iphone also, after the restore if i dont install any apps so just sync my music and some videos, it will work perfectly all day, but as soon as i install a app from the app store, the trouble begins (only installed google earth for test) i can send it to sleep and it will boot just fine if i do it a few mins after the install, but do the sleep then boot after a few hours of instaling any app, and its back to the apple logo freeze, then the app no longer loads.
This time after doing a restore i have installed all my apps using only itunes, and after a full day of me resetting it tons of times its working perfectly, Very odd, so it seems to be that i cannot install apps using the app store on my iphone without getting this logo freeze and then app crash problem.
Can anyone see where i may be going wrong? I Do want to be able to install apps while im out and about with my phone so this is very annoying:(
Message was edited by: DraususI just tried something. I found out that my phone was using my mobile me apple ID. I switched my apple store to my itunes ID and I've made sure I'm using that for my apps. So far, I haven't had my app problem. Something you might want to check, make sure you are using the same ID for your apps, music, and other iphone stuff.

OS X 10.8.3 fails to load after reboot
I am having some serious troubles with my MacBook 13.3 Oct 2009 edition after updating to the latest version 10.8.3.
1: it would boot to a blackscreen and with a flashing cursor on the top left hand corner and sit there and nothing else happens.
2: rebooted Mac a few times and each time after that comes up with the following error message:
"No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key"
This is happening STRAIGHT after the update, I've never had such a problem like this with any of the previous updates. Something seriously went wrong with the update for this happen..
I need some help before going to Apple store (which I have already booked anyways - just incase).
I am sort of familar with the OS and Mac's but not that great with fixing errors.
Any help would be most appreciated..

Straight to the nearest Apple Store, I would suggest. Drives can fail at any time, with no symptoms whatsoever. They can also be triggered by system updates, if they are on the verge of failing anyway (the straw that breaks the camels back). If it is your drive, then a new one is not that expensive and you can migrate your data from Time Machine to your new drive.

ITunes fails to load after migrating personal info.
iTunes fails to to load on my out of the box 2.8 single quad MacPro. here's one of the error messages.

it didn't like the other 2 plugins either. i removed the plugins - still would't load. i download a fresh version, installed, same problems.
my old home folder info was migrated from my old G4 Quicksilver running 10.3. i'm thinking compatibility issues with old home folder data and the newer operating system & iTunes. i have nearly 20k music files all organized into playlists that i don't want to reconstruct, so i'd like to at least save my old playlist if possible. my original iTunes folder is backed up on an external drive as is my entire old hard drive.I just got back from AppleCare, and it was because iTunes Store was down.
It's gone back to normal. -
Windows Fails to Load After Upgrade to Mavericks

I'm a little late to this party, but hoping to find some help. I can see my WindowsXP Pro partition on the desktop, but after upgrading to Mavericks it won't fully start up. I'll get the usual screens, then the XP loading screen with the blue loading animation. After about 5 passes of the blue thing, it will hesitate and flash a blue screen so fast, that it took me several attempts to snap a photo so I could read it. "Unmountable_Boot_Volume" is the error. It then says to follow these steps... but cuts off and reboots.
One thing of note is that Parallels 10 uses the same XP virtual machine and boots just fine, so I figure XP can't be all that messed up. Maybe a driver issue, not sure. Does Mavericks not support XP? I'm open to Windows 7, but I'd like to backup some stuff first if possible. Maybe I can do that through Parallels?

Upgraded from 10.6.8, but I tried unsuccessfully to upgrade to Lion first. That went all screwy but was able to go all the way to Mavericks instead. Proobably where things got messed up. I don't remember exactly how I fixed it. I didn't think I could go that current with this hardware.

Mail failing to load after 10.8.1 update
My mail client refuses to open after updating last night. The system error is
*** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInternalInconsistencyException', reason: 'Could not create ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail/Data/Library/_ˇˇˇ/f«/
Any one else having problems?If the printer is connected to the Mac via USB cable and you do not see it in the Default Add Printer view when you try to add it, then it could be the USB cable at fault. So if you have another USB printer cable then try this.
If the Mac still fails to see the HP then open System Information (Applications > Utilties) and in the left column, select the USB entry. The top right pane will show all the USB connections in your Mac. The HP should be visible in this list.
If the printer is not connecting to the Mac via USB but via wireless, then I believe for HP you do have to rely on the HP Software to add a network printer. So maybe check their web site for a later version of this network utility, as the one that came with the printer is probably not compatible with 10.8. -
Please help - CSAuth Fails to load after upgrading from V3.3 to V4.0.1
We have recently upgraded ACS V3.3 to V4.0.1 on Windows server 2003 SP1. However, now the windows service CSAuth fails to start. There's nothing in the CSAuth log file either.
If we do clean installs, installing V3.3 from new and then do a upgrade to V4.0.1 on a clean system it works fine.
The problem seems to be when we install fresh 3.3, then replicate our existing dbase to it, then upgrade to 4.0.
Does anyone have any ideas - any thoughts would be most welcomed,

When you say nothing in the csauth log... do you mean nothing at all... or nothing that looks like an error?
Try setting logging to max and seeing where it gets to.
I suspect there is something in your 3.3 config that doesnt get upgraded corectly. Its impossible for every scenario to be tested - Im not sure how much upgrade testing actually gets done. Probably left until the end of the test cycle.
