OAS 4.0.8.1 On RH62 with JDK118

Hi
I recieve an error while starting
owsctl start -l www

Error: Failed to start the server.

I suggest you to try Hello world example first.
Installing Jservlet application and catridge is not a problem at all as long as you follow the procedure given.
I used JDeveloper to create a JServlet. You may go to 'sample code' section of the OTN to see the procedure to create JServlet.
set the virtual path / physical path correctly.
Sometime, it is necessary to reboot the system. System keeps some information in the buffer and keep giving old pages.
For example, we created a JServlet with a message 'Hello World'. It worked fine.
We changed the program to display 'Hello Jay World'. We continued to get only 'Hello World', not 'Hello Jay World'.
When my friend suggested me to reboot the machine, I did it with a little bit of hesitation. But, it worked.
I have installed 8i, OAS in one system and working in the same system.

  • OAS 4081: How to use a DAD with JServlet cartrige and JDBC?

i try to open a db connection in the jservlet cartdige via jdbc, using the following url-format in the getconnection() method:
    "jdbc:oracle:jts7:@<myDAD>"
i get an sqlexception "sub protocol not specified".
the release notes of version 4081 say that something has changed in the jdbc/jts drivers from version 407 but they don't say what.
    does anybody know?

    1) declaring the dad and the jservlet cartdige transactional or non-transactional in the oas manager seems to have no effect on this problem
    2) connection without the jts and the URL "jdbc:oracle:oci8/thin:@<tnsname>" works fine

    Hi Amit,
Sounds like a good idea but then you would need an external db and update the table in a thread safe way !.

  • OC4J with OAS Port questions

We are using Oracle DB and OAS 10g. OAS is installed on a Windows2K server, with the Infrastructure and Portal instances. We created a new OC4J instance in the Infrastructure, and have deployed an EJB application to this instance. The port assigned for RMI access is 3205.
We are having problems connecting to this port from a remote java client.
From the local server, I can perform a telnet to localhost:3205. Thus, the service should be accessible. However, from a remote machine, the telnet to server:3250 gets a 'connection refused'. This also occurs from the java client attempting to connect to the server and port. It seems that the port is only accessible from the local server.
Is this a configuration issue in OAS, or should remote systems be accessing the EJB application through a different port?
    Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
    -- Rhonda

There's a special lookup prefix you can use when accesing EJBs in an OracleAS installation from remote clients.
The lookup is of the form opmn:ormi://host/app -- this basically tells the JNDI call to first contact the OPMN service which manages processes in OracleAS to obtain the correct ORMI port for the OC4J process.
OPMN manages the processes in an OracleAS environment, and dynamically allocates ports so they don't conflict with one-another.
You can hardcode the ORMI port settings, see:
    http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_04/web.1012/b14012/ormi.htm#i1084416
But if you let OPMN provide them at runtime, it'll help you in cases where you have more than one OC4J process running on the server as it will avoid the port conflicts for you automatically.
The J2EE Services Guide has more info about this. See http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_04/web.1012/b14012/ormi.htm#i1085120

  • Help with OAS

I am trying to setup a webserver for a PeopleSoft install on HP-UX. I have run into a number of errors and had a case with PeopleSoft. After several days I was basically told that I have to use the same ID to install OAS_Home as I do to setup the webservers for each environment. Basically my PSOFT install id has to be the same as my the ID we manage oracle applications with. This does not seem reasonable to me espcially since I have been at multiple locations that have a seperate PSFOFT owner for each environment and that would not even be possible in this scenario.
What I am hoping someone can answer is if this is really accurate information I was given. I find it hard to believe that OAS would be so much less flexible in this regard than something like WebLogic. Is anyone using OAS with PeopleSoft and have seperate IDs for the PS and OAS_Home installs?
    Thanks

  • Will Zend PHP ship with OAS ?

I thought I read somewhere that either OAS 10G R2 or R3 will ship with the mod_php ? Now I'm having trouble determing if that is true or not from the online documentation...nor can I find where I originally read it. (Was I dreaming?)

  • No effect for registration the Partner Application SSO for OAS 10.1.2.0.2

Dear OAS experts, could you please help me with the problem, it worried me for weeks:
    I have 2 OAS 10.1.2.0.2 on a different physical servers -
    1) type Identity Management, host - OIDserver.mysite.ru, ORACLE_HOME = /d01/oracle/prd/imapp,
    2) type J2EE and Web Cache, host - PerlApp.mysite.ru, ORACLE_HOME = /d01/oracle/prd/app_server_101202
they both are in the farm INFRA.mysite.RU, Repository Type - Database
There is a Perl application on a 2-nd server, it should be working thru SSO thru any free port (https). I defined 4445 for it. It's supposed that reference https://PerlApp.mysite.ru:4445 will be redirected to SSO. (On a 4445 for ssl it is faking certificate Oracle for testing purposes, but it doesnt bother me cause I need just to check if it redirects to SSO server, and next step I make certificate real).
What I did: I registered partner app on 1 server as per doc:
    $ORACLE_HOME/sso/bin/ssoreg.sh -oracle_home_path /d01/oracle/prd/imapp -site_name PerlApp.mysite.ru:4445 -config_mod_osso TRUE -mod_osso_url https://PerlApp.mysite.ru:4445 -remote_midtier -config_file /d01/oracle/prd/imapp/Apache/Apache/conf/osso/osso4445.conf
Then I transfer appeared file osso4445.conf from 1 to 2 server thru FTP in /d01/oracle/prd/app_server_101202/Apache/Apache/conf/osso/
I changed /d01/oracle/prd/app_server_101202/Apache/Apache/conf/mod_osso.conf on 2 server a bit, so that it referenced new config file osso4445.conf
    It looks like:
    LoadModule osso_module libexec/mod_osso.so
    <IfModule mod_osso.c>
    OssoIpCheck off
    OssoIdleTimeout off
    OssoConfigFile /d01/oracle/prd/app_server_101202/Apache/Apache/conf/osso/osso4445.conf
    # Insert Protected Resources: (see Notes below for how to protect resources)
    # Notes
    # 1. Here's what you need to add to protect a resource,
    # e.g. <ApacheServerRoot>/htdocs/private:
    # <Location /private>
    # require valid-user
    # AuthType Basic
    # </Location>
    </IfModule>
At the end I restarted HTTP-server thru OEM console and checked:
when I go to https://PerlApp.mysite.ru:4445 there is no any SSO redirect, it is just a certified page for App Server. What have I done wriong?

Oracle AS 10.1.2 doesn't support J2EE 1.4 in general. You might be lucky with your tests on the other 10.1.2.x versions. For J2EE 1.4 applications you should consider AS 10.1.3.x.

Check if there is no a pid or trace or any file that is created during the start of this kind of process and remove it and try again. As well you may check if there is a java process from the console kill it and start it.

  • A reasonable hardware configuration for Linux OAS

Has anyone out there tried to run

Could you tell me the nature of your

The technical FAQ lists 48 megs and any

configuration to run both Oracle 8 and OAS .

    I have been runnig OAS/O8 on a Pii/300Mhz system with 128mb of
ram, and so far I have no real complaints on speed. I even tuned
the SGA to give a little better performance and still have around
40 or so MB free. BTW, I haven't really tried to mess around
with the Linux version of OAS, but have used the Solaris version
previously, have you noticed any problems with the wrb starting
up? I have seen some error messages saying "No processes..." or

I have oas 4.07, dev 6.0 and oracle 8i and oracle 8.0.x, and
oracle 7.3.x running together. Your problem is most likely the
TNSNAMES.ORA file, gather up all the tnsnames.ora, create one
    MASTER copy, and then
    regedit
    hkey_local_machine (dble click)
    software (dble click)
oracle (single click) so that the right half of the screen is a
list of keys, then right click on oracle, choose new-> string
    value
    enter the value: TNS_ADMIN
then <cr> then right click on TNS_ADMIN choose modify, and enter
    the string:
the PATH of your tnsnames.ora, format is:
    drive:\path
e.g. for our installation with the file:
    w:\tns\tnsnames.ora
    available to everyone, just enter:
    w:\tns
    in the key value.
This works EXCEPT for sqlplusw.exe the new client sqlplus that
    comes
with 8i, this is fixed in 8.1.6 (don't ask oracle, they don't
know when this is coming out) the workaround is to have an older
version of plus, plus80w works fine to connect to all the
    databases.
To check this, run an sqlplus session to each of your databases,
if you can connect, then you should be able to connect using dev.
    6.0.
Also, if you read the fine print in the release notes, oas 4.0.7
will NOT work with multiple oracle homes on the NT. This should
still be ok, as long as your 8i is remote,
good luck, holler if you need any further help, and i can send
you directory listings, and html that works.
ps, watch out for the forms runform as web, it screws up images,

We have more than 10 Oracle iAS based web/forms/reports applications in the corp, and some are 9ias R1 and some are 10gR2. Some do not have the OID tied to and some do not have OID. As you know, each oracle ias has its own user repository.
We are asked to integrate all the iAS applications to a central OIM, means one OID to manage all of the user accounts for all the iAS applications. I think the 1st of all we need to bring all to current OAS version 10gR2, then integrate all togather with one OIM(OID). How do we do the integtation? any one could point the relevant document?
    TIA

If you need provisioning, your product is OIM. OAM
controls access to web applicationes. If you need to
provision different apps, and each one has its own
user repository, you will need to deploy an OIM
connector for each of them.I have done the integration of OIM 10.1.4.2 with Oracle Apps 11i and now consider on adding other standalone applications such web apps, discoverer to the system. Seems from your answer, we do not need OAM. We only want the accounts managed at the central OIM. Let me know if i am wrong.
    Thanks

  • How o set envoirmental settings of OAS 10g (10.1.2.0.2)?

    Hi,
I am first time installing the OAS 10g (having OSS and OID) on OEL 5.5 x86 , and after that I will go to integrate it with EBS (12.0.6) with database 10g.
    I have 3 machines:
1: One for oracle Application server (EBS r12 (12.0.6)) ----> Red Hat Linux 4.6 x86 ---------> Install and functioning.
2: Second for oracle database server (oracle 10g (10.2.0.3)) ---> Red Hat Linux 4.6 x86 ---------> Install and functioning.
3: Third for OAS 10g(10.1.2.0.2) with "OAS Infrastructure" and "OAS Middle Tier" (On same machine with different ORACLE_HOME). ------> OEL 5.5 x86 ------> Not Installed .
So, I had installed the "OAS Infrastructure" , but not install the "OAS Middle Tier",, and I restart the OS , after that my envoirnment is not loaded and I cannot startup the OAS services.
Please guide me about my above plan is correct or any helpful suggessions from ur side, I will appretiate in advance?
Please also guide me how to set the envoirnmental setting for OAS?
    Thanks.

AMERICAN_AMERICA.AR8MSWIN1256and also check your database characterset. it should be AL32UTF8.
    select * from NLS_DATABASE_PARAMETERS
