It appears that one of the file download links (*sqldevmngdb.zip*) in the Prerequisites for OBE Tutorial Oracle SQL Developer 1.5 New Features is broken.

I have an SSIS package with a XML package configuration file. I deployed it to the sql server using the import feature in SSMS (in Stored Packages, right click MSDB, select Import, select the package to deploy in file system). My question is
Is the XML package configuration file also deployed? If so, which folder is it stored so that I can change the values in it? If not, is setting up the Configuration tab when scheduling a agent job the way to go manually bring the configuration file in?

A followup questions:
I used direct setting for the configuration file path on C:\. But it needs to be on D:\ on the remote server. I can't create the D:\ path because I don't have D:\ drive on my computer (I understand I could use indirect setting to change the path in the remote
server. But that's not the concern here).
My question is: since the configuration is not deployed, can I make it up by setting up the Configurations in creating the agent job step? That is, copy the configuration file to the D:\ drive on the remote server, in Configurations tab, add the configuration
file on D:\ to the configuration. Will it work? Will the package still look for the original config file on C:\? and if it doesn't find it there, will it cause any error?

New feature request -- more flexibility in file management

I'm new to iPhoto and hope someone can help.
I have a large, existing image database (5000+) that I'd like to migrate into iPhoto. I have an established organizational flow where I use a third-party utility to rename my files using the EXIF date as YYYY.MM.DD_000X.JPG (where "X" is a serial number than is incremented automatically). The photos are then organized into a Finder folder hierarchy using YYYY/MM.
If in Preferences I check "Copy files to iPhoto library folder" then iPhoto copies all my files to the "iPhoto Library" folder, doubling the disk space consumed. That's a substantial percentage of my Mac Mini's hard drive capacity! Worse, iPhoto arbitrarily organizes the imported files into year 2000 and year 2005 folders, without creating folders for 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, or 2006. So if I import additional images in the future I have no control over how it will be organized in the Finder. My organizational scheme and workflow are hosed!
If in Preferences I UNcheck "Copy files to iPhoto library folder" then I lose other necessary functionality. For example, if I delete a file in iPhoto the actual file WON'T be deleted from the disk (even after "Emptying the Trash" in iPhoto). I verified this several times. The file structure on the disk and iPhoto's library will get out of synch unless I manually delete in both places, which is unmanageable if you delete a lot of photos! It also wastes disk space.
Can't Apple simply add a "Monitor folders" feature like Photoshop Elements and many other programs have which automatically detects when files are added or deleted from the directory structure the library points to? This would be soooo much better than forcing iPhoto users to live with the kind of frustrating trade-offs described above.
iPhoto is the 3rd or 4th image editing program I've tried over the years. I WANT to like iPhoto because I really like my Mac Mini, but the reality is I may at some point want to move on to something better. If I use iPhoto it appears I either have to live with losing control of my organizational structure or losing basic functionality like having photos deleted from the disk.
Am I missing something here? Is there a workaround so that I can get what I want from iPhoto?

Welcome to the iPhoto discussions.
First thing to remember is that everything you want to do, all the organisation takes place within the iPhoto window. Ignore what goes on in the iPhoto Library folder, you simply never, ever have to do any work in there. In fact it is strongly recommended that you never touch or change anything there as it will profoundly affect the running of the app.
Given the above, you can import your pics into iPhoto and then Trash your originals. Yes, once you are happy that iPhoto has taken all the pics in, you can throw away your originals, this eliminates the problem of the doubled-up disk space. But, you may ask, what if I want to keep my originals. iPhoto does this for you. If you edit or alter a pic in iPhoto you can always revert to the original as iPhoto keeps the original.

Yes it is, totally done for - because you are not organising the pics in the finder any more, you're organising them in iPhoto.
You can organise pics in just about any way imaginable in iPhoto: by date, by time, by keyword, by ratings by a combination of them all. Want to find the pics taken in June 2003, no problem. Want to find only the pics of your dog taken in June 2003? No problem if you use keywords. Want to find all the pics of your dog that don't have your cat taken any month in 2003 except June? You get the picture.
Drag a folder of pics to the Source pane in iPhoto, it will create an album. You can recreate you current system in iPhoto quite easily, and then improve upon it. Keywords are particularly powerful, as are smart albums. I have a library of over 8,000 pics, and as I import them I add keywords. With a smart album I can find every pic of my daughter that I have, and as I add more they get added to the smart album automatically.
You can still continue to rename your files in whatever way is meaningful to you prior to importing. That doesn't have to change. Just do it prior to importing to iPhoto. The you can use Spotlight to find a pic called 2003.10.23_004.
Or you can just drag it from the iPhoto window to your desktop and it makes a copy - your original is still safe. You can e-mail pics from within iPhoto and so on.
The most important thing to remember is that your organisation is done within iPhoto. It does the heavy lifting.

The wifi feature has broken

I recently dropped my iphone and had the screen replaced. After that my wifi feature stopped working, is there any chance this could have affected it? My wifi only stopped working after I'd dropped my iPhone

It's broken, what more do you need to know?
Was the screen replaced by Apple? I'm going to guess the answer is no.
If it was replaced by Apple, take the device back to them for an Out of Warranty replacement.
If it was not replaced by Apple, either take the device to some 3rd party repair place or junk it and buy a replacement. Apple will not touch the device after it has been opened by others.

IPhone has broken links in mail

I receive several mail with links from forums I visit. On my iPad I can just tab the links, but on the iPhone the links are broken, and when I tab them, the path to the forum thread is not existing. This has been a problem very long, please help.

try to duplicate the problem when you make a new User account on your Mac:
- open System Preferences, Accounts
- click the + sign and make a new User
- switch to the new user account (appears top right when you click on your user name)
- start Mail and enter your email account settings
- try sending a Mail
If this duplicates your problem, the Mail program itself maybe corrupt and you may need to re-install.
If this does not duplicate your problem, your problem is local.
Not sure how you can repair this, but you might try to drag your plist file to the desktop and restart Mail:
Open Preferences from within the Mail program and note the exact settings for your email accounts.
Quit Mail
Drag the following file to the desktop:
your home directory / Library / Preferences / com.apple.mail.plist
Restart Mail
Re-install your mail settings
These actions will not interfere with your mailboxes, it will simply create a new plist preference file when you re-start Mail.

Layer Overides lost when new layers added to linked AI file

OK, so I'm working on complex site plans. 3-4 alternate designs each with different phases. It actually all setup well in Illustrator so turning on and off the right set of layers gives the desired view for everything I need. The problem was that when I make changes, I had to keep manually switching layers around, export scene, switch layers again, and repeat over and over.
The reason each phase doesn't stand on its own is that there are a lot of shared elements and I only want to have to update it one place, vs. multiple copies. Illustrator doesn't seem o have layer comps like Photoshop, but I fond that I could get pretty much what I wanted by placing the file in Illustrator and using import options to set layer override. Now when I update everything is great, Just go to ID file and say export to jpgs.
So now to the problem. When I add a layer to my Illustrator file (lets say for new design option) InDesign says something like layers changed, I'm going to throw away all of your layer overrides. This is not good. Why can't it just ask me if I want all new layers on, off, or better yet bring up those layers like original import and let me decide for each instance what I want to do with them.
So as is once it throws away my layer overrides, I've found that you can't directly add back layer overrides. It only allows this at import. So I have to re-import the file (20 times - once for each page) and manually re-set all of the layers overrides. If I have old link selected when I replace it then at least it is correctly located, but still a pain.
So I guess good work practice when I know I'm going to do this is to add an extra 10 place holder top level layers. Then they will be their waiting when I need them, but just won't be able to re-name them.
I assume maybe InDesign has same issue with Photoshop Layer override, but at least there I could setup named Layer Comps which would solve this problem (assuming that layer comps addresses added layers better).

I use this all the time for packaging proofing (I send out a proof page with two examples of the art, one with just the artwork layers showing and a smaller thumbnail with no art but the dieline, windows and opaque white printer showing)
To speed things up with Object Layer Options, I set a keyboard shortcut and turn the display performance way down.
I don't think it would help in your situation, but grouping layers in AI makes any changes you make to that set of layers in AI "invisible" to InD, so it doesn't scrap your layer overides, but it also means you have no ability to do anything in InD except turn on or off the entire layer group.

Help! Save to remote server has broken links to all images

Okay, I (now) know this was a stupid thing to do - but surely there must be an easy way to rectify it...!?
I usually 'PUT' the html files to the remote server, once they have been saved locally. But I keep getting frustrated with the uploading of all the dependency files, so... I 'discovered' the command 'SAVE TO REMOTE SERVER' and used this to save my html file directly to the server. I was asked if I wanted to update all the links - and I clicked YES (doh!)
Now all my images and links are broken.
I know it is just a single page - but it contains quite a number of links and images. Also, this page used a template and the image/links from the template within this one file are also broken. (The actual template file and all the other pages in the site are okay)
'Undo' did not work
Does anybody know a quick way to fix this?

Sorry to say you've learn a valuable lesson the hard way. Never, never save to remote server without first checking your work locally.
You'll need to fix the links. Working locally and in code view, identify the path problem. Do a Find & Replace (Ctrl+F) in the source code. Test in browsers. THEN when everything works properly upload to server.

RC2 has broken link to PS6 Beta

Hello
After installing LR4.1 RC2 i have lost the link to PS6 when working with CR2 files... when i right click "edit in" PS6 opens but no document is created... when i do teh same with a DNG file all works fine... perhaps it is an issue with Camera Raw compatability?
Both CR2 and DNG work fine with PS5.5
Obviously this is not a major issue but it is behaviour that needs to be fixed...

Found my own answer for this one i think...
If i understadn the info i found, ACR 6.7 supports CR2 files from 5D MKII but ACR 7.0 does not... as PS CS6 uses ACR 7.0 i suppose that explains teh issue...

Or update using the this download > Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo
