ODBC Client 10.1.0.2.0 Installation x64

I really could use some help here! I have downloaded the latest basic client and odbc connection and have tested my connection using SQL net and that works fine. However, when trying to establish my odbc connection within Windows, I get the errror message TNS: 12545 Connect failed because target host or object does not exist. I have verified the tsnames.ora and sqlnet.ora files are correct and they work when I run the following:
set path c:\OracleClient;%path%
set TNS_ADMIN=C:\OracleClient
set LD_LIBRARY_PATH=C:\OracleClient
set SQLPATH=C:\OracleClient
sqlnet username password@tsname
I have setup enviromental variables within Windows Server 2003 (x64) for these and it still gives the same error when testing the odbc connection. Any ideas!!!

From dump message, looks like your client are calling whole banch of 32bit library. Are your application server also 64 bit ? Can you try install a 64bit client?
It's also a good idea to patch up your client a bit.
You should also consider submit a SR on metalink.

  • Windows ODBC Client for Timesten in Solaris Sparc

Hello, i need help to solve this issue :
I have a Timesten version 5.1.28 ( 32 bits) running in Solaris Sparc and a Windows 2003 server connected to the same network.
I need to install a Timesten ODBC client in my windows 2003 server in order to get connection to my timesten database in Solaris.
How can i get a timesten ODBC client for Windows ??
    Thanks for your Help
    Luis.

    Hi Luis,
TimesTen 5.1 is a desupported release. If you are a licensed TimesTen customer, you need to contact the TimesTen Support team to get your issue resolved as the 5.1 release is not available for download from OTN.
To contact the Oracle TimesTen Support team, please open a Metalink case for the TimesTen product, the product number is 1870. This will get routed to the Oracle TimesTen Support engineers.
If you already have the Windows 5.1.28 TimesTen bits, you can do the client only installation.

  • Unattended install of oracle ODBC client

    Hi,
I'm trying to install the Oracle ODBC client on a W2K server. This server is a Terminal server. This server is being installed completely unattended. For one of our new programs on the server we need an ODBC connection to our Oracle Server. We tried the connection and it worked fine.
Now we need of course to make the installation unattended, and there comes the problem. I've been testing with responsefiles and silent install, but that gives me an error/warning that the "temporary location can not be openend. Verify the 'source'". I don't know what the message means.
Does anyone have an idea how I can do this installation without the oracle installer, or is there an easier way.
Or does anyone have a solution to this problem I'm having with the responsefile.
    Thanks,

  • Error 10038 when trying to setup an ODBC Client DSN

TimesTen 7.0.5.0.0 as well as 11.2.1.4.0 on some PC's return a TCP Reset when an ODBC Client DSN attempts to connect. The trace in the tterrors.log file for the 11.2 release is:
    10:54:59.64 Err : SRV: 13732: EventID=3| Socket send() failed. Error (10038). File: C:/ADE/pechan_install-pop/timesten/VisiChannel/oc/src/vostcpip.cpp; Line: 742

10:54:59.75 Err : SRV: 13732: EventID=68| Failed to read request from client. Closing connection without reply.
The Client displays a 10054 error code.
The errors with 7.0.5 are identical except for the line numbers:
    10:56:35.87 Err : SRV: 10520: EventID=3| Socket send() failed. Error (10038). File: d:/TTBuild/main_0313/VisiChannel/oc/src/vostcpip.cpp; Line: 734

10:56:35.96 Err : SRV: 10520: EventID=68| Failed to read request from client. Closing connection without reply.
This happens when setting up the ODBC Client on Windows: when clicking the "refresh" button on the client screen. Tracing shows the TCP message going to the server and a TCP RST being returned. If anything other than the TT_INTERNAL_DSN message is sent, the server returns a TCP FIN, so it seems comms is ok.
We cannot find anything common on the PC's that do or do not work. Running Windows XP.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

On another forum, I found the hint, "Another possible cause is the presence of layered winsock providers. "netsh winsock show" at a cmd prompt will show you the installed providers and you can try removing any non-microsoft ones."
Tried this and on examining the netsh output from the affected PC's, found that they have Embassy Trust Suite by Wave Systems installed. Evidently Dell pre-installed this on some of their PC's.
Anyway, on uninstalling this software, the problem has been solved.

  • Odbc client impact question 8.1.7 / Windows 2008 r2 64X

howdy all , i have several questions which might have been documented , but not marked as supported so maybe someone could answer just a few of my questions here goes :
    - we have an oracle 8.1.7 (p2 ) database with support running on linux 2.4
    - the clients connecting to the database is an older 8.1.6 (2) odbc client ( either running NT / 2000 / XP ) 32bit
    - the application which uses this database and odbc connection is damgaard axapta 2.5
i have read several documents that 10.2 oracle odbc client is supported connected to an older database, but i have not seen any documented related to my case
( either everybody has moved on or no-one else has experienced a similar situation )
what im trying to accomplish , is connecting a sharepoint server (2010 ) with sql (2008 ) with powerpivot
powerpivot reads data from the oracle server  through an odbc connection to an excel file ( works fine under a workstation rolled out as 32 bit )
so my main concern is , what if i install the 10.2 client on my server 2008 connecting to the 8.1.7 database , what could be expected ?

I would think you could expect a world of headaches.  Why, why, why do people insist on running software that hasn't been supported in the current millenium?  Why, why, why do they upgrade everything except the database?
See MOS note 207303.1.  It appears that your proposed combination is not supported.

  • Where in Labview does a ODBC client write data?

I trying to Interface Labview with a ODBC client. Where do you specify the path that it will write the Information into? Is it the Path that you asign when you create the Database table?

What I usually do is use a *.udl file, a special file that ODBC stores information on connecting to a database. to create a file is very easy under windows (XP) create a new file, right click on desktop, select new and either select text or Microsoft data link.  if you choose a text file remane it <name of link>.udl this extension will change it to a data link.  The icon will change, double click on the file and it will walk you through connecting with a database file (I have only done this with access and I am by no means a database expert), you can test the connection.  Use this file location to pass to the open database connection vi from the toolkit. Good luck,

  • How to install 11g ODBC client drivers to access OBIEE 11g server?

I have a user running Microsoft Excel on Wondows XP that wants to use ODBC to access an OBIEE 11g server running on Linux. The OBIEE 11g installation documentation indicates that a full install of OBIEE is required to install OBI client tools (including ODBC drivers). OBIEE version 10 had a separate client installation kit that made it very easy to install ODBC drivers. Does 11g have a client only installation kit like version 10? OR do I really have to perform a full OBIEE install on each client machine just to get the ODBC driver installed?
Any recommendations on how to install the OBIEE 11g ODBC driver, that DOES NOT require a full OBIEE installation, would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,

  • ODBC 8.1.7.4 - Oracle Universal Installer v. 1.7.1.3.0

    Hi all,
    Situation
I'm trying to install ODBC 8.1.7.4 - however when having selected the products.jar the OUI (1.7.0.something) says that this package needs OUI 1.7.1.3.0 to be installed.
    Problem
The OSP (which is the only component I can find on OTN that has the OUI) on the OTN download - is version 1.7.0.something).
Does anyone know where to get the latest - required - OUI ??
    Extra Q
Do I need more than the ODBC to connect from a W2K to a SUN based Oracle ?
(I saw something about Net8 - but have no clue if that's part of the ODBC package)
Best regards and (urgent :-) thanks
    Vitus

The ODBC driver relies on a lot of different libraries that are part of the Oracle client. The Net8 protocol, the NLS libraries, etc. in addition to the Oracle Universal Installer. If you do a custom install of the Oracle client, you can get the minimal set of libraries required by the ODBC driver.
Client/ server systems like ODBC, however, aren't designed to be particularly lightweight. A protocol like JDBC, which is designed to be used with thin clients, is designed to be used without the Oracle client.

  • Installing ODBC requires newer version of the Univeral Installer

Hi, I need to install a newer ODBC driver for 3rd part software to connect to our new UTF-8 version of the database. I downloaded the version of ODBC I need, but when I try to install it I get an error saying I need a newer version of the Universal Installer. I've looked all over the site and cant' find a place I can just download a new version of the OUI. Any suggestions?

What version of the Oracle client are you using and what version of the Oracle ODBC driver are you trying to use?
I expect that the problem you're having is that Oracle changed the way that ODBC driver updates are packaged a couple years ago. Rather than being separate downloads, they included the ODBC driver updates in the Oracle client patchsets you can download from Metalink. That simplified life in that organizations that apply the full client patchset didn't have to separately install the ODBC driver updates. It complicated life in that if a client patchset updates the version of the OUI that is installed, the stand-alone install you can download from OTN requires the patched OUI which you only get by installing the client patchset from Metalink or getting a later version of Oracle that happens to include the later version of the OUI. Assuming your organization has a valid support contract, getting the client patchset from Metalink is most likely the way to go.

  • Is web development client mandatory for JD Edwards E1 installation?

    Hi all
I am trying to install the JDEE1. I have installed Deplyoment Server in one machine.
I have installed the platform pack (enterprise and database server) in another machine.
I am trying to install the HTML Server in the third machine. In this last machine (the html server one), I have installed until now the Oracle Application Server and the Server Manager.
When I open for the first time the Server Manager, I have 6 configuration steps and I am stuck in the third one which is Database Setup.
On the page I have the note: "*Welcome to Server Manager for JD Edwards EnterpriseOne*!
Server Manager may need to occasionally connect to the system datasource during administrative activities. The system datasource is typically named ‘System – Release’, where release refers to the EnterpriseOne release level such as '812'. The settings required may be obtained by looking at the [DB SYSTEM SETTINGS] section of the JDE.INI that is used by client workstations."
But I have not any client workstations installed. In which jde.ini should I check this information?
Is this the jde.ini in Windows folder in Deployment Server installation?
Please help me for this issue.
    Thank you and best regards

On the Java Application Server Side WebLogic is replacing OAS (Oracle Application Server).
Oracle Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) it's not a component of JD Edwards.
In your list you are missing the Java App Server (OAS-WS-WLS) and Server Manager

  • 9i and 10g ODBC client

Hello. I have a client that has an issue with ODBC connections. They had the 9i Oracle client installed already on the desktop. 10g client was then installed. Once 10g client was installed they can no longer connect to the 9i instance but they are able to connect to the 10g instance. Any suggestions?
    Thanks

Does that mean that they will have to change the $ORACLE_HOME env variable each time they attempt to access either the 9i or 10g database? No.
Unless you have a very specific requirement to use only the 9i ODBC, the 10G ODBC should work for both.

  • Change R/3 client after EP7 / NW2004s double stack installation (UME settin

    Hello everyone,
we have install NW2004s with choosing usage type EP as double stack installation (means ABAP and Java) and using SAP R/3 as user persistence. At the install point, only the client 001 is known / can be used. After the installation (EP test runs without errors) we do a client copy to create a ABAP client (100) for usage as CUA/ User store. Later we patch also the ABAP and Java to SP6. Now the UME settings of the EP ar still pointing  to the client 001. But we want to use the client 100. Question is, where should we change the client -> in the Portal, system administration -> system configuration -> UME configuration -> R/3 or in the visual administrator of the WAS ?? Is there some concerns to change this HUME settings ?? (means JAVA will hangs or.... ?? Have any body some experience with this or tips ??
    thanks
    mario

    Hi Luis,
yes this works with no Problems. Following steps you should take / recomended to do:
    1. take your ABAP client Copy from Client 001 to your new Client on which now resident your UME
    2. look if all EP related User (J2EE_admin, maybe ADS_user..) and also the User which you have created are copy to the new client
    3. Go in the Portal to System Administration, SystemConfiguration, then UME Settings, and Change in the SAP Config the Client 001 to your new Client. Before Save take a connection test
    4. Aslo you can do this Change with the visual Admin, but we do this in the EP System Admin iView
    5. Restart the Portal / WAS
Tipp: If the connection-test faild later (we had this also) it works nevertheless o.k. as long you had the right settings - maybe thats a bug in the UME settings of SPS6

If you look at the release notes for MDAC 2.5 on the Microsoft Universal Data Access site, it lists a known issue with Oracle client, and the registry hack to fix it. I have not seen in any release notes since that specifically say they have addressed this issue!
