OES2 SP1 and OES11 SP1

Hi all,
Question:
We have 3 OES2 SP1 32 bit servers, Server A, B and C
Server A is holding the Master Replica, server B a read write and server C a read write.
We added 3 new OES11 SP1 64 bit servers to the tree, server D, E and F and no replica's on the servers
If we do a ndsrepair -T on server A, we can see all servers, A,B,C,D,E and F
If we do a ndsrepair -T on server B, we can see all servers, A,B,C,D,E and F
If we do a ndsrepair -T on server C, we can see all servers, A,B,C,D,E and F
If we do a ndsrepair -T on server D we only see the server itself
If we do a ndsrepair -T on server E, we see server A and itself
If we do a ndsrepair -T on server F we only see the server itself
Should'nt it be the case that all OES11 SP1 servers see each other and the OES2 SP1 servers, even there is no replica and they are OES11 SP1?

No, the 'Servers Known to this Database' and 'Timesync' reports do not
necessarily show all servers in the tree unless the servers on which they
run know about all of the servers by holding a replica of them. That does
not really matter, though, as long as eDirectory knows how to look up
other servers. in your case, with six servers in the tree, it is probably
safe to go ahead and add r/w replicas to the other systems which should
allow them to work more-quickly (no need to go on the wire for most
operations) in responding to client requests.
If you are experiencing any symptoms that you think may be related to
this, be sure that SLP is properly configured for your tree since, without
replicas on them, servers and clients may rely on SLP to find various
parts of the tree.

Application builder for Lab View 8.6.1 , 2009 SP1 and 2010 SP1

All 3 Versions seem to have huge flaws. With 8.6.1 When trying to build and application I get a duplicate name error and the application won't work. With 2009 SP1 I get Error 1003 broken VI when I have no broken VI's. Again Application won't work! With 2010 SP1 After the application is built for some reason lab view can no longer find the Excel sub VI's no matter how I place them in the build. And again application doesn't work. With all 3 versions the Vi's and over all programs work perfectly in the development environment. The application builder seems extremely flawed.
I would currently like assistance with 2009 SP1 problem the Error 1003 broken VI. I have reinstalled and rebooted my machine several times , tried including as much as possible in the build and still get the error about a broken VI. That works perfectly in the development environment. Please HELP?

What steps have you taken to try and resolve the error? This error can be caused by a variety of things. The link below details 8 potential solutions that may help resolve your error.

OES11 SP1 and Groupwise 2012 upgrade

Hi I'm am testing Groupwise 2012 with OES11 SP1 but can't seem to get the domain and Post office to start.
OES11 worked pre SP1 but.once I updated the server Groupwise doesn't want to start. Any ideas.

Hi thanks for your quick response. That is exactly my problem. When I delete the file GroupWise works. Looks like Novell are looking at fixing the issue.

OES11 SP1 Preperation - Problems

I am pretty coherent with oes2 SP2, I have many installes under my belt, and have 38 installs/server all connected into a unified tree...I am now doing my testing to go to OES11 SP1...and I am hacing some problems. My install goes fine, and I have OES11 SP1 running like a charm, with all required services. The problem occurs when I go to update it to the newest patches. The documentation says to use this meathod, which a religiously follow:
1. Make sure both OES11sp1 and SUSE11-SP2 are registered properly
2. zypper sl
3. zypper lr (make sure all update pools for oes11sp1 and suse2-sp2 are present)
3. zyper ref -s
4. zypper lu -r SLES11-SP2-Updates -r OES11-SP1-Updates
5. zypper up -t patch -r SLES11-SP2-Updates -r OES11-SP1-Updates
6. Repat Steps 4 and 5 until no patches exist
My problem comes when doing this, sure enough, it always chokes in two weird places:
- Zypper states that the iprint digest is NOT the correct or expected version
- It also chokes on: novell-xtier-base-3.1.10-11.52.1 install package..when it does finish it states that none of the users can be found....
(the xtier users)
which is pretty messed up, I can produce this on with every install...I get the SAME result everytime...
Any ideas...suggestions..This update meathoed is from the OES11sp1 installation guide....of this year (May 3, 2013)

I had the same digest error on a Firefox update about the same time as
your post only I was applying patches using YaST Online update.
A couple of days later, I followed the same procedure you did and all
updates were applied without any errors. I suspect there are some
issues in the back end.

Strange directory behaviour on NSS volume OES11 SP1

Hi All,
A couple of months ago we installed an OES11 SP1 server with an NSS volume (VOL1:) for all our installation files.
In the root of the VOL1: volume, we created a directory named _Install (yes, underscore)
In this directory we created a lot of subdirectories with installation files for several applications, to keep things short, let's say DIR-A, DIR-B, DIR-C DIR-D DIR-E etc.
So if we opened VOL1:, we just saw the _Install direcory in the root of VOL1:, and if we opened the _Install directory, we saw the DIR-A, DIR-B etc.
But today, we opened the VOL1:, saw, the _Install directory, but also the DIR-A, DIR-B, DIR-C etc. in the folowing manner:
_Install (normal)
_Install\DIR-A
_Install\DIR-B
_Install\DIR-C
etc.
If we doubleclick on one of the directories in the root of VOL1:, we actually open the directory below the _Install directory. It's just like we have a kind of symbolic links, or shortcut's to the real directories in our root.
Never seen this before.
Anybody a clue for this?

Having seen your other replies, you're opening VOL1: in Windows Explorer?
What do you see if you do a DIR from a Command Prompt window?

NCS on OES11 SP1 needs eDir 8.8.7 or later. With a replica?

We have 3 replicas running, one NW 6.5SP8 and two OES2SP3 (eDir 8.8 SP6). These 3 servers are 32bit.
I'm about to test NCS in the lab (we've not used it before) and see on page 50 (4.6.3) of "clus_admin_lx.pdf" that eDir 8.8.7 is required for managing cluster objects.
Is it okay if we keep our existing replicas and not yet add a replica to our OES11SP1 servers?
I interpret that requirement as saying that we need to manage cluster objects using iManager on one of our OES11 SP1 servers which run eDir 8.8.7. No replica required, correct?

That would be for the specific version of NCS you are using that would
also have a say in which version of OES it runs on that should have that
version of eDir running on it.

Well since your new OES11sp1 servers will be the only ones with the
newer eDir on them (unless you are upgrading eDir on the older boxes) it
would be a good thing to have a replica on at least one of these eDir
8.8.7 boxes in case there happen to be any 8.8.7 specific objects or
attributes in the newer eDir. I don't know of any, but that doesn't mean
the developers haven't come up with some.

Technically yes. But I would still like to have at least one 8.8.7
hosted replica of the partition(s) containing the new boxes.

OES11-SP1-Updates not listed

New to patching OES11. I upgraded the server from OES11 / SLES11 SP1
to OES 11 SP1 / SLES 11 SP2. I now want to apply all the latest
patches. zypper lr shows OES11-Updates with enabled:no and
refresh:yes. I don't see an OES11-SP1-Updates. I assume there should
be one. How do I add this?

GW2012 sp1 and OES 11 requirements ?

I going to be migrating the last of our post offices to OES11 in the next couple weeks. When I am done, everything will be on oes11 (not sp1) and gw8.3 I then plan to upgrade to 2012sp1 once everything is ok with the PO's on Linux.
My question is, do I need to upgrade to OES11 sp1 before doing the upgrade to 2012sp1 ?

Discussion About The Use Of Project Server 2013 Timesheet Custom Billing Categories (Post SP1 and April 2014 CU Install)

In support of a consulting company using timesheet custom billing categories to designate project time as billable onsite, billable offsite, and non-billable, I've encountered a series of issues which appear to be associated with the custom billing category
timesheet lines. These issues cause timesheet users to get frustrated, and contribute to misalignment between project actuals and timesheet actuals. We're in Single Entry Mode, no pre-population, SP1 and April 2014 CU Installed.
I'll enumerate the issues here and pose the question to the community as to whether others are experiencing any/all of these things, and if so, ask if any workarounds have been discovered. We're working with Microsoft to validate these independently,
but I am posing the questions to the community to gather additional information, and hopefully save some folks time in troubleshooting similar issues.
1.When time is entered on an assignment into timesheet lines of multiple billing categories, only time entered since the last save is getting saved and ultimately sent, on timesheet submit, to the approval center. Although the previously entered and
saved time appears in the application interface when the timesheet is re-opened, only data since last save is actually saving to the server or processing through the approval center. We believe this is the primary cause for timesheet and project actuals
being out of alignment.
2."_ Error Loading". When assignments are added, deleted, or changed after a timesheet has been created, standard timesheet lines are added, deleted or changed (i.e. synchronize) with the assignments. However, for custom billing category
timesheet lines, they do not change when the assignments change, and they aren’t removed if the assignment is removed. We believe this causes secondary errors, like the "_Error Loading" (and others as will be described below).
3.When a timesheet with time in a non-standard billing category is deleted and recreated, time is arbitrarily moved to standard timesheet lines for the same assignment. If the task assignment is subsequently removed, the timesheet line causes the timesheet
to break.
4."Error Communicating with Server". When trying to submit a timesheet, a pop-up box appears indicating that there is an error communicating with the server. This error appears because a timesheet line is no longer associated with a project.
In order to submit the timesheet the orphaned timesheet line must be identified and manually removed. One technique we found which helps to identify an orphaned timesheet line is to select a task and submit task progress. Repeat for all timesheet lines until
you get an error. The timesheet line(s) with the error can be manually removed from the timesheet, fixing the error.
5. Unable to Open Specific Timesheets without Error. There are certain scenarios when the "Remove Task" feature is used or an assignment is otherwise removed after creation of a timesheet with custom billing category lines, which causes orphaned
timesheet lines. These orphaned lines can cause issues when trying to open a timesheet. The issue can appear when timesheets are in progress in multiple periods. In the problematic scenario, time is entered and submitted in one period and subsequently
the task is 'removed' from another period before the PM processes the first approval request. Process governance can certainly help here, but improvement in the way synchronization occurs between project assignments and custom billing category timesheet lines
would be great. The error can often be resolved by re-adding the assignment for the problematic timesheet user to the project (which creates a new assignment), and then allows you to open the timesheet. Then time can be moved from the old timesheet
line to the new timesheet line, and the old one can be removed.
In 4 and 5, sometimes we can't open a timesheet without error, and other times we can open it but not submit it. We are not 100% clear on all the different causes for each. Each of these issues are suspected to be contributing the the misalignment of
data between project actuals and timesheets, which can be a real problem for external projects for which time collected through timesheets are being used to generate invoices.
Although these may seem like separate issues, warranting separate questions, I decided to post them together because they all seem to be related to synchronization of project assignments and timesheet lines for custom billing categories.
Any thoughts or suggestions from the community would be appreciated.

There are many causes for each of the errors mention. It would be best to put one issue to the forum at a time. For example, some of these issues occur then tasks are deleted from projects but a timesheet has been submitted. Depending
on the scenario, some of these issues have been fixed with the latest service pack.
Other issues are due to bad scheduling habits with the project managers and so first determining what they have done can help resolve some the issues.
_error Loading, is because something is NULL in the data and the jave is choking when it build the form. Again, these may be because of delete tasks, resources, projects or someone doing copying and pasting of rows.

PS. Train your PM to not COPY and PASTE rows in project schedules. It can be done, but it can create problems. There are over 500 fields and some have unique data and the copy paste creates havic.

Report Server URL field no longer visible in Dashboard Designer after applying SP1 and the October 2011 CU

Environment: 1 WFE on W2K8Ent x64 SP2 | 1 App Server on W2K8 Standard x64 SP2 | 1 Dedicated SQL Server 2008 R2
SharePoint 2010 Enterprise Edition
I recently applied SP1 and the October 2011 CU (Server updates, not foundation) on both the WFE and the App server and now I'm experiencing an issue with PerformancePoint Dashboard Designer in that when I want to deploy a new SSRS report, I no longer have
the ability to indicate the report server url under the report settings section because it's missing. I also do not have the ability to preview the report nor can I modify any of the settings like Zoom or Format as they're greyed out.
I've been researching for several days now and cannot find anything to remedy my issue. I have reviewed the upgrade logs on both the WFE and App server ... I ran the product config wizard after applying the SP and the update ... Sharepoint is configured
to use Windows Integrated Mode for the reporting services configuration via Central Admin.
I noticed that the web config for my app was updated and compared that against a backup of the old web config and I mainly see diffs in version references for reporting services, etc. (Ex. version 10 in the old, 11 in the new/updated config file).
Anyone else out there have this same issue? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Ultimately, I ended up installing SharePoint 2010 RTM on a separate system and then copied the folder with the PerformancePoint Dashboard Designer and put that on my PC at work. If you open a PerformancePoint report inside SharePoint, it
will default to the version of the update so be sure to open up the designer from wherever you store it on your PC. You'll know if it's the right one anyways if the URL is missing.
Also, once you've opened the RTM version, this will be the one that opens from the SharePoint shortcut via the Windows Start->All Programs->SharePoint Folder.

Exchange 2010 SP3 is the minimal version that should be installed on your Exchange Servers and just may contain the fixes you need to solve your issue.
Support for 2010 SP1 and SP2 has ended.

Tv @nywhere PRO and vista SP1

hello
my media center doesn't work with VISTA SP1 and a TV@nywhere pro ,if i come back to vista standart, it works again.
simply the media center starts, but when i select tv for source it remains in loading with the logo on screen.
think i need a patch , like for the PLUS version.

Boot Camp and Vista SP1

Hi. I have a Macbook Pro running Leopard and Vista. Is it safe to install Vista SP1 in Boot Camp 2.0? I haven't heard of too many issues, but just making sure it wasn't going to break anything. Thanks.

I'm having the exact issues as webcat, but I'm on an iMac 2.8 (early 2008) ATI video & 4GB using 10.5.4/5.
The BC util worked fine through partitioning (32GB) and Vista-SP1 (Ultimate) install, and the the OS-X CD-1 driver update - but once in Vista the stated symptoms showed up. I had initially ran Windows Update, but no Vista Ultimate updates were found. There was also an attempt to run some Apple software update but the pop-up went away before I had a chance to read it.
I have down loaded the BCUpdateVista32.exe and tried to run that (GUI) a few times, but it always fails with the "Boot Camp UI transform Update has stopped working" error - faulting module listed as ntdll.dll 6.0.6001.18000.
So, where to now is my question? I have seen some hope from the Cmd-Line 'softwareupdate' method, or I can run through the registry and 'purge/change' as deemed needed. The confounding thing is that the BC 2.1 update is a Windows EXE, so I need to work in that environment to get it installed, and I had presumed that with my updated 10.5.4/5 before I started, that BC would have been at the v2.1 level.
It seems I may yet need to burn a CD of drivers and and update the supplied OS-X drivers with the BC 2.1 items - is this possible?

LabVIEW 2009 and its sp1

I have the LabVIEW 2009 and LABVIEW 2009 SP1. Do I have to install 2009 first and then 2009 SP1? Or the 2009 SP1 also includes the full 2009. The reason I am asking is that I installed my 2009 on a computer, which took forever by the way. After the 2009 installation is completed, I installed the 2009 SP1, and it took pretty much the same amount of them, so I am wondering did I have to install both?

VPN Plug-in issue with BM 3.9 SP1 and iManager 2.7

We have a Netware v6.5 SP7 server with iManager 2.7 . We have just installed
BorderManager v3.9 SP1 and have configured in iManager and have running

Upon looking on the logger screen of the server the following is displayed
when VPN Services is selected in iManager: Task 514 ....
java.lang.incompatibleclasschangeerror
I reapplied the VPN schema extensions also uninstalled and installed the
VPN.NPM from BroderManager v3.9 SP1 plus restarted Tomcat - same error
occurs. Nothing shows up in the forums or the Novell site regarding this
error.
Does anyone know what might cause this and how it can be rectified. Until we
correct this we cannot configure VPN Services at all.

Thanks for the feedback ... much appreciated.
Yes the standalone version works fine and we can configure VPN. However that server version we would like to run still throws that error - not sure what I can do to fix that one.

I hate those sorts of errors.... Gonzalo told me java errors are easy to
figure out, but not for me. I usually find the clue in the first line or two,
while the rest of the error message is just a reaction to the first problem.
That said, what I THINK is happening is that you are either missing a needed
java bit, or are using an incorrect version. (When you track down the fix,
they usually end up being simple, like copying a file to some location, or a
subdirectory of files).
I would try downloading and setting up iManager 2.7 mobile on a PC, and
installing the BM 3.9sp1 iMan 2.7 plugins. Bypass any tomcat issues on the
server that way. If it still fails, then there may be some NDS issue, but
let's start with a different iManager installation.
