Off the shelf XY gantry system controlled with LabView

I am looking for an XY gantry system that I can easily control from labview.  I need a workspace of 11 by 16 inches with minimum clearance of 6 inches.  I was wondering if anyone has used a commercially available XY gantry or has any experience with an XY gantry.
I have found these two tables/brands that already have LabView drivers
http://www.zaber.com/products/product_detail.php?detail=G-LSQ450D450D&tab=Series%20Features#tabs
http://www.techno-isel.com/tic/Catdas/Gantry3.htm
And this one that looks promising too
http://www.animatics.com/en/products/table-top-robot/animatics/table-top-robot/2-axis-ttr-xy-configu...
Both Zaber and Techno Linear do not know of anyone in my area (Loveland, Colorado or Denver area) that I could go visit to see a table and I would like to see a working system before making a decision to buy a new system. I have not been able to talk to an engineer/technical sale representative at Animatics yet.
I am looking at using the XY gantry to position a sensor over a tray of parts to measure some properties of the parts.  The system I am designing does not need an high accuracy table (+- 0.005" is fine).  I would prefer to spend about $10K for a XY gantry table including any required controllers and hardware.
Thanks,
Brian

You have a good start, but 2 other things that you need to consider are your load and speeds required.  This will determine the mechanics of the gantry(ball screw, acme screw, belt, bearing type, etc.).  It will also determine if you need servos or you can get away with steppers.  You then need to figure what kind of motion you need.  Point to point moves can be accomplished with non-interpolated controllers, but any kind of coordinated motion will need a motion controller that can do true interpolated motion.

  • Off-the-shelf graphics cards... any luck with Lion?

I've been hearing online ramblings about Lion being compatible with some off-the-shelf graphics cards and Wikipedia says the Radeon 6XXX HD cards are compatible, but has anybody tried any cards that aren't clearly labeled as Mac compatible?  I know, I know, only the "Made for Mac" cards are supposed to work but I'm hearing too much online to be satisfied with that response at this point.
The GT 120 is just tired and I want the power of the 5870, but $400+ feels unfair.  I know it's only been out for a day, but I'm already itching to hear if anybody has tried anything new with Lion.

Tried a XFX HD 4670 Radeon. Once booted everything works fine. Here are my findings:
No boot up screen (therefore ability to change start up drive) expected based on other discussions
The card seems to think that I have a second monitor connected - and I was not able to find a way to make it think otherwise.
Overall the card was speedy and boosted my xbench and geekbench scores - but for now I am back to my GT120..

  • Off the shelf Flash chart with live update and slider?

Does anyone know of any good off the shelf Flash line chart
    that has
    1. Live AJAX-type update of data (without reloading entire

    2. Horizontal axis slider to be able to zoom in (like the

    I have been using

    Hi,
it was a bug, corrected in patch 4.0.1 (bug 9868860), see http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/apex/application-express/401-patch-166923.html#BABJCAFA.
It's why it don't works with APEX 4.0.0.

  • How to manage NOT off the shelf applications

How do I manage applications that are large and not "off the shelf"
For example I want to be able to look at my ERP and CRM systems and see which servers it is installed on, who supports it, when the contract is due etc. I will have a Development, QA and Production environment for each system.  Can this be accomplished
with system center?  Or is there a plug in that will provide this level of functionality.  In the past I have seen products that allow a parent to be set up that encapsulates all of the files for such an application.
    Thanks,
    Martin

If you want to report something, you first need to get that information somehow stored on to those servers so that ConfigMgr can read it. ConfigMgr isn't out of the box solution for everything, it always needs some configuration to get the desired results.
If those applications you mentioned populate some information into the windows registry or WMI, it can be collected with ConfigMgr. If not, you have to create a custom method to do so (script).
Here's a tool that can convert registry keys into WMI and after that the information can be collected with ConfigMgr:

Here's an example of populating WMI with custom information and collect it with ConfigMgr:

  • Can I buy an upgraded 13" MBA right off the shelf?

Hi, this will be my first time to buy a macbook that's why I'm not sure how it really goes. I am planning to buy a 13" MBA with Core i7 and 8GB RAM upgrades when I go to Hongkong this March. Can I buy it off the shelf? or do I need to order it first and have to wait for few days?
Hope to get our response. Thank you!

short answer - you will have to customise it online
they sometimes have popular upgraded models in stock but less common configurations are usually online only. with the model you said i would say theres a slim chance of getting one off the shelf. it would also depend on the store (e.g. the big one in new york probably has all models in stock whereas some small store in a shopping center in texas somewhere probably only has a couple)
one more thing - if you researched it already then just ignore this but i'm not sure if you can do the order & collect in hong kong or if its for US only, apple like to give the yanks lots of nice treatment then taunt the rest of us with them

  • Off-the-shelf products that can access DNG's XMP?

I'm sorry if this is off-topic.
I'm a photographer who uses DNG as my raw file format, and puts various things, (name, copyright statement, website, keywords, etc), into the DNGs, in the form of XMP. (Using Bridge + ACR). Then this XMP eventually gets into the PSDs, JPEGs, etc.
I do so on the assumption that in future I will be able to get off-the-shelf tools that will do something useful with this. Asset managers, etc. Or perhaps tools that will add to it - for example, adding GPS log data. Etc.
But this assumes that embedded XMP will be accepted as something that (non-Adobe) off-the-shelf tools will handle, perhaps routinely. I simply don't have a feel for whether that is the way the industry is going, or whether it will be concentrated in niche and specialised and bespoke tools. I would appreciate information of "routine" take-up.
    Thanks.
(PLEASE don't give me a sales-pitch for XMP! I'm beyond the need for that).

Thanks, johnbeardy. (And thanks for your recent suggestions, you know where, for classifying support for DNG, and even XMP).
I am building up a picture here that the key to a sustainable DNG-based workflow isn't simply to have lots of tools, (by that I include "full blown applications"), that support DNG in some form. It is to have tools that can also exploit, in & out, the XMP metadata within the DNGs.
The vision I am getting of the desirable future of raw shooting has DNG at the centre, as a container for the raw image, a lot of XMP metadata of various sorts, plus some other stuff. It isn't a product-centred vision, it is a DNG-containing-XMP centred vision.
I suspect that this will be a hard vision to explain to others! You, and AlaskaBob, and Peter Krogh, and some, (probably not all), people in Adobe, won't have a problem - in fact, I'm a bit late on the scene. But there are very many people who can't even see the strategic advantages of DNG, let alone DNG-containing-XMP!
    Very illuminating! Thanks.

  • Off the shelf portable-ish computer?

Hi there, I'm looking to purchase an off the shelf, somewhat portable computer to run flash media live encoder for some webcasts.  I will probably be using the black magic or osprey capture card.  I figured the i7 chips are enough power, but I cannot tell which of the computers have a direct line of access to the processor from the PCIe slot.  Perhaps I am asking for too much out of a small form factor computer and I'll need to get a desktop, but just wanted to see if anyone out there is using something like this.  I will need to buy two of these machines so that I have a backup.
Also if anyone has a laptop solution with a capture card that accepts HD-SDI, i'm all ears to that as well. Thanks for your help everyone.  I appreciate it.

To add to my comment above, I just tested the new Dell Precision M4600  (2.3GHz Sandybridge quad i7-2827QM) laptop with the Blackmagic Intensity Shuttle USB 3.0 device and seems to work great.  I tested with the Kulabyte encoder and Blackmagic 8.x drivers, but since FMLE also seems to support the Blackmagic drivers I suspect it will work as well.
The Intensity Shuttle is USB powered and has HDMI, Composite, and Component (HD) inputs.  Blackmagic also has the UltraStudio SDI which is a USB 3.0 SDI capture device and is USB powered and they have the UltraStudio Pro which is like the Intensity+SDI, but this one is line powered.
This laptop also has Firewire and an ExpressCard slot so you can use Firewire capture devices, PCI capture devices like Blackmagic in an expansion box, or USB 3.0 capture devices.

  • Lightroom OEM vs Off the Shelf

I purchased Lightroom 5 from an Amazon vender. The case is labeled, "FOR OEM BUNDLING ONLY" and "For bundling with computers, digital cameras, scanners, and inkjet printers only. Not to be sold separately." My question is: Does this disc contain the same full version of Lr5 that I would get if I bought it off the shelf at a computer or electronics store?

yes - the software is the same (and is complete). granted you won't get all the same "trimmings" (documentation, packaging, ... ) along with it.

  • Is there any off the shelf credit card enryption/decrption tool available ?

Since, Credit Card (CC) processing is very critical , my company is looking for options which are available in the market -ready to use !!!
Is there any off the shelf credit card enryption/decrption tool available ?

    What is "credit card encryption/decryption"?
    1) Are you willing to encrypt and decrypt credit card numbers in a safe way, to store them in a database?
    - JCE and crypto
    2) Are you willing to communicate with the credit card companies to perform credit card transactions in a safe way?
    - Contact them; there are third-party companies that sell solutions for communicating with Visa, Mastercard etc; the credit card company can tell you what company they recommend
    3) Are you trying to validate the credit card numbers (no online processing needed, just validate the card numbers in Javascript)
    - search for Luhn's algorithm

  • How do you turn off the auto select behavior when working with shape layers?

How do you turn off the auto select behavior when working with shape layers?
I am using either of the path selection tools to select only some of the paths on the layer. I have the proper layer targeted. I have the selection too auto select option turned off.
If another layer has a path in that area, that layer becomes auto targeted and I get the wrong path. Turning off the layer is the only way to avoid this but then I have to  turn on the layer back on between making my selection and transforming to use the other layer as guide. Is there any way to stop this auto select? Locking the other layer does not stop the auto select, just prevents editing.

As far as i know the move tool options don't have any effect on the path selection tools.
You might try clicking on one of the path points or on the path itself with one of path selection tools and if you want to select multiple points
you can shift click with the Direct Selection Tool or Alt click to select the entire path.

  • How do i get Windows 2000 off the VPC 5 disc to install with VP 7

VPC 5 With windows 2000 upgraded to VPC 6 ran great. But hey I thought lets upgrade so I bought VPC 7 Stand-alone, installed XP PRO and it is soooooo
Sloooow. I want to get Windows 2000 off the VPC 5 disc to install on VPC 7 to see if there is a difference. Yeah we got 1.5 gigs of Ram and a Dual processor
Machine. Maybe something else is going on but I cant figure what. So How do I get Windows 2000 off that VPC 5 disc???

Yep tried that. No go but thanks.
Some of the previous versions of the VPC CDs
(unfortunately, I can't remember which) were hybrids
and doubled as not only the VPC for Mac installer CD
but also the Windows OS installer CD. You might try
creating a new virtual PC and then when asked for a
Windows installer disk, insert and capture your VPC 5
disk. I have no idea if this will work for you.
Later versions of VPC came with the Windows OS
pre-installed on VPC disk images and not with a
Windows installer. If your version has a disk image,
copy it from your version 5.0 CD and try opening that
in VPC 7.0. You should see a conversion process.
    Hope this helps! bill
