Office 2010 Ribbon issues w/ Adobe 9.4.0 & Win 7 64-bit

I noticed that Adobe has issues with getting the ribbon to show in Office 2010. I also saw that a footnote stated that Adobe is suppose to be working on this, but have they been? I am about ready to update my PCs to Win 7 soon and would like to know if anyone has heard if this will be fixed soon or if someone has a work around.
Basically, I am running Win 7 PRO 64-bit with Adobe Acrobat 9.4.0 PRO and Office 2010 32-bit. There is supposely a issue with the PDF Convert ribbon not showing and its 100% true.
For those of you suggesting I go back to Win 7 32-bit, can't I need more then 3.5 GB of RAM on my machine and/or going to Office 2010 64-bit, can't either, have older Databases that cannot be accessed in 64-bit. So, those work arounds a null. I have also tried followin the steps that Adobe has suggested, like verifiy its there, its not disabled, repairing Adobe and re-installing Adobe, but nothing worked. Oh also tried registering the DLL.
Any thoughts or other work around totry??
Thanks
Derrick

Bernd replied that "Acrobat X" will work... that means Acrobat 10
Of course we mere users have no idea WHEN Acrobat 10 will be released

  • Acrobat 9.3 And Office 2010 PDFMaker Issue

    Hello:
    From the Adobe knowledge base I found that the Acrobat Menu Ribbon Tab for PDFMaker which is normally visible from within Word, Excel or PowerPoint does not appear in Office 2010.  This was to be fixed in Acrobat X, but since I haven't acquired it yet, I am using the suggested workarounds.  However, the workarounds don't let you "fine tune" the parameters you can set in PDFMaker.  Is there a way to still access the settings in PDFMaker to make adjustments such as which headings and titles create bookmarks, or am I limited to the smaller set of options in the regular Acrobat Options?

    I appreciate your comments Dave.
    The Australian academic year is late February to early December and so we rebuild our software image at this time each year. Our purchase of our volume licence for CS5 is less than 2 weeks old so this is not old software. When asked about a CS5 dot point release with Acrobat X we were told this was not happening and to look to CS6 at the end of 2011 for Acrobat X to be included.
    Please remember that most of our clients are acquiring Acrobat as part of a Creative Suite and so do not have Acrobat X either (we regularly poll our students to see the penetration of new software releases) and are not looking to spend extra dollars on top of their suite purchase. We considered the separate upgrade path, but that would put us out of synch with the majority of our client base.
    We are not seeking a free upgrade here, only the patch that Adobe technical support has told me is coming for Acrobat 9 (as recently as 14th Dec) – just don’t have any idea of the timeline.

  • Windows 7 and Office 2010 activation issues

    hey everyone
    since a few days we facing really strange issue here within our school. We are running windows 7 machines and office 2010 and all our different machine types is it VDI VMs, physical laptops, desktop computer or provisioning machines (Citrix PVS) are facing
    issues with the licensing.
    Sometimes Windows 7 Key is not installed anymore, sometime it is just not activated same for office. So the KMS is installed with the KMS host keys since years and KMS service is running. Also the DNS Output points to the server
    C:\Users\.........>nslookup -type=srv _vlmcs._tcp
    Server:  DC....
    Address:  192.168.X.Y
    _vlmcs._tcp.Domain   SRV service location:
              priority       = 0
              weight         = 0
              port           = 1688
              svr hostname   = KMSHost
    KMSHost.domain  internet address = 192.168.X.Z
    Also when i manually force the machines to update against KMS with VAMT or CLI it is working. What could cause that issues?
    Time issues?
    Scripts?
    Thanks for any clue and advice

    Hi Duke,
    "since a few days we facing really strange issue here within our school"
    Have you made any modifications to the KMS server or the whole environment ?Will the issue persist or occur randomly ?Will it occur on the specific ones or all the machines ?
    There are several specific log recorded in the event viewer when the KMS try to activate the machines .We can try to check the event logs both from the client and the KMS server to troubleshoot this issue .Please also check the Windows logs\Applications
    ,system logs for useful information to troubleshoot this issue .

  • Office 2010 removal issues & SCCM

    We are upgrading from Office 2010 to Office 365, and am using SCCM 2012 r2 to automate the install.  So Office 365 will not remove the previous version of Office, so I have imported the following into SCCM to remove it.
    setup.exe /uninstall ProPlus /config ".\ProPlus.WW\SilentUninstall.xml"
    With the following being the SilentUninstall.xml File.
    <Configuration Product="ProPlus">
    <Display Level="none" CompletionNotice="no" SuppressModal="yes" AcceptEula="yes" />
    <Setting Id="SETUP_REBOOT" Value="NEVER" />
    </Configuration>
    And the xml and command line work, however I am currently testing what would happen if the install were to kick off if the user still has any of the office programs open.  Having any of the Office applications open will not stop the install, however nor
    will it forcefully close any of the applications.  It keeps the apps open, but the applications, become sluggish and unusable, which I fear my confuse some of my users.  SCCM natively cannot prevent the install if these applications are open, nor
    can it force them closed.  Is there anything I can add to the command line or the XML File that would force close any of the open applications?

    Hi,
    Just tested it, having any Office applications open will not block the uninstall action. User can still edit and save their documents with current Office before they close it.
    To my knowledge, we don't have such an element in the
    config.xml file which will force shut down any running applications.
    Maybe you can add some scripts to SCCM, and trigger it prior to the uninstall action to shut down any runing Office applications. I'm personally not familiar with this, if you need help on this, please try to post in our
    Script Center forum.

  • Advise needed - MS Office 2010 & Sync Issues

    My iPad 2 continues to refuse to sync contacts and calendars (also my iPhone!) with Office/Outlook
    Apple Support have been unable help.
    I am now considering moving to Windows 7 64-bit.  In addition I am looking to move from Office 2003 to 2010.  ie a total upgrade in the hope that this resolves the iPad/iPhone sync issues!
    Looking around it seems that I should install iTunes 64-bit version to match the Windows 7 64-bit and only put the full version of Office 2010 32-bit to ensure successful sync?  Or should put 32-bit iTunes with 32-bit Office?
    Does this match your experiences?
    Any suggestions on succesful combinations?
    Any advise would be much appreciated - Thanks.

    Hi,
    To overcome this possible issue, users can install ms office compatibility pack via following link. With this pack installed you are able to open office documents from 2007 and higher in lower versions.

  • Lync 2013/Office 2010 authentication issues

    Hi everyone,
    I am fairly new to the OCS/Lync environment and have a question about one of our users.
    He is running Win 7 Ent (x64) and has Office 2010 and Lync 2013 installed (both x86).  It appears that at the most random times, Lync will prompt him to enter his username and password in order for Lync to integrate his Outlook information.
    I have entered his username as domain\username and the correct password and this corrects the issue, but only for a few minutes.  Once Lync prompts him again, almost simultaneously, he gets the Outlook box asking him to verify his credentials.
    When we enter his credentials in the Outlook box, it does not take and the box persistently pops up (of course, this ends up locking out his account but once we unlock it the cycle continues.  I have tried turning outlook cached mode on and off and I
    cannot seem to figure out why his credentials are not being accepted.
    I'm not asking for anyone to solve the issue directly; rather, if you have any idea where I can start to read and learn about how these products integrate and what might cause this issue, I'd be very appreciative.  Of course a couple of places to start
    troubleshooting would be appreciated and respected as well :)
    Thanks everyone!
    PS - I posted to Lync 2010 forum because there was not one for Lync 2013.

    I have the same issue, except this variable.
    When adding Lync 2013 to my workstation and another coworkers workstation, neither of us were able to connect to the mail server with Outlook. The login box would appear, but not authenticate. I tried removing my credentials for outlook under the User/Groups
    area, but to no avail. The next step was to remove my mail account and re-setup. Outlook will now refuse to take any settings for this email account. Email is hosted in Office 365 solely. The only two systems affected are those with Lync 2013 installed.
    Next step is to remove all traces of Office 2010 and 2013. If this does not resolve the issue, what background authentication piece did I overlook? Were there any authorization changes ordifferences between
    2010 and 2013 when it comes to AD/Office 365 integration?
    Thanks,
    Charles
    EDIT: I removed all traces of Office 2010 as well as registry entries, and reinstalled. Auto discover over AD still isn't working, and now Outlook keeps popping up a dialog box asking for my username and password for the email account.
    Help.

  • Office 2010 Activation Issue

    I bought the 2010 Prof. version and installed it on my desktop, no issues, it works fine.   I also installed it on my laptop and it worked fine until Windows 7 crashed and had to be re-installed.   That removed the Office 2010 along
    with other software.  When I reinstalled the Office 2010 on my laptop I get the usual red-band along the top of Excel for example saying that the product must be activated.  I did this but no luck.  I tried all of the posted fixes, go to uninstall,
    click change and re-enter the Product Key but no luck.  It still says it must be registered but when I try I get the message to try again later.   It also says that it will keep trying to activate.  I can't take the chance that I will be without
    the software when I travel.  What can I do to get around this issue?   The product was purchased from Amazon.
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi fishoil,
    Do you activate the two PCs with the same product key?
    You can activate Office 2010 via phone. The phone activation process will provide you with the appropriate phone number to call. You need to explain
    to the customer service center that you activate the two PCs with the same key.You can find your local custom support number on the link below.

    If there is anything that I can do for you regarding this issue, feel free to post back.

  • Office 2010 : PDF Maker Pane is missing in ribbon

    Hi,
    After upgrading from MICROSOFT Office 2007 to 2010, I notice that PDF Maker is missing in Office Ribbon.
    I tried Repairing & Reinstalling ADOBE Acrobat 9.0 (+ Update to 9.3.2) but still the same problem.
    Another try :
    Fresh install of Windows XP SP3 + Office 2010 Pro + Acrobat 9.0 + Acrobat Update to 9.2.0 + Acrobat Update to 9.3.2
    Same Problem
    COM Addin is active but PDF Maker Pane is missing in Office 2010 Ribbon.
    I tried soluce in article 330984 (kb) but without success.
    ... so is Acrobat PDF Maker Addin is compatible with Office 2010 Pro (Word, Excel, ...) ?
    Is there a fix or should I wait next patch from ADOBE ?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    @Pramod Sarma
    I've updated my Acrobat to 9.3.4, rebooted my system, I see the Add-in under Options> Add-ins>  Active Application Add-ins and can choose it under COM Add-Ins.  BUT  it does NOT show up in the Menu Bar of the Program Word, Excel, etc.  No Tab, No nothing.  Its still doesn't work.
    Does anyone have a trick to reactivate it somehow?
    AND by the way,  YOU CAN select Save-As and Select PDF and it works JUST fine!  I just did it.
    Also, as fix for all of you that say we are whining about not having the PDF maker "QUICK" links in the menu-bar, YES you can click File>Print and choose PDF to print to as well.
    It would just be nice to have a ONE-CLICK option back.
    Thanks!
    SO, to RECAP... you can do the Two or Three Click options of PRINT and choose PDF or you can do SAVE-AS and choose PDF.... BUT again it would be nice to have a working ONE Click option.  Thank you again

  • Unable to use Adobe 9 Pro with Office 2010

    The year is 2012 and Adobe still has not resolved issues with beinga able to use the features I paid them for. Specifically the ability to retain metadata, hyperlink the TOC and maintain other links when converting an Office 2010 Profesional document to Adobe.  When will Adobe make good? I'm in the software industry and I'm not buying that it's taking them TWO years to figure out how to support 64-bit.  Give me a break Adobe.  Meanwhile, if anyone has some ideas on how I convert my 2010 MS word documents to Adobe and maintain my links, I'd really appreciate your help.

    Microsoft Office 2010 is compatible with Acrobat X (with 64-bit support included from version 10.1). Acrobat 9 is now a legacy product, so there will be no major additions to features.

  • Need assistance creating applications with superseedence to uninstall Office 2010, Lync 2010 and then install Office 365 click to run 2013

    We are getting ready in a few months to uninstall our locally installed Office 2010 and head to the cloud with Office 365 2013. I have created applications to uninstall Office 2010 and Lync 2010 and then added them to the supersedence tab for Office 365
    office 2013 click to run with appv5.
    When deploying the office 365 2013 application it does not uninstall office 2010 or lync 2010 with the supersedence.  I am able to manually uninstall Office 2010 and Lync 2010 with the command lines I am using in the applications.
    The application uninstall for Office 2010 is:
    The application uninstall is an exe so I created an application, created a deployment type with the location of our Office 2010 admin point, installation program and uninstall program are set with the same line as I have tried to deploy it separately and
    also as a supersedence in the Office 365 application setup.exe /uninstall ProPlus /config "\\sccmserver\share\Office2010\ProPlus.ww\silentuninstallconfig.xml.  The silentuninstallconfig.xml was created from the original config.xml file and edited
    to these settings:<Configuration Product="ProPlus">
     <Display Level="none" CompletionNotice="NO" SuppressModal="yes" AcceptEula="yes" />
     <Setting Id="Reboot" Value="Never" />
     <Setting Id="SETUP_REBOOT" Value="NEVER" />
     <OptionState Id="ProductFiles" State="Local" Children="force" />
     </Configuration>
    The detection method is the folder path to see that office 14 exists.  When I deploy this the machines finish with success showing this exists, but does not uninstall Office 2010.
    running the command line manually mapped to this location on a machine uninstalls office 2010 without issue.
    Lync 2010 uninstall:
    Lync is an exe so I am using the LyncSetup.exe /silent /uninstall.  The application is in the supersedence tab for Office 365 2013. This never installs.  If I create a softare distribution and deploy it on its own it uninstalls without issue.
    We are going to use Lync 2013 with our office 365 2013 installation so we need to uninstall this.  The detection method for lync is file system folder and the Microsoft lync folder for detection.
    MS Office 15 (Office 365) was created with the click to run tool.  I can install this with the application I created using the appv5 package created with the click to run tool.  The issue is we need Office 2010 and Lync 2010 uninstalled first.
    Having both versions of Office installed in test has caused issues where Office 15 365 will not list in add and remove programs and cannot be uninstalled even with the fix it article to remove office 2013.
    I have looked at many articles and so far it is not working for us.  Any help appreciated to get us to the cloud.
    Thanks,
    Brit

    The applications I have for uninstall of office 2010 and Lync 2010 for some reason do not uninstall. Manually testing the command lines they do.  The detection method seems to be hanging things up.  On the lync uninstall detection method I have
    the setting type of file system, type folder, path c:\program files\ folder name Microsoft Lync.
    I highly recommend using something other than a file/folder "exists" detection method. Installers are constantly leaving things behind due to environmental inconsistencies. It may leave files/folders behind with a schedule to delete files on next reboot.
    These things are unpredictable and very hard to use. I just use the "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall" Registry location. There you can actually key off the "Product Version" DWORD as well which gives you an even more accurate method
    to determine if the application you are trying to deploy (or expect to exist) is truly there. This, of course, being if you are not using an MSI. If you have MSI technology ALWAYS use the product code unless the person writing the MSI chooses to use the same
    product code for every version release of their product. In which case, Use the registry method.
    As far as getting the supersedence and everything working. You need to start from the basics. Create Applications for all of the apps you want to remove. Make sure they install and uninstall properly (seems like overkill but it isn't that hard). Once you
    have working install/uninstall applications then you can easily apply supersedence to your new applications with a setting of Uninstall on the superseded apps you should have no problem getting rid of them. I have done this for numerous things.
    For example, I did this with Cisco Jabber to replace older versions of jabber, older versions of cisco unified personal communicator and lync and OSC. All of these replaced versions had to have an Application but once it was in it took two seconds to apply
    all the supersedence rules and now I know when I push that software out no matter version is running on any machine it will pull all the old apps off and put the new one on.

  • Office 2010 and Office 2007 on same machine

    I am currently running the following:
    Xcelsius Engage 2008, service pack 4
    Windows 7, 64 bit
    Office 2007 Ultimate, 32 bit
    Everything working well
    I purchased a version of Office 2010 Home and Student - it has both 32 and 64 bit versions.  My plan was to keep Excel 2007 on my machine so that Xcelsius would still work.  Then,  I loaded the 64 bit version of 2010. It seemed to work for a session, Xcelsius seemed to pull on the Excel 2007.  Then I restarted my machine and Xcelsius could not launch excel.  It seemed to occur right after I tried to import an xls that had been created in Excel 2010.
    My question is: is it possible to successfully run Xcelsius with Office 2010 Home Student 64 bit?  Should my strategy of keeping Excel 2007 have worked? Or should I accept 32-bit is the reality for the next few years?
    Also, I see that Xcelsius does not support the Home and Student version of Office.  Why is that?  Isn't excel, powerpoint, word, the same regardless of the version?

    Hi,
    As soon as you restart your system office version is updated to latest version of office that you have installed(64 bit)

  • Office 2010 update error Code 80070663 on Window 8.1: Roiscan VB Script states an error on 1a1f08c.msp

    Hi, trying to get 7 updates onto MS Office 2010, getting a repeated 80070663 error. Running Win 8.1. Executed Robust Inventory Scan and got the following:
    Review Items
    ============
    Error:                       OpenDatabase failed to open .msp file C:\WINDOWS\Installer\1a1f08c.msp
    Any idea what next move should be? Tried for a reinstall, but but downloader runs for a while then says an error has been found and it shuts down...

    Jake, did you ever find a solution to your problem? I'm afraid I can't help if you didn't, but I'm experiencing the same problem.
    I also run Vista and had no problems until recently when I had an installation failure on 12th April 2014 for the same two updates:
    Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update (KB959209) x86 - (Installation status: Failed. Error details: Code 80070663)
    Security Update for Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package (KB2538243) - (Installation status: Failed. Error details: Code 64C)
    I don't know whether it's these updates that caused the problem or an earlier update that has stopped these updates been installed.  The PC is generally working but Word & Excel don't load any more. I get a 'Preparing to install' popup follwed by
    the message: 'This update package could not be opened. Verify that the update package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer update package.'
    If you did find a solution or any one else knows of one then I'd be very grateful.

  • 'CRT not initialized' error after installing MS Office 2010

    Hi,
    I encountered 'CRT not initialized error' after installing MS Office 2010. I think that with previous version of CVI there were no problems. But, with Labwindows/CVI 2012 error has outbroken. The details are as follows.
    - OS : windows 7 Enterprise (32bit)
    - Labwindows/CVI (v12.0.0 (422))
    - MS Office 2010 (word, powerpoint, excel)
    #1. clean install windows 7 (32 bit)
    #2. install Labwindows/CVI v12.0.0 and device drivers (DAQ, Motion)
    #3. compile and run attached test program : SUCCESS
    #4. online update windows 7 (service pack, explorer 9, and etc)
    #5. compile and run attached test program : SUCCESS
    #6. install MS Office 2010
    #7. compile and run attached test program : 'CRT error'
    #8. uninstall MS Office 2010
    #9. compile and run attached test program : SUCCESS
    I think there are some conflicts between office 2010 and labwindows v12.0.0. How can I solve this problem?
    Thank you in advance.

    More specifically, I decided that some parts of MS Office files and features of NI's motion library conflicts. Because in the attacted sample program, if I exclude NI-Motion functions then the program excutes nicely. But if I include NI-Motion fucntion, for example flex_select_signal, then the 'CRT not initialized' error occurs.
    To solve this problem I tried step by step installation check for MS Office 2010. During each step I included more optional features in MS Office and after each installation I compiled and executed my sample program. At finally, I found that the addtional part of MS Office 2010, if I install Office Sharing Function>Microsoft IME(Korean), then the 'CRT not initialized' error occurs.
    Temporarly, I solved the problem with NOT installing 'Office Sharing Function>Microsoft IME(Korean)' optional feature in the MS Office 2010.
    Could you tell me why this problem occur?

  • PDF Maker Issue - can't find add-in in adobe folder, doesn't work in MS Office 2010.

    Hi Guys,
    Since last few years I've been using Adobe Acrobat Reader (IX, X, XI) on my Sony Vaio.
    It was integrated with MS Office 2010 and worked perfect with Outlook, Word, and Excel.
    Last week I had serious isues with my notebook and had to do a clean instalation of Windows 7 64-bit.
    I installed all software back (Eset Endpoint Antivirus 5, MS Office 2010 32-bit, etc.) and at the end, yesterday
    I finally installed Adobe Acrobat Reader XI (free). Then I noticed with dissapointment that there is no Adobe ribbon.
    I did everything mentioned here PDFMaker unavailable | Office 2007, Office 2010 | Acrobat 9, Acrobat X, Acrobat XI
    including instalation in a simplified mode, but it doesn't work for me.
    The path mentioned in above link doesn't exist in my computer "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat [9.0 or 10.0]\PDFMaker\Office".
    I can find only: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader"   - a path to AR app. There is no PDFMaker folder at all.
    And another path: "C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Acrobat\11.0\Replicate" - Replicate is the only folder under "11.0".
    Do You have any idea what I could do to instal PDFMaker module , and use it with MS Office 2010?
    Sorry for my poor English.
    I'll be very gratefull for help.

    If you have all of those Adobe Reader products on your system, you are asking for problems. Adobe states one should not have more than one copy of an application on their system.
    Reader has no plug-in for MS Office of any version.
    Only Acrobat has a plug-in for MS Office. Again Adobe does not approve of more than one copy of Acrobat on a system. And if you dare to have Reader on the same system then Acrobat and Reader should be at the same major version.

  • Cannot Combine Word documents Adobe X. Office 2010

    Hi All,
    Wondering if anyone has run into this issue before.  We are running Adobe X on Server 2003 SP2 (Citrix envionrment).  We have just upgraded to Office 2010 and Adobe X (latest Patch).  The primary reason for the upgrade is becuase the Combine Files fuction with Office 2010 and Adobe 9.x was not supported.  After upgrading, any attempt to combine word files fails.  Combining PDF files work perfectly fine.  I'm able to open Word and using the Adobe Ribbon, convert Word documents to PDFs fine as well.  I can also print to the PDF printer and I am still able to successfully convert to PDFs.  When we attempt to combin any Word files (.docx), each file errors out (gets skipped) and at the end we receive an error (No PDF File was created becuase Acrobat encountered an unidentified errors).  I'm running this as an administrator so permissions shouldn't be an issue.  I've changed the settings on the PDF printer and that hasn't helped (print directly to printer and change the port to a file location).
    In addtion to the combine files not working, right clicking a word doc and Converting to a PDF fails too.  See the screen shot below.  IT seems as if the PDF maker is erroring out.  I can see Word open in the task manager.  Once the converstion fails, it does not close the Word process in Task Manager.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Have you tried it on a base machine, not a server (hope you have the additional license from Adobe for the server use, since that is a violation of the license for an individual package installation)? There are often problems when doing these things over a network.
