Officejet Pro 8600 e. Problem scanning from Scan and Capture App in Win 8.1

Officejet Pro 8600 e.  New.
Installed on HP Envy 23 Touch. Running Windows 8.1.
Wireless set up. Prints fine.  Problem is scanning from the HP Scan and Capture Software App in Win 8.1
Using Scan and Capture App I can scan photos fine.  They come out clear.  Scanning documents in GRAY has multiple bands/lines in gray over the entire page running vertically.  Scanning documents in COLOR are fine.
Also, if I scan from the printer directly using the touch screen on the printer, the scan output is fine.
I did the Scan utilty to discover any errors and it did not show any.  I think it's a software error.  I am going to uninstall the HP Scan App and then reinstall.  So, I will do the uninstall/reinstall and report back.
Also, I would like to know if there is a desktop program for scanning?  I would prefer to use that instead of the Modern HP Scan and Capture App.
Thanks....

Hi artrum,
I understand you've been experiencing issues scanning from your Officejet 8600 using the Windows Scan and Capture program. I will certainly do my best to help you with this!
From what you've explained, I believe you're correct, it does seem like it's an issue just with the Windows Scan and Capture program and as you've been able to scan from the front panel of the printer you definitely have the HP software installed. What I'd like to do is have you use the HP Scan software, where you should no longer run into issues.
To access the HP Scan software and be able to access it easily from your desktop I'd like you to follow the steps below:
1. Go to your start screen and just start typing File Explorer. You should be able to then open it to access your computer's files.
2. Then open Local Disk (C: ), followed by Program Files (x86), followed by HP, then HP Officejet Pro 8600, followed finally by bin.
3. In the bin folder you should see HPScan. You will want to right click on HPScan and go to Send To and then select Desktop.
Now you should see HP Scan on your desktop and be able to open it and scan through that application.
Hope this helps, have a great day!

  • [win7 64bit ultimate]: HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus prints won't scan

Guys I have spent 2 days on reading and trying all of the suggestions in previous posts. My HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus JUST won't scan. When I click to scan a Document or Photo the HP Scan pops up saying: The HP Officejet Pro 8600 was not found.
When I do unistall the HP basic software and then install again it works fine. However when pc restarts problem is still there.
I have completely uninstalled my avast Antivirus and also configured the windows firewall. No luck till now.
Tried the HP Print and Scan Doctor: It appears that the problem is in the device manager. Edited: Just looked at the device manager and spotted this >
If I reinstall it will work only till my next restart.
    Any suggestions?

    @N3CR4, welcome to the forums
I read about how you cannot scan and have been troubleshooting quite a bit lately, to no avail.
I have some questions and some ideas for you. If you've tried the steps, just let me know the results. Here are my ideas for you.
Have you uninstalled the printer by right clicking on them in the Device Manager, as shown in your screen shot, then restarted your PC and reinstalled?
Have you tried creating another User Account with Admin privileges and tried installing?
Try a clean boot, and restart the PC and ensure your Firewalls and Anti-Virus scanners are disabled and try running the installation.
Will the printer install successfully on another PC?
Remove the printer by using the Microsoft Fix it tool, restart the PC and try installing again.
Try unregistering and re-registering the Microsoft Windows Installer service:
    1. Click the Start menu and type " cmd " in the search field and press enter.
    2. Type in " msiexec /unregister " and then press enter.
    3. Type in " msiexec /regserver " and then press enter.
    4. Restart your PC and try the installation.
Run the SFC scan to repair any corupt files. (Run the scan 3 times if there is an issue in the results) then try installing the printer again.
Using System File Checker to Restore System Files
I really hope the steps help, let me know the outcome

  • How do i get the hp officejet pro 8600 premium to print from my ipad2 using airprint?

how do i get the hp officejet pro 8600 premium to print from my ipad2 using airprint? The iPad does not see the printer.

    Hi RiverBirch,
What brand and model is your router?
First, connect your printer to your router.
    1. From printer front panel, press Wireless>Wireless Settings>Wireless Setup Wizard and follow the onscreen instructions to successfully connect your printer with an IP address.
Secondly, connect your iPad to the same router.
    1. Connect your iPad to the Internet and download the free HP ePrint Home & Biz app from the apps store.
    2. Connect your iPad to the same network as the printer. Settings>Network.
    3. Use the new HP Home & Biz app to print and scan photos or docs from your iPad!
Alternatively, you can also perform Airprint on the iPad thru the wireless network from the Photos menu in your iPad.

  • My HP Officejet Pro 8600 can't print from my MacBook Air

    Hi,
My HP Officejet Pro 8600 can't print from my MacBook Air. It keeps on showing "The printer is not connected", but the screen on the printer shows connected. I often reset the printer 'EVERY TIME" I want to use it. I also tried to turn off my laptop and printer several times before printing. If I'm lucky enough, it will work maybe for one or two prints. If no luck then I'll have to reset everything again. Sometimes I reset the printer, the printer will not show on my selection.

    Hello boojoo1tw,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you're unable to print most times with your Officejet 8600. How is this printer connected? Wireless or USB? What is your operating system on your Mac computer? Click here to find out.
If your printer is wireless, then I would recommend assigning a "Static IP Address" by following this HP document on Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection.
Please post your results, as I will be looking forward to hearing from you.

  • Officejet Pro 8600 Plus prints part of page and quits

My brahd-new Officejet Pro 8600 Plus prints part of page and quits.  The manual said to clean the print heads and align the printer.  I did both of those.  It made the problem worse.   I'm printing on photo paper - HP Premium Plus.  It happens about 1/2 the time.

    Hi beantowner2,
I would like to begin with a few questions,
Does this happen when you copy a photo, or only when you print form the computer?
Do you have the printer connected directly to a wall outlet or a surge protector?
What operating system and version is on the computer?
Is the printer connected to the computer with a USB cable or wirelessly?
If you have a WIndows operating system please download and install the latest firmware version for the printer. HP Officejet Pro 8600 N911g_n Firmware.
If you are using a surge protector, I suggest disconnecting and connecting the power directly to a wall outlet.
Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector
In this document you will see,
    ISSUE:
Problems or issues may arise when an HP LaserJet series printer is connected to an uninterruptible power supply (UPS), a power strip, or a surge protector
This is not limited to Laserjet printers.
I look forward to hearing back from you.

  • HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 Premium - Unable to Enable Scan to Email

I was out the country for the past two weeks, and just returned to find that I can no longer scan to email (or the computer) from the printer. I have verified the email settings many times over, yet I continue to receive the message that "Connection failed -- Click "OK" to go back."
This worked just fine before I left on my trip, but now I can't get anything to scan. I have no issues printing over our network.
Any recommendations? Have been using an email account on our gmail for business account, but also tried switching to my personal .mac account.. Same results on both :/

    Hey there
Try connecting to the network again by running the wireless setup wizard:
    On the printer display:
Select the right arrow, select Setup, Network, Wireless Setup Wizard
The printer will search for networks in your area, select yours
Input your network/router (WEP/WPA) password and the printer will tell you when it's connected
Now try and run the firmware update again once the printer is connected to the network.
Your other option for updating firmware is via USB connection to your computer if you are running a Windows OS: HP Officejet Pro 8600 N911g_n Firmware
    I hope that helps!
    Enjoy your weekend

  • Hp officejet pro 8600 plus .. won't scan to e-mail

    HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One Printer - N911g; Windows 8
Why am I now getting this error message when attempting to scan to email "Username or password is incorrect. Make sure both user account and password are valid." There were no changes in passwords so not sure what needs to be done to correct the issue. I am now also having problems with faxing.
    Please HELP

    Hi HelpMsP,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having an issue with the user name and password when attempting to scan to your email.
I suggest Resettling the Network Defaults on the printer.  To do so, On the main display of the printer, please use the right arrow key and go to the Setup Menu.  Please scroll down to and select Network settings.  Please go to the last menu in the list and select Restore Network Defaults.
This will reset the user name and password and you can then re-enter your information.
If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you. If you are calling within North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions, click here: click here.

  • Officejet pro 8600 Will no print or scan?!?!? HELP!

ok so it worked fine at one point now my officejet pro 8600 has stopped scanning to my computer i have a windows 7 and it has stopped printing from my coputer now. please help?? i can not get no work done!!

Hi Katie_Ann, sorry to hear that you are having issue with scanning and printing. I do have a document and a very valuable tip that I would like to share with you. First thing I would like try is, if you have the printer power cable connected to a Power Bar/Strip, please remove it and plug the power cable directly to a wall outlet. HP printers already have a built in surge protector and if you have it connected to a Bar/Strip, the printer will NOT get all the power it needs to function properly and this will cause communication issues as well as false errors on the printer screen. Here is the document that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.  Once you have the Power cable connected to the wall outlet, if you still have issues with printing and scanning, please download the HP Print and Scan Doctor. This tool will do a scan of your computer and printer and whatever the issue, the Print and Scan Doctor will fix it automatically for you.
If you have any other questions, please feel free to write back.
    Thank you.

  • Officejet Pro 8600 Plus. No automatic scan menu when documents loaded into the auto feeder?

I have a new Officejet Pro 8600 Plus to replace the L7780 which brought up the scan menu when a document was loaded into the autofeeder.  How do I get the ne 8600 to do the same thing.  I find that I liked the convenience of the auto menu but it does not come up when I load document(s) to be scanned into the auto feeder.  Was this feature left off?
    This question was solved.

    Hi afredb,
I understand you have a new Officejet 8600 Plus and have some questions about the scan feature in comparison to the Officejet L7780. I will certainly do my best to answer these questions for you.
In testing on our own Officejet 8600, I have found that you would be correct, this is a feature that wasn't transferred to the upgraded machines after they stopped making the L7780. There were a few printers in between the L7780 and the 8600, and they didn't have that feature either. I believe the reasoning behind it was that many people use these printers for copying and faxing as well so having the feeder automatically assume it's going to be scanning would have created extra steps for many others. Hopefully this is only a minor inconvenience and you can still enjoy the printer
Hope this helps, have a great day!

  • Officejet Pro 8600 Plus wont print from Mac 10.5.8

    Hello,
I just purchased the Officejet Pro 8600 Plus and I'm running it wired through my router.  I'm able to print with my PC, my IPad and my phone but I cant print with my mac running OS 10.5.8.
When I try to print it puts the document in the print que and says "printing" but nothing happens at the printer.  I can scan to my mac from the printer and everything seems to indicate that the printer is connected.
I have downloaded the latest HP driver for Mac 10.5.  Also i have reset the printer (holding down the option key while deleting the printer from the system preferences) several times and re-added the printer.  Still nothing.
    Any ideas?
    Greg

    Reset the printing system:
    - Go to System Preferences > Print & Scan
    - Option click the '+' sign and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
    - Select the plus sign to re-add a printer. Select the Defualt tab on the top of the window. Look for the printer, select it and then next to the "Use" pulldown, select the printer model (not AirPrint). Wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.

  • Officejet Pro 8600 2-sided printing from iPad or iPhone

Hi - I just purchased an officejet pro 8600 so that I can print from my iPad or iPhone.  It has the 2 sided printing but I want to know if there is a way to turn of the 2 sided printing from these devices.  Right now when I print it automatically defaults to the 2-sided printing but I would prefer 1 side printing only.  Any help would be very much appreciated.
    Thank you!

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 network problems

HP Officejet Pro 8600 can't be accessed through router.  ROKU changed some settings in router.  What settings are a must?

There are so many different settings.  Do you know which ones the ROKU changed?
Do other wireless devices still connect to the router OK?
In most cases the printer should adapt to changes unless they are the network name and password.  If you haven't tried ityet turn the printer off, let sit a minute then turn it back on again.  That will force the printer to negotiate with the router to get any settings changes.  If the blue LED on the printer does come back on lit (no blink) then the printer is communicating with the wireless network properly again and your problem might be with a IP address change.
Let me know the status of the blue LED on the printer after the power cycle.

Hi there @Mizia , Welcome to the HP Forums!
I saw your post about your Officejet 8600 Plus disconnecting from your wireless network, and I hope to help. I have some suggestions for you to try below that could help re-establish the connection between the two!
Try power cycling the network devices:
Turn off the printer and computer and unplug the router for 1 minute (do not press any buttons on the router).
Plug the router back in and wait another minute, next turn on the printer and computer.

  • Officejet Pro 8600 can print but not scan

My printer occasionally stops scanning. it prints fine so I know the connection is good. I tried to scan from the website, and it does so, but then it gives me this frustrating image, telling me to click on the Save icon. Do you see a Save icon anywhere in this picture, because I don't.
