Old iPhone on 2.0 Takes around 2 hours to Backup?!

Hello, I just just downloaded the 2.0 firmware from iTunes and restored my iPhone to it. When syncing, a backup is taken. Well now on 2.0 it takes around 2+ Hours to backup! I received as call during it and had to start it all over! I still do not have a backup of my settings and such. On the old 1.1.4 it took rtound 3 minutes or less to backup. What is the deal?? I cannot deal with this. Please help.

Same behavior for me. I have the original iPhone release. I upgraded to iPhone firmware 2.0. Before I even installed anything apps related te backup and sync takes over 2 hours.
I have an 8GB version with only about 1 GB of content loaded. Something is wrong here. Any help?

Sounds like your iCloud account is still signed onto that iPhone, and Photo Stream is turned on.

I don't think this is something you should be seeing in 3.2.2
Since 4.2 is due out today, you can probably wait and see if it clears up with the install of the new system, but if you're not planning to upgrade for any reason I would try restoring my iPad and doing a clean first time sync (i.e., not restoring from a backup)
Other possible issues for an unduly long sync... many new photo files that are being sync as the first time sync requires that they be optimized for the device and this can be time consuming... also there have been sync issues, and incomplete syncs if you are trying to transfer photo files that have been corrupted somehow...

Replacing my old iphone with a new one, need guidance/help please

Hello fellow iPhone users.
This is my first post on these message boards ever so please excuse me if this has already been discuessed before.
Recently a friend of mine dropped my iphone pretty badly and it got scratched up except for the screen however he offered to replace it for me by buying me a new one. I insisted he didnt need to but now its too late because he already opened the box. My question is, what is the process I have to do to activate my new iPhone and deactivate my old one? Can someone explain to me the steps involved in this process?
Also, how can I transfer all my contacts that are only on my iPhone to my computer so that I can transfer my contacts back again to my new phone? Also, how can I transfer all my bookmarks on my older iPhone to my comptuer so that I can send them to my new phone? Is there any clear cut easy way to do this process? Any help is much appreciated.
Essentially, what I want to do is restore all my settings, text messages, email settings, wifi hot spots, bookmarks, images etc etc on to my new iPhone while restoring my older iPhone to its blank factory condition.

To transfer your information from your old iPhone to your new iPhone, you are going to want to do a few things:
1) Backup any information on the old iPhone to your computer. You can use Windows Address book or Outlook (2003 or 2007) to backup contacts and Internet Explorer to backup your bookmarks. You will need to import any pictures you have taken on the iPhone to your computer (they do not sync) or email them if you would like them saved. Sync your old iPhone with iTunes so that it will make a backup of your text messages and other preference information.

2) Take your SIM card out of your old iPhone and put it into the new iPhone. This takes all of your ATT account information to the new iPhone so that you will not have to run through a full activation again. You will have to run through a mini-activation, but all of your information will already be set up.
3) Connect the new iPhone into your computer. As part of the mini-activation process, iTunes will ask you if you want to restore your iPhone from the backup. If you say yes, then it will use the preferences from your old iPhone and put them on the new iPhone. You can then sync any information (contacts, bookmarks, photos, etc.) that you backed up on the computer from the old iPhone to the new iPhone.

4) Once you are confident that all of your information has been transferred from the old iPhone to the new one, you can restore the old iPhone and that will put the software back to factory settings. Hello, I had an iPhone 4 which I lost and inside there were some great photos that I want now to recover. In the meanwhile I bought an iPhone5S and I just realized that inside the iCloud backup menu is saying that there is a backup of 3GB of my old iPhone. How can I see if in that backup the photos are there? I have connected my iPhoto App to iCloud but it only finds photos from my new iPhone and not the old one...

As far as I know, there are three ways to recover deleted contacts and photos from iPhone 5 with iPhone Data Recovery.

Exchange SMS from my old Iphone to the new one?

I would like all of my sms textmessages to transfer from my old Iphone3 to the new Iphone4. Is this possible?

No iTunes content on the iPhone including 3rd party apps are included with the iPhone's backup. All iTunes content on the iPhone should be in your iTunes library on your computer.
This is completely separate and not related to the iPhone's backup, which is updated by iTunes as the first step during the iTunes sync process. The link I provided includes all info about the iPhone's backup - the data included with the backup, etc.
There is no setting to include or not included messages and the same for any other data that is included with the iPhone's backup. It is automatic per the link provided.
Check you check the link for MobileSyncBrowser and use that to see if the messages are available with your backup to extract by the utility? I believe there is a free trial that is limited but at least will determine if the messages are included with your old iPhone's backup. If not, they are gone unless they are still available on your old iPhone. If so, you can delete the existing backup for your old iPhone and manually create a new backup for your old iPhone with iTunes.

It seems that lately when I deleted the videos, they're not removed from the phone's memmory.
I check form setting/general/usage : all my apps add up to less than 2G. In itune, it shows all memmary is under the catagory "other". Is there any way I can access this "other" memmory to see what's in it and delete the things I don't want to regain the loss memmory?

Hopefully by posting this, it will bump up and someone with more iPhone troubleshooting experience might chime in.
As for the videos - interesting! Do you have the iPhone on one of those window holders, or do you hold it in your hand since that might ironically distract you, unless you've gotten very good at it!

Just to confirm on the screen of the iPhone do you see the itunes symbol with a cable pointing up to it?. If you do then your iPhone is inrecovery mode and would require you to restore it.
Now first you want to make sure iTunes is up to date and the cable you are using is not damaged. You also want to make sure iTunes is up to date.

In terms of the iPhone 3G that is definitely not able to update to iOS 7. Only the iPhone 4 and larter can update to iOS 7.

I couldn't find the edit button on my original post so I am posting an update here.
I have gone through more apps and have had good luck on all but one more. And it's not that the app doesn't work, I am talking about the Yahoo Weather app, It works fine, but when you swipe between cities the screen lags a bit and it sometimes doesn't move between pages the way it should. On iOS 7.1.2 it was smooth as butter but on iOS 8.0, not so much. I will post a note in the app store to let them know. I really like the Yahoo app better than the new stock app.
I have been going through my games and they all work fine. Angry Birds (Original and Stella), Canabalt, Minecraft, Bejeweled 2, Silly Walks, PopWords, Doodle Jump, Deep Green all seem to work just fine.
Starbucks app works as it should.
I will stop back again next week after I have had the weekend to play with it in detail and post my thoughts again.
