Old snoopy printout? (not a mac topic, but someone might know...)

A long long time ago, when my late dad was a computer programmer, he once came home with a computer printout of Snoopy, possibly sitting atop his doghouse. This would have been in the 70's or maybe early 80's? So it was a really big deal at the time. Anyone else have a dad do that for them when they were kids? I'm trying to find that image on the 'net, and am not having luck. I've tried Google searches like "Snoopy Dot Matrix", "Snoopy computer 1970"; and others, and nothing's coming up. I'm sure someone's scanned it in at some point, it's just a matter of finding it.

He might have run that program himself if it was a fairly large sheet or two of fanfold paper.
Way back when I learned programming in the days of keypunch cards we did stuff like that on IBM mainframes. It took a couple of hundred cards to make such an image if it's what I think you are talking about. This was way before the internet so you couldn't just trade your programs unless you shipped off a bunch of cards to the person looking for the program.
It's possible that some of this was in some magazine but all the one's I remember doing were all coded by me or friends.
We coded the cards to print a character at a specified position on the page and once all laid out you had art!

You need to be running Mac OS X 10.6.8 or newer to sync the iPhone 5; this may require buying a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD from the online Apple Store. OS upgrades aren't covered by the warranty.

Safari wont open - not a new topic but offered fixes dont fix

like an earlier post on the exact same subject, i tried to launch safari, got the window (empty) and then safari just closes down.
i get a report to apple option with an impenetrable message which i send.
it's been a couple of months now and i've pretty much given up on it, using firefox instead.
any wisdom? sorry this is a repeated topic but i prefer safari to firefox.

You don't say what you have tried, but try this:
Firstly:
Repairing permissions is an important part of regular maintenance, and should always be carried out both before and after any software installation or update.
Go to Disk Utility (this is in your Utilities Folder in your Application folder) and click on the icon of your hard disk (not the one with all the numbers).
In First Aid, click on Repair Permissions.
This only takes a minute or two.

If you were having any serious problems with your Mac you might as well complete the exercise by repairing your hard disk as well. You cannot do this from the same start-up disk. Reboot from your install disk (holding down the C key). Once it opens, select your language, and then go to Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Select your hard disk as before and click Repair.
Once that is complete reboot again from your usual start-up disk.
Secondly:
Download and re-install the correct COMBO 10.4.11 Updater, followed by a restart.
Thirdly:
Download and re-install the Safari 3.1.1 updater, followed by a restart, but bear the following in mind:
If your Safari keeps crashing, or if you are updating Safari (or just have):
Input Managers and other plug-ins from third parties can do as much harm as good. They use a security loophole to reach right into your applications' code and change that code as the application starts up. If you have installed 10.4.11 and Safari is crashing, the very first thing to do is clear out your InputManagers folders (both in your own Library and in the top-level Library), log out and log back in, and try again.
So, disable all third party add-ons before updating Safari, as they may not have been updated yet for the new version. Add them back one by one. If something goes awry, remove it again and check on the software manufacturer's website for news of an update to match your version of Safari. Remember: Tiger up to 10.4.10 used Safari 2.0.4 or, if you downloaded it, Safari 3.0.3 beta. Safari 10.4.11 used Safari 3.0.4 which was not a beta, and now Safari 3.1.1. If Safari 3.1.1 on 10.4.11 is not the fastest browser you have ever used, then something is wrong!
(Trying to revert to Safari 2 when running 10.4.11 can have repercussions, as Safari 3.x use a completely different webkit on which other applications like iChat, Mail, Dashboard Widgets etc also rely.)
Most errors reported here after an update are due to an unrepaired or undetected inherent fault in the system, and/or a third party ad-on. Add-on that have been frequently mentioned here, among others, for causing such problems are Piclens, Saft, AcidSearch and Pithhelmet. If you have them, trash them and go the developer's sites to see if new versions are available for Safari 3.1.
You should also ensure, if you are running Tiger 10.4.11, that you have downloaded and installed the correct version for your Mac of Security Updates up to 2008-003. Like all security updates, these require a restart and a permission repair.
To reiterate, Input Managers reach right into an application and alter its code. This puts the behavior of the affected application outside the control and responsibility of its developers: a recipe for problems. That's not to say that issues absolutely will ensue as a result of Input Managers, but you, as a user, must decide. If the functionality of a specific Input Manager or set thereof is really important to you, you may well choose to assume the associated risk.
Again, the advice is to remove all Input Managers from the following directories:
• /Library/InputManagers
• ~/Library/InputManagers
especially prior to system updates (they can always be added back one-by-one later).

Not a new topic but...I cannot connect to Itunes store

Seems like the same old song and dance. I downloaded the latest Itunes version and ever since my itunes not only opens slowly, but I cannot access the Itunes store.
My firewall allows Itunes, I have flushed, added certificates, checked settings..you name it, I've tried it. What used to take seconds for my computer to open Itunes, it take several minutes. Any other suggestions would be grand.

location servics enables (nothing in list)(no app in list which accesses location),
icloud "find my mac" enabled,
and WHEN I TRY TO FIND MY MACBOOK ON icloud or "find my iphone app" on iphone.
it says:
"ONLINE,LOCATION UNAVAILABLE"
and one more thing, when i set "time & date" to "set automactic according to my location"
then the result is "unable to determine location at this time."
CAN ANYONE TELL, HOW TO MAKE LOCATIONS ACCESSED? IS IT WIFI SETTINGS? OR IS IT OTHER SETTINGS BEYOND MAC .???

I wanted to add to this discussion what I found today on my own Mac. I have been trying to get Calendar to show my location and it wasn't working, so I tried to find out why. Similar to the original poster, even my location in "date and time preferences" was not working with all settings set properly. At my office, which is where the Mac rests most of the time, I have access to both wifi and LAN, but I prefer to send wifi to my iPad through my mac and the ethernet for a more consistent connection, so I regularly use ethernet instead of wifi on the Mac itself, obviously. I noticed that once I turn off wifi internet sharing or unplug my ethernet and the Mac connects to the local wifi, I all of a sudden have a location.
This seems silly to me. I shouldn't have to only be on wifi as most ethernet connections also have logged locations, either provided by the ISP or whatever. I think this might be an issue with the provider of the network myself and the user is on. Even though my wifi is broadcast through my mac's ethernet to my iPad, the reason the iPad gets location is because it has a second source of location, the actual GPS chip (like the iPhone from the poster). And since the issue seems to be with the ISP (work network well locked down in my case), it seems there may not be anything the poster can do to turn it on.
You might try looking for any specific ports the location services on Mac use, or see if there is anything your ISP/network is blocking.

I am not a Mac user, but Premiere Pro and other Adobe programs are installed on the Macs used by our freelance artists and editors.

We have video clips of interviews stored on a Mac-formatted external hard drive. Our new editor explained that in order to have authentic time codes, we must transcribe them using Premiere Pro. What is the most efficient way to do so?
In other words, should I open a Word doc, start listening to the interviews and type them? Is there a dictation option within Premiere or a note pad I can type into and save them? I am really baffled.

I think I've figured out that there is no dictation program.
When I open the video clips in Premiere Pro, they will not play. If I can figure out that problem, I wont worry about anything else. Isn't PP, a media player in and of itself? I must not be opening it correctly.

Windows platform, cannot use several of Suite programs now as they are coming up as trial versions since I started using Cloud..sure this is not a new topic, but not much Adobe support. Appreciative of help.

CS 6 Design and Web premium individual programs (not in use for some time) are now launching as trial versions since the advent of Adobe Cloud. Windows platform. I am sure I am one of about a million people with this issue, but having trouble getting specific suppport, no telephone numbers and installing this suite of programs was a nightmare....appreciative of any help today!

It is not a CS6 issue; it is not a specific software issue, none of the links address this situation which is an ADOBE issue...created by the Adobe Cloud process, not by me.
The "serial number is not valid" link I have already explored and their wonderful solutions do not apply and their suggestion to reinstall my software is the ABSOLUTELY LAST THING THE WORLD I will ever do after my initial experience with the original post-antipiracy measures installation. I understand antipiracy actions, but Adobe's response is out of control and not working for those of us who have honestly purchased the software. I did not create this issue, Adobe did. They should provide a telephone number with a live body to fix this issue for those of us affected. BTW I have been trying to resolve this on my own for one week before I even posted in this forum. Again I appreciate your responses, but they are not resolving my issue.

My CD reader do not see mac applications, but only windows applications.

On the adobe CS CD is a windows application aswel a Mac application.
There is no automatic startup on my mac.
And I do not see any file for a setup (.dmg) or other file to install Adobe CS.
It looks my drive only sees the Windows files.
Who can help me to solve this problem?

Apple Mail would not send .mac mail but will send POP mail

I have an iMAC G5 with Leopard 10.5.3. I use Apple Mail and I cannot send mail via my .mac account an dthe error message say SMTP server can not be accessed. I change the port it works while I am in the program. I quit and sign back on and the same port setting does not work. I am using 587 without SSL checked. I have no problems sending on my POP accounts such as GMAIL and ATT Mail.
I also have a time capsule for wireless back up.
Any thoughts?

Yes. My thought is, that the .Mac mailserver were simply down due to a failure or for maintenance at the point of time your couldn't send. My next thought is, that this might happen from time to time. And my third thought is to check the .Mac system state and try again when the servers are up and running again.

I have been a loyal Nokia customer for years, I think my first was a 8100(?) back in 1999, but I can't wait for my contract to expire so I can get a phone by a company that doesn't test my loyalty everytime new firmware or software is released.

Go to the Windows Control Panel and select Boot Camp applet. In that applet there is a Boot Drive option. Select Mac OS X.
Or restart the system and hold down the Option key for a few second. A Boot Menu screen will come up. Select Macintosh HD.
Once in OS X go to the Sys Prefences, Startup Disk and select Macintosh HD Mt Lion 10.8.2 and click Restart then Restart again. the system will now restart in Mac OS X.
To boot back to Windows do the same, Startup Disk, and select Windows then Restart and Restart again.

In EJBs, we can always spawn a JDBC connection using the internal server side driver through defaultConnection() or kprb. My question is, can we spawn any other kind of connection from an EJB to another database on some remote machine, this would involve using the thin or oci drivers, i try but get security exceptions and access privilege exception though the account i use is privilegded for database operations. Can someone answer my question please.
