Older version recovery

I had Tiger and installed Leopard. Used it for awhile and then reinstalled Leopard again as it did not install properly the first time. I lost all of my files as I did not remember to back up first. Is there a way with the Mac to go back to the older version for recovery? I have a MacBook Pro.

Okay, I didn't think so but had to try. Thanks for your reply.

  • Problem with Rescue & Recovery and older version backups

    I have R&R version 4.23 on a R61i running XPP. Two problems:
    1) It will not recognize older version backups on external HD. Any way to retrieve a few files only from old backup?
    2) How do I delete an older version backup on internal HD which is not accessible but taking up lot of space? It seems to be hidden but is there.
    Thanks!

    hey harryr,
could you provide a screenshot of any error that you're receiving when you tried to use the R&R ?
Curious to know, those backup that you have, was it done before upgrading to R&R v4.23 ? and if you copied the backup file from external to internal HDD, are you able to recover the backup ?
For number 2, is that backup located on the C:\ ? If it is, try changing the view to show all hidden files.
Also, do check if your system is updated too.

  • Can not remove older version on windows 7 PC?

How do I remove an older version of iTunes on my windows 7 PC? I can not install iTunes unless I do this? Thanx, Dan.

  • The older version of itunes cannot be removed. contact your technical support group.

    need help with itunes 12.1
my itunes was working just fine on my windows 7 pro PC.
Update 12.1 popped up and I clicked download and install and now all of my itunes is gone.
I uninstalled all Apple software packages, and also pain stakingly went thru my registry line by line and deleted all references to itunes, apple, quicktime, etc., then downloaded fresh downloads of the installer and each time I get just about to the end of the installer and a window pops up and says
"the older version of itunes cannot be removed. contact your technical support.
So, I tried downloading the previous version 11.4 and 10.7 64bit installers and then the system won't even get started doing an install when the system responds...
"a newer version of itunes is already installed", and the installer quits.
I have cleaned my registry now about 5 times, I ran all of the apps to clean my PC of all of the apple and itune files. I am an administrator on my PC. I also went as far as creating a second administrator and switching under that account and still get the same responses.
I have removed any attached external drives and tried the installer.
I have tried to install itunes under a different folder location instead of the default C:\Program Files directory.
I have tried to install via the Apple Software Upgrade utility as well as direct downloads of the installers.
All of my music is gone.
When I run the installer now, all of the other apple software files install ok, with the exception of itunes. It gets nearly complete when the "older version" error comes up then I notice it backs off the installation and no files or directories are created.
There is nothing in the Control Panel 'Add/Remove Programs' as far as iTunes, their are no directories or files, yet it still sees a old version of itunes referenced in some file on the pc.
I ran a couple of utilities such as CCleaner, Everything, Revo Uninstaller and Registry Reviver, as well as going thru regedit line by line for hours to remove references to apple and itunes - all still with the same results.
Either I get a 'the older version cannot be removed' or 'a newer version of itunes is already installed'
    very frustrated.
anyone have a installer that will complete ignoring any errors?

  • How do I install older version of iTunes on my computer?

I have a new windows laptop and would like to install the older version of iTunes, since there are so many problems with the new one. I tried installing the latest version and correct the problems with it, but after hours of frustration and reading and trying this and that, nothing is working for me! I give up and just want the old iTunes, or please tell me how soon will a new trouble free version be available?

If you've already tried a complete uninstall and reinstall try opening iTunes in safe mode (hold down CTRL+SHIFT) as you start iTunes, then going to Edit > Preferences > Store and turing off Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases. You may find iTunes will now start normally.
Or see the Further Information area of Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates and try the tip about rolling back to the most recent version of iTunes that worked for you.

  • Hi, my computer's too old to download 3.6.24 and it says that the older version will stop being supported soon, so how can I continue to use Firefox, I can't afford a new computer? It crashes a lot too, I've been told that's because it's old too.

It seems to crash after a period of time and then will keep crashing constantly if I keep trying to open up Firefox. It does the same with Safari. It's a mac running on 10.5.8. Is it possible to download and use older versions of Firefox? Help! Please.

There are some recovery programs out there if you google them - many with free trials. I haven't tried them so I have no opinion.Read any professional tech and user reviews you can find before you try one. I have read here in the past that some have worked for people who have posted here.
To help in the future, have you considered using Jump Desktop - Remote Desktop? I know it won't solve the problem you're dealing with now (unless notes were taken on your computer.) It's in the app store. It's the #1 paid app in the business category and the reviews are great. It allows you to see anything that's on your computer on your ipad. If you take your notes on your ipad then you might want to email them to yourself, put them on Word in your computer, for example, and then if you need them in class, you remotely connect your ipad to your computer and you will see your notes. This way you won't have to rely so much on the cloud. The explanation would be too long here, but you might want to take a look at it. You can use the free trial on jumpdesk.com and then if it works for you, buy it in the app store.
Meanwhile, it's hours since you sent this post. Hopefully others who can help solve your problem who are on this forum now can help you. I hope you get your notes back. Don't give up too quickly.
    Hope this helps.

  • My iPod Classic (the older version) will only start up, what to do?

My iPod Classic (older version) will only start up but as soon as it starts up it turns itself off again and it makes quite a loud clicking sound when it turns itself off, I have had it plugged in for quite a while and in the first 30 minutes of having it plugged in it said very low battery but then turned itself off, I have tried resetting it with the menu and the middle button and I can't connect it the computer that it has been synced with either, I really need my iPod and I really don't know what to do to fix it, is it the battery or the cable or something small like that? I'm not sure whether it is charging from the wall socket either.

    - After being connected tot a charging source for half an hour, reset the iPod.
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Connect the iPod to your computer and and if it shows in iTunes restore the iPOd.
    - Next see if placing the iPod in recovery mode will allow you to restore the iPod. For recovery mode see:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore
Sorry I missed that you said you dried it in your first post.

  • Restore older version backup

    Hi,
I started to install the new iphone os this evening.  It was taking awhile, I was on the phone with my mom and wanted to help her try to find an old purchase so logged in itunes as her.  Well the download finished an it tried to install but I'm assuming got confused since I was logged in as her.  I signed out and logged in as me, but I got a message it was in recovery mode and the only option was to restore to factory settiing.  I didn't think this would be a problem since I could restore from backup.  Well, when I tried to restore from backup it said I could not because the backup did not complete.  Now even if I right click on the iphone in itunes to look at older versions, only ones from after this happened appear.  I back up my iphone all the time and am hoping I could somehow access a version from earlier than this evening.  I back up to icloud...is there a way to get to previous versions????  Would more appear if I installed the previous OS?  I have backed up to my computer in the past, but don't have a "Mobile" folder in "Application Support". If I can't restore I will lose every single text message, and the work I did in 1Password yesterday than I have not synced to my computer.  I am so sick about this loss I will have to take, and because I'm beating myself up for not recognizing the problem that would occur, and for not being able to use a backup since I make it a regular practice to back up.  I AM SOOO HOPING SOMEONE WILL COME TO THE RESCUE!!!!!  PLEASE HELP!!!!!
    Michelle

I can't believe this, but I GOT EVERYTHING BACK!!!
For some reason the title of the oldest backup was 5:51 PM.  BUT on closer inspection it was saved at 3:21 PM.  I restored to it and it was indeed from this afternoon!
    YAYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
