One client for ABAP+Java

Hi,
In my PRD system (ERP 6.0 ABAP+Java), users may run via SAPGUI & access cProjects via web. Now I'm wondering that I should whether use 2 clients or just one. If using one client only, should I use client 001 or I can use another I like?
Btw, what are advantages & disadvantages of having 2 clients and the same for using 1 client only?
Thanks,
Toan Do

  • System copy for ABAP+JAVA system using SAPINST method

    Dear support,
    We have recently upgraded to ECC 6.0 system and we have been still doing system copy by using backup and restore method. I know its<b> wrong</b>.
    which involves below steps , this old methos works fine for ABAP engine and evreything looks ok.But java engine will not work.
    So we need to use SAPINST method as described in note 785848 and system copy guide available on OSS. But i am really not able to understand sequence
    for tasks to be carried out in this SAPINST method.
    <b>Can anybody list few sequence along with step by step procedure as i mentioned below for old system copy procedure.</b>
    Is it really difficult to make that for <b>SAPINST</b>  as everybody says refer to standard guide and note ?
    Anybody if possible can make the same way as i did below , i think it would rather be small as far as my understanding after reading those docs.
    Simple old system copy procedure works for ABAP is as:
    Run the following command on source system.
    a. Login as <sid>adm
    b. svrmgrl
    c. connect internal
    d. alter database backup controlfile to trace;
    e. exit;
    f. Above command will generate a .trc file in /oracle/P01/saptrance/usertrace directory.
    g. Copy the text from CREATE CONTROLFILE until the ( and paste it in to any new .sql or controlfile.sql file.
    h. Copy the controlfile.sql to target system.
    i. Edit the file and replace the entire source SID to target SID.
    j. Edit the reuse database command with the set database command
    Copy the aft generated during the backup file from the source system to target system. (/oracle/<SID>/sapbackup)
    a. Change all the source <SID> to target <SID>.
    b. Only don't change the backup volume name it must be target system <SID>.
    c. Copy the above aft file name line from the source back<SID>.log to target<SID>.log file.
    5. Shutdown the target server instance.
    6. From this onwards all the command on the target system only.
    a. Login as <SID>adm
    b. run the SAPDBA
    c. select J (Restore/Recovery)
    d. select B (Full restore and recovery)
    e. select A (Select backup of type)
    f. Select the offline backup which you want to restore.
    g. It will take some time to restore.
    h. Once the database is restored login as <SID>adm and run the
    i. svrmgrl
    j. connect internal;
    k. startup nomount (if the database is already mounted shutdown it using the shutdown command)
    l. run the following command
    m. @controlfile.sql (file name of the control file contains the CREATE CONTROLFILE statement)
    n. After the run the above command it should give the "Statement Processed)
    o. alter database open resetlogs.
    I am really looking forward to see anybody take some time out to prepare this kind of step by step procedure.
    It would be of greate help for all of us for performing system copy with sapinst method.
    Looking forward for your support.
    Best Regards,

    Hi,
    As per the guide you need to do source system Technical Preparations, in that running the export preparation is also one. You need to run this first before you start the export, if and only if export will successful if preparation is successful.
    Yes you need to create the export directory to take the export copy of source system, it may be any where in your server. It should be having 6 to 8 GB free space.No need to create the export directory in target system, after export is completed in the source system you copy the export directory to the target system.
    <b>Target system</b>
    Yes you need to take the back up file system and delete all the contents of the directory.
    Yes it can be considered as fresh system installation but copy of source system.
    Yes the process follows after you giving the export directory path .
    Next screen you will get the database drop and recreate screen chouse the drop and recreate method
    Next J2EE user name and password
    Next DDIC password
    Next you have to give kernel and oracle client dvd path
    Next Parameter checking screen here if you are selected database drop and recreate you have to revise the oracle database system option
    If you are selecting review next screen is database advance option you have to select the advanced option
    Next you have to select following option to recreate
    1 Sapdata directory mapping
    2 Database instance file system
    3 Create database parameter
    4 Create tablespace
    Next screen sapdata directory creating
    Next screen you can just click next no need to change any setting
    Next table creation
    Next screen specify oracle instance directories
    Next again parameter checking and last this is last screen
    Next will be the execution screen
    Reward points if usefull

  • EHP4 for ABAP+JAVA

    Hello colleagues!
    I have some doubts regarding installation EHP4 ABAP and Java on the same host. We download installation CDs with EHP4, but SAPInst differs than previous SAPInst.
    In installtion guides I didn't find any information about dual installtion (ABAPJava on one host). Does anybody try to install ABAPJava on one host? In my thoughts, I should install Central System ABAP and then install Central System Java. Are my thoughts right?

    Hi,
    If you are installing new ERP EHP4 system then for ABAP and Java there will be seperate installation.
    And you can install both system on same host but SID will be different.
    For more information, please check SAP note 855534.

    Ex:DVEBMGS20
    SCS21
    If I have another dialog instance,can I have only ABAP or only Java in that?What will be the directory structure?But I read that they will be in 1:1 ratio
    Will it be D22(Only ABAP) or J22(Java only).
    As a dialog instance,can ABAP exist with out JAVA.
    or can JAVA exist without ABAP
    Please explain the directory structure with an example.

  • There is  1 or 2 msg server for ABAP+Java system?

    Hi, all:
    I am confused by the number of msg server processes in ABAP+Java system.
    We are running on Windows/Oracle platform.
    There are 2 msg_server.exe at OS level. So it looks one of them belongs to the central instance and one of them belong to the central service of the Java stack. Am I correct? I've heard that even for an ABAP+java system, there is only one msg server. Which one is correct? Please share your opinion, thanks.

    Hi,
    There will be 2 MSG servers running in ABAP + JAVA system..
    1 for SCS and other for Central Instance.

  • IS Webdynpro for ABAP/JAVA is same?

    Hi Friends,
    I'm a SAP technical consultant. I would like to learn webdynpro for ABAP. Can anyone of you tell me webdynpro for ABAP and webdynpro for JAVA are same? with webdynpro for ABAP Can we acheive what we can do with webdynpro for JAVA?
    Thanks in advance,
    venkat.

    hi,
    Web Dynpro is the SAP NetWeaver programming model for user interfaces (UIs).
    The Web Dynpro model is based on the Model View Controller paradigm, and has the following features that build on the classic dynpro model:
    ·        Clear separation of business logic and display logic
    ·        Uniform metamodel for all types of user interfaces
    ·        Execution on a number of client platforms.
    ·        Extensive platform independence of interfaces
    Web Dynpro is available both in the Java and the ABAP development environment.

  • LDAP UME for ABAP + JAVA SYSTEM

    Hi,
    I am using NW 7  SP 15 with both ABAP + JAVA stack. The UME is set to ABAP by default during installation.
    Can we change that to LDAP datasource?
    Under System Configuration -> UME Configuration -> Data Sources (TAB) -> in Data Source dropdown box -> there is only ONE option available "ABAP SYSTEM" and no other option is present.
    Any suggestion?
    Regards
    Deb

    Ups! Obviously a later change from ABAP to some other UME indeed is not supported by SAP. But this means not, that you cannot use LDAP or JAVA from the very beginning.
    Did you not have the option to choose another UME data source for the Java Add-In during the installation process? (this may make sense, because the installation sequence for double stacks is always 1. ABAP stack 2. Java stack).
    If not, then indeed LDAP as the primary UME data source is not supported for double stack installations.
    If yes, you only have the chance to re-install your system.
    In every case you can install 2 separate instances and connect them later. 1 ABAP instance with UME of course ABAP and 1 Java instance with UME LDAP or Java DB.
    But before doing that and if I were you I would open a CSN at SMP and ask the software vendor ...

  • Changing message server port for ABAP+Java Instance

    Hi,
    We had change our message server port for the Java instance from 3607 to 3667.
    We did this using the j2ee config tool. We also verified this information through the console config.
    But when we look into system info URL using the URL as shown below,  we still that the old message server port is being used. We have recycled the instance couple of times , but does not seem to help.
    http://dfudsbw1.dfna.corp.dom:50700/sap/monitoring/SystemInfo
    Any ideas where else we have to change the port no. for the message server

    Hi guys,
    I solved this on my own with documentation help from SAP.
    I had to change the port no. in the Global dispatcher and Global server area as well.
    Please see details from SAP below.
    "Message Server: Changing Ports/Hosts shows which areas need to be adjusted if
    the port or host of the message server changes. Ports are, of course, changed in the
    instance profile of the Central Services instance. In the example, the port 3677 and
    the HTTP port 8177 have been set, and the new host is called twdfxxx. You need to
    use the Config Tool to set these values. For each instance, you need to maintain the
    corresponding values for the Message server host and Message server port on the
    Message Server and Bootstrap tab page. The connection details for dispatchers or
    servers to the message server are maintained in the Cluster Manager. As shown in the
    figure, the ms.host and ms.port are maintained, respectively, in the Cluster Manager
    with Global Dispatcher and the Global Server. After you have maintained all of the
    parameters, you can start the instances."

  • FREE software for creating VM's (also Linux and MAC).  Good for ABAP+JAVA

    For anybody not wanting to spend money on vmware or parallels you can run this stuff very easily on LINUX, WINDOWS or MACs
    http://www.virtualbox.org/
    It's free open source and works really well --excellent documentation.
    I find using VM's on the whole a decent solution to installing various SAP Netweaver trial products -- saves the hassle of re-installing / uninstalling stuff. Just junk the VM and use a new one.
    Another great idea is to have 2 VM's so you can concurrently have both the JAVA and ABAP stuff without problems --ensure your "Real" machine has plenty of RAM memory if you do this --suggest 4GB as a minimum.
    Cheers

    When Disk Utility and Toast 6 Titanium are not working, then there is probably something wrong with the DVD-writter or the image you want to burn.

  • SSL: How to use the same key pair for ABAP & JAVA?

    Hello,
    I want to setup an XI (3.0 on Netweaver04)installation in the way, that ABAP AS and JAVA AS use the same key pair for SSL. My problem is to define the same private key on ABAP and JAVA. With the JAVA Administrator I am able to define or import a private key. But I could not find a possibility in ABAP to manage private keys in order to use the same on as in JAVA. What is the procedure for this?

  • WRT110: I want to create an access rule for one client for one application during one time period

    I have a problem with one of the clients on my LAN which is running uTorrent to detriment of everyone else. It saturates the pipe. I have been unable to prod this user into bothering to tweak their settings to throttle bandwidth back and so have resorted to an access rule on the router which kicks that MAC address off during a particular time period during the day. But as irritated as I am about this slacker sense of outrageous entitlement, kicking them off entirely seems a tad heavy handed even for me.
    So, In the router I can create a rule per MAC address and specify time. But is it possible to limit this to denying uTorrent ONLY? And if so what port or port ranges would I use.
    Alternatively I already use a QoS setting for one of my VoIP TA's. Would I gain anything by degrading the application indirectly by creating a QoS = LOW for that port range? Again, I don't really care about any other application, just uTorrent and just that client. How much degradation is there really in setting QoS to LOW?

    Well it wont make much difference, when you enable QOS service on your router. Yes it is possible to Deny uTorrent application from your Router. When you are Under "Application and Gaming" Tab, Under "Blocked Application" you will find "Application Name" , "Port Range" and "Protocol" so you need to input under Application Name "uTorrent" and under port range you need to input the port number which uTorrent application use and then under protocol select "Both" and click on ADD. Then again in Application you will find uTorrent , select and click on (>>) right arrow so it will block that application on your Router. By doing this it will block uTorrent from your Router.

  • How to code Java client for a Java Web Service

    Hi,
    I have a modest knowledge on Java and new to Web Services. I have create a web service using JDeveloper as detailed at the URL http://www.oracle.com/webfolder/technetwork/tutorials/obe/jdev/obe1013jdev/10131/devdepandmanagingws/devdepandmanagingws.htm
    In my Web Service, I have one GetSum java class, which has a method addSum(int x, int y) and this method returns the sum of x and y. I am able to successfully test the addSum method in the web service via the end point. However, I would want to use the addSum() method of the web service in a stand alone java class. For this I have used the wsimport utility and the WSDL of the webservice, from which I have got the following java classes.
    AddSum.class
    AddSumResponse.class
    GetSumWS.class
    GetSumWS_Service.class
    ObjectFactory.class
    package-info.class
    I have packed all the above class into a jar file.
    I have tried many options provided in various websites, but am not able to get this resolved. I am pasting the WSDL for any reference

    Can someone please provide me the code to invoke the addSum() method in a stand alone java class. I would really appreciate the help
    Thanks,
    Suresh

    Hi,
    The following is my code to invoke the addSum() web service method.
    package com.FirstWS;
    import com.firstws.*;
    import com.firstws.GetSumWS_Service;
    import com.firstws.GetSumWS;
    import java.rmi.RemoteException;
    public class useWS {
    public static void main (String[] args) {
    GetSumWS port = null;
    try {
    int number1 = 10;
    int number2 = 20;
    port = new GetSumWS_Service().getGetSumWSSoapHttpPort();
    System.out.println ("Invoking addNumbers(%d, %d)\n"+ number1 + number2);
    int result;
    result = port.addSum(number1,number2);
    System.out.printf (
    "The result of adding %d and %d is %d.\n\n",
    number1, number2, result);
    } catch (Exception ex) {
    System.out.println ("Caught Exception: %s\n"+ex);
    But when I compile, I get the following error: "Error(14,20): Service not found in class com.firstws.GetSumWS_Service in class com.FirstWS.useWS"
    Please let me know where I have wrong, and would appreciate if you could correct it.
    Thanks,
    Suresh

  • Seperate client for ABAP dev

    Can anyone pls list out the advantages to have abap dev client seperated with the configuration client?
    Thanks!

    Hello Kumar
    That is exactly the point why some customers have separated ABAP development and customizing into different clients on the DEV system.
    The ABAP developers may disturb the work of the people doing the customizing yet customizing changes will not affect immediately the ABAP developers.
    Of course customizing and ABAP development have to "meet" in the same client of the QAS system.
    Another advantage of separating ABAP development and customizing into different clients is "segregation of duties": This way you can (partially) prevent ABAP developers from doing customizing.
    Regards
      Uwe
    PS: I have seen this kind of segregation in the system landscape of one of the biggest customers of SAP Switzerland.
