One process generating too much archives

Hi all,
DB-Oracle 9.2
OS- Aix
One of my friend ask me how to find out which process generating too mcuh archive logs
below are some of the parameters
log_checkpoint_interval integer 30000
log_checkpoint_timeout integer 1800
log_checkpoints_to_alert boolean FALSE
log_buffer  1048576
log_archive_max_processes  2
fast_start_mttr_target 0please suggest me

hi,
you have killed the seesion.. but insert operations are not needed or what? if you don't want any insert from that user then give priveleges acccordingly.
coz, the import may be needed for some application. or else increase the redo log files.
to find which process
check the holding session from dba_waiter and check whether the session using any insert or update statement..(find the query).. even u can check from ps-ef |grep arch..
instead of killing you can do any other alteration or inform user to import at a less consuption DB time..
regards,
Deepak

  • Importing tables generating too much archives

    I am using 9i/10g.
Please suggest how to import big tables without generating archives.
Can be set something like direct=y
    Thanks in advance,
    Aj

Pre-create the objects before import and change them to NOLOGGING.
This way the amount of Redo Generated will be less with Archive Log mode.
Use Buffer and Commit=n which would speed up the import process.
If possible, Change the Database to Noarchive log mode and proceed with the import.
Same way.Create the Indexes with Nologging and Parallel mode to speed up the process.

  • SYSTEM IDLE PROCESS SHOWING TOO MUCH CPU USAGE

I Have problem with system idle process showing too much cpu usage.but the process is normal.nothing more else.my laptop is toshiba satelite pro m300.pls give the solution as earliest as possible.

Without knowing the excat model or what software, hardware or external components are running CPU usage is just an average measurement.  If you have alot of background components/software running can cause a high reading, as it you allowed updating to runn consistently, or IM Messenger to consistently gain access.

  • Always one annoying click too much to get to image...

For my Nokia 5800, as a frequent viewer of images, I'd like to get to that folder quickly. There is a button with an image symbol on the choices after clicking the "shortcut to media functions" (the small arrow-like button to the right above the screen) but when clicking it, you actually get to the Gallery menu, where the image folder is only one of several choices, including music and videos, although those already have separate buttons on the "shortcut to media functions" menu.
Therefore, I tried to make a shortcut to the image folder directly on the home screen instead, but the Nokia team appears to have forgotten to include that folder in the list of available shortcuts. The closest you can get is to the Gallery menu, which still is one annoying click too much to get to the image folder.
Does anyone know how to create an actual shortcut to the image folder?
    Solved!

No worries. As for Nokia photo browser, I don't understand how it is still in the experimental phase considering it has been around for a couple of years now. I would love to see it make it to final release or even implemented into the firmware. It works great on Symbian^3.
    All the best.

  • ICloud photos process takes too much network resources

Photos of iCloud process takes too much network resources in the background and slows down a lot the iMAC. Almost impossible to navigate or use applications that uses internet connections.
I would like to pause the process or to configure it somehow to prevent excesive network utilization.

Do you have iPhoto setup to import all Photo Stream photos into your library?  If so uncheck the circled checkbox in this screenshot and see if that will speed up things:
You'll have to manually import from the Photo Stream after that.

  • Create procedure is generating too many archive logs

    Hi
The following procedure was run on one of our databases and it hung since there were too many archive logs being generated.
What would be the answer? The db must remain in archivelog mode.
I understand the nologging concept, but as I know this applies to creating tables, views, indexes and tablespaces. This script is creating procedure.

So, how could I assist our developer with this, so that she can run it again without it generating a ton of logs ? ?
    Thanks
    Oracle 9.2.0.5

The amount of redo generated is a direct function of how much data is changing. If you insert 'x' number of rows, you are going to generate 'y' mbytes of redo. If your procedure is destined to insert 1000 rows, then it is destined to create a certain amount of redo. Period.
I would question the <i>performance</i> of the procedure shown ... using a cursor loop with a commit after every row is going to be a slug on performance but that doesn't change the fact 'x' inserts will always generate 'y' redo.

  • Oracle Instances Processes  consuming too much memory

Will somebody be able to guide me with the factors that are causing too much memory consumption when a single Oracle.exe instance is started ? Due to this problem it is not possible to run 2 instances at the same time.
Oracle is running on Windows NT 4.0 SP6.
    Oracle version 8.1.6.0.0
Currently we have 512MBytes of ram.(4.83G free space)
One of the Instance consumes as much as 178,320K of Ram,
    another consumes about 138,000K

Oracle consumes as much memory as you want, but more memory is faster.
    Review your init.ora (db_block_buffer y shared_pool_size)
(It4s posible to run 10 instances in a machine with just 1 Gigabyte and they work fine. It depends on the use of the databases, the number of users, just for production or development, etc, ...).

  • Backupd process using too much memory, blocking up system (Yosemite)

    Hello,
Since I upgraded to Yosemite (maybe even only after I installed 10.10.1) on my Early 2009 17" MacBook Pro, after a while, a process called "backupd" is started, using all available memory, then switching to virtual memory. After a few hours, it can take more than 20 GB of virtual memory, making the MacBook Pro very slow and unresponsive. Killing the process using Activity Monitor (which can take many minutes because of the unresponsiveness) regains the used memory, and almost immediately makes the machine responsive again.
What is this "backupd" doing anyway, are there means to prevent it from running at all or to let it stop using so much memory, or might there be a bug in OS X 10.10.1?
    Cheers,
    Dirk

I did that anyway yesterday, to turn off the mobile backups, as my MBP is not so mobile anymore
Let's see if it works and if the problem is solved by it

  • Process Using too much Processor

    Hi all !
I have a real wierd request.
I have a process which runs for about a hour converting files. The process only between 10 and 15MB of memory which is fine. The problem is that the process uses basically all the processing power available on the server. My administrator is worried that if another process is started whie mine is running it will not receive a share of the processor . Even though I have told him (and showed him) that the java app releases some of the processor when another program requests it.
Is there anyway of specifying the percentage of processor a java app uses ? For example I would like to tell the app to only use 50% of the available processor !
    Robin

How computationally intensive is the conversion? Are they small files that require sophisticated processing? Or are they large files that are processed in a simple way?
I'm asking because it's very unusual for a process that does significant I/O to peg the CPU. The fact that it does may point to a bug in the code.

    Dear All,
I am currently using directory server 6.2 and it comes out that the ns-slapd process is taking almost 95% of cpu time. This goes for 2 to 3 hours then it comes back to normal. This is happening every alternate day. I have monitored the log but could not find any suspected activity which may be causing this.
Is this something vulnerable in 6.2?
Any tunings that i should undergo?
