Only OpenDirectory admins can see freebusy

I'm running OSX Server 10.5.6, and have an iCal instance running with users set up through Open Directory. However, only people set up as admins in Open Directory are able to see freebusy information in their clients. I'm guessing that freebusy access is restricted to a specific user group in Open Directory, but I don't know what that group would be.
Clients are running Thunderbird with a modified version of the Lightning plugin from http://www.scalableogo.org/about/overview.html.
Any ideas?

It looks like a kind of security trimming. First of all, would you issue Set-FastSearchSecurityLogLevel command to increase a log level in attempt to identify if it is security trimming problem (as it looks like)?

    Hi Akshaj,
    It would certainly be hard for me to replicate (I am on 10g), but perhaps you could identify the patches that were applied and this would help people discern the problem.
    I would narrow down this problem to one business area. Next, identify what users or responsibilities have been granted access using the Discoverer admin tool. Has anything changed?
    Confirm which users have been granted access. Has this changed because of the patch?
    I would look at the session sql to see if there is some change after the patch (something like this):

    parsing_schema_name = 'APPS'
    and module in ('Disco10, DISCOADMIN:Discoverer_login_responsibility','dis51ws@apps_server_url (TNS V1-V3)')
    order by first_load_time desc;
    Hopefully you have a test or development environment which has not received this patch and you can juxtapose the authentication behavior.

  • Why does LR crash when Import command is used? The only solution I can see is to restart my PC. Issue pre-dates latest LR upgrade.

    LR has stopped working several times when I use the Import command (button and from File menu) - Windows gives the options of waiting or closing LR. I have waited for 30 mnutes but nothing happens. This pre and post-dates the latest LR upgrade. I'm using Windows8 and have only had problems in recent days. The only solution I can see is to restart my PC. What's happening - any ideas?

    Yes, I imported some .CR2 files taken from home to the office and imported them into an existing catalog there. And yes, they're shown okay. Plus other 2006 files (from the same camera, I usually import into both) are okay too. There are some .XMP files in some 2006 folders, but not many. I will take the catalogue (sorry, got caught up in the Yank spelling) from home to the office on Monday and try importing that, hadn't thought of that. The photo's won't be in the same folder structure though and not all will be there.
    Apologies for not answering the other question, I am a person who came from the Pixmantec RawShooter background and would have still been using that program then. The .RWSettings folders are still in the folder structure. I am pretty careful with my .CR2 files and try not to use any programs that would directly edit them. I have backups on DVD, but I haven't tried them. I also have another copy of some 2006 files on another HDD and have tried importing them tonight into the new catalog with no change in behaviour.
    I will also try setting the camera date to 2006, take some new pics and see what happens.
    Apologies, too, about the apostrophes, my dear Mum would be most embarressed at me. Can't edit them now, history has passed by!

    I have an employee who has an issue when on calls. When he is in a call with someone, he can hear another call beeping in but no name shows up. The only way he can see who called is if they leave a voicemail. He says the phone is up to date with software. Wondering if anyone can help me figure out what is going on.

    Go to the right side of the list view and place your cursor over the edge until it turns into a double arrow, then click and drag to the left.
    If using the Classic layout, go to the bottom of the screen and after getting the double arrow, click and drag up.

    You have likely dragged the size of the filmstrip thumbnails to a small size that prevents Lightroom from displaying the badges. Using your mouse, mouse over the top line of the filmstrip and then drag it supports to increase the size.

  • Airport admin can see Base Station, but only via direct ethernet connection

    After resetting my snow (dual ethernet) base station, everything went well with the Airport Admin Utility reconfiguration. But after unplugging the ethernet cable between my computer and the base station, I'm not able to detect the base station wirelessly. Searching for "other" networks won't work. I've tried changing passwords, base station names, location names, network names, using the hex password. I hope I'm missing something obvious. Thanks in advance for any help!

    Yes, the wireless network name (currently Apple Network xxxxxx), does not appear in the list. My iBook and Snow Leopard iMac cannot detect it, nor can two iPod Touches in the house. Nor can our Wii. All of which used to before all this. All these are able to detect other networks -- basically, all of my neighbors and then some that come and go.
    I have not tried bringing the base station to another building. That’s a good idea.
    I have tried http://support.apple.com/kb/TA20683 and kept getting stuck at the configuration stage -- where it seems to reset the ABS, but after which the ABS does not appear in the Admin Utility window. Finally, after many, many attempts at a hard reset, I’m almost positive the whole config & software upload took. My only evidence is that with the ABS still connected to my iBook (OS X 14.11 running Admin Utility 4.25) I can finally double click on “Base Station” and see lots of setting options, the correct Apple Airport ID, etc. In other words, as you guessed, I can see “(and, presumably, change) the wireless network name in the AirPort tab of AirPort Admin Utility (the default is something like "Apple Network xxxxxx") when connected via Ethernet.”
    What led to this? It all started when I was trying to get our Wii on to our wireless network. But the Wii wouldn’t log on. It gets foggy after that (I’ve tried so many things, I’ve lost track of the initial steps creating the problem). I might have tried changing channels or something from my Snow Leopard computer, having forgotten that my Snow Leopard computer can’t administer my dual ethernet ABS. It’s possible it really started with turning on and off my DSL modem, which forced me to reset my DSL password with ATT.
    Come to think of it, that might have been how this all started. After turning my DSL modem on again, ATT wanted me to download special software for me to reset my password. That wasn’t working (whatever it was would never load. But, I found a way to do it online. Otherwise, my browser kept spitting me back to ATTs password creation page.) By the time I went to my iBook to get into my ABS, remembering that was how I needed to tinker with it, to get back to the original Wii issue, I had lost all connections to my ABS.
    Until now, where I can at least see the ABS again in the Airport Admin Utility -- via ethernet connection only.

  • Windows 7 on domain, only domain admins can install/uninstall and update

    We are rolling out some Windows 7 PC's at work and are noticing some problems with Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat 8 on these new machines.  If a normal user is logged in to a Win 7 computer he/she cannot install, uninstall or update either adober reader x or Acrobat 8, they are met with the following error:
    Error 1324: The path to My Documents or the volume is invalid. Please enter it again
    This pops up immediatly when the choose to install.  All of our domain users are set up as local admins on their macines (Domain Users has been added to the local Adminstrators group).  The only way anyone can install or update without the errors is if we add them to the Domain Admins group which for obvious reasons we can't do.
    Any ideas?  I can't seem to find a solution for this searching online.

    Hi All,
    I am a brand new SharePoint admin for a school. Faculty/Staff access the site collection as well as the students. Faculty and Staff have higher rights than the students, and can add content as well as view them. 
    As the site collection administrator, I have added a html webpart and added html code to a subsite. (the code is simply hyperlinks that route to a different page when clicked, nothing complex).
    I made these changes and can view them properly as the site collection admin when I check in the site. I then signed out as the site collection admin, and signed in using a dummy student account. I went back to the same page where I made the changes, and
    cannot see them. 
    The url of the site is the same for both administrator/student. 
    Please see photos for a better understanding. 
    I want to edit the subsite and make these changes so everyone can see it.

  • After installing iOS8 only thing I can see is flashing Apple logo while charging

    After installing iOS8 on my Iphone5 battery life went really down and phone was getting really slow. All this happened within two days. Battery died with hours, until now it is showing only apple logo which is flashing while charging. Without charger plugged its totally dead, nothing on screen what so ever. Somehow I think iOS8 just killed my battery or it was some other kind of coincidence. No warranty also.
    Does anyone know how to proceed with this iphone now? Cannot connect to Itunes. When it started to act wierd I managed to do back up and factory reset to my phone, but it didnt helped.
    Does new battery can be solution? I could replace battery myself, but buying new battery without fix would be even bigger damage to my wallet.

  • I updated my iPod to the newest software and now my it keeps restarting. I can't view anything. The logo is the only thing I can see. I can't even turn it off.

    I hooked my iPod touch (4th generation) up today and it said that there was new software to be downloaded so I downloaded it. Everything seemed fine but when it was complete it restarted and restarted and is continuing to keep restarting. Has been for a good hour. I can't turn it off, restore or anything. What can I do?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

    I have installed and configed the ESS/XSS business package for ERP 2005 on EP7. It works when I assign the role to myself (as a portal superadmin), but not for non-portaladmin users. So obviously, it is a question about permissions.
    When I say "doesn' work" for normal portal users, I mean that I can load the overview page and other iviews just fine, but not webdynpro iviews that connect to the backend. The error is that the page continuously reloads.
    I have already given permissions in the portal PCD to the systems... so that is ok.
    But where can I give permissions for the webdynpros? Is is something to do with setting up security landscapes?

    First of all, the web dynpro application because of the framework and the functionality uses heavy load and sometimes crash the server if you do not have enough resources. In your case I know it didn't crash because other iviews work, I am saying this for you to have the performance in perspective.
    Now to debug your exact problem you can do a set of steps to trace back the problem. Look  <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/f4/1a1041a0f6f16fe10000000a1550b0/content.htm">here</a>
    and that should help to narrow down where the problem is.
