Optimizer not considering Means of transport cost

Hi,
I m working on SCM 7.0. I would like to choose source location based on some priority. I m mapping this scenario by maintaining means of transportation cost in T-lane. But when I am running optimizer, optimizer is choosing random source and also in log its not showing the MoT cost incurred after planning stock transfer.
Am I missing some setting?
Best regards,
Vaibhav

Hi Vaibhav,
Which optimization method are you using "Linear" or "Discrete " ?
There is a good documenttation for these at URL below:
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_scm70/helpdata/en/21/186b398c15ef59e10000000a114084/frameset.htm
I hope this will help.

  • Means of transport change update to SNC5.1

If we change the Means of trasport in r/3 sales order, then this update should be send to SNC5.1 Is this mapping is done thru ORDERCH ?
We have done ORDERSP mappings for order confirmation. Now issue is that when we do the change in r/3 sales order in means of transport that should be updated in SNC.
    Thx

    Hi Vaibhav
Means of transport is the basic master data and in general it is created in SNC system manually even though the data is available in SAP ERP
The behavior can be changed so that the SNC does not create means of transport  from SNC master data and the data should be picked from IDOC with the help of coding.
Now question is how many different means of transport does this customer have? I could imagine many resources, but means of transport is mostly just  a few
Upon which basis does the planner decide which means of transport should be taken???

  • Optimizer is not considering product storage cost

    Hi All,
After SNP Optimizer (lnr) completed Pln Ord are getting generated without considering 'prod storage cost'.
For example: If for certain FC is created on 10th of March, the pln ords r getting generated on 2nd of march...though the 'prod storage cost' are maintained in both the location (plant, customer). And the stock transfer is also happening early.
    Please help.
    Thanks,
                              Satyajit.

    Hi
Remember that the optimisation profile is not just a case of the effects of one parameter (unless you set a cost profile with all other parameters at 0). I would check the costs associated with the other items you have, for example is there a safety stock cost and setting in place, what is the difference in transportation costs versus storage costs etc etc.
It may well be that another cost, means it is cheaper to ignore the storage costs differential in your case and make the product earlier.
Also, you need to consider the "Bucket Offset" factor for both transportation and production, unfortunately, no matter what you set it to the Optimiser will always take a value of 1.00 for scheduling of order creation, in other words availability at the start of the bucket. See OSS Note 434197 which has a good explainantion of the bucket offset in a PDF file and also has some related notes for it:
    [Note 434197 - The Bucket Offset|https://websmp230.sap-ag.de/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/sapnotes/index2.htm?numm=434197&nlang=EN&smpsrv=https%3a%2f%2fwebsmp202%2esap-ag%2ede]
Oh, and as Sanjog says whilst a product is in transport it has no storage costs so may be cheaper to move it earlier and incur no storage for that period. However this behaviour can be changed by a COPT10 optimisation parameter but you will have to speak to SAP themselves to get the details of that one I'm afraid.

  • Safety days supply not followed due to change in Means of Transport in SNP

    Hello All,
I am facing a strange issue regarding the SNP heuristics and means of transport. We observed that the system was not respecting the safety days supply. For example if we had a receipt in bucket 'N' and there is a violation of safety days supply in bucket 'N-1'. When we un a heuristic ideally system should delete the receipt in bucket 'N' and create a new one in bucket 'N-1'.
But we observed that the system is retaining the existing receipt in bucket 'N' and also creating a new one in bucket 'N-1'. This is making the available days supply to increase manyfolds and the whole plan looks inconsistent from Safety Days point of view.
After analyzing the issue i observed that if we have existing receipts using a Means of Transport 'X'. Now if we run the heuristic using a Means of Transport 'Y' then the system doesnt touch the existing receipts. If I run teh heuristics using the existing Mean of Transport then it works absolutely fine.
    Kindly suggest.
    Regards,
    Abhi

    Hi,
when you check all products flag it means the means of transport is available for all products and not product specific, to select the MOT for SNP you need to check the aggrgtd plng flag.
Also safety stock has nothing to do with MOT, SNP heuristic plans based on checks the quota arrangement if its for multiple MOT it will distribute the PR based on the ratio in quota if both MOT are able to meet demand on time, otherwise it will violate quota till the time both MOT are not capable of meeting the demand on time.
If no quota is defined it will check for which lane is able to meet on time n if their are multiple lanes which can fulfill demand on time then it will choose MOT with less cost.
Have you got multiple MOT for a source destination combination to be considered for SNP heuristic?
Just check your design again and explain the problem again as this is not the standard expected behavior.
    Thanks,
    Sanjog

  • Setup time in means of transport ignored by TP/VS Optimizer

    Hello Gurus,
I have a requirement of having a break for vehicle resource after each trip to carry out certain routine activities. I have modeled setup time of 2:00 Hrs in means of transport  for this. However when I run the TP/VS optimizer, it plans two consecutive shipments without considering any setup time.
Any idea on how to achive this requirement?
    Regards
    Sandeep Patil

    Hi Sandeep.
In the transaportation lane, in the means of transport settings, there is one field u201CAddnl Retentn Per.u201D
Additional Stop Duration for a Transportation Lane (hhh:mm)
Did you think to use this ?
Additional Stop Duration for a Transportation Lane (hhh:mm)
The stop duration indicates the time that a means of transport is not in motion between two locations. It thus represents an addition to the duration of actual transportation. The duration of transportation represents the pure travelling time (working time, net transportation time), whereas the stop duration is defined as a gross time (that is, it relates to both the working time and the non-working time of the means of transport).

  • Target sost calculation not considered Current cost estimate in KKBC_ORD

    Hi All,
We have an case wherein it observed that target cost calculation on SFG is wrong
in KKBC_ORD where system does not considered the current cost estimate.
We have all the necessayry customisation in place for Target cost version 0 for current cost estimate.
    Below is detailsed case.
1 Process Order created in Dec 2011
2 Price Released to Mat master  on 01.01.2012
3 Goods movement,Operation confirmad Material Issues, FG qty delivered @ std cost 0n 04.01.2012
    4 Order Technically completed (TECO)
5 KKS1/KKS2 will be done at month end.
We know that In Process order, after deliver of FG the target cost on FG is not getting calculated, target cost will be updated only after calculating variance. it does
not calculate after delivery of finished goods, On Execution of KKS1/KKS2  variance will be calculated the target cost on FG and will be updated.
In process  order (COR3 --> Cost analysis) Target cost ,Actual cost and Planned cost are calculated based on the following:
Total Plan Cost = Std Cost the material required to Produce X Planned Qty of the required material
Target Cost = Std Cost the material planned to Produce X Std Qty of material required to produce, for Produced Actual Qty
Actual Cost = Std Cost the material planned to Produce X Actual Qty of material consumed, for Produced Actual Qty
The variance is calculated on SFG and assemblies based on the difference between actual and target cost in KKBC_ORD. During creation of process order, the plan cost
will be updated with the valid standard cost upon the creation.
The target cost on SFG and Assemblies is only generated when there is good receipt from production order into inventory.
The target cost is generated using the valid / recent costing run for the correspondence SFG in KKBc_ORD.
All other target costs showed in COR3 (Menu Go to > Costs > Analysis) or KKBC_ORD before doing KKS1/2 is only statistical- However in our case Traget cost calculated
on SFG in KKBC_ORD not relevant with current cost estimate.
However Actual cost and Planned cost Calculated correctly.
Actual Cost= Current Standard costof the materilal(5.624,88)X Actual Qty (13.693)=77.021,48
Planned cost= Std Cost the material required to Produce (6.572,12) X Planned Qty (12.415)= 81.592,87
However Target cost is not considering the current cost estimate; It should be - Current Standard cost of the materilal(5.624,88)X Target Qty(13.958,124)=78512.07.
But Errorneously Target cost is showing 67.383,59 which causing unfavorable variance to standard.
It should be 78512.07-77.021,48= 1490.59 favourable var to standard in KKBC_ORD.
Any help, suggestion and input would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks with Regards
    Subrata

    hi
target cost is your standard cost* actual confirmed quantity, not the standard quantity required
the variance calculated will be always  the actual debit to the production order- actual credit of the production order
your actual credit  for the process order is  std cost* actual quantity delivered to the inventory= Current Standard costof the materilal(5.624,88)X Actual Qty (13.693)=77.021,48
actual debit to the process order is total actual cost which you can see in COR3 report .
By the way for which period you have calculated variance, target cost will be calculated based on that months standard cost

  • Optimiser with means of transport

    Hi Experts,
Pls spend some time to understand the below requirement and the design.
Requirement- there are two plants, P1 and P2. Material M moves from P1 to P2 using a train R. The train can move 2100 tonnes in one trip.It takes 2 hrs to go from P1 to P2, hence it can make only 6 round trips between P1 and P2(i.e. 12 single trips) in a day. Hence APO should create only 6 orders in a particular day with max of 2100 tonnes as quantity for each order.
    Master data-
    Plants- P1, P2
    Material-M
    Resource(train)- R(bucket resource)
    Tlane- P1-->P2
There is one SNP planning book and there are two data views- daily and monthly
    System design
Max lot size for M at P2 is maintained as 2100
Max bucket capacity for the resource= 6*2100= 12,600
Means of transport for T Lane P1-->P2 is maintained as 'All products'. Transportation duration is set as 2 hrs
Product specific means of transport is maintained for M, with consumption as 12 Tonnes
    Results-
There is a requirement of M at P2 for 12,800 Tonnes. Stock of M at P1 is 12,800 Tonnes
When I run optimiser on monthly view- it creates 6 orders with 2100 qty and one order with 200 qty, but all on one day-violating the rule of 6 orders only in one day
when I run optimiser on daily view- it creates 6 orders with 2100 qty in one day and one order of 200 qty on the next day
    Query-
1.Why do we need prod spec means of transport when the means of transport is defined as 'All products'
    2. What is the use of maintaining consumption as 12 Tonnes
    3. If I just go by transportation duration of 2 hrs, so the train makes 24/2=12 single trips, or 6 round trips. Hence 6 orders should get created with 2100 tonnes each in a day. But this does not happen and no planning happens in this case
4.Why do I get different planning results when I use daily and monthly bucket views
Would be very helpful to analyse the design and the concepts if someone can give some pointer
    Regards
    Manotosh

    Hi Kaushik,
Thank you so much for your prompt reply and help. However I still have some query.
1.As per my understanding we do not actually need prod spec MOT when all prod incator is there.I think some older versions of optimizer do not consider all prod tlane (I am not too sure abt it).But if all the prods for a specific plant can not be transferred through same MOT then it is required. Also if the res comsumption and the cost is different then also it is required.
                 - Your justification to have a separate MOT is absolutely valid as long as we need different MOT for any reason(cost, duration etc). But here there is only one product M being transferred between P1 and P2.
    2. Resource capacity will define the capacity in terms of total transportation capacity and consumption is required to do the planning.Like if the consumption is not maintained the capacity becomes as infinite. So there will be more than 12600 tons transported.
               - We define the resource max capacity and the utilisation. If the utilisation is more than 100%, I understand that it will try to supply more than 12,600 tonnes. But here the utilisation is maintained as 100%. What will happen if I maintain consumption as 10 Tonnes or 10 BBL or anything other than 12 T as currently maintained?
3.There is a difference between scheduling and capacity. When you say 2 hrs but parallaly another tran can also go and transportation can happen. But when you define resource and capacity then you restrict the same. This is constrain plng but that duration of 2 hrd will not put any contraints.
           - The transportation resource is assigned to the T Lane. Hence whenever the T Lane is used, only the same resource is used for transportation. Hence we can not have more than one resource(R) acting simultaneously.
4.If you see the results are same only difference is the period.Check the resource capacity view.I think you can see the capacity planned correctly and also the monthly view check the strt and end date.
           - As per the concept, SNP does bucket planning. Hence it will consolidate all the demands in a bucket and would create orders for the qty equal to the demand qty either at the begining of the bucket or middle of the bucket or end of the bucket. It will split the orders based on lot size or any other parameters defined. Hence I am getting multiple orders with 2100 qty(Max lot size) on 1st of the month. But the resource capacity is overshot in this case.

  • Optimizer not picking preferred vendor out of multiple contracts

We need to use outline agreements in APO. We are doing the following:
CIFing the outline agreement(s) to APO
T-lane(s) created from Vendor to destination location
    Running Optimizer
Purchase requisitions created with suitable source of supply.
    Problem:
If there are more than single vendors for a material , there is a preferred vendor that needs to be picked by the system. We set the t-lane priorities acc. to preferred vendor and it works fine with heuristic. But for optimizer, we are not able to determine a method for the system to determine the preferred vendor and pick it during optimizer run.
Could you please share your thoughts or best practices regarding above.
    Thanks.

    Thanks Umesh..
I tried with transportation cost and it is working fine... but then how do we be sure that optimizer would work as expected because it tries to find an optimal solution with minimum
overall cost (that includes all the costs).
    Plz advise.

  • Basis of picking means of transport in APO

Please help me in understanding basis of picking means of transport in APO and what is the link between R/3 means of transport and APO means of transport.
    Manish

In R/3 the means of transport is recorded in Shipment document. It contains all the information necessary for carrying out transportation. The means of transport necessary for a shipment is reflected in the system as a handling unit. These handling units contain information about tare weight and -volume of the means of transport as well as the weight of the packed handling unit. Information about the country providing the means of transport, details about the driver and travel time are also included in these handling units. Handling units that have already been created for delivery items are copied into the shipment document where they can be packed further, if necessary. Delivery items that have only been partially packed or not packed at all can be packed in the shipment documents.
In APO the means of transport is planned in TPVS. If the client do not have TPVS implemented, the means of transport are taken based on the locations, products and cost as well.
The difference between the R/3 and APO means of transport I see is that in APO there is product specific means of transport wherein we can assign the means of transport for specific products based on its demand or perishability. For example, if we have a Tlane between US and Ind, the possible means of transport could be by AIR or by Water. For a product which is a primary and active product for a company, the means of transport can be assigned as Air rather by water.

  • Means Of Transport Combination in TP/VS

    Hi,
I created a means of transport combination which consists of one active unit and a trailer. I can load it by running the opt. profile succesfully.
The problem is, the active means of transport can not be used without the trailer anymore. I can load it manually, but the optimization run does not take it into account. If i choose the resources of that means of transport as the only available resources, i get the error message "Error creating model".
    Is this a customising problem?
Thanks in advance or your replies.

    Tibor,
I checked the note, all the corrections have already been installed.
    Sanjog,
The detld planning flag is already checked in the master data.
Thank you both but the problem still exists.

    Hi
Please follow instructions from note 840007
For the above-mentioned requests, special scale bases were set up in the
    shipment cost processing:
o  Transaction T_06: Maintain all mandatory fields in the
           corresponding condition type as usual.
o  Now go to the 'Scales for conditions' screen.
           1) To determine the total duration, enter the following in the
           'Ref' column
Scale base T0 (according to F4 help).
           2) To determine the travel time, enter the following in the 'Ref'
           column
Scale base T1 (according to F4 help).
           3) To determine the queue time, enter the following in the 'Ref'
           column
Scale base T2 (according to F4 help).
o  Save this entry and go back to the Conditions Overview; now there
is a 'T' (=multidimensional) in the 'Calculation type' field and
in the 'Matrix maintenance' field, there is a '1'
                                                                     Page 2
(1-dimensional). This is necessary so that the corresponding
shipment cost specific functions will run.
o  Now save the condition overview as well.
o  Transaction VS01: Now maintain a scale with
           1) Scale base = 'T0' (Tab title 'Scale') and
Calculation type = 'T0' (Tab title 'Calculatn')
           2) Scale base = 'T1' (Tab title 'Scale') and
Calculation type = 'T1' (Tab title 'Calculatn')
           3) Scale base = 'T2' (Tab title 'Scale') and
Calculation type = 'T2' (Tab title 'Calculatn')
           and define the scale values.
o  Transaction TK11: Assign the scale of your condition type that
you have just created, maintain the freight rates and save the
           condition record(s).
During the shipment cost calculation, the time-related condition should
    be calculated.
Note: to receive a result < > 0, you must maintain the above-mentioned
fields in the shipment; in this case header-relevant and item-relevant
shipment costs (KOSTY = A   B) are distinguished between and the
corresponding fields are used in the shipment (VTTK~ or VTTS~).

    Ramana

  • Transportation costs to appear in sd pricing during billing

    Dear Gurus
    Consider the following scenario.
There is a plant in Bombay which sells material to a customer in Hyderabad. The order is valued at Rs100.
During physical despatch (shipment), the freight cost is known to be Rs 120 (shipment cost)
At the time of billing (VF01), freight cost should be charged to customer. i.e. - the necessary freight condition values should appear in pricing procedure in billing document.
That means the net value of billing document should be Rs220 and this amount should be posted in FI.
    Kindly help with this
    Regards
    SDC

    Dear SD Consultant,
1.The documentation says that in Commercial pricing procedure (V/08) these condition types should be marked manually. Why?
-->If you maintain condition type as mandetory system will get the value automatically from the condition record or it will through the error.
-->If you maintain condition type as manual system will copy the freight cost from the shipment cost document based on the copy control settings.
2.Secondly, the indicator specific pricing procedure in Commercial pricing procedure (V/08) must be selected so that the condition class and the statistical indicator are redetermined and are not copied from the shipment cost pricing procedure. Can you explain this more in detail ?
-->The condition class and the statistical indicator are maintained in the Shipment cost pricing procedure for those condition types ,but while copying, those indicators will not get copy from the shipment cost pricing procedure so they are telling that maintain those indicators(SAME) for that condition type ZFRE in the commercial invoice pricing procedure.
3.The documentation says that the price source field in copy control from Delivery to Billing should be set as F (Shipment costs) for the respective item. Please explain this in detail.
-->Go to transaction VTFL then select your delivery type and invoice type then click on item then select item category go in to details hare you can find field Price source enter "F" - Shipment cost.
The conclusion is only Cost will be copied no condition types or any other settings not copied so we need to define same condition types and maintain same settings in the condition types to identification of shipment cost and to post the accounting.
I hope it will make you clear,
    Regards,
    Murali.

  • Transportation cost before the reception of the material in MIGO (Stock in transit)

Does it exist a way to make a reception of materials in transit and post the transportation cost before the reception of the material in MIGO ?
The  material is own of company before to be receipt in plant.  We need to pay the transportation before that material is arrived at plant.
As the value is an important cost, we need that this cost be linked with the cost of the material.  We can put a condition, but it does not work if the material in not receipt in MIGO.  We can enter a subsequent debit memo, but the invoice of the reception should be enter in the system and by the way the reception too.  So how should we process to link the transportation cost with the material if this material is not received at plant and by the way in MIGO.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
As of my knowledge, system will allow to process the shipment document - create shipment cost document and vendor invoice also, even before doing GR for the PO. Please check the scenario and revert back if you are getting any error.
If you want the shipment cost as delivery cost, refer the note: 427944 - Info: Shipment costs as delivery costs during goods receipt
