ORA-01555 & ORA-00704

After restoring a cold backup I tried to start the DB and got the below mentioned error,
ERROR at line 1:

In alert log,

    Hi Guys
I am facing issues with Offline backup in Production system.
I had Scheduled the offline backup for sunday evening, but monday morning i found prodution box, was down and i killed the netbackup Process.
    checked Oracle was up.
Just started SAP and system start running fine.
Then found that backup (offline backup) was never started.
Found following errors in alert_<sid>.log and in *.trc files:
    ORA-00704: bootstrap process failure
ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1
ORA-01089: immediate shutdown in progress - no operations are permitted

Can you guide me on this, as this has happened second time ?
    Regards

Your database was trying to shut down, but in was hanging for some reason.
not much can be done, you are using Oracle 9207, try with 9208
you ware on an unsupported Windows 2000 version.

  • 32bit Primary to 64bit Standby-"ORA-00704: bootstrap process failure"

    Hello All,
As per the Doc ID 414043.1 it is possible to use mixed word size primary-standby configurations since 10g and better in 11g.
So i created my test env:-
    OS: Linux 5.5 64bit
    DB Name: TEST
    Primary  - TEST32 on 32bit Oracle Home
Standby-  TEST64 on 64bit Oracle Home
I could apply TEST32's archive logs(manually) on TEST64 without any problem, but when i tried to migrate to 64bit it kept failed with "ORA-00704: bootstrap process failure ORA-39700: database must be opened with UPGRADE option"
What i did on TEST64 is:
    1) Activate physical standby
    2) Startup Upgrade
    3)@?/rdbms/admin/utlirp.sql
    4)@?/rdbms/admin/utlrp.sql
    5)Shutdown
    6)Startup
When i issue startup(step 6); it fails with

  • ORA-00704: bootstrap process failure and SYSTEM datafile corrupt

We have an Oracle 10g Express database that is getting the following error on startup.
    ORA-00704: bootstrap process failure
It is also showing that the SYSTEM datafile is corrupt. And unfortunately the backups are gone. Is there any way to recover from this without a backup? Maybe some hidden undocumented parameter???
We do have some full database exports from a couple weeks ago so it is not a complete loss but would really like a full recover.

    Windows XP
We have tried allowresetlogs_corruption and allowread_only_corruption and no luck so far.

  • ORA-01555 thrown at DB Startup

    Hello guys :)
We have the following situation on one of our test DBs. We are trying to open a DB after restore from hot backup with no archivelogs. The situation is rather interesting, since we don't have a prerequisite for 100% data consistency. We just need to open up the DB after the restore.
The restore finishes and now comes the tricky part. When we try to open the DB it throws the obvious "You need more recovery" error. OK, we startup nomount and recreate the controlfile. Still you need more DB recovery. OK, next option was putting this line in the init file
    ALLOWRESETLOGS_CORRUPTION=TRUE
We can now open resetlogs! Yes, but no!
alter database open resetlogs; crashes with ORA-01555
    Tue Aug 17 22:11:17 2010
ORA-01555 caused by SQL statement below (SQL ID: 4krwuz0ctqxdt, Query Duration=1282072277 sec, SCN: 0x0012.8c929e0c):

ORA-1092 signalled during: alter database open resetlogs...
So, next guess is to put this in the init file:
    corruptedrollback_segments=('_SYSSMU19$')
and try to open up again.
Have you ever tried such an approach and succeeded? Any suggestions and comments are greatly appreciated :)

    Beco wrote:
Do you think putting the rollback segment offline and after that dropping it may help?
It is just a suggestion, but if does not work I will have to restore the DB again :) So any thoughts?Dear Beco ,I can not say exactly what happen after implement offlinerollback_segments parameter.
I before say there are two problem. When recovery process oracle need request(need get information of undo) undo tablespace. But undo segment actually corrupted therefore you got this error. To testing purpose you need on ly apply this one parameter(hidden) only one(in this case). You say that is test db then create new test db and shutdown abort then move online log to other location. Then you can implement ALLOWRESETLOGS_CORRUPTION.But never implement these parameters production database.

    Hi there.
I've just applied patch 6890831 and now the database fails to open. I'm using Oracle 11.1.0.6 on Windows Vista.
It's installed on my laptop, having 2.5gz Dual and 4gb RAM
    Here's a partial of the ALERT_LOG file:

    Hi..
As you have applied patch, did you try to open the database as
    sql> startup upgrade.
There musy be some files that needs to be run.
Better read the README.HTML of the patch and follow the steps.
If eveythig is done correctly and then also ORA-600 persist better raise SR to Oracle Support.
For ORA-600 you can refer to metalink Doc ID: 356537.1

  • When trying to create new DB ORA-01109 ORA-01092

    Hi all,
When I try to create a new database on a two-node clustered machine using dbca and the "General Purpose" template, it returns ORA-01109 ORA-01092 errors.
    Following is what I did:
    1. Installed Oracle 10 Release 2 on the two Oracle Enterprise Linux 4.5 nodes
    2. Installed patch set 3 (upgrade from 10.2.0.1 to 10.2.0.4)
    3. Installed Oracle clusterware on both nodes
    4. Installed ASM instance
    5. when I used the dbca to create a new db, it returns DB ORA-01109 ORA-01092
I guess, the reason is that the seed of the "General Purpose" template was not upgraded by the patch set. If this is the case, my questions are:
*(1) Why the patchset didn't upgrade the template seeds? Is it a bug?*
*(2) How to upgrade the template seeds?*

what can i do to solve this problem. thanks for your all helps.

    hi,
i ran dbca and i selected "General Purpose". then i have written Global Database Name and SID. then i checked "Configure the Database with Enterprise Manager" and selected "Use Databse Control for Database Management" and i clicked Next. then i have written same Password for All Accounts. then select "File System" option. then i selected "Use Common Location for All Database Files" option (not select "Use Database File Locations from Template" option) and i have written "{ORACLE_BASE}/oradata" for Database Files Location and i clicked next. then i checked "Specify Flash Recovery Area" for "Choose the recovery options for the database" page (already default values for this page) and clicked next. then default values for next page and i clicked next. then default values for next page(memory, sizing, character sets, connection mode tabs) and i clicked next. and then i clicked Finish button. and when processing %40, i have an error called by ORA-01092.
wonder in a place I do wrong??? i wonder, did i make a mistake at setup the oracle 10gR2 and patch? but setup has succeeded.
I need your help to overcome this problem... thanks for your all helps

I just opened my database : startup upgrade and it started up.
But couldn't perform a backup. As you said you have started the DB in upgrade mode and trying to take the backup of database. I think you can't take the backup of DB in upgrade mode. Please shut it down first and start up it in normal mode and do the backup.
Which backup strategy you are following?
What you exactly want to do upgrade the database or trying to take a bcakup?
