ORA-6512: at "SYS.OWM_DDL_PKG" line 3228
I am using Oracle Workspace Manager Version 9.2.0.7, as my process
attempts to perform DBMS_WM.BeginDDL on a versioned table, i am getting the following error:
ORA-6512: at "SYS.OWM_DDL_PKG" line 3228
ORA-6512: at "SYS.LT", line 11831
ORA-6512: at line 1
Any suggestions on what might be the cause of this problem?
Thanks!!
No, I would need a lot more information to be able to determine what the cause of the problem is. Are you able to create a testcase that easily reproduces the problem ? If so, feel free to post it here, or create a TAR with the necessary information.

Ben

Receive ORA-06512 in SYS.OWM_DDL_PKG on DBMS_WM.BeginDDL call
I'm attempting to DBMS_WM.BeginDDL on a versioned table, and I receive the following:
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-06512: at "SYS.OWM_DDL_PKG", line 2569
ORA-06512: at "SYS.LT", line 11143
ORA-06512: at line 1
Any ideas on where this is coming from?
Thanks.Hi,
This could be a couple of things.
If the table has a domain index, make sure that the user has the 'create table' and 'create sequence' privileges.
If that is not the case, this is most likely one of a couple of issues with beginDDL that has already been identified and fixed in the workspace manager 9.2.0.3.0 release. This kit is available on Metalink.

Upgrade oracle 9.2.0.8.0 to 10.2.03. while runing catupgrd.sql script. i am geting error.
SELECT version_script AS file_name FROM DUAL
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-20000: Upgrade not supported from version
ORA-06512: at "SYS.VERSION_SCRIPT", line 52
Please help me.
ATStrange. Metalink doc 316889.1 says you should be able to upgrade following versions directly to 10.2.0.3.0
8.1.7.4 -> 10.2.X.X.X
9.0.1.4 or 9.0.1.5 -> 10.2.X.X.X
9.2.0.4 or higher -> 10.2.X.X.X
10.1.0.2 or higher -> 10.2.X.X.X
Not too sure but may be you need to contact Oracle support. -

I have a PLSQL program that performs an HTTP POST to fetch data from an external website. The website is returning the contents of a file in the HTTP response. This program has been working for years and just started giving us trouble recently at a particular client. The issue cannot be reproduced locally, only on a specific client machine when trying to download a particular set of XML files through this HTTP interface.
The stack trace is:

UTL_HTTP.READ_TEXT(v_HTTP_RESP, v_TEXT, 8192);
...Any thoughts?
I have used a packet sniffer, Wireshark, to monitor the HTTP traffic between the website and database during the issue. There is nothing malformed with the Response content. No special chars that I can find. Etc.
The machine in question that is failing is running 10gR2.
I have done some searching and I found this forum post:
utl_http.read_text and multi-byte support
and this Oracle bug:
https://support.oracle.com/CSP/main/article?cmd=show&type=BUG&id=4015165&productFamily=Oracle
Not really much help.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
GatorPaul
Edited by: 939368 on Jun 7, 2012 2:27 PMIn this case, and most cases, the NLS_LENGTH_SEMANTICS is set to 'BYTE'. Realize that this is an Oracle application that we deploy into an external customer environment and we do not always have the ability to control NLS Settings.
So, based on your explanation, I would expect that an approach like this would fix it:
v_TEXT VARCHAR2(32766);
UTL_HTTP.READ_TEXT(v_HTTP_RESP, v_TEXT, 8192);
Here we are saying, get the next 8192 characters, but put that into a buffer that allows up to 32K bytes. This should allow for the enough room for up to 4 bytes per character. Am I understanding you correctly?
But here is my question:
I put a fix in place today, where I increased both the v_TEXT byte size and the GET_TEXT 'len' parameter to 32766 and it fixed the issue. By doing that, I am telling it: Give me the next 32766 characters and put it into a VARCHAR2(32766). Given your explanation, I would expect this to overflow the v_TEXT variable as well, or at least have the potential to do so.
We were processing 5 different XML responses. They were all failing originally. After the change, they all passed. Their sizes were 47K, 21K, 14K, 48K, and 21K. If the XML file was small, < 32K then maybe is slipped under the radar given the new buffer size of 32766. But what about the 2 files that were over 32K. Very curious on your thoughts. I did not have a loop counter in there to see how many times it was looping to parse the 48K file. With a new buffer size of 32K I would expect it to loop 2x. But, I know in this case, the file was streamed over the network using 14 smaller TCP packets, none of which were more than 9000 bytes. Maybe the PLSQL looped 14 times as well.
When the process was failing for all 5 files, I do know at that time it was always failing on the first loop (first 8192 characters).
Anyway, Thanks for the advice. I will let you guys know if I uncover anymore info.

Ora-06502:pl/sql and ora-06512 at sys.owa_util errors
Greetings -
I have just installed APEX 2.2 in my 9.2.0.7 database and am going through the exercises in the "2 Day+ Application Express Developer's Guide." I was making good progress, until I got to Chapter 5, How to Control Form Layout. I created the script "ht_emp", as instructed. Everything in the script works, except for the "create or replace trigger bi_ht_emp" part. It fails with the following errors:
ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error ORA-06512: at "SYS.OWA_UTIL", lone 328 ORA-06512: at "SYS.HTP", line 862 ORA-06512: at "SYS.HTP", line 977 ORA-06512: at "SYS.HTP", line 995 ORA-06512: at "FLOWS_020200.WWV_FLOW_SW_API", line 428 ORA-01003: no statement parsed. I have confirmed that nls_length_semantics = BYTE
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance - GailScott -
Here's the part of the script that chokes --
CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER bi_ht_emp

ORA-6512 when using Analyze in 9.2.0.7
Good Day! Kindly Help
I'm using 9.2.0.7 on Windows server 2003 SP1.
Whenever I use the Analyze Wizard located on Oracle EM Console, just to compute statistics for a certain table, the ff is the query that is executed:
begin dbms_stats.gather_table_stats(ownername=>'ECI'.tabname=>'AGGREGATEENTITY',partname=>NULL);
it produces the ff error:
ORA-20000:Unable to analyze TABLE "ECI"."AGGREGATEENTITY", insufficient priviledges or does not exist
ORA-06512: at"SYS.DBMS_STATS", LINE 10292
ORA-06512: at"SYS.DBMS_STATS", LINE 10315
ORA-06512: at line 2
It produces the same error for only one of my schema. Oh by the way I'm using user SYS as sysdba to do this.You doesn't seem to have privileges to analyze the table. You would either be needing ANALYZE ANY privilege (or others....can't remember).
HTH
Thanks

Hey Guys, it's Xev.
I decide to use SQL and XML and it works in one scenario, but in another scenario, it doesn't.
Here is the Code, I am passing in two variables, First, I pass in the table_name and then i pass in the schema.
If I am doing this with the "user" connected and it's looking in it's own schema, it's find the results, like so, but if i try to execute this code while not
connected to the same user i am searching on i get this error.
ORA-19202: Error occurred in XML processing
ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_XMLGEN", line 288
ORA-06512: at line 1
19202. 00000 - "Error occurred in XML processing%s"
*Cause: An error occurred when processing the XML function
*Action: Check the given error message and fix the appropriate problem
This code works only of you are connected to the user that you are searching on.
But if you search for another user tables, it's blows up and gives the XML error above...
SET SERVEROUTPUT ON
exec DBMS_OUTPUT.ENABLE(1000000);
VAR search_string VARCHAR2(28)
EXEC :search_string := '^[0-9]{3}-[0-9]{2}-[0-9]{4}$'
COLUMN "Searchword" FORMAT A28
COLUMN "Table" FORMAT A9
COLUMN "Column/Value" FORMAT A50
SELECT DISTINCT SUBSTR (:search_string, 1, 28) "Searchword",
SUBSTR (table_name, 1, 14) "Table",
SUBSTR (t.column_value.getstringval (), 1, 50) "Column/Value"
FROM dba_tab_cols,
--where owner = ('&SCHEMA_NAME')
TABLE
(XMLSEQUENCE
(DBMS_XMLGEN.GETXMLTYPE
( 'SELECT ' || column_name ||
' FROM ' || table_name ||
' WHERE REGEXP_LIKE
(' || column_name || ','''
|| :search_string || ''')'
).extract ('ROWSET/ROW/*'))) t
--WHERE table_name IN ('FIND_TEST')
WHERE table_name = upper('&TABLE_NAME')
AND OWNER = upper('&SCHEMA_NAME')
ORDER BY "Table"
Can someone please explain how (DBMS_XMLGEN) works, and why it's throwing that error??
thanks,
Xev.It has nothing to do with DBMS_XMLGEN.GETXMLTYPE. It simply means user executing your SQL has no select privilege on table &SCHEMA_NAME.&TABLE_NAME.

Was working on tutorial from the:
Oracle Database Express Edition 2 Day Plus Application Express Developer Guide
Working on the section 4: How to Control Form Layout.
Ran into a problem trying to compile the Create HT-EMP Table script.
keep getting this error for this particular segment creating the bu_ht_emp trigger:
pp. 4-2 and 4-3
CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER bi_ht_emp
BEFORE INSERT ON ht_emp
FOR EACH ROW
BEGIN
SELECT ht_emp_seq.nextval
INTO :new.emp_id
FROM DUAL;
:new.rec_create_date := SYSDATE;
END;
ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error ORA-06512: at "SYS.OWA_UTIL", line 354....etc
I've check the syntax for the entire script and it all checks out. Does anyone have a clue why this is failing?If I'm looking at the same DDL, not seeing where it would throw an owa_util error, are you running it in the apex script editor?
Just plain sqlplus doesn't like the empty line stuck in with the list of check constraints on the emp_dept column, after fixing that up (and dropping the sequence that got created on the first pass) the DDL and insert runs fine- -

Error - ORA-06512: at "SYS.OWA_UTIL" - when trying to download files.
Hi, I have an application where I try to implement download of the attachments.
I am trying to use Denes Kubicek approach
http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=31517:15:4179200867819025:REMOVE_ID:NO::P15_DELETE_ID:4672033519340628563.
When I run stored procedure I get this error message.
ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error
ORA-06512: at "SYS.OWA_UTIL", line 356
ORA-06512: at "SYS.HTP", line 1368
ORA-06512: at "SYS.HTP", line 1443
ORA-06512: at "SYS.OWA_UTIL", line 413
ORA-06512: at "RPA.LOADATTACHMENT", line 24
ORA-06512: at line 6
The code breaks at :
OWA_UTIL.mime_header (NVL (v_mime, 'application/octet'), FALSE);
Does anybody have any idea why it breaks?
Thanks in advance.
Robert
Edited by: robik on 2-Feb-2011 5:58 AMActually, the error comes up when I try to execute any of these lines:
OWA_UTIL.mime_header (NVL (v_mime, 'application/octet'), FALSE);
-- set the size so the browser knows how much to download
HTP.p ('Content-length: ' || v_length);
-- the filename will be used by the browser if the users does a save as
HTP.p ( 'Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="'
|| REPLACE (REPLACE (SUBSTR (v_file_name,
INSTR (v_file_name, '/') + 1
CHR (10),
NULL
CHR (13),
NULL
|| '"'
Is there any security issue?
