Oracle 10.2.0.1 Standard Edition on Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2 German vers.

Hi,
We got a "strange" error installing Oracle db on MS win Ser 2003. When the installation procedure created the database it stopped with Ora-604 and Ora-2248. My first thought was the language problem but I'm not sure.
Below you'll see the trace.log
If anyone can give me a clue, it would most appreciated !
Thanks a lot,
Jacques

Yes, there's a known problem, not with german language, but with territory Switzerland, see on metalink:
ORA-604 / ORA-02248 WITH NLS_LANG SET TO TERRITORY SWITZERLAND
Doc ID: 334481.1
ORA-02248 is only the last error, you have others:
StepErrorHandler.setFatalErrors:322 setting Fatal Error: ORA-01092
Thread-3 12:33:59:88 StepErrorHandler.setFatalErrors:322 setting Fatal Error: ORA-01034
Thread-3 12:33:59:88 StepErrorHandler.setFatalErrors:322 setting Fatal Error: ORA-03114
Thread-3 12:33:59:88 StepErrorHandler.setFatalErrors:322 setting Fatal Error: ORA-12560
Thread-3 12:33:59:88 StepErrorHandler.setIgnorableErrors:250 setting Ignorable Error: ORA-01109
Not sure whether this related to the same problem. As a workaround you may change the territory, for example to GERMANY. If that works you hit the bug mentioned in the metalink not. Normally NLS_LANG is set in the registry.

  • Problem installing Oracle 8i(8.1.7) standard edition on windows 2000 server

    I am trying to install Oracle 8i (8.1.7) standard edition on windows 2000 server but the setup program doesn't run.
    It starts up, allocates some ram then closes before a window even pops up.
    I also have MSSQL server installed on this computer, does that conflict?
    Has anyone encountered this problem before? If so, please give a solution if you have one, thanks,
    OPS

    Yes. There is a bug with Pent4, Win2000 & Oracle8i.
    Here is the workaround:
    This is a known bug with Oracle java-based applications and Pentium 4 Use this work-around:
    1) Copy the install directory from the CD to the hard disk.
    2) Edit oraparam.ini and modify it as follows:
    * Edit the "SOURCE=" line to to show the full path to the CD ; SOURCE={CD DRIVE LETTER}:\stage\products.jar)
    * Edit the "JRE_LOCATION" line to show the full path to the CD ;
    JRE_LOCATION={CD DRIVE
    LETTER}:\stage\Components\oracle\swd\jre\1.1.7\1\DataFiles\Expanded)
    * Edit the "OUI_LOCATION" line to show the full path to the CD ;
    OUI_LOCATION={CD DRIVE
    LETTER}:\stage\Components\oracle\swd\oui\1.6.0.9.0\1\DataFiles\Expanded
    * Edit the "JRE_MEMORY_OPTIONS" line to include "-nojit" as the first argument ;
    JRE_MEMORY_OPTIONS=-nojit
    -ms16m -mx32m
    3) Start setup.exe from your hard drive
    Choose a Custom install and choose not to create a database during the install.
    This way, the Database
    Configuration Assistant will not be launched during installation. DONT SELECT
    NET8 products for installation.
    You need to put the same java parameters for the DB configurator and the Net8
    Configurator
    to run.
    -nojit -ms16m -mx32m before -classpath on:
    * assistants\dbca\DBAssist.cl
    * network\tools\netca.cl
    ** Run the DataBaseConfigurationAssistant and NetworkConfigurationAssistant after installation.
    Hope it helps!

  • Installing Oracle 11gR2 Standard Edition on WINDOWS Server 2008R2 with ASM

    Hi,
    I want to setup Oracle 11g DB (11.2.0.2) Standard Edition on Windows Server 2008R2 x64 bit with ASM Instance. I would appreciate if you could suggest me with the following little but important questions.
    The following link from Oracle doesnt have 11.2.0.2 db version for windows x64 bit. Do a patch (which I think is a complete installation) is needed to install after installing 11.2.0.1? or I can directly install 11.2.0.2?
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downloads/112010-win64soft-094461.html
    Secondly, I have no such experience regarding installing and setting up ASM Instance on windows. How many disks or etc is needed for ASM (as ASM disks). One of the admin guy said, he has 6 disks (2 for OS and 6 you can use for Oracle or ASM so so). Could you please suggest, how should I divide the disk partitions of what should I say no idea :(
    Also, do ASM instance (diskgroups,disks) should be setup before creating DB (through dbca?)
    I was thinking like:
    - Installing Oracle software
    - Creating ASM disks,diskgroups,instance,etc
    - Creating DB (using dbca?), isnt' it?
    Bundle of thanks in advance.
    Best Regards

    Please help As i am running out of time as i have to upgrade TFS for that first step is to install SQL server.

    Hello,
    The following are a few things you can try:
    Copy the media to the local disk drive, unzip it (in case you are installing from an ISO file, and run SQL Server setup from there.
    Try to unregister and register the Windows Installer with the following two commands:
    msiexec /unregister
    msiexec /regserver
    Try to use Process Monitor to log the detailed error produced when the installation of dw20sharedamd64.msi fails. You can download Process Monitor from the following link:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645
    Share with us the error captured by Process Monitor.
    Hope this helps.

  • Migrate oracle 10.2.0.5.0 enterprise on windows server 2003 32bit to Linux

    Hello,
    I am trying to find any white paper regarding the benefits of migrating oracle database from windows server 2003 32bit
    to RedHat linux server 64bit.
    The current db version on windows is 10.2.0.5.0
    The new version on linux will be 11.2.0.3.0
    If anyone crossed such a white paper describing the pros & cons for such a migration..
    Thanks alot.
    Edited by: user7320646 on Jan 9, 2013 5:45 AM

    John makes some very good points but I would like to clarify one thing from his post: you are planning three migrations:
    1. From 32bit -> 64bit
    2. From Windows to Linux
    3. From Oracle 10gR2 to 11gR2
    The second of these is the one most liekly to give you grief. You certainly should not attempt to combine it with a database upgrade. Either move the database to RHEL and then upgrade it, or upgrade it on Windows and then move it to the new server.
    Of these, the first is the least controversial. So it's a nice point whether it is worth upgrading from Windows 32bit to Windows 64bit prior to moving to Linux.

  • Oracle R12 EBS Forms not getting invoked in Windows server 2003

    Hi,
    I have installed Oracle EBS R12 in my personal laptop with Win2003 server as base OS. Until all these days I was able to launch the forms and work on EBS without any issues.
    Today when I tried to login in and open a form, the system is just not responding. It is not launching the form applet. I checked the Java options and everything remain correct. My internet explorer settings are also proper and no firewall is existing. JRE version installed is 1.6.0_07. I even tried invoking test form from Oracle Forms options, but no form was launched.
    The same issue happened a month before and I ended up installing Oracle again. However, I dont want to go to that option and requesting your valuable help to get this fixed.
    Java console log is as mentioned below. Kindly check and help me getting this issue fixed.

    Asif,
    Finally I got the issue fixed. Did not download Java or any JRE version; because, the available version itself was Java 6 and the JRE version was 1.6.0_07.
    The issue seems to be that, if the 'JRE Auto-Download' in Java control panel is set to 'Always Auto-Download' then java is trying to use the latest version available in their server. I then changed the setting to point to 'Prompt User' and tried opening a form and it worked!!!
    Sounds like a solution to this issue and hope it doesn't recur. Will keep posted if I face any. Thanks for your help!
    Navigation:
    DO NOT TRY TO CLEANUP OR RE-INSTALL JAVA. TRY THE BELOW BEFORE YOU PERFORM SUCH THINGS.
    Step1: Clear all cache and cleanup the history/temp memory in your browsers.
    Step2: Close all your browsers (IE, Netscape, Chrome, Mozilla etc).
    Step3: Check if your Java version is SE6 and JRE is pointing to version 1.6. You can check this in Java control panel -> General and Java tab respectively.
    Step3: Control Panel --> Java (DClick) --> Go to Advanced tab --> expand "JNLP File/MIME Association" and "JRE Auto-Download" --> Select "Prompt User" in both and "Apply"
               In addition to this have the "Debugging" option enabled and "Show console" in the same tab.
    Step4: Open IE and login to Oracle Apps. Click on any form. now Java will enable and you will be able to see the console messages. In a few moments(depending on your system speed), the forms should be displayed.
    If this doesn't fix the issue, then copy paste the entire console message and post a question in this forum for help. Enjoy your EBS!!

  • Slow work Oracle 10gR2 on Windows server 2003 Standart SP2

    Hi!
    I have a problem when i migrating from my old server to new one..
    Old server:
    Windows 2003 SP2 + Oracle 10gR2
    CPU Pentium 4 2.4
    RAM 2 GB
    DISK 2 x RAID 1 (one for systen and instance another for data files)
    On this system i have disk I/O about 35 - 45 mb per sec.
    New server:
    Windows 2003 SP2 x86 + Oracle 10gR2 x86
    CPU 2 x Xeon Dual Core 1.6
    RAM 4 GB
    DISK 1 x RAID 1(system and instance) 1 x RAID 10 (4 disks SATA) (data files).
    When i create tablespace i have disk I/O (EM) about 35 mb/sec and when i try to load data in my new databae (i am using Data Pump import) i have I/O 1 mb/sec. How can i solve this problem?
    When i runing Sisoft Sandra i get a result ~100mb/sec. But the ORION get me a very small result aproximetly the same as in old server.

    I don't think that this is the place to ask about downloads external to OTN. See forum description. Questions about the patches from Metalink (after searching/reading existing Notes and still not coming up with a definitive answer) should in general be directed to Metalink (e.g. open a SR).
    With that said.. If you are asking on how to retrieve the patch set via Metalink interface, then you should turn to Patches & Updates (one of the main tabs). Use e.g. Simple Search or Quick Links to the Latest... to drill down.
    When you have found a patch set, the Patch Set readme documents system requirements and other vital information.
    If you are looking for other information regarding patches and patching, the first place to look is again Metalink. Certification and supportability information can be found via Certify tab. There are several "tactical" Notes such as 161549.1 and 316900.1 useful for supporting your own procedures and for finding further information.

  • HELP! Oracle 9i on Windows Server 2003

    Hi, if I go to download the 9.0.2.1.0 release 2 of Oracle 9i for Windows Server 2003 there is only a patch and another small zip file, and not the full 3 Disk zip files? Then if you read the release notes under the zip links it points to the 9.0.2.1.0 release 2 of Oracle 9i for Windows 2000/XP? And then talks about applying some patches...
    Can someone confirm that I do need to install the 9.0.2.1.0 release 2 of Oracle 9i for Windows 2000/XP on the Windows 2003 Server and then apply these patches?
    TIA

    This is the release option for the Windows 2003 Server:
    Oracle9i Database Release 2 Enterprise/Standard/Personal/Client Edition
    for Windows Server 2003 (32-bit)
    but like I mentioned above it only has a patch and another small zip file which is obviously not the complete Oracle9i database:
    Here is the link to the release notes:

  • Incorrect download file for Oracle 9.2.0.1 for Windows server 2003

    Hi,
    I am trying to get hold of the Oracle 9.2.0.1 client software for Windows server 2003 from <http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/oracle9i/index.html> the link is in the section "Oracle9i Release 2 (9.2.0.1)", titled "Oracle9i Database Release 2 Enterprise/Standard/Personal/Client Edition for Windows Server 2003 (32-bit)"
    I follow the links through and download the OUI and "9.2.0.1" software, however after downloading and unzipping the package it seems that the download was actually the 9.2.0.3 patch that cannot be installed without 9.2.0.1 installed first. I tried this on Friday and today with the same results.
    Could you tell me how I get hold of the 9.2.0.1 client software for Windows Server 2003 please?
    Thanks,
    Mark Williams

    As Windows 2003 is officially released this week, I believe Oracle will shortly announce which versions of the database will be supported on Windows 2003. Stay tuned.

  • Oracle for Windows Server 2003 - Download file

    Hi,
    I download Oracle9i Database Release 2 Enterprise/Standard/Personal/Client Edition for Windows Server 2003 (32-bit) from OTN(file 9203WIN2K3.zip), but it doesn't have any setup file on the extracted files.
    I think that file 9203WIN2K3.zip is not complete or is not the appropriate one.
    Can anybody please help me ?
    Thanks !

    I am actuallt trying to do the same. What I fond out at one time, was that installing 9i on Windows 2003 is a multiple step process. First, you install the reqular three CD (or DISKS if you download the installation) and then you install the patches. I think what you have downloaded is only the patch. Read the README that comes with the zip file. I am looking for the document that described installing 9i on 2003. If I find id, I will pass it on.

  • Oracle 10g on Windows Server 2003 Standard 64bit

    We are running Oracle 10g on Windows Server 2003 Standard 64bit Edition. I am NOT a DBA, so forgive my ignorance.
    We have 16GB of physical memory in this server. I was told by a DBA that Oracle runs on "a single process", and because of that, he said that Windows Server 2003 Standard will only allow 2GB max for a single process.
    Can anyone confirm this? Thanks.

    This sounds more lika a Windows issue. If both Windows and app is "64-bit", I would expect the user virtual address space (per process) to be in the TiB range, if not larger.
    (The said 2GiB limit applies to a 32-bit system.)
