Oracle 9i database installation (xp pro) error.
I had unzipped the 3 disk files in one folder, upon installation the oracle installer asked me for disk2, neglecting the fact that the folder had all the 3 files unzipped, I again unzipped the disk2and disk3 in a different folder and the directed the installation to disk2 folder. Strangely the installer never asked for disk3 and ended the installation with the following error:"Configuration tool Agent Configuration Assistant failed
Parameter "orahome" = C:\oracle\ora92
Parameter "nodeinfo" = NO_VALUE
Agent Service Failed
Result code for launching of configuration tool is 1
Setting value of SHOW_END_SESSION_PAGE to true".
My main purpose is to experiment with PL/SQl and SQL PLUS. Can you let me know in what way will any of the oracle service be affected? Is there any way I can just install disk3? Thanx in advance.
You have too few RAM on your machine, even you could successfully create an instance, it's going to slow as hell.
When you run DBCA to create database, instead of actually creating the database you could choose to dump the SQL scripts and files used for database creation to a directory. This way will give you a chance to modify pfile and reduce the SGA parameter. I believe the default SGA of instance created by DBCA is already beyond your RAM limit.

Problem Oracle 10g database Installation on Windows 2003 Server
Hi All,
I am trying to face some problem to install oracle 10g database on windows 2003 server with service pack 2. Once I start to installation it give me an error "Error in writing to directory 'c:\documents and settings\administrator\local settings\temp\orainstall2004xxx'. Please ensure that this directory is writable and has at least 45MB of disk space. Installation cannot continue"
I double-insured that there is enough disk-space and I am also in the Administrators-Group.
Please guide me for the above problem although I have done oracle 9i database installation with the same configuration.

Oracle 10g database installation in red hat 5
what are the packages needed for oracle 10g database installation in red hat 5?
what do you mean by yum way of installation?Check on the release notes for your platform
This is for x86-64 Linux.. read it all, then you'll find the "6 Documentation Corrections and Additions" section you'll find the RPMs that you need
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/relnotes.102/b15666/toc.htm
then go to the official doc installation of 10gR2 on x86-64 Linux
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/install.102/b15667/toc.htm
Yum is a package management tool. This is what you'll be using to install the RPMs. But first you'll have to setup the Yum repository, usually what I do is stage the DVD media on the server then make it as a repository. If ever there's a specific (higher) version that I need then I just pull it on the RedHat Network.
There are a lot of HOWTOs about Yum. You may read on this link http://docs.fedoraproject.org/yum/en/

We are using Oracle Audit Vault & Database Firewall 12.1.0. After checking the status of the database Firewall, in the diagnostic report, we keep getting the following errors:
Checking bridges: - FAILED
Checking permissions on policy file oracle-policy_62.xml - FAILED
The first error goes away if we manually delete from system every traffic source/proxy configuration file, but as soon as we create a new one from management console, the error returns.
The second error is about the file `oracle-policy_62.xml`, we have located it in the directory /usr/local/dbfw/upload/ and as I can tell from reading it, it is a kind of configuration file of the active firewall policy on the secure target. So, what can it be?
Thank You.Hi,
I had to login with root and do the next:
cd /
find * -mtime -1 | more
this show the file modified on the last hour .... in my case does not work because I had a problem with conditions on alerts. -
Oracle 11g database installation
Hello,
I just want to install the oracle 11g database system in my Archlinux. I've looked the wiki but it's a little bit old.
So has someone tried these days installing it in Arch? How is it going? And the AUR script works?
Another question is how mush size it will be when installed?
Thanks!I have successfully installed Oracle 11g R2 using the instructions in the Dutch article on the wiki: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Or … erlands%29 (Google translate is useful).
I had an issue with the db console, but dropping and recreating the repository sorted that out: http://www.bestremotedba.com/how-to-dro … er-in-10g/ -

Oracle 9i Database installation error ORA-27102: out of memory HELP
Hello
Appologies if this post has been answered already, or if I am meant to post some data capture to show what is the issue however i am a bit unsure what I need.
I have downloaded oracle 9i for my university course as I need to have it to do some SQL and Forms building.
I have had a lot of issues but I have battled through them - however now I am stuck on this one.
I install Oracle and then the below:
Install Oracle Database 9.2.0.1.0
Personal Edition 2.80gb
General Purpose
I leave the defualt port
Set my database name
Select the location
Character set etc
then the database config assistant starts to install the new database at 46% i get the error on a pop up window :
ORA-27102: out of memory
How can I resolve this??
I am a mainframe programmer and not at all in anyway a windows whizz - please oculd someone help a dummy understand??
Again thank you all very muchYou have too few RAM on your machine, even you could successfully create an instance, it's going to slow as hell.
Oracle 10g Database installation error
I have come up with the message below when I click on setup.exe to launch OUI.
Using paramFile: C:\Oracle_Setup\stage\Components\oracle.swd.oui\2.3.0.10.0\1\DataFiles\Expanded\bin\win32\oraparam.ini
Checking requirements...
Checking operating system version: must be 4.0, 5.0, 5.1 or 5.2.
Actual 5.1 Passed
Checking monitor: must be configured to display at least 256 colors.
Actual 65536 Passed
Checking if CPU speed is above 300 MHz.
Actual 3006MHz Passed
All requirements met.
However, when the checking requirements process is done,
there's pop up window titled "Java Virtual Machine Launcher" saying "Could not find the main class. Program will exit".
I have tried to change the location of JRE in oraparam.ini file for searching the main class. But it does not work. Please help. Is this because my oraparam.ini does not indicate the location of the main class required for the JVM launcher?
Thank you very muchThanks for the help. However, I am not sure what you meant in your answer.
Let me show my oraparam.ini file below. Please let me know if there's anything to be changed in the file. Thanks a lot.

Oracle 9i database installation from download files
i downloaded oracle9i database from the otn web site. i am running windows 2k pro with service pack 2. there are three files. the instructions on the otn web site say to extract each file into it's own directory and then run setup.exe.
when i try to run setup.exe, i get an error that says the installer cannot find the java run time environment.
i have installed the newest version of java, but still get the same error.
do i need to have these directories in a certain directory?
someone please enlighten me. where am i going wrong?
thanks in advance for your assistance.if you want to have iSQL*Plus available you have to have
the Apache Web server started and you can access so:
http://localhost:port/isqlplus
to check what is the port that Apache is using you
can find that information in:
<ORACLE_HOME>/apache/apache/conf/httpd.conf
When you installed the software, if IIS was shutdown
Apache surely took the port 80 and perhaps for that is
the cause so that one of them is started the another one
has to be shutdown.

Oracle 9i Database installation
Database : Oracle 9i (9.2.0.1.0)
Linux : Redhat Enterprise Linux 4 (WS)
Kernel : 2.6.9-5.EL
Java : jre 1.5.0_08, jdk 1.5.0_07
With above mentioned setup, while I try to install Oracle, I faced following error :
Unable to load nativelibrary : /tmp/Oracle<Time stamp>/jre/lib/i386/libjava.so:symbol __lib_wait, version GLIBC_2.0 not defined in file libc.so.6 with link time reference. The JDK included with Oracle 9i used an undocumented Linux kernel call. The Linux kernel you have does not have this kernel call publicly.
You could download a newer version of the JDK 1.3 from Sun's web site java.sun.com
Or, you could build a special libwait.so and load this library when running the oracle installer.
http://www.puschitz.com/InstallingOracle9i.shtml
Read the part starting from here:
Packages (RPMs) for Red Hat Enterprise Linux Advanced Server 4 (RHEL AS 4)
If you do not have MetaLink access, read this article about creating a libcwait.so
http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/html_single/Oracle-9i-Fedora-3-Install-HOWTO/
And read the section
7.1. Apply the libwait.c patch

Verifying a String. Is there a better way to do this?
Hi!!! Maybe for some of you this is obvious... I need to verify a String object. What I have to do is just a verification if there is a character different from 0 (zero) in a String. Then, the code would be something like this: String test = "00001";
