Oracle 9i with Power Builder 7.0.2

Hi everybody!!!
we are trying to pull out a report using the Stored Procedures in Oracle 9i thro' ODBC in Power Builder.
The Procedure has two arguments, Viz.
1. A Number Argument as "IN" Parameter &
2. a PACKEGED REF CURSOR as an "IN OUT" Parameter.
When we try to build a dw on this SP thro' ODBC, it refuses to build. The Database Driver Doesn't give any error message.
IF we build the procedure without the IN Number Parameter, IT does its job successfully by returning the result set.
We are having following Configuration:
1. OS: Win NT 4.0 SP 6.
2. Front End: Power Builder 7.0.2 Build 8031.
3. Back End: Oracle 9i build 9.2.0.1.0
4. ODBC: Oracle 9i build 9.02.00.00
5. ODBC File: SQORA32.DLL
We even tried by using the latest driver without any success.
Seeking any help reg.g this.
Thanks in Advance.
Amol.

Forgive my ignorance, but what does dw in "build a dw on this" stand for? I'm only coming up with Data Warehouse, but I'm pretty sure that's not what you mean.
Can you clarify "refuses to build"? Do you get an error message from Power Builder?
For sanity, I'd try the same thing on a Windows 2000 machine. That would tend to be a more heavily tested environment (though NT 4 is supported).
Have you run an ODBC trace to determine if the driver is reporting errors that Power Builder isn't showing you?
My guess would be that this is a problem with Power Builder. I'd contact those folks to see whether they have any known issues/ workarounds.

Yes but there's no point doing it here. As the Terms of Use make quite clear this is a User to User forum. It's Users like you talking to other Users. It's not a channel to communicate with Apple.

  • Oracle 9i with Warehouse builder

    Hi,
We have instaled the warehouse builder 10g but we are using it with a database 9i. All worked ok instead of the workflow. We have installed the 2.6.3 but it does not work with our database any idea of how to solve it?

    Maybe this will help:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/workflow/wf_info.html
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/workflow/release262/workflow_faq.html
In which database versions can Oracle Workflow 2.6.2 be installed?
Oracle Workflow 2.6.2 can be installed in Oracle9i version 9.0.1 Enterprise and Standard Edition databases. Oracle Workflow 2.6.2 also requires the JServer database option to be installed.

What platforms does Oracle Workflow 2.6.3 support?
Oracle Workflow 2.6.3 is available on all platforms supported by Oracle Database 10g.

    Guys,

  • Oracle.DataAccess 32bit and x64 with one build? no matching version exists?

We have used Oracle.DataAccess to build a .net assembly. version was 10.1.0.400. I can't seem to find the native x64 install for this version 10.1.0.400 We are running IIS in the 64 bit mode. so I need a native x64 bit assembly.
We are deploying our .net assembly to both a 32 bit and x64 bit machines. so I need to install some version of Oracle.DataAccess with the same version in both 32 bit and x64 bit.
I can't seem to find a version in common to both 32 bit and x64 bit.
it looks like the closest I can get is 2.102.3.2 for x64 and 2.102.2.20
I have no problem re-building the assembly and as long as I can get the same version installed on both 32 bit and x64 bit in the GAC it should run just fine. help where can I find a matching 32 bit and x64 bit version to install?

    Hi,
Yes, you have to have a support account to be able to log in to metalink and get the patches.
Part of the ODP.NET install includes installing policy files in the GAC that redirect usage to the latest version installed, so I'd think you should be fine compiling on 10.2.0.2.21 x86 (for example) and distributing to 10.2.0.3.02 x64. You'd have to compile with a version <= the version you want to be able to run it on though.

What are you going to return the structure to? What I would normally use here if the code was going to be used by other PL/SQL would be a PL/SQL object type.
However, if PowerBuilder is still in the equation (you're moving the logic to PL/SQL but keeping PowerBuilder for the GUI ), then you'll have to return something else, because PowerBuilder doesn't understand PL/SQL object types. Perhaps passing a REF CURSOR as a OUT argument and populating it from the procedure. PowerBuilder could then retrieve the result of the procedure using a stored procedure based DataWindow.

    Hi
Yes,you can integrate multiple sap systems with PI.
    1) Create a automatic Technical system for 4.6C system(R/3) using RZ70 in 4.6c...then create a business system for this.
    2) Create a automatic tecnical system in sld for SAP ECC 6.0(R/3) system using rz70 in ecc and create a business system for this.
    3) Also create TS & BS if any non sap applications are involved.
use this Business systems as per the interface requirements for sender & receiver

  • How to install Oracle 10g with its grid functionality on Linux?

Well, I thought changing the subject line might help to convey the meaning of what I want better. Here's my earlier post from a few hours earlier.
    Hi,
I need carry out TPC-C benchmarking test for Oracle 10g (using one, two and four servers; basically using the grid in case of multiple servers). I have installed oracle 10g (with default options) on all the four servers, but beyond that I have no idea as to how can I invoke the grid option in order to carry out the tests-by my statement, I mean do I need to choose grid option while installing Oracle or is it the case that I specify the grid option in the code that I write for carrying out the tests. The OS is LInux (Scientific Linux).
An unrelated problem-one of the servers is 64 bit while others are 32 bit, and proper versions of oracle have been installed. Neglecting the obvious fact that this will make comparisons difficult does anyone anticipate any other problem?
    Many Thanks!
    Steve

Do you think that the installation of RAC can be done
in a week? yes, as long as you know what you are doing and can catch the concept quickly and good at following instructions.
Moreover, we do not have a cluster-all we
have are four servers that are separate. Do you know
if the name Real Application Clusters implies that
the servers have to be in a cluster?
The basic idea of RAC is all these hosts need to share same set of storage. The most popular such storage are SAN and NAS.

Although I have not worked with Powerbuilder, I am sure if you have a certain level of proficiency with it, you will be able to code your logic that will call your wrappers written in VB/C/.NET etc. Check out the wonderful weblog by Thomas Jung on integrating ActiveX controls with ABAP Control Framework at https://www.sdn.sap.com/sdn/weblogs.sdn?blog=/pub/wlg/995. • Oracle Clustre, Oracle Cluster with RAC and Oracle 10g

Is there a difference between Oracle Cluster and Oracle Cluster with RAC? Please explain. Do existing database codes run unmodified in Cluster or Cluster with RAC environment? What needs to be modified to make existing SQL codes RAC-aware. How to achieve 'all automatic' in case of failure and resubmission of Queries from failed instance to a running instance?
In 10g environment, do we need to consider licensing of RAC as a separate product? What are additional features one derives in 10g that is not in Cluster +RAC?
Your comments and pointers to comparison study and pictorial clarification will be very helpful.

Oracle cluster like failsafe before or Veritas Cluster or other vendor's cluster is meant for HA (high availability) purpose. Which 2 nodes or more can see a shared disk with 1 active node. Whenever this active node failed through heartbeat other machine will know and will take the database over from there.
Oracle RAC is more for HA and load balance. In Oracle RAC 2 or more nodes are accessing the database at the same time so it spread load across all these nodes.
I believe Oracle 10g RAC still need seperate license for it. But you need to call Oracle or check the production document to verify it.
Oracle 10g besides improvement in RAC. It's main improvement is on the build in management of the database itself. It can monitored and selftune itself to much furthur level then before and give DBA much more information to determine the cause of the problem as well. Plus improvement on lots of utility as well like RMAN , data pump etc... I don't want to get into too much detail on this you can check on their 10g new features for more detail view.
    Hope this help. :)

  • How to Unpivot, Crosstab, or Pivot using Oracle 9i with PL/SQL?

How to Unpivot, Crosstab, or Pivot using Oracle 9i with PL/SQL?
Here is a fictional sample layout of the data I have from My_Source_Query:
    Customer | VIN | Year | Make | Odometer | ... followed by 350 more columns/fields
    123 | 321XYZ | 2012 | Honda | 1900 |
    123 | 432ABC | 2012 | Toyota | 2300 |
    456 | 999PDQ | 2000 | Ford | 45586 |
    876 | 888QWE | 2010 | Mercedes | 38332 |
... followed by up to 25 more rows of data from this query.
The exact number of records returned by My_Source_Query is unknown ahead of time, but should be less than 25 even under extreme situations.
Here is how I would like the data to be:
    Column1 |Column2 |Column3 |Column4 |Column5 |
    Customer | 123 | 123 | 456 | 876 |
    VIN | 321XYZ | 432ABC | 999PDQ | 888QWE |
    Year | 2012 | 2012 | 2000 | 2010 |
    Make | Honda | Toyota | Ford | Mercedes|
    Odometer | 1900 | 2300 | 45586 | 38332 |
... followed by 350 more rows with the names of the columns/fields from the My_Source_Query.
From reading and trying many, many, many of the posting on this topic I understand that the unknown number or rows in My_Source_Query can be a problem and have considered working with one row at a time until each row has been converted to a column.
If possible I'd like to find a way of doing this conversion from rows to columns using a query instead of scripts if that is possible. I am a novice at this so any help is welcome.
This is a repost. I originally posted this question to the wrong forum. Sorry about that.

The permission level that I have in the Oracle environment is 'read only'. This is also be the permission level of the users of the query I am trying to build.
As requested, here is the 'create' SQL to build a simple table that has the type of data I am working with.
My real select query will have more than 350 columns and the rows returned will be 25 rows of less, but for now I am prototyping with just seven columns that have the different data types noted in my sample data.
NOTE: This SQL has been written and tested in MS Access since I do not have permission to create and populate a table in the Oracle environment and ODBC connections are not allowed.
    CREATE TABLE tbl_MyDataSource
    (Customer char(50),
    VIN char(50),
    Year char(50),
    Make char(50),
    Odometer long,
    InvDate date,
    Amount currency)
Here is the 'insert into' to populate the tbl_MyDataSource table with four sample records.
INSERT INTO tbl_MyDataSource ( Customer, VIN, [Year], Make, Odometer, InvDate, Amount )
    SELECT "123", "321XYZ", "2012", "Honda", "1900", "2/15/2012", "987";
INSERT INTO tbl_MyDataSource ( Customer, VIN, [Year], Make, Odometer, InvDate, Amount )
    VALUES ("123", "432ABC", "2012", "Toyota", "2300", "1/10/2012", "6546");
INSERT INTO tbl_MyDataSource ( Customer, VIN, [Year], Make, Odometer, InvDate, Amount )
    VALUES ("456", "999PDQ", "2000", "Ford", "45586", "4/25/2002", "456");
INSERT INTO tbl_MyDataSource ( Customer, VIN, [Year], Make, Odometer, InvDate, Amount )
    VALUES ("876", "888QWE", "2010", "Mercedes", "38332", "10/13/2010", "15973");
Which should produce a table containing these columns with these values:
    tbl_MyDataSource:
Customer     VIN     Year     Make     Odometer     InvDate          Amount
    123 | 321XYZ | 2012 | Honda      | 1900          | 2/15/2012     | 987.00
    123 | 432ABC | 2012 | Toyota | 2300 | 1/10/2012     | 6,546.00
    456 | 999PDQ | 2000 | Ford     | 45586          | 4/25/2002     | 456.00
    876 | 888QWE | 2010 | Mercedes | 38332          | 10/13/2010     | 15,973.00
The desired result is to use Oracle 9i to convert the columns into rows using sql without using any scripts if possible.
    qsel_MyResults:
    Column1          Column2          Column3          Column4          Column5
    Customer | 123 | 123 | 456 | 876
    VIN | 321XYZ | 432ABC | 999PDQ | 888QWE
    Year | 2012 | 2012 | 2000 | 2010
    Make | Honda | Toyota | Ford | Mercedes
    Odometer | 1900 | 2300 | 45586 | 38332
    InvDate | 2/15/2012 | 1/10/2012 | 4/25/2002 | 10/13/2010
    Amount | 987.00 | 6,546.00 | 456.00 | 15,973.00
The syntax in SQL is something I am not yet sure of.
    You said:
    >
"Don't use the same name or alias for two different things. if you have a table called t, then don't use t as an alais for an in-line view. Pick a different name, like ordered_t, instead.">
but I'm not clear on which part of the SQL you are suggesting I change. The code I posted is something I pieced together from some of the other postings and is not something I full understand the syntax of.
Here is my latest (failed) attempt at this.
    select *
      from (select * from tbl_MyDataSource) t;
    with data as
    (select rownum rnum, t.* from (select * from t order by c1) ordered_t), -- changed 't' to 'ordered_t'
    rows_to_have as
(select level rr from dual connect by level <= 7 -- number of columns in T
    select rnum,
           max(decode(rr, 1, c1)),
           max(decode(rr, 2, c2)),
           max(decode(rr, 3, c3)),
           max(decode(rr, 4, c3)),
           max(decode(rr, 5, c3)),
           max(decode(rr, 6, c3)),
           max(decode(rr, 7, c3)),
      from data, rows_to_have
group by rnumIn the above code the "select * from tbl_MyDataSource" is a place holder for my select query which runs without error and has these exact number of fields and data types as order shown in the tbl_MyDataSource above.
This code produces the error 'ORA-00936: missing expression'. The error appears to be starting with the 'with data as' line if I am reading my PL/Sql window correctly. Everything above that row runs without error.
Thank you for your great patients and for sharing your considerable depth of knowledge. Any help is gratefully welcomed.
