Oracle blob with LabView max 2000 Bytes?

I use LabView 7.1.1 with the Database Connectivity Toolset.
The Databases which i use are 1. Sybase SQL Anywhere 9.0 and Oracle 10g. wenn i use the Sybase i am able to store BLOBS without any problems. Now i have to use the Oracle DB and when i try to save Blobs the length of the BLOBs are cut to max 2000 Bytes.

First to answer your direct question: No there is no limit to the size of a BLOB that you can save to Oracle with LV. I know this because I routinely save BLOBS a lot larger than 2k to an Oracle 10 database. The main difference is that I gave up on the Database Connectivity Toolkit a long time ago because it is way too expensive, it doesn't work very well and it's totally unnecessary. To replace it, do a search of my posts and a while back I posted a library of the drivers that I wrote and use. They are much more efficient than the DCT and are easier to use. In addition because they are essentially a thin layer covering the underlying the ADO interface in Windows, they make it easier to diagnose problems when they do occur. Which brings us back to your problem...
As I understand your post, the BLOBs are trucated to 2000 bytes. Yes? Are there any errors generated? What is the structure of the table in question? Could you post the SQL that created the table? What does your connection string to the database look like?

  • How to handle Oracle BLOBs with WebLogic 10.3

    We have code that has been running for a long time to handle blobs in Oracle. We have never had a problem running inside of WebLogic, including WLS 10.0 and WLS 11. Recently, we had a customer that had a problem after they upgraded to WLS 10.3. Indeed, we downloaded that specific version and see the same issue. The issue is our Oracle db specific code is now causing an IllegalAccessException after we get the ResultSet vendor obj, by calling getVendorObj() on the WebLogic managed result set, and try to cast to an OracleResultSet. We need to do this in order to call OracleResultSet.getBLOB(), which returns an oracle.sql.BLOB. The code we use to update the blob is shown below. getOracleBLOB is our own method. It basically gets the OracleResultSet by calling getVendorObj on the managed WLS ResultSet, casting to an OracleResultSet, and calling getBLOB(colname) on it. Casting to the OracleResultSet causes the exception shown below. OK, so I understand WLS not wanting us to fiddle with the underlying db ResultSet, but what's our alternative. How can we do this without relying on the underlying OracleResultSet? After 10 years, working with many different versions of WebLogic as well as JBOSS and WebSphere, this is the first time we are seeing this.
    Thanks in advance.
    oracle.sql.BLOB blob = getOracleBLOB(rset,_columns.name);
    OutputStream os = blob.getBinaryOutputStream();
    ObjectOutputStream oos = new ObjectOutputStream(os);
    oos.writeObject(_columns[i].paramObj);
    oos.close();

    We ultimately found out what the issue was. Turns out that OracleResultSet moved from oracle.jdbc.driver into oracle.jdbc starting with ojdbc6.jar. We were referencing the oracle.jdbc.driver package.

  • Oracle 10g connectivity with sql server 2000 through oracle transpa gateway

    dear gurus.
    i am to connecto oracle 10g with sql server 2000 through oracle transparent gateway.
    i have installed transparent gateway and proper configured. also link is created.
    but when i execute query "select * from city@inventory" , so an error displayed.
    ORA-12500: TNS:listener failed to start a dedicated server process.
    kindly suggest me what could be the cause.
    regards,

    if the listener fails to spawn a dedicated server process it is commonly indicating an issue with the listener. So posting the listener and also a listener trace including a description of the env where you installed the gateway into which directory would be helpfull. Please keep also in mind if you have for example a 10.2.0.3 database and you install into this directoty a 10.2.0.1 gateway you have to reapply the patchset again do get consistent file version.
    So please describe more detailed your env.

  • Documentum objects to Oracle BLOBs

    Hi All -
    We currently have documents (as images) stored in documentum server. These document images need to be moved to Oracle database as Oracle BLOBs with unique IDs as we are getting rid of documentum server. We have thousands of documents stored in documentum server.
    What would be a good/effecient way to migrate all these documents to Oracle as BLOBs using PLSQL? Are there any existing API's to accomplish this? Please share your expertise.
    Thanks,
    -Seenu

    This piece of code, which I got by Googling, updates a table with a BLOB.
    update person set portrait= empty_blob()
    where id = p_person_id
    returning portrait into l_blob;
    l_bfile := bfilename( 'MY_IMAGES',p_file_name );
    dbms_lob.fileopen( l_bfile );
    dbms_lob.loadfromfile( l_blob, l_bfile,
    dbms_lob.getlength( l_bfile ) );
    dbms_lob.fileclose( l_bfile );

  • Uploading a file (.doc, .xls, .txt) into an Oracle table with BLOB column

    Hello All :
    I have been trying to figure out for a simple code I can use in my JSP to upload a file (of any format) into an Oracle table with a BLOB column type. I have gone through a lot of existing forums but couldnot find a simple code (that doesnot use Servlet, for eg.) to implement this piece.
    Thanks a lot for your help !!

    Hi.
    First of all to put a file into Oracle you need to get the array of bytes byte[] for that file. For this use for example FileInputStream.
    After you get the byte array try to use this code:
            try {
                Connection conn = myGetDBConnection();
                PreparedStatement pstmt = conn.prepareStatement("INSERT INTO table1 (content) VALUES(?)");
                byte[] content = myGetFileAsBytes();
                if (content != null) {
                    pstmt.setBinaryStream(0, new ByteArrayInputStream(content), content.length);
                pstmt.close();
                conn.close();
            } catch (Exception ex) {
                ex.printStackTrace();
            }or instead of using ByteArrayInputStream try pstmt.setBinaryStream(0, new FileInputStream(yourFile), getFileSize());Hope this will help...

  • PHP 5 Code to Upload and Retrieve an Image (aka BLOB) with Oracle

    I keep being asked about BLOBs. For posterity, here is my example updated
    to use the new PHP 5 OCI8 function names, and using bind variables for the BLOB id.
    -- cj
    <?php
    // Sample form to upload and insert an image into an ORACLE BLOB
    // column using PHP 5's OCI8 API.
    // Note: Uses the new PHP 5 names for OCI8 functions.
    // Before running this script, execute these statements in SQL*Plus:
    //   drop table btab;
    //   create table btab (blobid number, blobdata blob);
    // This example uploads an image file and inserts it into a BLOB
    // column.  The image is retrieved back from the column and displayed.
    // Make sure there is no whitespace before "<?php" else the wrong HTTP
    // header will be sent and the image won't display properly.
    // Make sure php.ini's value for upload_max_filesize is large enough
    // for the largest lob to be uploaded.

    I am using oracle 10g [10.2.0.1.0] and PHP 4.3.9 with Apache.
    I tried my best to change the old functions names for example(oci_fetch)
    to the new (OCIFetch),i works every where, but i could not find the corresponded functions of (oci_fetch_assoc) that's why i can not see my BLOBS at all!
    Can some help me please, to know where are corresponded functions of oracle 8 to oracle 10g?
    Exactly here is my problem:
    $query = 'SELECT BLOBDATA FROM BTAB WHERE BLOBID = :MYBLOBID';
    $stmt = ociparse ($conn, $query);
    OCIBindByName($stmt, ':MYBLOBID', $myblobid);
    ociexecute($stmt, OCIDEFAULT);
    $arr = oci_fetch_assoc($stmt);
    // OCIFetchAssoc, OCIFetch, OCI_ASSOC ... nothing works-> Fatal error: Call to undefined function:
    $result = $arr['BLOBDATA']->load();
    What should i do?
    Thanky very much.

  • Can query serial port with NI MAX, but doesn't work in Labview

    I'm trying to control a Coherent Sapphire 488 with labview. It's connected via a serial to USB converter into the computer. I can communicate with a device using NI MAX, but when I try to run the vi (attached), it works for several queries, but evetually returns a null character, after which I can no longer communicate with the port. If I then go into the NI MAX interface, every time I try to read it gives the "VISA: (Hex 0xBFFF0015) Timeout expired before operation completed" error message.There are also several queriess from the instrument's manual that don't seem to work at all (with or without MAX) and always return a null character. Any help is appreciated. I'm certainly a novice with device communication. Thanks.

  • Controlling PCI-1422 with Labview instead of MAX

    Hello Experts,
    I want your help in one of my problem. I have a camera from Sensors Unlimited which is SU-640 1.7 RT-D and a NI parallel card PCI-1422. I can use and acquire data with MAX from the camera but I want to operate,use and acquire images from the camera using LabView. Is there any way of exporting or using the camera with Labview instead of writing a fresh code in LabView?
    Does LabView offer any support or reads automatically from PCI-1422 or any possible solution that I get the block diagram code for using this camera in LabView.
    Please let me know, reply.
    Any help or suggestions will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance!

    Just wondering something easy. I tried one of the example and it worked actually but I am trying to get more ideas or options to make it look better and impressive.
    You want something and easy and doesn't require any effort on your end?    Hire someone who knows how to program in LabVIEW.

  • MAX compatibility issues with Labview 8.6

    I recently upgrades to Labview 8.6 and it no longer recognizes the devices I previously configured in Measurement & AUtomation Studio.  Is there a newer version of MAX to go with 8.6?  I need to stream acquisition from CompactDAQ I/O.

    Hi,
    Do you have the latest daqmx drivers? You can download them from here.
    Have you tried uninstalling and re-stalling MAX? There were some problems with MAX corruption with Labview 8.5, this KB gives some instruction and more information on the problem. I'm not entirely sure if the problem was fixed with 8.5.1 or whether it is still in effect. It may be worth a try.
    This thread deals with corruptions of MAX, and may be a useful resource.

    I see that Max 4.1 comes with daqmx 8.3 which is NOT listed as Labview 7.0 compatible.  I also see that installing the last daqmx for labview 7.0 (ie daqmx 8.1) would install max 4.0.3.  Therefore, if i have max 4.1 installed with labview 7.0/daqmx8.1 am I expected to have issues?

    Just to clarify a bit, Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX) displays a list of NI devices and software on your computer, but it does not install support for those devices.  The DAQmx driver is responsible for installing support for our Data Acquisition products.  Support for USB M-Series devices was not added until version 8.3 of DAQmx.  This knowledge base article describes why the USB M-Series product line has to be used with DAQmx 8.3.
    You are correct when saying that DAQmx 8.3 is not compatible with LabVIEW 7.0 as stated in this document.  With this set up, your only options would be to upgrade your LabVIEW version or choose a different form factor such as PCI for your device.

  • How to Unpivot, Crosstab, or Pivot using Oracle 9i with PL/SQL?

    How to Unpivot, Crosstab, or Pivot using Oracle 9i with PL/SQL?
    Here is a fictional sample layout of the data I have from My_Source_Query:
    Customer | VIN | Year | Make | Odometer | ... followed by 350 more columns/fields
    123 | 321XYZ | 2012 | Honda | 1900 |
    123 | 432ABC | 2012 | Toyota | 2300 |
    456 | 999PDQ | 2000 | Ford | 45586 |
    876 | 888QWE | 2010 | Mercedes | 38332 |
    ... followed by up to 25 more rows of data from this query.
    The exact number of records returned by My_Source_Query is unknown ahead of time, but should be less than 25 even under extreme situations.
    Here is how I would like the data to be:
    Column1 |Column2 |Column3 |Column4 |Column5 |
    Customer | 123 | 123 | 456 | 876 |
    VIN | 321XYZ | 432ABC | 999PDQ | 888QWE |
    Year | 2012 | 2012 | 2000 | 2010 |
    Make | Honda | Toyota | Ford | Mercedes|
    Odometer | 1900 | 2300 | 45586 | 38332 |
    ... followed by 350 more rows with the names of the columns/fields from the My_Source_Query.
    From reading and trying many, many, many of the posting on this topic I understand that the unknown number or rows in My_Source_Query can be a problem and have considered working with one row at a time until each row has been converted to a column.
    If possible I'd like to find a way of doing this conversion from rows to columns using a query instead of scripts if that is possible. I am a novice at this so any help is welcome.
    This is a repost. I originally posted this question to the wrong forum. Sorry about that.

    The permission level that I have in the Oracle environment is 'read only'. This is also be the permission level of the users of the query I am trying to build.
    As requested, here is the 'create' SQL to build a simple table that has the type of data I am working with.
    My real select query will have more than 350 columns and the rows returned will be 25 rows of less, but for now I am prototyping with just seven columns that have the different data types noted in my sample data.
    NOTE: This SQL has been written and tested in MS Access since I do not have permission to create and populate a table in the Oracle environment and ODBC connections are not allowed.
    CREATE TABLE tbl_MyDataSource
    (Customer char(50),
    VIN char(50),
    Year char(50),
    Make char(50),
    Odometer long,
    InvDate date,
    Amount currency)
    Here is the 'insert into' to populate the tbl_MyDataSource table with four sample records.
    INSERT INTO tbl_MyDataSource ( Customer, VIN, [Year], Make, Odometer, InvDate, Amount )
    SELECT "123", "321XYZ", "2012", "Honda", "1900", "2/15/2012", "987";
    INSERT INTO tbl_MyDataSource ( Customer, VIN, [Year], Make, Odometer, InvDate, Amount )
    VALUES ("123", "432ABC", "2012", "Toyota", "2300", "1/10/2012", "6546");
    INSERT INTO tbl_MyDataSource ( Customer, VIN, [Year], Make, Odometer, InvDate, Amount )
    VALUES ("456", "999PDQ", "2000", "Ford", "45586", "4/25/2002", "456");
    INSERT INTO tbl_MyDataSource ( Customer, VIN, [Year], Make, Odometer, InvDate, Amount )
    VALUES ("876", "888QWE", "2010", "Mercedes", "38332", "10/13/2010", "15973");
    Which should produce a table containing these columns with these values:
    tbl_MyDataSource:
    Customer     VIN     Year     Make     Odometer     InvDate          Amount
    123 | 321XYZ | 2012 | Honda      | 1900          | 2/15/2012     | 987.00
    123 | 432ABC | 2012 | Toyota | 2300 | 1/10/2012     | 6,546.00
    456 | 999PDQ | 2000 | Ford     | 45586          | 4/25/2002     | 456.00
    876 | 888QWE | 2010 | Mercedes | 38332          | 10/13/2010     | 15,973.00
    The desired result is to use Oracle 9i to convert the columns into rows using sql without using any scripts if possible.
    qsel_MyResults:
    Column1          Column2          Column3          Column4          Column5
    Customer | 123 | 123 | 456 | 876
    VIN | 321XYZ | 432ABC | 999PDQ | 888QWE
    Year | 2012 | 2012 | 2000 | 2010
    Make | Honda | Toyota | Ford | Mercedes
    Odometer | 1900 | 2300 | 45586 | 38332
    InvDate | 2/15/2012 | 1/10/2012 | 4/25/2002 | 10/13/2010
    Amount | 987.00 | 6,546.00 | 456.00 | 15,973.00
    The syntax in SQL is something I am not yet sure of.
    You said:
    >
    "Don't use the same name or alias for two different things. if you have a table called t, then don't use t as an alais for an in-line view. Pick a different name, like ordered_t, instead.">
    but I'm not clear on which part of the SQL you are suggesting I change. The code I posted is something I pieced together from some of the other postings and is not something I full understand the syntax of.
    Here is my latest (failed) attempt at this.
    select *
      from (select * from tbl_MyDataSource) t;
    with data as
    (select rownum rnum, t.* from (select * from t order by c1) ordered_t), -- changed 't' to 'ordered_t'
    rows_to_have as
    (select level rr from dual connect by level <= 7 -- number of columns in T
    select rnum,
           max(decode(rr, 1, c1)),
           max(decode(rr, 2, c2)),
           max(decode(rr, 3, c3)),
           max(decode(rr, 4, c3)),
           max(decode(rr, 5, c3)),
           max(decode(rr, 6, c3)),
           max(decode(rr, 7, c3)),
      from data, rows_to_have
    group by rnumIn the above code the "select * from tbl_MyDataSource" is a place holder for my select query which runs without error and has these exact number of fields and data types as order shown in the tbl_MyDataSource above.
    This code produces the error 'ORA-00936: missing expression'. The error appears to be starting with the 'with data as' line if I am reading my PL/Sql window correctly. Everything above that row runs without error.
    Thank you for your great patients and for sharing your considerable depth of knowledge. Any help is gratefully welcomed.

  • Can I use oracle blob by CMP bean in weblogic 6?

    I use weblogic 6.1(sp3) and Jbuilder 7.when I try to use oracle blob by CMP bean,the

    Finally got it working with CMP, which is my preferred choice (over BMP).
    I read the Excel Spreadsheet into a "byte []" array, and the Entity Beanmapped
    "byte []" to the Blob column in the Oracle table.

    I'm not quite sure I undestand the problem. Could you:
    1. Post deployment descriptors in part related to this
    CMP bean?
    2. Post the piece of code that is failing?
    Please post the information above and we will help
    you to hunt the problem down.
    No, I don't have any problems accessing blobs
    from CMP.

    Yes. I have added;
    <dbms_column-type>OracleBlob</dbms-column-type>
    It fails because the locater to the blob, obtained by findBYPrimaryKeyis
    null.
    i.e. an empty_blob() is not created.
    Have you got CMP to access Blobs in WLS 6.1?

    I can access Clobs using CMP. If you are using the Oracle OCI Driveryou
    do not
    need to add this line.
    However if you are using the Oracle Type 4 Thin drivers you need
    to
    add;
    <dbms_column-type>OracleClob</dbms-column-type>
    to the file;
    weblogic-cmp-rdbms-jar-xml
    This DOES NOT work with Blobs.
    I am unable to get WebLogic 6.1 sp4 persist a Blob to an Oracle
    8.1.x
    table and
    retrieve it using either CMP or BMP.
    Unless any one show me a complete working CMP and BMP example?

  • How to store a  blob with toplink

    Hi .. I am using toplink 10g (10.1.3.0) and oracle9 and I am trying to insert a blob with toplink in the database but I dont know how I need to use a resultset and a PreparedStatement if it is the case hor how use toplink???

    You should be able to read the file in and convert its data to a byte-array in your object. TopLink will handle the conversion from byte-array to BLOB in the database.
    If you are using the Oracle thin JDBC drivers, they have a 5k size limit, if your file is larger than this you will need to use the Oracle8/9Platform in your login and a TypeConversionMapping and set the fieldClassification to java.sql.Blob.
