Oracle Server Access through DSL Router

Hi All,
I have Oracle 9i server on Windows 2000 and working fine in Local Area Network. I have broadband connection with one static IP. Internet ISP has given a router. From outside office I can connect to Oracle through the static IP. I just have to do port forwarding settings in the router. I tried port forwarding settings for terminal services, web server, Citrix, and other applications and it is working fine. But when I do port forwarding for Oracle for port 1521 (Oracle is running on default port) then from outside Office LAN it doesn't work. Can anyone help me out why I'm not able to connect to Oracle.
Praveen

Perhaps because 1521 is only being used for the initial contact with the listener. Once that contact has been established, the listener tells the database and the user process to communicate on another port - often randomly assigned.
Which can be circumvented by using the conneciton manager as described in the Networking reference manual in the database docco.

  • Oracle Server Connectivity through Internet

    Hi
I have installed Oracle Server in my Office. Office Server SID is "ORACLE". My office website is "xxxxx.NET". I want to access Office Server from my home (here too Oracle Server available) place through internet. Can anyone please help me how to connect to my Office Server from my home place through internet. What are changes required in TNSNAMES.ORA file, SQLNET.ORA.

Hi, Is it the database server available from outside office??, Does server has a public interface? Do you have access to server through simple TCP connection from your home??
    Luck.
    Have a good day.

    Hi Maksud,
How do you get this error? When logging to the application? What does Apache log file say (error_log and access_log)?
Please see if (Note: 119706.1 - Troubleshooting Guide TNS-12535 or ORA-12535 or ORA-12170 Errors) helps.

    Hi
I need help configuring my intel solaris8 box to get to the internet. I have dsl going into a linksys router. my windows machine have no problem using the DNS servers from pacbell. i also have DNS setup on my novell server, but the solaris8 box still can't resolve anything. I can ping everyone on my segement, I can connect to my novell web server netscape navigator but can't resolve it's name, i have to use it's ip address. I can remote logon. I lloked for a resolv.conf file but can't find one, help!!!!
    Danny

Edit /etc/resolv.conf (it may not exist) with the following lines:
    domain your.domain.name
    nameserver your.primary.dns.ip
    nameserver your.secondary.dns.ip
    search your.domain.suffix
The last line is optional, but please do substitute those values for the ones that you use.
As far as a default route goes, just edit /etc/defaultrouter (may not exist) and put the ip of your default gw on a single line.

  • Server Access through NAT'd Firewall

    Hi,
I have a 7.3 client accessing a server on the same LAN segment with no problems. I am trying a to add a second client that is on the other side of a NAT firewall. This client has full access to the server, but it is accessed with a different IP address.
Is there a way to complete this?
    Thanks

Thanks for the replies. I checked out 10gR2 today and it seems like, as you both say, that the best way of doing it (if not the only way) is to install the agent onto the remote servers using the tools provided. Doesn't seem as if there's a way of discovering nodes running 9i or lower agents.
    Cheers,
    Marcus.

  • Management server access through firewall

I'm trying to use the memory leak detector with a server in our data canter. The firewall only allows communication on certain ports and I've set -Djrockit.managementserver.port to use one of them.
The initial connection (RMI registry lookup) from the client works fine, but then the client tries to connect back to an "anonymous" (random) port that the RMI (mgmt) server listens at.
Is there a way to specify which port the actual mgmt server listens at? (I've also tried -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.port, but that didn't help either)
We'd like to avoid having to open ports for each newly establish connection.
    Thanks!

The JMX Management Server is only used to start up the native Memory Leak Server. The call to start up the Memory Leak Server returns an anonymous port over wich all further communication with the Memory Leak Server takes place.
This is not a technical constraint though; it just reflects the way the client is currently written. I'll make sure the next version of the MemoryLeak Detector client supports a user specified port for the communication with the Memory Leak Server - at the very least through a system property.
Contact me at hirt(at)bea.com if this is something you need right away. ;)

  • FTP Access through router.

    Hello,
I am trying to set up a simple ftp server to exchange files with my friends in other cities. When i start the service (FTP Access) it gives me this link:
    ftp://192.168.0.3/
However this ip is the internal ip address i use to connect with my wireless router, and not my actual ip address. So is there a way to make it work, or this service can only be used if you dont share the internet?
Any advice will be very much appreceiated, bear in mind that i have control of the router so i can easily set up port permissions.
ps. I guess i 'll have the same problem if i try to set up a web server, and the solution will be the same as well.
    THANKS!!
Mac Mini Duo   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   having switched one month now and never going baaaaack!

    Hi frag,
Yes that IP address is on your internal network - your Mac has no knowledge of the external IP address that your router interfaces to the outside world with.
The config page for your router, or an external IP tracer, will show you the address that your friends need to use. But, depending on the connection you have to your ISP, your IP address may change on occasion (dynamic). In which case you may have to look into using a dynamic DNS provider which allows a fixed domain name to point to a dynamic IP.
Also, you are probably better off to use a 3rd party FTP server - such as PureFTPd Manager - which allows more flexibility with config, which will be very helpful for navigating through the router.

  • Accessing Oracle 11i  apps through Pocket PC

Normally for any windows client to connect to the Oracle Server we add a entry into the client host file i.e. windows\system32\drivers\etc\host . Once we add the entry we are able to access the Oracle Application.
From a Pocket PC 2002 how do I access the oracle 11i apps ?

Is this possible by enabling wireless server and accessing directly through jsp pages?

You might want to check following things:
Can you do a ping to the IP address you specified?
Is the data correct (ip, host, system number,...)?
Is the gateway with system number 00 running on the server?
Did you install the SAP RFC SDK dll's?

  • Unable to allow Family Laptop access to Web through my Router

I have a desktop and laptop wirelessly linked in a LAN using a DSL modem and a Linksys WRT54GS router.
    This is working OK.
I now want to allow my grandson access to the WEB using his laptop when he visits me.
I have XP Pro installed on both my LAN machines whereas the grandson's laptop has Vista.
However when he enters my router's password on his laptop he is unable to connect to the WEB through my router.
I notice than in the WIRELESS SECURITY section of my router I have the firewall set to "BLOCK WAN REQUESTS".
Could this be the reason for this failure to connect ?
I am reluctant to change any settings needlessly.

Evidently the " BLOCK WAN REQUESTS " is not the reason why your grandson's vista laptop , because other wireless computer were able to get online.
make sure that you have the right network key
    - click on the tab wireless
    - click on wireless security ( underneath security )
    - what is our sec. mode?
► if  wpa personal / wp2personal / wpa radius you most like could check ahead if the password is right ( the password is in: passphrase, wpa shared key, etc.. )
► if wep , what is your encryption? your tx key or default transmit key? if 1 the basically what you need is what is written in key 1
     - check if wireless mac filter is disabled , if enabled and permit only , make sure that mac address of the wireless lan card of your grandson's laptop is in the list.

  • How do I set up a Web-based access page to allow access to the internet through my router?

My wireless router is a WRT54G.  I own/manage several condos in a building and guests change all the time.  I want to set up a network with internet access similar to hotels and airports where access is granted after being directed to a web page and entering a password.  How do I set this up?  (I have several domains/websites if this is needed.)

Not with standard firmware and no other equipment.
If you want standard firmware and warranty and service you have to look at more expensive equipment.
For some WRT54G you can flash 3rd party firmware which opens up the Linux on the router. See the wikipedia article for "WRT54G" for a start. Also check out dd-wrt. Some people there use the WRT in hotspot setups with dd-wrt. They should be able to point you into the right direction.
Otherwise, what you are able to do with the WRT and standard firmware is radius authentication with WPA or WEP (called WPA Enterprise or similar...). This however, does not redirect you to access through a web site. You have to enter the username and password when you connect wireless to the router on your computer. If it matches you get access. Again: there is no web site involved here and if you don't know the username/password you cannot access anything not even an internal, free homepage. This also does not work for wired access to the router.

  • How to Install Oracle Data Access Components (ODAC) on Windows Server 2003?

I recently installed "32-bit Oracle Data Access Components (ODAC) with Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio" on my computer (Windows 7, 64bit). Everything seems fine and I can develop and run my application in Visual Studio 2010 and IIS 7.
Now, when I deploy my application to the Server, it raises error:
Exception: System.TypeInitializationException: The type initializer for 'Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleCommand' threw an exception. ---> Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleException: The provider is not compatible with the version of Oracle client
Obviously I need to install ODAC on the server, too. My server is:
    - Windows 2003 32 bit R2 (I know, I know!)
    - IIS 6
So. I downloaded the same installation from Oracle website (ODAC 11.2 Release 5 and Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio [11.2.0.3.20]) and installed it on the server. But still getting the same error.
PS: When I was installing, I chose Oracle Data Access Component for Oracle Client 11.2.0.3.20 in Oracle Universal Installer. hmmmm. Should I choose "Oracle Server" instead? Screenshot

ODP.NET, Unmanaged Driver uses unmanaged dependencies in the Oracle Client. The error you see means you have another Oracle Client installed on the Win2003 machine and ODP.NET is attempting to load the incorrect Oracle Client version, rather than the version you installed ODP.NET with.
What you need to do is direct ODP.NET where to find the correct version of its unamanaged Oracle Client dependencies. This will be generally the bin directory of your Oracle Client home that was installed with ODP.NET.
