Oracle8i client on Linux, oracle8 server on Solaris

Hi
I have an Oracle8 server (8.0.6) on Solaris
2.5.1 running on Sparc.
I installed Oracle8i client (8.1.5) on linux
(Redhat 6.1)
With sqlplus it works, but using proc it fails.
First I thought that it was my piece of program, but it fails with the demo software too, producing the same error message as my program.
$ORACLE_HOME/precomp/demo/proc/ ansidyn1 and ansidyn2 fails when I try to issue a simple sql query with the following error:
ORA-01002: fetch out of sequence
The interesting thing is, that this error is generated when it tries to PREPARE the dynamic statement, and not when it tries to fetch.
Any idea ???

I have the same problem!I have already post it on this board! It seems like a bug!I think we should contact oracle corp. to solution it!

  • Linux install server and solaris 10

    Hi,
I am trying to learn Solaris as a student. I bought a SPARC (Netra T105 UltrasparcII) server on ebay which requires a network install as there is no cd-rom, or keyboard.
I only have a linux box (like I said, I'm a stingy student) to use as an install server, there is a few tutorials out there to try and do this, but none for Solaris 10. I have been hacking away at this for days, but cannot get it to install. I have the sparc server using RARP and then getting the /etc/bootparams file and downloading the boot files, but it does not get to locating the jumpstart files or the install files (I dont know if I can install from the terminal using the keyboard (without jumpstart) - I have not got that far yet).
I always get this, like it cannot find the install directory, I was wireshark on the linux boot server and see loads of NFS traffic after the TFTP download, but cannot seem to see what part it actually at. I have a detailed log at the bottom from putty. Any help greatly appreciated.Cheers

/sbin/install-discovery: information: not foundHmm. That looks like the image file is corrupt. Can you pull the image from media again? Can you see if there's a /sbin/install-discovery file in the image (usually under Tools/Boot/root). I recall there used to be a problem with that file.
    Linux box setup:
    /etc/bootparams
solaris root=192.168.2.10:/home/sunos/Solaris_10/Tools/Boot rootopts=rsize=32768 boottype=:in install=192.168.2.10:/home/sunos_install/Solaris_10/Product sysid_config=192.168.2.10:/home/sunos_install/jumpstart/sysidcfg install_config=192.168.2.10:/home/sunos_install/jumpstart/jumpstart.confIf you just want an interactive install (prompt for configuration/settings), you don't need sysid_config or install_config. Those are for automated installations.
    TFTP setup from /tftpboot:
    [root@robert tftpboot]# ll
    total 232
    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 8 Jun 10 13:55 C0A80214 -> inetboot

    /home/sunos_install *(ro,no_root_squash)
    [root@robert tftpboot]# showmount -e localhost
    Export list for localhost:
    /home/sunos *
    /home/sunos_install *That looks pretty good.
You do have the option of running VMware on linux, and putting a Solaris 10 image on it, then using that VM as your boot server. But the problem you're displaying doesn't appear to be related to the linux server.

  • NFS latency when Solaris 10 client mounts Linux NFS server(EMC NAS)

    Hello,
One of our developers discovered a problem that for simplicity we call "latency". We have several 5.10 clients that we see the exact same symptoms on when NFS mounting our Celerra. The NAS is running a Linux variant "2.4.9-34.5406.EMC", but before you all jump on the "it's EMC's problem" bandwagon, let me explain. We set up an automated process (Perl) that watches an exported folder for the appearance of a request file (rand.req). When the request file comes in we rename the request file to (rand.sav) and then return a "report" named (rand.res). Very elegent I thought, and it runs at near lightspeed when only Linux NFS clients mount the share and create, monitor, delete, etc any files. In fact there is zero recorded latency from the time the report file appears and when the client detects it. But for all our Solaris 10 clients, they create the request file just fine, and the Perl process running on the Linux box sees the file instantaneously and returns the report, but it takes the Solaris client anywhere from 5 to up to 50 seconds before it see's any change in status for any files the Linux box manipulates. I've tried every possible combination of mount -o options there are including noac, rsize and wsize variants, vers=2, proto=udp, actimeo=0, etc, etc, etc. Nothing seems to be the magic bullet. nfsstat -c shows nothing out of the ordinary. There are no retransmits or dropepd packets anywhere in between, no firewall loads, no connectivity delays whatsoever. I'm completely out of ideas. Any ideas or clues would be greatly appreciated!
    thanks
    Dave

No specific recommendations. But maybe you can watch the cable and get more information.
Set up a case where the file has been created, then have the client check and snoop the cable at the same time. Does the client actually issue a directory check (or is it just displaying cached information)? Does the response contain the new file?
    Something to test anyway...

  • Sunray unit connected to Linux Sunray server and Solaris Sunray Server

    Hi,
Currently, I work in a development environment where there is two Sunray servers.
One server is running on Linux ubuntu and the second one is running on Solaris.
In order to connect to the wanted sunray server, the dhcp server is configured with the list of the mac address of the sunray units. So one sunray unit connects always to the same sunray server.
I would like to know if it is possible to have the two sunray server available from one sunray unit. And make the choice of sunray Server in function of the sun card inserted in the sunray unit.
    - from my sunray unit A, if I insert my sun card AC I can open a session on the Linux server.
    - from my sunray unit A, if I insert my sun card BC I can open a session on the Solaris server.
    Thanks

You can do this by using an SRSS feature called "Automatic Multi-Group Hotdesking", or AMGH for short. For details read the "Regional Hotdesking" section in the SRSS Admin Guide and the manpages for utamghadm, ut_amgh_script_interface, ut_amgh_get_server_list and ut_amgh_free_server_list, and/or read the AMGH entries in [Bob Doolittle's blog|http://blogs.sun.com/bobd/].

  • Does Oracle 8i or 9i server support solaris X86 platform ?

Can i install the Oracle 8i or 9i server on a intel PIII machine ?
    thanks for answer !

I'm sure that Oracle8i server supports Solaris Intel Platform and Oracle9i doesn't support Solaris Intel Platform at this moment as I know.

  • Linux 11g client to solaris10 11g server

Can you confirm that a linux 11g client can connect to a solaris 10 11g server?
I'm getting some weird connectivity issues between these and would like to confirm it isn't just me and my solaris 10 patch level or some other unknown.
tnsping and sqlplus hang. tcpdump shows that there is no push of data from the server after the initial SYN/SYN ACK. Don't think it is the firewall, since the handshake takes place, but I'm not the solaris sysadmin, so I can't be 100% on that.
    Thanks.

Oracle client server interoperability is not depends on platform. Linux 11g client definitely supported to connect to Solaris 11g server.
Can you post the content of tnsnames.ora of your 11g client (is it same as your 10g client that you said working?)
    also the output from
    lsnrctl status
    on server side.

  • ORACLE8 SERVER RELEASE 8.0.4 ENTERPRISE EDITION NEW FEATURES

ORACLE SERVER
Oracle8 Server Release 8.0.4 Enterprise Edition New Features
    ============================================================
    Oracle8.0.4가 나올 것으로 예상됩니다.
Oracle8 and Oracle8 Enterprise Edition product factoring
    Time Series Data Cartridge
    Visual Image Retrieval Data Cartridge
    Legato Storage Manager integration
    JDBC drivers
    Advanced queuing enhancements
Easing of restrictions on parallel DML operations
    Improvements to national character support
Improved automation of tablespace point in time recovery (PITR)
    Improved Oracle Parallel Server diagnostics
    Oracle Enterprise Manager enhancements
    Net8 restrictions lifted
Oracle8 Enterprise Edition Product Factoring
Oracle8 and Oracle8
Enterprise Edition
    - Error Message
    Time Series Data Cartridge
Temporal
(SHYANG BJN, This needs to have some good examples for better
    understanding, also)
    Visual Information Retrieval (VIR) Cartridge
것으로 "find me objects that look like this one."
    Legato Storage Manager
Legato
(MML:Multimedia
Management Layer)
    JDBC Drivers
Oracle Call
Java
    Advanced Queuing
    Oracle Enterprise Manager
Parallel DML Operations
Oracle8 Release 8.0.4 Enterprise Edition은 parallel DML
(Insert/Update/Delete) operations
    National Character Support 개선
Release 8.0.4는 Korean NCHAR character set과 European sort for the
    UTF8 character data
또한 Tablespace Point in Time Recovery (PITR)
Oracle Worldwide
    Oracle Parallel Server Diagnostics
Fixed global
DLM (distributed lock manager) lock
    Oracle Enterprise Manager
Recovery Manager report commands
Net Assistant
Interoperability

Of course, the Linux server would issue kerberos ticket to the Windows client after which successfully authenticates with the Win2003 DC.

  • Difference between oracle8 Enterprise and oracle8 server??

COuld some one point me to info regarding the
    differences between Oracle8 Enterprise
    edition and just Oracle8 server..
I have been trying to look on the docs, but
    not much luck..
    TIA.
    jithu

They are essentially the same - the differences are in features, mainly being that EE supports Data Warehousing features such as BitMapped indexes, Table partitioning and materialised views to name a few. There is a doc on the Oracle web site that lists the features and whether they are supported on Server or EE. I don't where, I just did a search one day and found it.

  • Mapping ACLs between Solaris10 ZFS server and Solaris 9 client ??

The NFS server is Solaris 10 with a ZFS filesystem. The client is Solaris 9. Using NFSv3 over tcp. If we go to the Sol10 box and set a simple ACL on a directory we never see any indication that an ACL is set from the Sol9 client. The "ls -l" will not show a "+" for the directory. The ACL permissions actually work from the client side, however. What we need is some method for the Sol9 users to actually see that there is an ACL set. Getfacl does not work.
Testing this arrangement with a Fedora 8 client still using NFSv3, the ls -l will show the "+" character.
    thanks for your help,

  • RMI Client on Linux issue.

I am facing Java RMI problem on Suse Linux.
RMI server running on solaris and RMI client running on Solaris ---> works fine
RMI server running on solaris and RMI client running on Linux ---> gives error
Pls note that RMI server running fine. When invoking remote method from RMI client on Suse Linux, I get following error.
Java.rmi.UnmarshalException: error unmarshalling arguments; nested exception is:
    java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: RemoteVtskImpl_Stub
    Any help/pointers will be useful.

Even we tried setting the CLASSPATH to point to those jar files. But still the problem persist.
At run time is there any way to see what all the _stub files are downloaded in the JVM at the client machine (linux machine in our case) from the server machine (solaris machine in our case).

  • Trying to configure RedHat Enterprise 4.3 linux jumpstart server

I am trying to configure a system under RedHat Enterprise 4.3 linux to jumpstart
a Sun Ultra 60 and install Solaris 9. Web pages and SysAdmin 4/2005 article
"Portable JumpStart Environment" have not addressed my problem. I am using
Internet Systems Consortium DHCP Server V3.0.1. The bootblock is
delivered to the sun client and executes.
The entries in dhcpd.conf conform to those published in various Web
pages and the article "Portable Jumpstart".
The Solaris 9 OS distribution is exported thus:
    /wks xxx.xx.xx.0/24(ro,wdelay,no_root_squash,mountpoint)
The load fails upon execution of .../Solaris_9/Tools/Boot/sbin/rcS
I think the problem may be with NFS. The mount request of the
    exported filesystem appears to work:
    rpc.mountd: authenticated mount request from sunxxx.xx.xx.xx:1023 for /wks/dist/sun/sparc/sunos5.9/9_404/Solaris_9/Tools/Boot (/wks)
    The first errors reported are:
    /sbin/rcS: /dev/null: cannot open
    /sbin/rcS: /dev/null cannot create
I have captured the conversation between the linux jumpstart server and
the Sun client using tcpdump: tcpdump -vvv -s 192 host server and client.
I am not highly skilled at interpreting the tcpdump output; the cause of
the failure is not obvious to me.
I have successfully used a jumpstart server under Solaris 9 for quite some time. ISC DHCP is deployed on the Solaris jumpstart server.
    Thank you,
    D. Castellano

While some have reported success doing this, I have heard of many failures. The common thread appears to be that when accessing device files, the Solaris client gets back something odd from the Linux NFS server.
Certainly this was the case for every attempt I knew about from a 2.2 kernel and earlier. I have see success reports, but do not have details about exactly which kernel or NFS patches were present.
This works fine from Network appliance and FreeBSD NFS servers, so I think there's some sticky point with the Linux NFS server that just doesn't handle the device files in the same manner.
See this newsgroup post (and the accompanying thread). It contains some discovered issues and some Linux servers that are reported to work.

  • Is there really a Cisco VPN client for Linux? _Really?_

    Hello folks,
I've finally after almost experiencing a brain aneurysm by trying to think too hard got my Cisco 881-SEC-K9 router properly configured for a multipoint IPSec VPN tunnel to my Amazon Virtual Private Cloud, so that hurdle is finally passed and I actually feel it was a very important milestone in my life somehow. I never thought I'd see the day I actually got my hands on a legitimate Cisco non-stink... erm.. I mean, non-linksys router. Now I just can't seem to find a 'client' VPN program for Linux. I'm currently running a Xen Hypervisor environment on openSUSE Linux because it's the only Linux distribution that completes all of my strenous requirements in a Linux server environment. It's also the most mature, and secure Linux on this planet, making it the most appreciable Linux distribution for my research needs.  Using NetworkManager is not really an option for a basic Linux server environment, and OpenVPN is just too confusing to comprehend for my tiny little head.  I've heard mention of some mysterious "Easy VPN" but after hours of digging online can't find any information about it, even the Cisco download link leads to a Page Not Found error.  I do see a Linux VPN API for the AnyConnect program, but is that an actual VPN client, or just an API?  It seems to want my money to download it but I don't have any money nor do I really know what it is because it's all secretive-like, closed source, and I can't even find a simple README file on it explaining what it is exactly.  I'm just an out-of-work software developer trying to connect to my home router for personal use and I can't really afford to fork over a million and a half dollars for a single program that I'm only going to need to download once in my lifetime that should have been included with the router in the first place. I more than likely won't even be able to figure out how to use the program anyways because I don't know anything about VPN connections which is why I bought this router so I can try to figure it all out as part of the not-for-profit open source, volunteer research I'm presently trying to conduct.  Is there some kind of evaluation or trial period for personal use? That would be really nice so I could at least figure out if I'm going to be able to figure it out or not.  I hate throwing money away when it's in such short supply these days. There's really no alternative to a Cisco router.  It's an absolute necessity for the things I'm trying to accomplish, so trying to settle for something else and going on with my life is not really an option. No, this is something I just need to face head on and get it over with.
    <Rant>
Maybe I have a little too much crazy in me for my own good, but I don't see why it should take so much money just to learn how to do something for personal reference, it's not really a skill I would ever use otherwise.  Wouldn't it be great if Cisco made their VPN client open source and free to the public to use and modify, to improve on, to learn and to grow and bring the whole world closer together as a community? Even the source code to the old discontinued Cisco VPN client could be used as a valuable learning tool for some poor starving college student or Open Source Software developer somewhere trying to get by on Ramen Noodles and Ramen Noodle Sauce on Toast (don't tell me you never thought about it).  Through the ripple effect, It would drastically improve sales over the course of time, because it would open the door to a whole new market where those who previously could not afford to participate now could. That's the true power of Open Source. It creates a more skilled work force for the future by openly contributing and sharing knowledge together. What if the next big internet technology and the solution to world tyranny - the solution to end all wars forever - were locked in the mind of an unemployed software developer who couldn't afford to upgrade their cisco router software or access the software they needed because it was closed source and required committing to an expensive service contract to download?  That would be just terrible, wouldn't it?  I guess there's no way to ever know for sure. I suppose I'd be just as happy if some kind soul out there could point me to an easy to use alternative to an always on VPN connection that runs in the background which doesn't require NetworkManager or having to spend days upon days digging through and trying to comprehend either some really poor or extremely complex documentation?  I apologize for all the run on sentences posed as questions, but I've just got some serious mental burnout from all of this, being unemployed is some hard work folks. I could really use a vacation.  Perhaps a camping trip to the coast is in order after I get this working, that sounds nice, doesn't it? Nothing like a good summer thunder storm on the ocean beach - far away from technology - to refresh the mind.
    </Rant>

I do tend to talk too much and I don't mince any words either.  What I am however, is really appreciative for the help. I know you hear that all the time, but you have no idea how much time and headache you just saved me.  I think vpnc might be just what I've been looking for, unless someone can think of a client for Linux that I might be able to throw a little further.  I'm very security minded now, after the backlash of Blackhat 2013, there's no telling which direction the internet might head next. Oh, you didn't hear? Well wether they realize it or not, DARPA basically declared war with other government agencies by releasing their own version of a spy program for civilians to use against the whoever -- possibly even the governmnet itself. They even went so far as to suggest it's private usage to blanket entire cities in information gathering. Civilians are a powerful foe, as they are not bound by the oath of office, any evidence they obtain is admissible in court, wether they know that or not. There's a very important reason for that. It's to prevent another civil war from ever happening, we shed enough blood the first time around less people forgot.  It's something that can and will be avoided because our civilization has advanced beyond the need for bloodshed. The courts have to obey the majority rule, no matter what. For the first time in history, cyberwarfare can reach into the physical world to cause serious damage to physical structures like the nuclear facility incident in Iran.  There's scarry bills trying to sneak through congress that are changing the landscape of technology forever for the entire world. We're at a pivotal point now where things can happen. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out over the next decade or so. No matter which way you look at it, just be preparerd to sell a whole lot of routers.
