Oracle9i client with oracle8 DB and Access 97

Most of our DBs were recently migrated from 8 to 9i, and we are currently migrating all users to the 9i client as we upgrade from Win2k to WinXP. We're having issues for users on the 9i client connecting to an Oracle8 DB via an Access 97 front end. Are these icompatible? I don't want to give any details on the issues quite yet, because that will take a long time to explain!
We've had success with one user that remained on the oracle 8 client after the WinXP update. We've also had some success with converting the Access 97 DB to 2003 and using the 9i client. I say "some success", because we lose some functionality in Access that doesn't appear to be ODBC related.

Don't quote me on this but I have been playing with similar stuff recently and I made it work by importing the certificate authority certificate so that it can be trusted. Normally the DS will only look in the .../serverroot/alias directory for its certificates.
You could try (take a copy first)
Export the 2nd certificate as a ascii pem file (if it is self-signed)
certutil -L -d /apps/ldap/local-certs -P 'cnd-dm1-' -n <certificate name> -a > cnd-dm1.pem
and then import the pem file into the directory server certificate db
certutil -A -n <certificate name> -i cnd-dm1.pem -a -t CT -d /apps/ldap/v1/master1/serverroot/alias -P 'slapd-cnd-dm1-'
or just import using the second command if you have got this from a proper CA
At least that way the DS will know about the certificate when you try and do the connection.

I'm having trouble with iTunes synching and accessing the iTunes store. When synching, the process tops at the back up stage, freezes and I can't close the iTunes window, need to ctrl alt del. When trying to access the store, the progress bar stops halfway. I've googled heaps and tried most of the standard answers - unistall, reinstall, etc, now looking for some help please.
This has only started a few weeks back, after working smoothly for the 2 years of owning the iPhone 3gs.
Any suggestions will be appreciated, it's getting realy frustrating.

Problem with Oracle8i Lite and Forms 6i

Problem:
I have installed first Oracle8i Lite Version 4.0.0.2.0 on my computer witch has no network card and it works wery well with The Open Client Adapter (OCA).
Then, I have installed Oracle Forms and Reports Release 6i, and from this moment, I get this message : "OCA-30002: ubofscr function not supported".
In the release notes, I can read :
"OCA Release 6.0.5.3.0 is installed for compatibility with Oracle Required Support Files version 8.0.5. If you install newer client tools which upgrade your Required Support Files to version 8.0.5.1, you may experience an error message, "OCA-30002: ubofscr function not supported". To upgrade OCA to correct this problem, copy the OCA605290.zip file from the \WIN32 folder of the Oracle8i Lite CD-ROM, unzip it and follow the instructions in the README.TXT file which it contains."
But on my Oracle8i Lite CD-ROM, there is no OCA605290.zip file from the \WIN32 folder.
What can I do ?

How to set up a list view with easily-added and accessed attachments

This may be a case for the Sharepoint designer forums or something similar but I wanted to start with General since I don't exactly know even what I'm asking for yet.
Here's my goal - A web-based table of rows of columns similar to Excel where every row contains information about a particular task, and I can embed files into the rows and easily access them with a click. I have built a Sharepoint list (using Sharepoint
online / Office 365) with custom columns, enabled attachments and the attachment column, and set the default to datasheet view. But I am running into the following issues:
I can't add an attachment to a row in datasheet view. I have to click Edit Item -> Attach File -> Browse -> Hit ok several times. This is not a sustainable option. How can I attach a file from the datasheet view?
After attaching a file, the attachment column just shows a paperclip icon. I can't click the icon or access the file without clicking View Item and then clicking the link to the attachment. How can I easily view an attachment?
I've seen mention of an Access database style view, things like document libraries etc. I've never really handled the front end of Sharepoint before, so I don't yet know what I don't know. I'm open to any suggestions that could help me accomplish what I'm

Hi Matt, create a column of type "enhanced rich text." Then in your datasheet view, double click on the field in that column and use your "insert" tab to upload a file. You'll then see the file in this cell and you can open it straight
from the datasheet view.

Exchange 2010 all mail clients with internal cached and internal non-cached mode users having connection status issues, login prompt -- external is fine either way

I'm seeing an issue that started this past Monday with no recent change to our environment.
External Outlook Anywhere users and Mobile users, OWA users are unaffected.
Internal Users are affected when using Outlook of any version, 2010 or 2013.
-Internal Users normally log into their workstation with their ad credentials, domain joined machines. Outlook opens without credentials prompting ideally.
1 . Using Cached Mode:
a. Login Prompts, slowness - Since Monday, users are getting prompted to login. The prompt goes away after logging in at startup. It is also causing high CPU
on the workstations.
b. Free/Busy, Out of Office doesn't work. I can, however complete auto-setup for a new user, so autodiscover is not completely down for internal users.
c. Checking Connection Status shows connecting status on highlighted entry below without ever establishing connection (just goes away).
The outlook icon in the system tray says "Outlook is requesting data from the server":
2. Using Non-cached mode
a. No Login Prompt at startup, business as usual
b. Free/Busy, Out of Office works fine. Autodiscover is fine.
c. Checking Connection Status shows normal except, it has "casarray URL, then status is referral" it seams to flicker this constantly then go away intermittently.
d. Main issue in non-cached mode is, sometimes a user will log into windows, open outlook and it will not open and says "server is unavailable. Retry, work offline, or cancel" I can try re-opening, same message.
Only after logging out of windows, logging back in, I can get back into outlook. This is not every time, or consistent with specific users, but random.
3. Lync Pop up for credentials often, though entering the password.
URLs are correct. Autodiscover, EWS, etc.
Already tried bypassing our loadmaster load balancer with host files on clients. same issue regardless of casarray node.
Not sure what is going on.

You have a hybrid configuration with Office 365, right? You didn't provide this valuable piece of information.
In Exchange Online PowerShell run this command:
Get-OrganizationConfig | FL PublicFoldersEnabled
If the value is "Remote" then users with Exchange Online mailboxes are looking to on-premises public folders. Be sure that you have legacy pubic folder interoperability properly configured.

When NOT using icons on the toolbar, side-bar drop-down for additional toolbar items has disappeared with Firefox 4 and accessing these items requires clicking 'Bookmarks', then 'Show all bookmarks' then 'Toolbar'--ugh, what a pain.

On older versions of Firefox, Toolbar links ran across the top of my screen, with a drop-down to the far right which would show additional Toolbar items for which there was not room on the screen.
With Firefox 4, if I'm not using icons (text only), the dedicated Toolbar drop-down is gone and I have to first click 'Bookmarks' to the right of the Toolbar ribbon, then 'Show All Bookmarks', then 'Toolbar' in order to access my additional Toolbar links. Could anyone have made it any harder?
Why doesn't someone just restore the drop-down at the far right of the Toolbar so that all of my Toolbar items (which I prefer to keep separately from the regular Bookmark items, else I would have just plain bookmarked those items in the first place) are readily accessible?

You see the orange (on Linux gray) Firefox button if the Menu Bar is hidden (View > Toolbars > Customize or right-click a toolbar).<br />
If you need to access the hidden Menu bar then press F10 or hold down the Alt key to make the Menu Bar appear temporarily.<br />
You only see the Bookmarks menu button if the Menu bar is hidden.

Oracle9i client with 8.1.7 databases?

Hi all.
I am about to install 9i on my test server and a 9i client on an XP development machine. Will the 9i client work equally well with a remote 8.1.7 database that I also need to connect to? (The other users on that database are running 8.1.7 clients, but I would like to avoid that if there are no known issues with using the new one...)

Why you've installed both clients to one machine? To which database are you connecting to? Oracle 8i is no longer supported. Use 10g Client to connect to your databases

There are many like myself that will never use some of the built-in apps yet they persist all The same.
With no legal means of removal through iTunes, these apps degrade the product.
When will Apple create the option many of their clients want and allow these superfluous apps to be removed?

I'm having issues with oracle ODBC and access 2007

I've had exactly the same problem for weeks now.   When using Safari, it stalls, freezes, then starts working again. I checked the console and exactly when it freezes. I get the following:

Outlook clients with SL server and ICAL/Addressbook server

Hi!
I have a customer intrested in replacing their old SSB 2003 server with an SL server. I wonder if this combo can accommodate their calendaring needs.
- They need to view eachothers calendars side by side in outlook
- They need to have shared calendars with read/write access
- Central store for contacts
They want the experience to closely reassemble Outlook/Exchange, but are prepared to make some changes in working methods if nessecary.
Is this even possible or are they forced to move to a new SBS 2008 server instead? They are only 7 in the office, so doing witout an expensive SBS 2008 server would save them around 5000$ in investments.

No. It was true, but with the v3.0 software that changed - you can now sync your Exchange contacts and calendar over the air, and your Address Book and iCal via iTunes over the docking cable.
What is the best work around for this?
None needed. When you set up the exchange account, and choose to turn on syncing of contacts and calendars, you will be prompted to remove all other data, or keep it on the iPhone. Choose the keep option. Note that in that case, your personal data will not be uploaded to the Exchange server - the iPhone keeps them separate (although you can choose to view them in a merged fashion).
I have this set up on my phone (Exchange calendar along side personal and other calendars from iCal). Same for contacts. Works great.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Using Oracle 7 Client with Oracle 9 Server

I was wondering what are the advanatges of using Oracle 7 client with Oracle 9 Server versus using Oracle 9 Client with Oracle 9 server.

Some years ago I used 7.3 Client with 9i DB, and I don't remember of particular problems, but I'm speaking of Sql*Plus only. Are there specific problems ?
Of course the best thing is to install one 9i Client (did you already do it ?) : if there are same problems, then that's not compatibility issue.
And what are advantages of using 9 Client with 9 server other than 7 is no longer supported.You're sure you won't have compatibility problems.

NW Business Client and accessing SAP services via web pages

We currently use Business Connector to access our SAP environment via web pages. We looked at NW eSOA but decided against implementing it. Does Business Client offer anything that helps access SAP apps and data from a custom web site better the Business Connector?

I am assuming you are using SAP Business Connector in your landscape to connect to back end SAP systems from your web applications. Your question now is that if business client can let you access SAP data for your web pages instead of the business connector. Point to not here is that Business client, as the name implies, is just a client with single point of access for SAP screens. That means, you can access traditional SAP transactions, WebDynpro screens, BSP pages, Portal screens etc in one single client. In very raw terms, Business client acts (or replaces) as your browser. It is not going to provide you any out of the box integration with backend system rather just act as a window. You options at this point are
1) Use your existing webpages but instead of getting data from the backend system through business connector, get the data using webservices.
2) Use PI as middleware tool and get the data from backend SAP system
3) Stay were you are but deal with high cost of ownership.

Client with 4 branches, 8 business segments

Hello everyone!
I have a client with 4 branches, and 8 business segments. The main branch will do all the reports. Inventories is also by branch, example inventoy-HQ, Invty-br1, etc. I have defined the 8 business segments as projects because they want to see the individual profit and loss of each business segments. The problem is, when they created the items, and set g/l accounts by item group, the linking account for each item group is like this:
item 001
    item group: Product A
        income account to choose from:: Sales-Product A-HQ
                                                              Sales Product A-Br1
                                                              Sales-Product A-Br2 etc
The problem is I must select only one account per item group, but all their revenue, cost of goods sold, expense and inventory account are identified per branches (just like above)
How do i set up g/l accounts by item group?
