ORDER BY - Right to Left

Hello there,
I am in a situation where i need string values (In the format 000000AA0000) to be sorted from right to left rather than left to right.
So - Normally:
100000AA0000
000000AA0001
I would like it to be:
100000AA0001
600000AA0000
This needs to basically look at the data and sort in reverse order.
Regards,
Matt

Hi, Matt,
is there a mistake in your message? It seems like you want different strings, not just different order.
There is an undocumented REVERSE function that does exactly what you asked:
SELECT    string_col
FROM      table_x
ORDER BY  REVERSE (string_col);It's not a good idea to use undocumented features in Production applications.
As PL/SQL goes, writing your own REVERSE function is pretty easy.

  • Change default reading order to right to left gpo

    Hello
I am trying to display a message in my native language to clients but since the reading order is ( Arabic right to left) it shows the message in left ro right order. is there any way to change this via gpo?
Also the "legal Notice" is not work for me because of unicode characters.
    Thank you

    Hi,
As far as I know, there is no settings to change reading order. I would like to suggest you try to intall Arabic language pack and then change the display language.

  • I want to view a PDF file from Right to Left (Japanese page order) in Apple Preview

I want to view a PDF file from Right to Left (Japanese page order) instead of Left to Right (English page order) when I view 2 pages. Does someone know how to do this? I think I was able to accidentally get it to work before, someone please HELP!

Sadly there's no way to do that on apple's Preview.
Adobe reader, however, has this option.

  • How can I create a right-to-left .pdf in MS Publisher with Acrobat Pro 9?

    Hello.
We have a specialized application, and I was unable to find an answer by searching.
We need to create a right-to-left diglot (multi-language) Bible translation in MS Publisher. It will have Hebrew and/or Aramaic on the right hand side, and English (and/or other languages) on the left. We need MS Publisher to get the layout we want (as well as for source document compatibility).
When the document is done I need to create a single .pdf of the document, 8.5 x 11" (standard US_ paper), for the printer. How can I do that?
I will be using Acrobat Pro 9.
    Thank you very much,
    Norman.

Sorry, I forgot to specify that the page order needs to go from right to left (backwards from standard English documents).

Pages has never supported RTL correctly since it was released a number of years ago.  It's been discussed many times in the forum for that app.  You should use Mellel (the best), TextEdit, Nisus Writer, or OpenOffice.  MS Word for Mac has never supported RTL at all.   To ask Apple for improvements for Pages, go to
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/pages.html
Unfortunately Apple never provides info on when problems will be fixed.
Other than Pages, support should be good:
In Mail, check the Menu item Format > Alignment > Writing Direction
For the OS in general, check System Preferences > Language & Text > Input Sources > Bidirectional Text

  • How to use math symbols in a right to left text properly?

    Hey there
When I write a simple mathematical equation or a number(which has sign) in the middle of a right to left text in a text box(I simply set keyboard language to EN for typing expressions & numbers) it's like mathematical symbols are somehow not considered math symbols and that's weird since in word it's not that way, take the following sentence for example that means result of the 0-127 expression is -127:
حاصل عبارت 127-0 برابر 127- است.
In word I can type it just fine(for typing expressions and numbers I set keyboard language to EN) but when I type it the same way in adobe acrobat I get this:
حاصل عبارت 0-127 برابر -127 است.
copy & paste from word also doesn't do any help, so If I want to get it right I should type math expressions from right to left meaning as instance to type 0-127 I should first type 127 then - and finally 0 also should type digits of a number before typing its sign as example for typing -127 I should first type 127 then - ,now I wonder is it the way acrobat works or I'm doing something wrong.
By the way OMG o_O even when I did copy & paste my messasge from word to the text box of forum for posting, it ended up treating math parts in upper right to left paragraph the same way as acrobat  I just had to write them from right to left!
    Anyone has any idea?
    Message was edited by: Pooria

In a word document I wrote:
حاصل عبارت 127-0 برابر 127- اسـت
Then tried printing it using "Adobe PDF" printer, in output pdf that sentence was written in right order and interestingly it was broken into three text boxes   thanks for reply.

    Hi
I'm not sure what you exactly what you mean from right to left.  Do you mean the tab order, or do you mean the justifying of text.  Or the labels on the right perhaps ?

  • Navigate menu does not function from right to left direction

My navigate bars work fine from left to right, but when you go the opposite way (right to left direction) or not in sequential order, the current page on the screen remains.
I have to click on the upper left arrow in Safari to make the navigation work from the right to leftward direction. I would also like the user to be able to click on any navigation bar out of sequence.
This is a very simple site with only 3 static pages.

I suspect that there is something on your Links page in iWeb which is overlapping the navigation bar and preventing the menu items from working.

  • PDF Maker problem in outlook using right to left text

    Hello,
I am using the PDF Maker application in outlook (acrobat 7.0.5 and outlook 2002)  which allows the user to convert an email message (or folder with messages)  in the outlook to a PDF document.
    My question is :
When the document contains languages from right to left (Hebrew), the converting PDF Maker process changes the letters order in the "from", "to" and the "subject" fields to be from left to right . The text in the message itself is in the right direction (right to left).
How can I overcome this issue ?
    Thanks
    Naomi

My acrobat version 7.0.5 does support ME languages

  • Product Quetion concerning Right to left rendering

I see noone has answered the question concerning rendering a CrossTab object from right -to-left.
I have another product related question.
Is there any version of Crystal Reports that supports the rendering of a CrossTab object or Chart from Right -to-Left ?
In Cr 11.5 there does not seem to be an ability to change a CrossTab report from rendering Left -to-right  to  Right-to-left.
So If there is no ability to do this, how does Crystal Reports support arabic or other cultures that read from Right-to-Left.
I am able to do this with SSRS , why not CR ?

Cross tabs are based on the sort order of the horizontal and vertical index objects.   Perhaps you could sort descending instead of ascending.
    Fuskie
Who notes that even if you could, the cross tab totals would still be on the right/bottom and the ehaders on the top/left...

  • Tab Settings, Show tabs at right or left...!!!

Hi, the new monitors of pc are wide screens, the high is less than wide. I will need to put the tabs of the open pdfs at right or left side of the view-screen. I don't like to reduce the high of  the view-screen. The toolbars are easy to doc (place) at right or left side of the view-screen. Have you got any solution ?
Farther more, when I read only one pdf, I don't like to view a single tab. I think, it is too much and the view-screen is reduced without any reason.
I use the Adobe Reader version 9.1.4 under of ubuntu 10.10 (maverik) kernel 2.6.35-24-generic.
    Thanks.

You could use the "Panorama/Group Tabs" ([[What are Tab Groups?]]) feature to sort your tabs into different groups in order to have the more organized. For the most frequently used sites you can use "AppTabs"([[What are App Tabs?)]] Or you could simply close some of the rarely used tabs (Maybe save them as a Bookmark ([[How do I use bookmarks?]]) to find them again later).
But this doesn't really solve the problem. First I have to ask if you are using "Tabs on top"? (On the menu bar, click on the View menu, go down to Toolbars and tell me whether "Tabs on Top" is checked or not). Then: How many tabs do you have? Firefox does only show the vertical scrolling arrows when they are needed. How many tabs you can have without the arrows appearing depends on the width of your window, so could you please make a screenshot of your Firefox window and upload it here? If you don't know how to take screenshots: [[Adding screenshots]] (just follow steps 2 to 8) and then add it blow your post . :)

  • Right to Left languages- How does it work on iWeb?!

    Hello to all the experts!
I'm trying to build an iWeb site in Hebrew, But when I publish... it's all wrong.
How do I set the writing direction as right to left language?
I already tried to "Align Right" on the Format >> Text.
    But it is not enough.
    Thank you.
    ASTELO

When I use MAIL, I can easily choose: Format>> Alignment >> Writing direction.
I'm looking for something like that...
Could you provide your url, as I asked before? It is hard to know exactly what you are talking about without seeing it. There is no Writing Direction feature in iWeb or iWork apps, like you find in TextEdit or Mail. Is your problem that the characters are not in correct order, or that the paragraph formatting is not what you want, or you have mixed RTL/LTR and it is all botched up?
iWeb is a poor app for hand editing html, because everything you add is erased whenever you republish. There are also separate Unicode characters which can be useful in some circumstances. See this page:

  • Right to left support CS6

    Hi,
I just started to use my creative cloud membership by downloading PS, AI and ID software. In the FAQ for the creative cloud I saw that I can also download the version that support right to left writing.
Is it possible? How do I download a different software edition?
    Thanks,
    Ziv

You will need to uninstall the current language in order to install English Middle Eastern or English Hebrew. For both of these the user interface is in English but they provide right to left support.
After launching the Adobe Application Manager click on your name in the top left and from the context menu choose Preferences. Change the Language to the one you want to install.

I think this is a bug we just discovered on Friday. Does it render the children in the correct order at runtime, and the wrong order at design time?
If so, the bug is that we're picking up the wrong children order. We're getting the one from the java backing file instead of the JSP source file / tag markup.
As a workaround, try going to the java file (first item in the context menu), then changing the order of the beans (inputText1, outputLabel1 etc.). Let me know if that works.
We'll be working on this one. If this is NOT your problem let me know so I can get additional information.
