Order Infinity before exchange live?

With my exchange being scheduled to go live on 30 June, I've been going to the infinity checker daily to see when I am able to place an order.
Today was the first time that it has told me that Infinity is available 'now' on my line and I was able to successfully place an order with a scheduled installation/activation date of 26 June. Sounds terrific and I'm looking forward to it.
But my exchange isn't due to go live until 30 June - ok, only a few days later, so maybe it's ready early - but even odder, there's absolutely no sign that the cabinet I'm connected to has been upgraded. It's still the old green cabinet sitting there in spendid isolation and no sign of anything going on, or having been done, anywhere near it.
Do BT normally take orders in anticipation of the work being completed (seems unlikely to me) or am I right to be more than a little sceptical?
Solved!
Go to Solution.

Just to update this - install went smoothly on 26 June: engineer called from the cabinet and was at my home 20 minutes later. 20 minutes after that, done and dusted, including re-stapling the Master Socket cable to the skirting board for me as it had become loose. Mine was the first install for the cabinet. Since then, rock steady 37Mbps down and 8Mbps up against a forecast 40/10. The only fly in the ointment was that my wireless G adaptor wasn't up the job and I've since swapped it for an 'N' which is fine.
The cabinet IS the one advised by the checker, and even though the OR engineer told me where the new one is (down the road and around the corner as there's no electricity supply near to the old one), I STILL haven't been able to find it. It must be very well hidden. But hey-ho, it all works and I'm delighted with the result, and the process. Even got my Sainsburys gift card yesterday.

  • Read this if you are thinking of ordering infinity...

Ordered infinity on 1st of June, had my conformation email after ordering stating that i would have a engineer come and do some work. asking me to be at home 8 Am till 1 PM (even though i ticked the box that said you don't have to be there for this visit as it will be external work). 13th came and no visit. OK i thought no problem as its external work no drama (lost a days pay though).
2 days later bt emailed me saying" sorry we missed you, your new appointment for the engineer will be the 18th also asking me to be at home for this visit 8AM till 1PM, Bt never turned up for this one aswell, No phone call email or text message to say why they have not turned up.( another days pay lost) so i rang bt 0800 800 150... 45 minutes later and 2 bt employees from India that could not help, they put me through to bt infinity division in England. Sharon apologised for the 2 visits that was missed but could not understand why. Sharon put me on hold so she could ring the engineers, 15 minutes later i was told that they would not be coming out today (18th) and she would put a message in there departments diary for some one to ring me on the 19th to explained why and put me on the high priority list.
7.30 pm on the 19th No phone call!!!!! so i rang again 0800 800 150. 20 minutes later and 1 lady from India i got through to the infinity diversion again and asked why no ones have rang me like i was told and promised (Sharon words not mine). Vicky from bt infinity could not believe what had happened to me and was shocked, my activation date is on the 25th and Vicky told me that i should not have had the 2 visits from the engineers until the activation date was completed ( ok £200 notes down the drain for taking 2 days off for no reason) she promised me that some one would ring me tomorrow 21st i told her i have already been feed that line yesterday but she promised they would.
guess what happened...... no phone call....... so after me ringing bt at 7.30pm tonight and finding that the department was closed via a pre recorded message (8pm is the time they close i checked) i tried one more time and got though to a lady that did not have a clue even after reading the notes on the system. she tried to ring the engineers department but got no answer. WHAT A F... JOKE...
I have never had such bad and disorganised customer sevice in my life ( i work in Customer Service myself)
I will be ringing bt back tomorrow in the afternoon to find out if there is anyone that can really help me find out what is happening to my order.
ps. to top it all off my home hub and welcome pack was due today 21st. that did not arrive and i have tracked it. its in isle of man rang the post office and they said it had been sent there by mistake (i live in Chester) now i am worried that if everything goes ahead on the 25th i will not have the home hub in time to start using infinity lol
if you are thinking of ordering infinity good luck you are going to need it after my experience

I feel your pain Bro, had a lot of hassle when I first got infinity, and lately had a bit of hassle before and during the upgrade. There is a serious communication error between various departments at BT and this is something they need to sort out. In my opinion it has lost them a great deal of custom and a great deal of money. As I am from N. Ireland I ended up having to get in touch with my local office in Belfast to sort the problem out and they did it flawlessly without any messing about.
    1. Had engineer out regarding slow speed and I suspected it was a Retail server problem, engineer told me full speed was coming into the premises and reported this back to BT and Openreach.
    2. BT said there was no problem with the server, sent another engineer, same thing...etc etc...Reported back to Openreach.
    3. Openreach said there WAS a problem and that they have now fixed it, guess what...not fixed.
    4. Another engineer call out, same thing.
    5. This went on and on for 3 weeks
    Ended up doing this:
    1. a. Contacted local crew in Belfast.
    2. a. got a call back the next morning and was told they will not be sending anymore engineers.
    3. a. Line fixed within 2 hours of the call, and yes, you guessed it. Server problem all along.
BT needs to stop automatically blaming a lot of the faults on the end user and instead listen to the customer or they would have had this job fixed that same day. Instead they wasted money sending loads of engineers which could have been available for other installations etc.

  • Infinity - (Braintree Exchange) How to source info...

My BT service is off the Braintree exchange, which has gone live with Infinity, but naturally not every BT customer is connected to a FTTC box. So, I understand that I need to be patient. However, I have contacted BT on several occasions to simply ask if they could tell me, even roughly, when I could expect Infinity to come to my line, if ever, but I simply come up against a wall of silence and “try again next week” advice. I have also asked BT if I took their Broadband (I’m currently with Pipex) and then upgraded to Infinity within the initial contract period would I be penalised? The response has been, “I don’t know”. Infinity connection issue; I’m in the middle of what is an Infinity triangle which from point to point is no more than 300mts, around that periphery are neighbours of mine with Infinity access so I’m trying to establish why the sub-cabinet (If there is such a thing) that my line originates from is not Infinity enabled? There is a newly installed and very large green FTTC box some 600mts away from me which I think all the “triangle” connections come from (And I would have thought mine) and I assume that feeds the more local sub-cabinets, though they are not visible surface cabinets. Also, I am sure that the existing telephone lines for those around me with Infinity actually need to pass by my home. Sorry to ramble, but does anyone have any advice on how to get information, short of collaring an Open Reach engineer when I next spot one, on the technical aspects of the routing to/from an FTTC box and if I’m on a sub-cabinet that may not be capable of being connected, and a BT contact that may be able to assist? Many thanks, David.

    Stephanie,
I'm up to speed on the issue of exchange live but only some cabinets being live, but as I've said in my post the primary cabinet at the end of my road is new and is being used for FTTC. What I can't quite fathom is why the FTT cabinet is being used for those who live on my road and roads that spur off it to get Infinity but it can't be use for me. Its a bit like the water main running down my road and everyone is tapping into it but I can't. Those houses before mine, those after and those opposite and behind me get fresh water from that main but I can't. I suppose it's all about logic, I can't understand it; there may well be a simple answer but BT simply can't explain it to me. If I were told that I can't have Infinity because of X then that's fine, but I'm not being told anything other than my telephone number and post code say "no" but your neighbours are can. As I've said, I'd just like to know why I can't access Infinity. I'm sure you can imagine, it's frustrating when neighbours have Infinity and BT email me telling me I can have it only to be told "no" when I call in. Finally, two points. I live in Great Notley which is a new'ish development and those Infinity installations I talk about are part of the same development as me; Another neighbour of mine went live with Infinity yesterday. I asked him to ask the Open Reach Engineer if there was a reason why his neighbour round the corner (Me, 150mts away) could not get Infinity. The Engineer replied by saying he could see no reason why as it's all live in the area but that the problem could be down to BT's post code checker.
The Infinity checker result is below - as you can see its "not currently due to be rolled out in my area".
If you are able to ascertain the reason why I can't get Infinity I'd be very grateful and I'll promptly sign up for BT TBB and await FTTC roll out to my number.

  • Just Ordered Infinity, Set Up Question

    Hi,
Just ordered Infinity and the equipment is on the way!
I have a questions which, hopefully, someone can answer..
The question is, my "main" socket is in my narrow hallway, I don't generally use this socket (no phone attached to it), I have my current home hub in my office upstairs, can the infinity router/equipment be connected to the socket upstairs as I really don't want it in the hall?
    Thanks in advance
    Marvin

Confirming the other replies.... and coffee/tea chocky bickys always helps
On another point you mentioned  "I have my current home hub ...."
I also was on BT Broadband before Infinity. The HomeHub 3 arrived through the post a few days before install date. (The Openreach Engineer brings the Modem with them).
So I decided to connect the New HH3 to my ADSL and set up the wireless, no CD needed it's really easy to do.

  • WMS :  How to Process Sales Order Released before Turning on WMS

    Hello Gurus,
How to process sales orders released before WMS enable flag is turned on in the  new WMS enviournment in Oracle 11.5.10 ?

    Helios,
    Thanks for the document.
I m looking for how to perform Pick confirm transactions for already printed Pick slips before WMS enabled flag is turn on for the org.
One option is to close all the deliveries  but if there is no on hand at that point the they will remain option.
Other option is to Back order those deliveries and re release them post wms enable flag is turned on... The only issue i see here is that if there are more new orders for one of the items  and the orders are released then which orders will get allocated/reserved if there is limited on hand quantity to statisfy the SO need.
Let me know if you can think off some alternative solution.
    Apprecite help !!
    Thanks,
    Sam

  • Sales Order Conversion for Go-Live

    Folks,
I would like to get your expert thoughts on sales order conversion for go-live. I will give my thoughts below and would like to see if you can extend them and make this better.
    1. The environment is this: the order entry systems are several external systems interfacing  with SAP CRM. Therefore, there are two options to bring the sales orders to SCM: i) Use the same interface (BAPI_APO_AVAILABILITY_CHECK that is called from CRM) and create the orders, or, ii) Create the sales orders in ECC and then use the sales order integration model. Note that this is the only time sales orders will come from the ECC system. In steady state, they will come from CRM and based on the SPM scenario that SAP has enabled, they WILL NOT be replicated in ECC
    2. Ensure that all deliveries in the system have been executed. That is, there is no stock that has been assigned to a delivery and the delivery has not been shipped. If this is not the case, you have to bring the deliveries into the system also. So, to clarify, no outstanding deliveries will be brought into the system as part of the conversion.
    3. Sales order fields related to BOP will be populated through program or by other means. This is implementation specific. Some example fields are: i) Sales Org, ii) Delivery Priority, iii) Shipping Conditions on the header, iv) Transportation Zone of customer, v) Ship-to Party number, etc.
    4. Run BOP for all the sales orders based on the criteria that has been defined for this conversion. Note that the criteria for the conversion could be different from the criteria that we will use for steady state.
Could you add any missing steps?
    Thanks,
    Satish

  • Loading transactional data before go live

    Dear colleagues,
In my actual project we have an unexpected and strange requirement wich is to load all the postings that they have done during the year before go-live in their legacy system (we are going live on may). Therefore we have divided the initial loading in two phases:
    1) Classical loading (Balance GL-accounts,Open line items, Assets) at the date 31122008
2)Loading of all postings made during the first half of the year in their legacy system. In that point is when my doubts arise, specially regarding vendor and costumer invoices and their payments. How can we link the invoices and their payments? how can we clear them? and what about the partial payments?
If anybody has done a similar loading i would apreciate his help and guidelines,
    Kind regards
    Marc Puigvert

    Hi Marc,
    Interesting Issue..
Its only theoretically that you are going live on may..
The time you are doing your first live transaction in SAP, you have gone live..
So, when you are posting the invoices and payments (AR and AP) you would do as you are doing the normal process (or)
Create a LSMW to upload the same on a daily or a weekly basis.
Because the posting date would contain the actual date of transaction, there should not be any issue in clearing..
    Good Luck
    Cheers

    Hi,
It is suggestible to leave the trace of the legacy data in the legacy system itself and upload the closing balances only.

  • Log for changes done before posting LIV in Tcode MIRO

    Hi
By default data will be fetched from PO/GR for LIV however our users are changing few details such as payment terms, tax code, vendor code, vendor invoice amount etc., before posting LIV in tcode MIRO. We don't have any log for these changes done by our users.
We want to know what are fields which have been changed by our users at the time of doing LIV (i.e. before posting LIV).
Can any one help us in this regard.
    Regards
    P Karthikeyan

If you know those fields, you can find the differences for those field in table EKKO and EKPO for PO, the similar value will be available for IR in table RBKP and RSEG.
Like as payment term, The payment term is saved in table RBKP - ZTERM for MIRO.
The same will be available in table EKKO - ZTERM for PO.
If the value for both fields are same, then user has not changed the field at the time of MIRO.
If the value mismatched, then user has changes the value in MIRO.
In this way, you can find the differences for other fields.

  • Order phone before my upgrade?

My upgrade is available on November 18. I want the iPhone 6 64gb in space grey, and it says it should ship by Nov 21. Is there a way to order the phone before my upgrade is available, but still pay the upgrade price since I won't have it until after my upgrade, to make sure that I have it asap? My current phone is broken and I decided to wait for my upgrade so I could get the 6. Baiscally, I want to order it before my upgrade to make sure it still ships on the 21st and doesn't get pushed back further.

I am sorry to hear about your current device, bwolve. Do you have an alternate device to activate?  Orders now for the iPhone 6 64GB Space Grey are shipping by 11/21 and you can choose overnight shipping option. This date is subject to change so can't be guaranteed your order would ship by that time.

  • How to get sales order number before saving in VA01 by using parameter

    Hi,
Please let me know how to get sales order number in transaction VA01 before saving it by using parameter in SU3.
I tried to set parameter in SU3 "AUN", but it is not working as required, means sales order number is not appearing before saving.
can you please suggest how to do it?
    Thanks & Regards.
    Rahul Verulkar

    Hi,
In case of Support project, we get the high severity issues from users and needs to be closed withn 2 hours... so what we do we get the requirement from user and checking the same in production from our id, but we can not save the sales order as we are not authorized to do the same, so in such cases it is required to get the sales order number before saving... where we can guide the users.... but actuallly it is not getting saved in the table until and unless u save it manually. It works like a material master... when u create material master, the material number appears in advance in material number field "MATNR"
If it is possible can you please suggest step by step to work on parameter in SU3 for sales order number before saving.
    Thanks & regards,
    Rahul Verulkar

Anybody knows which user exit can I use to do that?

    Hello,
You can use the BADI *MEPROCESS_PO_CUST* to suffice the requirement.
In this structure IM_ITEM has field RETPO. Please pass value to it
    Hope this will help.
