Order of iMac 27" Slim Edge

I ordered a new slim-edged iMac 27" on Dec 11, 2012. Recently it's still in process; however, today I just realized Apple Store has charged the amount on my credit card already. Does it mean my order will be shipped in next 2 business days? Thank you...

It's up to you. I would give it a couple of days to see if you get a "Shipment Notification" email
You should of seen the forum for the new iPod touch it was literally 100's of pages long

Yes. Apple power supplies work with voltages between 110 and 240 v.

That's not quite the proper way as far as I can tell. Usually, one boots directly into the Recovery HD using COMMAND and R keys at startup. If you cannot do that then most likely there is a problem with the hard drive. Since this is a new computer i would make a Genius Appointment and take it in for service.

  • Can no longer order an iMac with wireless KB and mouse?

    Hi,
I just figure out that when someone try to order the iMac, the only keyboard choice is wired. I think this disapear at the same time the wireless mighty mouse arrived.
    Am I wrong?
    Thanks

    Hi,
I had this problem. The stores had them in a package with the wirelesss
keyboard and mouse but they were not available on-line. I had to order on-line to get some upgrades but could not have the wireless package...Catch 22.
So when I called in my order I complained that I could not effectively get what I wanted and without much pressure I was offered a discount if I bought the wireless keyboard and mouse as extra. They knocked off £50 sterling (I'm in the UK) from the total cost. So, for about £40 more (which was the extra cost of the wireless pack in the store) I got what I wanted. With the added bonus of having a spare wired mouse and keyboard which are currently still all wrapped up in their box.
I only placed my order on the 17th and receieved it last Friday so it should be a current deal. I hope it is not too late to help you out.
    Cheers.

  • I have an iPhone in my name and my wife has an iPad in her name. We have just ordered an iMac and wondered which account we should use to get the best out of all the devices

I have an iPhone in my name and my wife has an iPad in her name. We have just ordered an iMac and wondered which account we should use to get the best out of all the devices? Can we use both accounts in iCloud?

Yes you can.  However, it is better to use one person's account most of the time for purchases in the Mac App Store and iTunes since you can share purchases, such as songs, among various devices using the SAME account.  You Cannot share purchases among different accounts, though.   So make one of your accounts the main "purchasing" account so you can share purchases.
    Hope this helps

  • Just order new imac... was it smart

I just ordered a new imac computer with quad core i5. 2.8 Ghz processor 1 gig video card and 8 gig of ram 27 inch screen. Now all the boards and rumors are saying the new thunderbolt on macbooks and I undersand it wont be backwards compatible. Did I do a not so smart thing. I want the new ipad and gonna get the next iphone when it comes out so I will be going all mac. Just having 2nd thoughts on maybe I moved too fast for an imac. But then again will anyone ever keep up with tech? Your thoughts?

I just went through that decision process a few days ago. I ended up ordering a refurbished 2.93 i7 and 16GB Samsung memory from OWC. I have already received the memory and the iMac is scheduled to be delivered on Monday (Feb 28).
I was going to wait for the new iMacs and decided not to do so for a couple of reasons:
    1. The first release of any product usually has a high failure rate and the Apple products are no exception. Unless you actually like being on the bleeding edge it is better to wait a while. Most of the pervasive bugs in the current i7 line have been worked out.
    2. There are only a couple of things that may be in the new iMacs that I could use...Sandybridge and Thunderbolt.
I did an extensive comparison between the current i7 and an i7 Sandybridge and decided that for my use Sandybridge would only give me a slight increase in speed.
I also think that Thunderbolt has a good chance of succeeding, but like all new I/O 'standards' it will take a while for it to gain traction. Products that work well with it will be few and far between for a while, maybe a year or more.
Only time will tell if I made the "Right" choice, but in this instance there is no "Wrong" choice.

  • Is it possible to order an iMac specifically with Snow Leopard, in preference to Lion, say, by the end of this year (as a Christmas gift)?

I want to buy an iMac as a Christmas gift this year and wondered if it may be possible to specifically order one with Snow Leopard? By then I imagine all machines available for sale are likely to have Lion pre-loaded, hence my question.
If I could buy one now, I would, as there are many around still with Snow Leopard - but sadly I can't manage it just at the moment.
    Thanks
    Ross

Thanks folks, I realise this is just a user forum of course, I was just wondering if anyone had previous experience with buying a Mac with an older system on it at a time of changeover like this. A friend has just bought a new one from an Apple store this week with Snow Leopard on it - not surprising given the newness of Lion, but I was curious to know if anyone had experience with being given a choice during a system upgrade.
And who knows...maybe Apple do look in at the forums to see what people are asking????
    Thanks

  • Just ordered new iMac do I still need a modem/router for Internet access

Just  converted to apple, ordered a new IMAC but little confused on Internet access.
does the extreme still need a modem/router,just a little confused after reading all the comments about poor connections etc.
Old windows soldier sorry if a little vague .

The AirPort Extreme is a router, but it is not a modem. You still need your existing cable or DSL modem. That device is usually supplied by your ISP and may or may not include the functions of a router.

  • IMac, coating at edge of screen

    Hi,
my 27" iMac is only 7 months old and I just found a few spots right at the upper edge of the glass cover where the AR coating seems to be damaged.
They are tiny, <1mm, but now that I know where they are, of course I see them all the time, at least during the day, when there is enough light to be reflected.
It is clearly a cosmetic issue, but I am still curious, has anyone else seen it? I read a lot about MBPro issues, but nothing about iMacs. Is the edge of the screen somehow more sensitive to scratches and abrasions, or could it have happened already at the factory, and I just did not notice it until today?
    Thanks,
      Rasti

This is default behavior that can't be changed. Lame, Apple. Very lame.

  • I ordered my Imac yesterday...

and today i checked my order status and it says it has shipped.
so just wondering how long it will take???

Shorter than you expect, longer than you'd like
Last Wednesday afternoon one of my colleagues ordered a new iMac & iPod. The iPod arrived Friday morning and the computer arrived Friday afternoon. Ironically, one of my students placed an order at about the same time and her iPod arrived Friday but the computer arrived Tuesday morning.

  • Ordering new iMac Intel Core Duo

I am about to order the new iMac. I noticed that the wait estimated shipping time increases with certain items. There is a 3-5 day delay for Memory & Graphics Memory. Can I purchase these separately and add them myself? Also, the HD upgrade to the 500 G adds a 3-4 weeks shipping? Can I add these later myself?
What upgrades are doable by the user?
    What configuration should I order?
    thanks,
    GM

    (some stuff deleted)
Adding RAM and hard disk space later should be
possible by opening up the system, as it has been
with previous iMac models. You'll save a little over
Apple's prices, as labor is included in their
    prices.
surprisingly, not always the case - at least here in Canada (for now).
So far, the only price I've found for the iMac SO-DIMM (certified to work in these Macs) is CDN $174 for 1GB. The options are (for now)...
1- buy 2, 1GB modules for $348+$10 shipping and try to sell the 512MB.
2- Apple BTO to 2GB for $360 ($333 educational for me) OR
3- Apple BTO to 1GB for $120 ($111 educational) and order a second one 1GB from a reputable RAM supplier for $174 for a total of $294/$285.
If I choose to go with this iMac, it looks like Apple's smaller upgrade is a better deal with the remaining 1GB left to a different supplier.
No documentation has been posted yet for the new
iMacs, though, so it's anyone's guess as to how easy
any of these upgrades are with the redesigned
internal layout of the system hardware.

  • I want to order an iMac 27" today, but...

Does the version available today (and I'm looking to upgrade/customise) come with the retina display or ar Apple trying to get rid of old stock at the same price?

Now that I am a wiser man, I have just placed my order for a 27" with 1TB Fusion, uprated to i7 and some other bits... excited now as this is my first Apple desktop purchase, other than my ipod, ipad and iphone....

This is my first Apple, and I was wondering if it yet considered necessary to have anti-virus, anti-spyware, and firewall protection for the Imac.?
I'm sure that all these programs are readily made for the Mac, but I just wanted to make sure.
    Thanks in advance.

If you want to run parallels you will want to bump the RAM up to 2gb ..otherwise you will handicap your Mac when both OSs are running.
Anti-virus/spyware on a Mac? Yes, there are apps available if you are having problems getting rid of that PC habit. You currently don't need them though. Just turn on the built-in firewall and keep your browser and OS up to date.
    Welcome to the Mac.
