What advantage does the
ORM in Adobe ColdFusion 9
Have for flex developers as Flash builder 4 does so much of that for us nowadays

What is nice about it is the AIR support, imho, so that you can do object-oriented database management with a SQLite database on the client without having to have a server. The actual ORM swc that comes with CF9 is placed in the Flex library and then no more having to write inordinately complex queries to accomplish simple things; you simply update objects' properties like you would with a typical object in FLEX. In addition, if you're using the ORM framework and want to build an application that allows users to easily update a remote database with data worked on offline, it's built in. As you probably know, there are several ORM frameworks out there already, but this appears to be the one Adobe is going with so it's worth a shot with the hope of long-term support, as opposed to some of the others which are not supported or rather stale.

Does the new AIR SDK support iOS 64-bit for Flex Developers?

I saw that the new AIR SDK(December 18, 2014) has supported iOS 64-bit, but it was only supported in the new compiler. See this:

I guess, you might be packaging IPA on windows machine. Please try latest beta at http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/air.html which has iOS64 support on Windows machine as well.

Job market for Flex developers

I know it is slow. What's the demand and pays for Flex developers comparing to .Net and Java developers? Any comments?

The demand for Java and .Net developers is still much greater than Flex. When the economy is tough businesses go back to safe (Java) rather than the "hot" technology (Flex). It's a perfect time to be improving your Flex skills though. When things start bouncing back the demand for Flex developers will grow faster than the supply relative to Java/.Net.
(Just my two cents... and my experience as a Java and Flex developer.)

404 Downloading Adobe Add-Ons for Flex 4 Release

When I go to download the Adobe Add-Ons for the release version of Flex 4, I get sent to http://fpdownload.adobe.com/pub/flex/sdk/builds/flex4/flex_sdk_4.0.0.141595_add-on.zip, which gives me a 404 error. Earlier versions seem to work fine.

ColdFusion Setup for Flex

I have two questions about setting up ColdFusion to access a remote CFC from FLEX (Flash Builder 4.5). I host several domains on my ColdFusion 8 server with IIS 6. I would like to set things up so that I can hit a CFC that is not on the same domain as my "main" coldfusion server (ColdFusion .CFM files run fine from this domain). I can't seem to do it though.
If I adjust my service control endpoint so that it USES my main coldfusion domain, it works:
_serviceControl.endpoint = "http://www.myMainColdFusionDomain.com/flex2gateway/"
but if I try a different domain, it does not work:
_serviceControl.endpoint = "http://www.notMyMainColdFusionDomain.com.com/flex2gateway/
Also, I am having trouble with putting my CFC in a subdirectory and still getting it to work. In other words, building from the above working URL, I can't seem to just add a subdirectory to the URL--it doesn't work:
_serviceControl.endpoint = "http://www.myMainColdFusionDomain.com/subDirectory/flex2gateway/"
I am sorry if what I am asking seems very basic, I am just learning.

Ok, I think worked this out for myself.
First, I adjusted my default website in IIS so that it pointed to the directory of the domain I wanted to use, that cleared up the domain issue--not really the way I thought it would be done, but it works...
Next for my directory question, I used a dot notation to indicate there is a subdirectory, and plugged it into my super class as follows:
_serviceControl.source = "subdirectory.myCFCsName";

Air 3.7 for Flex on mac

It sounds so simple and probably should be, but I just spend 3 hours trying to get the most basic setup running and I'm lost in the mess Adobe created. I followed a couple of tutorials and documents but none seem to be working.
All I want is to generate a Flex for mobile project with the latest Air 3.7 SDK.
I tried steps to replace the airsdk that is now deeply hidden in flashbuilders eclipse folders. That only allowed me to create an actionscript for mobile project with 3.7, but not a Flex project.
I tried to download the Air sdk that supposed to be for flex developers (http://airdownload.adobe.com/air/mac/download/latest/AdobeAIRSDK.tbz2). I overlayed these files into an existing Flex 4.6.0 folder. The result was that Flashbuilder didn't recognize the folder as a Flex SDK anymore.
I tried the latter step on a PC and it work so far that I can compile and debug flex for mobile apps on the ipad (with fast mode). Standard mode and export release build end in an never ending packaging process (1.5 hours now for a hello world app and still at 0%)
Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you

The Apache Flex project has a few scripts that will help you on OSX.
This will dowload and check the MD5 hashed of all playerglobal.swcs into a Flex SDK.

Sort of OT: Adobe Coldfusion 8 (Standard)

I bought a standard version of Adobe Coldfusion 8 for $1,299 about three years ago. Initially intended to use it for a hosted app but change plan, so, never use it. If I don't tranfer its ownership the money would be wasted, so, if your company is looking to purchase a copy of Coldfusion this guy would be good for you. Lower than $1,299 is ok with me. If you want a new version, simply buy the upgrade, that would do. This way you save some money and help me avoid waste of money. Btw, this copy is in DVD format.

Ok, so I was in the process of moving to a new server, I had the advantage of having a working system to reference. I had to manually build the apache connector script which was not a surprise as the docs spell that out. What was not obvious is that I had to build my own wsconfig/1/ directory for it to include all the files including a ./libs directory within it /opt/coldfusion8/runtime/libs/wsconfig/1/.libs
My system did not have a /1/ directory created so I did this manually and populated the files.
I also had to manually fix update the httpd.conf file (which again I had from the other system to reference).
Royal Pain indeed but it was fixed this way. Lesson learned. I'm going to tarbal up that directory and save in case I need to recover from this again in the future. Hopefully next time I'll be using Coldfusion 9 and hopefully they'll have drastically improved the installation on Linux.

Urging Adobe to provide an install for Flex 2.0.1 along with Eclipse 3.2.2

I feel strongly that Adobe should provide an installer to
install Flex 2.01 along with Eclipse 3.2.2 for Windows
It's nice that we have an update for Flex but in my mind (as
a paying customer) I should have got a full update and not a
partial update. As it is the IDE sucks big time and to know that
there is a new version available but we don't get it with the
update is extremely painful.
This decision on Adobe's part makes me wonder what to expect
in the long run. I mean isn't an update to a newer, improved IDE
also considered an update? After all Flex Builder includes the IDE,
no?
And yes, please don't tell me I can simply go and download
Exclipse and "do it myself". I din't Buy Flex Builder to do this
stuff myself. I expect(ed) full service.

I would love to see an ORM solution that has a more active following and that is being actively maintained. Unfortunately I lack the experience and knowledge, not to mention time, to set one up myself and maintain it on an ongoing basis.
There seems to be some hubbub around http://www.matsiya-technology.com/introducing-sofa-an-adobe-air-orm-for-sqlite/#comments, but not sure if this project died or not. There don't seem to be any links to anything implementable.
What other ORMs do people use for AIR? I haven't been able to find much of anything else. (Using an ORM for FLEX is a bit redundant, as most of the times the data will come from mysql and will be handled by PHP first, then transferred as RemoteObjects, althought I would think it is possible to build FLEX apps that stand on their own.)
