OSB 11g and the ServiceConfigurationMBean
Hello,
In OSB 10.3 I was able to modify the BusinessServices by using JMX through the ServiceConfigurationMBean. How can I do that in the 11g? The ServiceConfigurationMBean seems not to exist anymore.
Thanks.

ORA-00932 Error using 11g and the SDO_RELATE function. Works fine in 10g
Hello,
If I run this query in Oracle 11g:
SELECT M.FID, MAX(M.VERSION) AS VERSION
FROM SW_PB.A_ROADNODEINFORMATION M, SW_PB.ROADNODE N
WHERE M.REFERENCETOROADNODE = N.FID
AND M.NODEVERSION = N.VERSION
AND M.CATALOGUEID <= 477
AND MDSYS.SDO_RELATE( N.GEOM, MDSYS.SDO_GEOMETRY(2003,81989,NULL,MDSYS.SDO_ELEM_INFO_ARRAY(1,1003,3),MDSYS.SDO_ORDINATE_ARRAY(120000,0,160000,40000)),'MASK=ANYINTERACT QUERYTYPE=WINDOW') = 'TRUE'
GROUP BY M.FID;
I get an error regarding the N.GEOM field. The error is as follows:
ORA-00932: inconsistent datatypes: expected - got MDSYS.SDO_ELEM_INFO_ARRAY
The same query runs fine on a 10g database with the same data. I've even truncated the N table and still get the error. I've rebuilt the index but it makes no difference and the metadata is exactly the same for this table as it is for other tables that are involved in a similar query.
It looks like a bug to me but just wondered if anyone else had come across this?
Thanks,
Peter. Thanks for the reply. I'm really sorry but I haven't created trace files like this for a very long time and have forgotten the best way to read them. This is the start of the trace file, any help with reformatting it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Peter.

OSB 10gR3 and the HTTP 1.1 specification
Per RFC 2616 (14.23) the Host request-header is supposed to have Internet host and port number of the resource being requested.
When using HTTP transports with transport headers in the message flow, the Host header is copied from inbound to outbound. However, this means it does not conform to the standard.
If the call to the OSB is http://www.mybus.com/something then the Host header comes in as www.mybus.com
Then the OSB forwards the call to http://www.myservice.com/something. The Host header should be set to www.myservice.com but it remains www.mybus.com.
Without manually overriding the Host header value in dozens of message flows, is there a way to have it set to the value specified in the business Proxy?I'm 100 % sure that OSB doesn't copy Host header from inbound to outbound by default. If you use Transport Headers in your flow, then you should explicitly transport only headers which are useful for your case. If you use (for example) "Pass All Headers" option, than you shouldn't be surprised that all headers are transferred.

Hi,
I have just installed OSB 11g and it seems like JCA transport is not there in the Proxy/Business service - Transport tab.
I have checked OEPE plugins folder and JCA transport folder is empty.
Is this like my installation is not proper or I have to do some configuration for JCA?
I have tried creating a JCA db adapter using 10g Jdev and it didnt work, error message when creating business service is " WSDL contains a tranport not supported".
Please help.
Regards,
APHi all,
I've followed the JCA DB Adapter with OSB tutorial at:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/sample_code/products/osb/index.html
I'm using OSB 11gR1 and JDeveloper 11gR1 11.1.1.3.0 Build JDEVADF_11.1.1.3.PS2_GENERIC_100408.2356.5660
First, the JCA DB Adapter wsdl file generated by JDeveloper using the DB Adapter wizard doesn't carry binding and port information for the wsdl. I've configured a pool table adapter with the DB Adapter wizard.
So I've generated the JCA binding and port manually using the WSDL design view inside JDev.
Next when I try to create a proxy service within OSB, it says that: "The WSDL contains a binding not supported by OSB."
Has anyone faced this before? Hints appreciated...
Here's the WSDL:

Some questions with respect to OSB 11g
Hi,
I am quite new to OSB 11g and have some queries.
1. If a SOA Composite transaction has been rolled back, how would be reflected in OSB. Would there be any retries?
2. For a composite to use a proxy service, is it a must to use a direct binding reference of OSB? Can't SOA composite simply consider a proxy service a generic web service?
3. Where are the debugging information written to? Can you control what is written to the debugging file? Can you specify filters, level of severity? Can you specify what context variables?
4. Does OSB only runs on WLS and is therefore not hot pluggable on other app servers?
5. One can create, attach WS-policies to my WSDL web services and enforce them on WLS all without using OWSM. If this is possible then what is the role of OWSM?
I would really appreciate any help with these queries.
Regards
Priya.1. If a SOA Composite transaction has been rolled back, how would be reflected in OSB. Would there be any retries?
If you are calling an OSB Proxy from a SOA Composite and the transaction is terminated and rolled back from SOA Composite then OSB transaction will also be terminated and an error will be logged on OSB side. For retrying I am not sure but there should be an option in the SOA suite composite to retry.
2. For a composite to use a proxy service, is it a must to use a direct binding reference of OSB? Can't SOA composite simply consider a proxy service a generic web service?
SOA Suite composite can directly call a WSDL based Proxy Service as a generic web service. I believe it It should also be possible to invoke an XML/HTTP (Any XML Proxy Service) from SOA Suite composite. Although Direct Binding is the preferred option because of performance and security reasons.
3. Where are the debugging information written to? Can you control what is written to the debugging file? Can you specify filters, level of severity? Can you specify what context variables?
Debug information will be written into the WLS log files by default. You can log any information you want (context variables or custom data) from a Proxy Service message flow using Log action. You can control the severity of log in the Log Action.
You can define what level of Logs will be actually written to the log file and set any custom filters on Logs in the WLS Console (Home>Servers>{Your server Name}>Logging>Advanced).
If you want to enable specific debug logging at the server level(for ex if you want to log transaction details by default), you can do so by enabling needed debug logging at (Home>Servers>{Your server Name}>Debug)
4. Does OSB only runs on WLS and is therefore not hot pluggable on other app servers?
Yes OSB is only certified for WLS.
5. One can create, attach WS-policies to my WSDL web services and enforce them on WLS all without using OWSM. If this is possible then what is the role of OWSM?
Biggest difference is of Scope. You can very well attach WS Policies to services in OSB but their scope will only be of OSB. OWSM can do so at an enterprise level across various applications. OWSM also provides end to end security and SLA monitoring, easier update of Policies across enterprise etc. For more details on OWSM check out this white paper:

How to do service callout with the incoming JMS message in OSB 11g
Hello All,
I have a specific requirement for which I am creating a kind of POC where I need some help in OSB, however am new to OSB.
My Environment:
1> I have a request queue (deployed on a WLS domain) - WFReq_WS
2> I have a response queue (deployed on a WLS domain) - WFRes_WS
3> I have created a ProxyService (request/response type) in OSB 11g which is simply mapping the incoming message in WFReq_WS to WFRes_WS
4> I have a WebService (it is currently a simple hello WebService for testing) which takes a string and returns the same string with an added 'Hi' in front of it (e.g. If you send Jack, it will return 'Hi Jack')
My Requirement:
1> I have to do some mechanism in OSB, by which while mapping the message from WFReq_WS to WFRes_WS (through the proxy service I have), it will pick the JMS message (which will be a string/text) and will make a service callout to the Webservice I mentioned using the message as the input parameter of the WebService.
2>Now when the response of the WebService will come, OSB should send this response as the message in the response queue (WFRes_WS) I mentioned above.
To simplify the requirement using an example:
A> I will send a text/String message (say Jack) to the request queue (WFReq_WS)
B> OSB should pick the message (Jack) and make a service callout to the webservice
C> webservice will return 'Hi Jack'
D> OSB should send this to the response queue (WFRes_WS)
I know the above might look very basic question to the PROs, but please elaborate (step by step) what need to be done, since I do not know OSB.
Thanks a lot for your help !Your example points A and D are easily done by having a "Proxy Service" which has the following details:
Service Type = Messaging Service
Request and Response type = Text
Protocol = jms
Endpoint URI = your request queue (format like 'jms://localhost:7013/weblogic.jms.XAConnectionFactory/QueueJNDIName')
Checkmark "response" so that the proxy service automatically delivers the response to another queue - your response queue
Response URI = jms://localhost:7013/weblogic.jms.XAConnectionFactory/QueueResponse
Now since your "Hello" webservice is (probably) a SOAP xml service you need to "convert" your text based JMS message to xml before sending it on to the "Hello" service.
Your JMS proxy can do that by just doing a "Assign <whom>{$body/text()}</whom>" to a variable (lets call it 'reqHello')
Now your JMS proxy should actually call the Hello service and since your JMS proxy is text and the Hello service is SOAP you cannot just "pass" on to the Hello service in a "Route to". Instead you can do a Service Callout where you can specify your "reqHello" variable as payload and a "respHello" as response variable.
Now you have the "<whom>Hi jack</whom>" in the response variable and since the JMS response needs to be text format you can "extract" the text value into the body variable of the JMS proxy (use "replace /* in body with $respHello/text()" - replace node contents)
The actual Hello service is a simple "SOAP" based Proxy Service. Add a pipeline and add a stage in the reponse pipeline. Do a ...
Assign fn:concat("Hi ",$body/whom/text()) to $whomVar
Replace whom in body with $whomVar (replace node contents) -
Dynamic endpoints in SOA and OSB 11g
Hi,
In AIA we have aiaconfiguration properties.xml from where end points of wsdls will be accessible.
This enables ease in migrations so that if endpoint changes it is only need to be changed in aiaconfiguration properties.xml.
Can the same be acheived in SOA and OSB 11g projects?
Thanks,
SowmyaHi Sowmya,
Yes, it is very much possible in OSB 11g using customization (you may use it manually or programmitically). Please refer -

Configure OSB 11g to use the same domain as SOA Suite 11g
Hi,
A quick question on OSB Installation and extend the weblogic domain created for soa for OSB also. Please guide me what i am following is the correct path.
I followed the soa 11g and osb 11g installation doc from Eric Elzinga blog also checked oracle doc. Am quite confused about the directory structure to cofigure SOA Suite 11g and OSB 11g.
After SOA suite install , I Configure Oracle SOA Suite by following the below path
Run: middleware/wlserver_10.3/common/bin/config.exe (followed the blog ON OSB 11g Installation from Eric Elzinga).
I have seen another path to configure soa suite from oracle doc
SOA_ORACLE_HOME\common\bin\config.cmd
eg: E:\oraclehome\11g\middleware\Oracle_SOA1\common\bin\config.cmd
both directory str are correct?
After OSB installation , to configure OSB , I choose to reuse the SOA Suite domain to extend it with the Oracle Service Bus components. so in that case , is it the right directory structure I am following is
<Middleware_Home>\oracle_common\common\bin\config.bat.
eg: E:\oraclehome\11g\middleware\oracle_common\common\bin\config.bat
Thanks in advance
jkEventually you configure the weblogic domain always (either it is for SOA or OSB or BPM or all), so you should use middleware/wlserver_10.3/common/bin/config.exe

OSB 11G - Routing with policy and forwarding authentication headers
Hi there,
I'm having problems trying to add authentication to some services developed with OSB 11G.
One of the requirements is that the services authenticate using the "oracle/wss_username_token_service_policy" policy... So far so good...
My problem now is that one of the services I'm trying to route messages to needs the same authentication as the OSB router... I've tried everything I found but without any success... The headers aren't being propagated...
I've found out that the header variable has the Authentication segments so I can remove the routing, add a service callout and add the header variable to it.. But this is kind of a hammered solution...
Is there any other solution that I'm missing?
Thanks in advance,
Best Regards,
Daniel Alves
Edited by: 863416 on Sep 18, 2012 9:49 AMHi,
transporting header setting is described here
Yuan's SOA Blog: Retrieve and pass around http Authorization header with OSB
but something is missing, I have to set proxy service Authentication to Basic. But then OSB authenticate inbound request at local scope and I want to authenticate at called web service level. How to do that? -
Obiee 11g and custom j2ee app using the same cookie name
Hi,
I wrote a same j2ee web application. i'am using authentification through a realm configured in the web.xml.
This web app is deployed in the same weblogic than obiee 11g. What i want to do is to embed my application in a dashboard using an iframe tag, and use the same login from analytics to my custom web app.
In this article http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11035_01/wls100/security/thin_client.html#wp1039551, it is said that by default, all web apps in the sames weblogic server are using the same cookie name so that they share authentification between them. However, i have read in the web that analytics in obiee 11g is using a cookie with the name "ORA_BIPS_NQID".
In the weblogic.xml of my custom application, i set the cookie-name parameter to ORA_BIPS_NQID. However, in the dashbord, it still prompt for authentification to my custom web app.
How can we share authentification between analytics and a custom web app in the same weblogic ?
NB : I dont want to pass the username et password through the url.
Thanks.By default, if you don't specify a cookie-name in the weblogic.xml configuration file, the weblogic server create a cookie named JSESSIONID for your application. For exemple, if two applications use the default configuration, both of them will use the same cookie name which is JSESSIONID. In this case, when you log in the first application, your are automaticaly logged in the second application with the same credentials. I have already test this kind of integration and it works perfectly. You only need that the two applications are deployed in the same weblogic server.
Now, i want to have the same behaviour between obiee 11g and my custom application deployed in the same weblogic server. I read somewhere in the web that obiee 11g presentation service (analytics) is configured with a cookie-name value = "ORA_BIPS_NQID". So in the weblogic.xml configuration file of my web app, i specify a cookie-name value = "ORA_BIPS_NQID" to have the same cookie-name between the two application. But, it still not work. It prompt for authentification in the dashboards.
I now, that such an integration is possible, because the other bi applications (mapviewer, bipublisher,...) are actually other web applications. However when using, for exemple, maps in dashbords, the mapviwer application automaticaly user the credentials of the user connected in analytics. -
OSB 11g - Authentication - Username and password in SOAP body
Hi,
I have a PS based on the WSDL provided by the client. According to the WSDL the client will send the username and password (to be used for authentication) in SOAP Body. I have extract the username and password from the body and authenticate it and then only process the data.
The approach I am thinking of is to create two PS. The first PS will be called by client to send the data. There will be no authentication required for this PS. Once this PS (PS-1) receives the message it will extract the username, password and data from the SOAP body. It will then set the username and password in the HTTP header of the second PS (PS-2) and the data in the SOAP body of PS-2.
PS-2 will be under basic authentication. PS-2 will accept the data as the only payload. Upon receiving the data it will do the normal processing.
But I do not see any way to set the HTTP header (Authorization) for the second PS. Is my approach correct? Is there another/better approach?
I went through this link [http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13159_01/osb/docs10gr3/security/model.html] and found that we may have to configure another Authentication provider. How to do that?
Thanks,
SanjayHi Sanjay,
Your approach seems correct to me (using two proxies) but instead of setting the username and password in HTTP header, you may set it as SOAP header and use Custom Authentication method in OSB. To know more about it, please refer -

Hi everybody,
I'm trying to find out if domain-value maps (DVM) and cross-reference tables (XREF) are supported for OSB 11g. We have only OSB licensed, not SOA Suite.
OSB statement of direction states that these features will be supported.
This blog post explains how to develop custom DVM-like functionality in OSB 10R3 - http://guidoschmutz.wordpress.com/2009/12/25/implement-domain-value-maps-dvm-with-oracle-service-bus-osb-10r3/
Is there any custom implementations of XREF-like functionality?
Regards,
Dmitrydomain-value maps (DVM) and cross-reference tables (XREF) are not yet supported for OSB 11GR1.
It is still on road map and you can expect out of box support for these in coming releases of OSB. Talk to your Oracle sales representative to get accurate picture of release dates etc.
Thanks

Can I install OBIEE 10g and 11g on the same machine?
While I'm waiting for new hardware, I wanted to get started on installing OBIEE 11g on my laptop. Can I do this if I already have 10g installed?
I want to make sure if I install it that it will not impact my current 10g setup. I'm not sure if it overrides certain files and folders or if I can do a separate installation to have both.Hello everyone.
I have OBIEE 10g on my Production box pointing to the Oracle Database 11g R1 which is also having OWB integrated in it.
Now, I am planning to upgrade OBIEE 10g to 11g and Oracle Database from 11g R1 to 11g R2, so that OWB will also be upgarded, as it is integrated in 11gR2.
I am confused about, how to run RCU on the database, as OBIEE 10g schemas and packages will already be there in the database.
If I run RCU again, what will it do???
Has anyone done this before? or any good document available ?
Many Thanks,
Ahsan. -
