This can be done, although its been so long I forget the exact details. There are some utilities out there that will let you run any program as a service. I remember I created a batch file to run my java program in and then set the batch file up as a service.

Need to create report based on criteria between a range of dates

I am very new to Numbers '09 and a beginner with spreadsheets. I've searched and can't find a formula that fits this. I've tried Match/IF Match/Index VLookup If/And formulas but can't get the right results.
I need to be able to create a report based on data from Master Spreadsheet. I need formulas that will populate Report Page B8:B17 and D8:D17 from data in Master Spreadsheet that meets criteria range of dates (Report Page B5 and B6).
The closest I've come was an IF(AND formula, but that left blank lines on my report page. (I understand why, just not sure how to resolve it.)
P.S. I am working in Numbers '09 on an iPad (yes, the samples below are not in the Numbers program, but it was easier to do screen shots on my Mac notebook

So you are trying to retrieve the dates and associated comments for a specific student in a specific class between the two dates.
Here's an example, using OFFSET and MATCH, plus an added index column on the Master table. Formulas and discussion below.
Column E uses IF and AND to determine which rows contain the data to be transferred, thn uses MAX to number those rows.
Master::E2: =IF(AND(A>=Report :: $B$5,A<=Report :: $B$6,B=Report :: $B$3,C=Report :: $B$4),MAX($E$1:E1)+1,"")
Fill down to the bottom of column E.
I don't see a need to repeat the "Date" and "Comment" labels on each row containing a date and comment, so I've placed these as fixed text in A8 and B8 of the Report table, and filled the cells below those with the dates and comments using MATCH and OFFSET.
A9: =IF(ROW()>MAX(Master :: $E)+8,"",OFFSET(Master :: $A$1,MATCH(ROW()-8,Master :: $E,0)-1,0))

As can be seen, these formulas are identical except for the column-offset argument in OFFSET, shown in bold in the examples.
Fill both formulas down to the bottoms of their columns.

Help needed in creating a Simple Service

Hi, I'm a student studying java and would like to set up a simple SOAP service using J2EE and Apache Tomcat, but have fallen at the first hurdle it seems.
Here's my problem:
Whenever I try to use the SOAP admin tool to deploy a service, and I try to click on the "List" button, I get a compiler error when the browser is trying to compile "list.jsp".
It says:
org.apache.jasper.JasperException: Unable to compile class for JSP
An error occurred at line: 4 in the jsp file: /admin/list.jsp

Need help creating text based game in Java

You should really create a GameCharacter object that contains the
statistics for a character (player or non-player) in the game.

Create/Copy a Service

Hi all,
I need to copy a standard transaction of SRM in Z namespace and make some logical changes in it. To be able to use this transaction from web, I need to create a new service in Z namespace as well. I tried creating a new service in SICF by copying the standards characteristics, but the service does not work.
A communication failure error is given.
Please correct me if wrong. Can i use the standard ITS service to call my Zprgram??

Create Complex Web Service using ADF BC Service Interface

Hi,
We have a requirement to create a number of web services with complex data types. The data types model a logical database entity and therefore contain multiple "rows" of data.
In the most simple example, we have an entity Person and Person Address where 1 person and have multiple person addresses. We need to create a web service that encapsulates these entities and the relationship. For example the web service payload would contain:

We have created ADF BC components for each entity and the relationships. Now we are attempting to use the ADF BC Service Interface functionality to expose web service methods that would create and update the underlying VO/EO/Database tables with one call (i.e. create a record in table Person and one in Person Address).
Creating a service interface for each entity VO works fine but we require a complex service encapsulating the logical entity of Person.
Does anyone know if this is possible with ADF BC Service functionality? Or should we be looking for alternative method of generating these web services?
Any advice greatly appreciated.

Hi,
Alberto is right in his approach. You can't say to evaluate the chains rules at 9:30am but you can set an evaluation context of 10 minutes so that the chains rules are reevaluated every 10 minutes.
Then you can create a rule that says
if the time is between 9:30am and 9:40am and step_to_check is running or not_started
then start send_notification_step

I downloaded Sun Java Studio (great!) and am able to do some things, bind controls to the db, consume Web services, etc. However, I need to create some Web services. First of all, can I do that in Studio Creator? Is there any clear, examples that will walk me through, step-by-step?

Theoretically, yes, you can build a service in.NET
and a UI in JSC. There is a problem that cropped up.
I have posted the problem earlier. To create a web
service in .NET is a breeze. However, it does not
come over to JSC as a UI. May be there is some
tweeking to do. Web Services should be platform
independent, right now they do not seem to be so.You are correct that web services (generated in .NET or anywhere else) do not get exported "as a UI". However, all web services should provide a way to get the Web Services Description Language (WSDL) description of that web service. If you can find the URL for that WSDL file (or get a copy onto your local disk), you can add a corresponding web service to Creator, by going to the Server Navigator, right clicking on Web Services, and selecting the "Add Web Service" dialog.
This will cause a client proxy library to be created and added to your Server Navigator list, just like the examples that are pre-installed. Then, you can import and use those web services to construct a web user interface for them.
See the online help for the Add Web Service dialog for more information, as well as the "Accessing Web Services" tutorial on the Creator web site.

What you can do within the application is have a report/dashboard to highlight the SRs that are over their planned SLA, but the user will have to be in the application to see it.
If you want a time based WF, it currently is not available within R16, but you can write a relatively simple WS in combination with an integration event to solve this issue.

    I posted some questions for OSB and received some responses helpful. And today, I have a question about it to clearing about business services in OSB.
    Based on oracle's documents, a business service will connect to (I mean it can communicate) service provider (backend service). I have a example: Backend service A provide two services getEmployeeInfo and updateEmployee. Will I create one or two business services to connect to A ( to use these services) ? I think I need only one ? Can anyone talk about this case ?

for your scenario you can use only one business service,
1. As Karan already explain about wsdl, you should create a Business Service using WSDL file then you can choose operation at testing time.
2. if you don't want to use a wsdl and you can create a SOAP type service then you can use WSA-Action to identify the service at beckend . Using wsa-action you can send a operation name like :
<wsa:Action>http://xmlns.oracle.com/pcbpel/adapter/db/dbAdapterMultiOperation/Project1/AnkitTest/insert(Operation Name)</wsa:Action>

how to configure proxy services in OSB for Rest based services implemented using Jersey (Rest).
The Client need to contact OSB proxy servies by posting application/xml using jersey client and OSB proxy service will call the OSB business service.
i would like to know how to get this request in OSB proxy service and send it to the business service and get the response back.

Using a uddi key to create a business service in OSB

I want to be able to use a service registry key when creating a business service in OSB. I've found documentation on how to do this in Oracle ESB, but not in OSB.
From the documentation for OSB, I can only find a way to synchronize the business services imported from the service registry (when i search through the imported services there is no mention of the uddi key that i can see). I can choose to auto-import when setting up the registry, but I'm not sure exactly what this behavior does.

"You can use the Auto-Import Status page to synchronize changes to a service with those present in the registry. Upon any changes to a service in the registry, Oracle Service Bus provides notification of the change on the Auto-Import Status page which lists all out-of-sync services. You can then synchronize the service in the Oracle Service Bus Console with the corresponding service in the UDDI registry."
This setting seems to automatically update the endpoint of the business service wihtout that administrator having to do anything, but what is actually being done? Is the service bus updating the endpoint as soon as it has been notified of a change or when i view/call the service is the endpoint being looked up?
Am I missing something??

I took your advice and re factored the Receive class so it had all the functionality I needed except two methods which would then be overridden in the derived classes. What I had a hard time understanding is once an object of class say SpecialReceive extends Receive it can be referred to as Receive yet still maintain that it's a SpecialReceive.
What I mean is if I give a Receive object to some method and this method has no idea that this object is actually SpecialReceive and it calls a method say run() which gets overridden by the SpecialReceive. I thought that since this method has no idea what type of Receive this object is it will execute Receive's run(). But it actually does know what type of class it is and it executes the right run() method (the one that SpecialReceive overrides).
After I realized this there is no more need for casting.

Within Oracle SOA Suite, Oracle Service Bus would handle the REST side of things, which in turn would call the JCA adapter to talk to your JDE backend, or vice versa.

and the OSB Docs - HTTP and Poller Transports - 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.7)
OSB 11.1.1.7 introduced additional REST support, so I'd recommend using that version onwards.
